European Board Management Tools

Board management software, also called a board portal, distributes agendas and board packs, records votes and minutes and tracks follow-up actions, so it holds a company's most confidential documents. These European alternatives to Diligent Boards are run by EU, EEA, UK or Swiss entities, and several of them state where documents are stored.

How we rank these tools — 4-step process
  1. 1
    European ownership, verified

The company is headquartered and incorporated in the EU, EEA or Switzerland, and processes customer data in Europe. A US parent company disqualifies a tool from this page regardless of where its servers are.

  2. 2
    Category fit and hands-on review

What the tool actually does, who it suits, and where it falls short — checked against the vendor’s own documentation, changelog and pricing page rather than its marketing copy.

  3. 3
    Compliance and pricing check

GDPR posture, hosting location and the prices quoted on this page are verified against the vendor’s public pricing before publication, and re-checked when we revisit the category.

  4. 4
    Position on this page

Placement on this page can be paid, and that can affect the order tools appear in. It never buys a listing: a tool that fails the checks above is not here at any price, and payment does not change the shortcomings we write about. A vendor can ask us to correct a factual error — not to remove a criticism.

Vendors can pay for visibility on this page. It never changes what an entry says about a product, including the criticism, and we earn nothing when you click through to a vendor. Paid placement can affect the order in which tools appear; it never affects whether a tool is listed. Editorial policy

Key takeaways

  • iBabs, run by iBabs B.V. in Hoorn and part of Euronext, leads this category because it combines formal voting, minutes, signatures and stated ISO 27001:2022 and ISO 9001:2015 in one Dutch-registered product.
  • Only Fabasoft Boards lets the customer choose the data location, with Switzerland, Austria or Germany on offer, while Boardwise sidesteps the question by running inside the customer's own Microsoft 365 and Azure tenant.
  • Diliforce, Styreplan, Bård, Tudu and Admincontrol publish prices, from NOK 690 a month for a whole five-person board at Bård to EUR 8.70 per user per month at Diliforce, while iBabs, DiliTrust, Boardwise, Fabasoft Boards, BetterBoard and Boardeaser ask for a quote.
  • Five of the twelve tools are Norwegian (Admincontrol, Orgbrain, Styreplan, Bård, Tudu), and BetterBoard in Denmark adds MitID, so a Nordic board that signs with BankID or MitID has a narrower and better-fitting shortlist than a general suite offers.
  • DiliTrust and Diliforce bundle the board portal with contracts and entity records, whereas Boardeaser attaches financial reporting and consolidation, so each answers a different second question about what else the board secretary has to maintain.

European board management software is the portal a board uses to send agendas and board packs, collect votes, write minutes and track follow-up actions, supplied by a company established in the EU, EEA, UK or Switzerland, which matters because the documents inside are the most confidential a company owns and the contracting entity decides which courts and regulators can reach them.

#1 iBabs

Hoorn, Netherlands Per-user price calculator on the pricing page (amounts not in the HTML we read); volume discounts through sales Demo on request

Best for: Public bodies, councils, associations and companies that want a Dutch-run board portal with formal voting and minutes

  • Operating company. iBabs B.V.
  • Jurisdiction. EU (Netherlands)
  • Where the data sits. Hosted on Microsoft Azure; the privacy statement says personal data may be stored on servers within the EEA (specific region not named on the pages read)
  • Source code. Closed source
  • Replaces. Diligent Boards, Nasdaq Boardvantage

iBabs is the formal-governance default in this list: agendas and board packs, document annotation, online voting, minutes, action tracking with a red, amber and green status, signatures inside the platform and offline access on the iOS and Android apps. The portal began with Dutch government ministries, and the vendor says more than 3,000 organisations and over 300,000 users now work in it, which are vendor figures.

iBabs B.V. is registered in Hoorn and, according to its own privacy statement, belongs to Euronext Corporate Solutions and the Euronext N.V. Group, so the supplier is European but not independent. The security page says the platform runs on Microsoft Azure, and the privacy statement refers to servers within the EEA without naming a region. The pricing page shows a calculator whose amounts are not in the page text, and the public portal, streaming and AI transcripts are separate add-ons.

What iBabs does well

  • Registered in the Netherlands and part of a European exchange group
  • Voting, minutes, action tracking and signatures in one product
  • ISO 27001:2022 and ISO 9001:2015 stated
  • Microsoft 365 integration and offline access
  • Public portal and streaming add-ons for councils

Where iBabs falls short

  • Price only through a calculator or sales
  • Runs on Microsoft Azure
  • Not independent of Euronext
  • Add-ons priced separately

Standout feature. iBabs is the only tool in this category that sells a public information portal and live streaming for open council meetings.

#2 Admincontrol

Oslo, Norway Preparation portal GBP 250 per month; virtual data room from GBP 685 per month with 500 MB storage (GBP 0.90 per MB overage), monthly invoice, 30 days notice Demo on request

Best for: Nordic and UK mid-market M&A and due diligence with predictable monthly cost

  • Operating company. Admincontrol AS
  • Jurisdiction. EEA, not EU (Norway)
  • Where the data sits. European data centres
  • Source code. Closed source
  • Replaces. Datasite, Intralinks

Admincontrol is an Oslo company that comes at board work from the deal side, which shows in its prices: a preparation portal at GBP 250 a month with unlimited sell-side users, and a virtual data room from GBP 685 a month with 500 MB of storage. Payment is by monthly invoice with 30 days notice, and the plan matrix lists Q&A management, redaction, reporting and AI-powered search.

Admincontrol AS has its headquarters at Dronning Mauds gate 3 and offices in the Nordics, the United Kingdom and France, and its About page states it is part of Euronext Corporate Solutions. It lists ISO 27001:2022, SOC 2 Type II and Cyber Essentials Plus. The limits are practical: 500 MB goes quickly in a document-heavy deal, overage is GBP 0.90 per MB, and exporting the room to an encrypted USB costs GBP 250 for the first export.

What Admincontrol does well

  • Monthly prices published on the website
  • Unlimited sell-side and buy-side users in the data room plan
  • ISO 27001:2022 and SOC 2 Type II listed
  • Offices in the Nordics, UK and France
  • Six interface languages

Where Admincontrol falls short

  • 500 MB included storage, GBP 0.90 per MB overage
  • Prices shown in GBP
  • Encrypted USB export is charged
  • Board portals are a large part of the business

Standout feature. Admincontrol is the only vendor here that prints a monthly price for both a preparation portal and a virtual data room.

#3 DiliTrust

Paris La Défense, France Not published; quote on request Demo on request

Best for: Listed or regulated companies and legal departments that want board papers, contracts and entity records in one French suite

  • Operating company. DiliTrust SAS
  • Jurisdiction. EU (France)
  • Where the data sits. Sovereign hosting options offered (provider and region not named on the board portal page)
  • Source code. Closed source
  • Replaces. Diligent Boards, Diligent Entities

DiliTrust treats the board portal as one door into a governance suite. During a live meeting the platform handles voting, signatures, attendance and discussion in one environment, directors have a dedicated mobile app, and the wider suite adds contract lifecycle, matter management and entity management. AI covers audio transcription, minutes generation, summaries and a risk detector, with a choice between its own models and external ones according to the vendor.

DiliTrust SAS has its address at Tour Opus in Paris La Défense, and the French company register shows DiliTrust Group SAS as president of the operating company with French officers. The site lists offices in Montreal, Dubai, Madrid, Milan, Mexico City, Berlin, Munich and Philadelphia, and claims more than 2,400 clients and 120,000 users, which are vendor figures. The security page states ISO 27001, ISO 27701 and SOC 2. No price is published and the hosting provider is not named.

What DiliTrust does well

  • French company with French group management
  • ISO 27001, ISO 27701 and SOC 2 stated
  • Voting, signatures and attendance in the meeting
  • Board portal, contracts and entities in one suite
  • 24/7 multilingual support stated

Where DiliTrust falls short

  • Quote-only pricing
  • Suite scope can be more than a board needs
  • Offices outside Europe
  • Hosting details not on the pages read

Standout feature. DiliTrust is the only French suite here that joins a board portal with contract, matter and entity management under one vendor.

#4 Boardwise

Hamburg, Germany Not published; pricing request form Demo on request

Best for: German and DACH supervisory boards and executive offices that already run Microsoft 365

  • Operating company. Boardwise GmbH
  • Jurisdiction. EU (Germany)
  • Where the data sits. Runs in the customer's own Microsoft 365 / Azure environment; data stays in the customer's infrastructure per the vendor
  • Source code. Closed source
  • Replaces. Diligent Boards

Boardwise is built on an unusual premise: the portal is not a hosted service but runs within the customer's existing Microsoft 365 and Azure environment, so authentication, permissions and document storage remain in the customer's tenant. The workflow follows preparation, execution and follow-up, with mandate tracking, and AI suggestions for agendas, document summaries and minutes.

Boardwise GmbH is registered at the Hamburg District Court under HRB 157964 at Nobistor 10, with Sven Rebbert, Dr. Boris Häfele and Dr. Gisbert Grasses named as managing directors, and more than 50 employees from six countries per the about page. The vendor reports over 3,000 users and customers such as E.ON, Henkel, Stihl and Axel Springer. Sovereignty is only as strong as the Microsoft tenant, no price is published, and implementation averages three to five weeks.

What Boardwise does well

  • Runs inside the customer's Microsoft tenant
  • German company registered in Hamburg
  • AI agenda and minute support
  • Reference customers across industry and energy
  • Site offered in German, English, French and several other languages

Where Boardwise falls short

  • Needs Microsoft 365 and Azure
  • Quote only
  • Implementation takes 3 to 5 weeks
  • Sovereignty depends on tenant setup

Standout feature. Boardwise is the only portal here that stores nothing in a vendor-operated cloud, because it runs inside the buyer's own Microsoft tenant.

#5 Orgbrain

Oslo, Norway Founded 2017 From about NOK 199 to 239 per user per month on annual billing, founder companies from NOK 439 per company per month with six users included, excluding VAT; enterprise on request Demo on request

Best for: Norwegian companies, groups and boards that want AI help in meetings and a visible price list

  • Operating company. Orgbrain AS
  • Jurisdiction. EEA, not EU (Norway)
  • Where the data sits. Documents stored in Norway; infrastructure on Amazon Web Services in Europe and Microsoft Azure in Norway
  • Source code. Closed source
  • Replaces. Diligent Boards

Orgbrain packs the board portal, the general meeting, a share register, tasks and a data room for due diligence into one Norwegian subscription, and every user gets e-signature, an AI assistant and access to Orgbrain Academy, an online board school. Prices are shown in NOK excluding VAT: roughly 199 to 239 per user per month on annual billing, and a founder plan from NOK 439 per company with six users.

Orgbrain AS is registered in Oslo under organisation number 918785892 and was founded in 2017, with related companies Orgbrain Solutions AS and Orgbrain VDR AS. Documents are stored in Norway, while the infrastructure runs on Amazon Web Services in Europe and Microsoft Azure in Norway, and the company states ISO 27001:2022. The product pages are in Norwegian, the AI model provider is not named, and the tiers depend on turnover, so the calculator sets the final number.

What Orgbrain does well

  • Documents stored in Norway
  • ISO 27001:2022 stated
  • Prices visible on the pricing page
  • Share register and data room included
  • AI assistant for all subscribers

Where Orgbrain falls short

  • Norwegian-language pages

  • AI provider not named

Standout feature. Orgbrain is the only tool here that includes an online board school with every subscription.

#6 Fabasoft Boards

Linz, Austria Not published on the pages read; demo booking Demo on request

Best for: Banks, insurers and public-sector boards in DACH that need FINMA, BaFin or FMA alignment

  • Operating company. Fabasoft AG
  • Jurisdiction. EU (Austria)
  • Where the data sits. Selectable: Switzerland, Austria or Germany
  • Source code. Closed source
  • Replaces. Diligent Boards

Fabasoft Boards is aimed at institutions that have to show their supervisor how the board papers are protected. The vendor lists BSI C5, ISO standards and the EU Cloud Code of Conduct, an audit trail, versioning with a time-travel function, granular permissions and alignment with FINMA, BaFin and FMA, and integrated AI that summarises documents and answers questions about them.

Fabasoft AG is registered in Linz under FN 271303a at Honauerstrasse 4. The product page calls the software Swiss-made and not subject to the US CLOUD Act, while the imprint shows the Austrian address, and which Fabasoft company signs the Boards contract is not stated. The quoted saving of three hours per manager per meeting is the vendor's claim with no method behind it. There is no list price, only a demo booking.

What Fabasoft Boards does well

  • Data location selectable in Switzerland, Austria or Germany
  • BSI C5, ISO and EU Cloud CoC stated
  • Audit trail and version history
  • AI summaries and Q&A
  • Alignment with FINMA, BaFin and FMA stated

Where Fabasoft Boards falls short

  • Quote or demo only
  • Contracting entity not named for Boards
  • Vendor time-saving claims unverified
  • Part of a larger Fabasoft platform

Standout feature. Fabasoft Boards is the only portal here where the customer chooses Switzerland, Austria or Germany as the data location.

#7 Diliforce

Helsinki, Finland Founded 2014 Standard plan EUR 8.70 per user per month billed annually (USD 9.50 on the dollar toggle); 14-day free trial Demo on request

Best for: Growing companies that want board papers, contracts and entity records in one platform at a published per-user price

The Standard plan costs EUR 8.70 per user per month billed annually, or USD 9.50 on the dollar toggle, with a 14-day free trial.

ContractZen Oy, which trades as Diliforce since a June 2026 announcement, has its registered address at Eteläesplanadi 2 in Helsinki and has been in the Finnish trade register since 2014. The site is offered in English, German and Finnish, and the footer lists a Palo Alto address next to Helsinki. The pages read do not say where documents are stored or how formal voting works, so those two questions belong in the first demo.

What Diliforce does well

  • Published price of EUR 8.70 per user per month (annual)
  • Board portal, contracts, entities and data rooms in one login
  • Finnish company registered since 2014
  • Free 14-day trial without a card
  • English, German and Finnish site

Where Diliforce falls short

  • Data location not stated
  • Recently renamed from ContractZen
  • Palo Alto office alongside Helsinki

Standout feature. Diliforce is the only suite in this category that publishes a euro per-user price, a free trial and a bundled contract module on the same page.

#8 Styreplan

Oslo, Norway Founded 2000 NOK 219 per person per month for companies and groups, NOK 189 for foundations and cultural institutions, excluding VAT; no binding period Demo on request

Best for: Norwegian boards that want fixed per-person pricing with BankID and storage included

  • Operating company. Styreplan AS
  • Jurisdiction. EEA, not EU (Norway)
  • Where the data sits. Norwegian servers; all development in Norway
  • Source code. Closed source
  • Replaces. Diligent Boards

Styreplan sells the full product to everyone at a flat price per person: NOK 219 per month for companies, groups and municipal companies, NOK 189 for foundations, cultural institutions and industry organisations, excluding VAT. BankID login and signing, a data room without a space limit, phone, email and chat support, an annual wheel and a share register are all inside that fee, and there is no binding period.

Styreplan AS is registered in Oslo under organisation number 982461715 at Bogstadveien 27B, and says it was founded in October 2000 with Norwegian customers since 2004. The security page states ISO 27001, Norwegian servers and development entirely in Norway, and the vendor reports 99.98 percent uptime and 94,000 signatures handled, which are its own figures. The site is Norwegian, and listed or supervised companies are sent to a custom quote.

What Styreplan does well

  • Flat NOK price per person, storage included
  • Norwegian servers and development
  • ISO 27001 stated
  • BankID signing at no extra cost
  • No binding period

Where Styreplan falls short

  • Norwegian-language site
  • Regulated companies need a custom quote
  • BankID focus limits non-Norwegian users
  • Small vendor

Standout feature. Styreplan is the only tool here with one fixed price per person that already covers BankID signing and unlimited data room storage.

#9 Bård

Karmøy, Norway Founded 2021 From NOK 690 per month per company (up to 5 board members); BankID signature NOK 15 each Demo on request

Best for: Norwegian companies, associations and sports clubs that want a fixed price per board

  • Operating company. Bård Styreportal AS
  • Jurisdiction. EEA, not EU (Norway)
  • Where the data sits. Stored in Norway on Microsoft Azure (data centre ISO-certified per vendor)
  • Source code. Closed source
  • Replaces. Diligent Boards

Bård prices the board instead of the seat: NOK 690 a month per limited company for up to five board members, with advisers, auditors and other roles free and no binding period. The price list names an AI assistant that knows the board's documents, meeting transcription with a minute draft, an archive with unlimited storage, templates and a board evaluation, and login by BankID, Google or Microsoft with two-factor authentication.

Bård Styreportal AS is registered under organisation number 926476327, with the Norwegian register showing registration in January 2021 and a Karmøy address, and the vendor says more than 2,000 boards use the portal. Data is stored in Norway on Microsoft Azure in a data centre the vendor says is ISO-certified. A BankID signature costs NOK 15, signing without BankID is free, and the pages do not detail plans for large boards or groups.

What Bård does well

  • Fixed price per board, advisers free
  • Data stored in Norway
  • AI assistant and meeting transcription included
  • No binding period
  • Free signing without BankID

Where Bård falls short

  • Azure underneath
  • BankID signature NOK 15 each
  • Norwegian-language site
  • Young company

Standout feature. Bård is the only tool here that treats advisers and auditors as free seats on a fixed per-board price.

#10 BetterBoard

Kolding, Denmark Not published; contact the vendor Demo on request

Best for: Danish companies, housing associations and boards that want MitID signing and Danish support

  • Operating company. BetterBoard ApS
  • Jurisdiction. EU (Denmark)
  • Where the data sits. Not stated on the pages read
  • Source code. Closed source
  • Replaces. Diligent Boards

BetterBoard is a Danish-developed portal built around a digital meeting book, a minute function, an AI assistant, annotation and an annual calendar. Signing works with MitID and with Swedish and Norwegian BankID, and an observer role lets auditors or lawyers see selected workspaces only, with a log centre and two-factor login for control.

BetterBoard ApS publishes the site from Kolding Åpark 1 in Kolding, Denmark. Data is encrypted with TLS in transit and AES-256 at rest, and the same vendor sells a data room for deals, capital raising and due diligence. What the pages read leave out matters as much: no price, no hosting location, no certification and no ownership description, and the pages are in Danish. Ask for those four items in writing before a pilot.

What BetterBoard does well

  • Danish-developed with Danish support
  • MitID and Nordic BankID signing
  • AI assistant and minute function
  • Observer role for auditors and lawyers
  • Data room from the same vendor

Where BetterBoard falls short

  • Price on request
  • Danish-language pages
  • Hosting location not stated
  • No certifications listed on the pages read

Standout feature. BetterBoard is the only tool here that signs with MitID and with both Swedish and Norwegian BankID.

#11 Boardeaser

Stockholm, Sweden Not published; tailored quote, 30-day free trial Demo on request

Best for: Swedish companies, housing associations and investment firms that want board work and financial reporting from one vendor

  • Operating company. Boardeaser AB
  • Jurisdiction. EU (Sweden)
  • Where the data sits. Not stated on the pages read (security page refers to the Fortnox group)
  • Source code. Closed source
  • Replaces. Diligent Boards

Boardeaser places the board portal next to the numbers. Agendas, minutes, permission levels and a document archive sit beside automated financial analysis, group consolidation and annual accounts, so a board member can read the organisation's reporting in the same place as the meeting papers. A digital share register and contract handling complete the governance side, and a 30-day free trial is offered.

Boardeaser AB has organisation number 556930-6664 and its address at Linnégatan 89 in Stockholm, with a second office in Linköping. The security page says it has been part of the Fortnox group since 2024, and Fortnox's own site shows a takeover offer from a consortium of EQT X and First Kraft, both Swedish. Prices need a quote, the pages read are in Swedish, the data location is not stated and formal voting is not described.

What Boardeaser does well

  • Swedish company within the Fortnox group
  • Board portal plus financial reporting and consolidation
  • Digital share register and contract handling
  • 30-day free trial
  • Free support included in subscriptions per the vendor

Where Boardeaser falls short

  • Quote-only pricing
  • Swedish-language pages
  • Data location not stated
  • Group owned via a PE consortium

Standout feature. Boardeaser is the only tool here that brings financial reporting and group consolidation into the board portal.

#12 Tudu Styreportal

Hønefoss, Norway Founded 2016 NOK 4,500 one-off setup, NOK 5,500 per year licence including one user, NOK 45 per extra user per month, excluding VAT Demo on request

Best for: Small Norwegian companies, housing co-operatives and clubs that want a low fixed cost

  • Operating company. Tudu AS
  • Jurisdiction. EEA, not EU (Norway)
  • Where the data sits. Data stored within the EU/EEA according to the vendor
  • Source code. Closed source
  • Replaces. Diligent Boards

Tudu Styreportal is built for boards that need a small, dependable routine at a low cost: agendas with drag-and-drop, proposals for decisions per case, invitations, minutes written in the meeting, tasks with owner and deadline, an annual wheel and a share register. Modules adapt to companies, chains, housing co-operatives and sports clubs, and the vendor's five-user example costs NOK 12,160 in the first year and NOK 7,660 afterwards, excluding VAT.

Tudu AS is registered in Ringerike under organisation number 916847564, says it was established in Hønefoss in 2016 and reports more than 3,000 users in Norway across six solutions. The site says all data is stored within the EU or EEA under a standard data processing agreement. Two-factor login by SMS is announced for the fourth quarter of 2026, a dedicated mobile app is still in development, and no certificate is mentioned on the pages read.

What Tudu Styreportal does well

  • Lowest published entry price on this page
  • Share register and annual wheel included
  • Data stored in the EU/EEA
  • Pay only for active users
  • Standard DPA with every customer

Where Tudu Styreportal falls short

  • Two-factor login announced, not live
  • No native app yet
  • No certificate listed on the pages read
  • Norwegian-language pages

Standout feature. Tudu Styreportal is the only tool here whose published first-year cost for a five-user board stays under NOK 13,000.

How do you choose a board portal when the vendors look alike on paper?

Start with who the portal is for, because that sorts the twelve tools faster than any feature table. iBabs and DiliTrust are built for formal governance in large organisations, with voting, signatures and attendance handled during the meeting.

Fabasoft Boards targets regulated DACH institutions. Boardwise targets German board offices that already live in Microsoft 365. The Norwegian group of Orgbrain, Styreplan, Bård and Tudu serves limited companies, foundations and clubs, and BetterBoard and Boardeaser do the same in Denmark and Sweden.

Then test the one workflow your board repeats every quarter: build a pack, circulate it, collect annotations, record a decision, sign the minutes. A portal that handles the first four steps and then exports a PDF for signing has moved the problem rather than solved it. The vendor pages say little about exports, so ask each shortlisted vendor to run your last real meeting in a demo tenant.

How are European board portals priced, and what is hidden?

Four different units appear. Diliforce charges EUR 8.70 per user per month on annual billing. Styreplan charges NOK 219 per person per month, or NOK 189 for foundations.

Orgbrain tiers per user from about NOK 199 to 239 per month, with a founder plan at NOK 439 per company for six users. Bård and Tudu price the organisation: NOK 690 a month for up to five board members at Bård, and at Tudu NOK 4,500 setup plus NOK 5,500 a year including one user, with NOK 45 per extra user per month. All Norwegian prices exclude VAT.

Admincontrol is the only one priced in pounds, at GBP 250 a month for the preparation portal and from GBP 685 a month for a data room that includes 500 MB, then GBP 0.90 per MB above that. The charged items to watch are Bård's NOK 15 per BankID signature, Admincontrol's encrypted USB export and iBabs add-ons such as the public portal and AI transcripts. Several vendors publish nothing, so budget a quote cycle for them.

Does a European board portal keep the papers out of US reach?

A European contracting entity is the minimum, and every tool in the grid meets it. The infrastructure is a second layer, and here the pages differ. iBabs runs on Microsoft Azure and names no region. Orgbrain uses Amazon Web Services in Europe and Microsoft Azure in Norway. Bård stores data in Norway on Azure. Boardwise runs in the customer's own Microsoft environment, so the answer depends on that tenant.

Fabasoft Boards is the clearest on location, with a choice between Switzerland, Austria and Germany. Styreplan says Norwegian servers and Norwegian development, and Tudu says the EU or EEA. DiliTrust offers sovereign hosting options without naming provider or region, and Diliforce, BetterBoard and Boardeaser give no data location on the pages read. Put a named region and the sub-processor list in the contract rather than relying on the website.

How do you migrate from Diligent Boards or Nasdaq Boardvantage?

Treat it as a records project first and a software project second. Export the current year's board books, signed minutes and action lists from the old portal, keep a read-only copy of older years outside any portal, and load only live material into the new one. Eleven of the twelve tools list Diligent Boards among the products they replace, iBabs also names Nasdaq Boardvantage, and Admincontrol lists Datasite and Intralinks because it comes from the data room side.

Plan a dual-run for one meeting. Rollout time varies: Boardwise says three to five weeks on average with about three hours of technical configuration, Diliforce says no consultation project or training is needed, and Fabasoft, iBabs and DiliTrust expect a vendor-led setup. Also check the signing scheme. A board that signs with BankID or MitID needs a portal that supports it, which narrows the choice to Bård, Styreplan, Orgbrain and BetterBoard.

When should a company not move to a European board portal?

Stay put if the board is genuinely global and depends on integrations or reporting the European tools do not list. Several tools here are thin in places: Tudu has no native app and its two-factor login is announced for the fourth quarter of 2026, BetterBoard and Diliforce state no data location, and Fabasoft Boards names no contracting entity for the product.

Also stay put if the real cost is change management, not licence fees. A board that signs off its minutes in a working routine, with a secretary who knows the old portal well, gains little from a cheaper tool that costs two quarters of confusion. Move when a contract renewal, a regulator question or a data location requirement forces the issue, and use that date to run a proper pilot.

What else should the portal connect to?

Microsoft 365 is the common denominator. iBabs lists a Microsoft 365 integration and offline access, and Boardwise is built on Microsoft 365 and Azure. Beyond that the integration story is mostly about adjacent records. DiliTrust and Diliforce add contracts and entities, Orgbrain, Styreplan, Tudu and Boardeaser add a share register, and Admincontrol and BetterBoard add a data room for deals and due diligence.

For Nordic companies the useful integrations are identity and filing: BankID and MitID signing, and in Styreplan's case documents ready for the Brønnøysund Register. Ask whether the integration is native or a connector you have to maintain, and who owns the keys when the contract ends.

How we selected and ranked these 12 tools

Every tool on this page is in the European Purpose directory, which means the operating company is established in Europe and we have verified that from the company register or the vendor's own legal notice rather than from a marketing page. Tools headquartered outside Europe are not eligible, however good they are.

  1. Feature verification (weight: 40%). We check each capability against the vendor's own documentation and product pages, and record what the tool does rather than what the category is assumed to include.
  2. Ease of adoption (weight: 30%). Integrations, published API access, trial availability and how much configuration stands between signing and a usable result.
  3. Value and transparency (weight: 30%). Published pricing counts in a vendor's favour; quote-only pricing is recorded as quote-only rather than estimated. We weigh what a buyer gets for the entry price, not the headline feature count.
  4. Editorial review. Every page is researched and drafted with AI assistance, and the compliance and pricing claims are checked against the vendor's documentation before it is published under the founder's editorial responsibility. The three weights above decide the order; a position is a ranking against the other European tools in this category, not an absolute score.

Vendor-reported outcomes — ROI figures, margin uplift, time saved — are labelled as vendor claims wherever they appear on this page. We have not audited them, and neither has anyone else who quotes them. Read our full editorial process for how pages are re-verified.

Frequently asked questions

iBabs from the Netherlands is the top-ranked option in this directory for formal governance, with voting, minutes, signatures and stated ISO 27001:2022. DiliTrust from France suits larger legal departments that also need contracts and entities, Fabasoft Boards suits regulated DACH boards that want a chosen data location, and Boardwise suits German companies on Microsoft 365. For Norwegian companies, Styreplan, Bård, Tudu and Orgbrain publish prices that the others do not.

Yes, eleven of the twelve tools here list Diligent Boards among the products they replace. iBabs and DiliTrust are the closest on formal meeting features, Fabasoft Boards on regulated-sector compliance, and Diliforce on a published per-user price. The alternative page for Diligent sets them against each other in detail and says plainly where Diligent has the wider product.

Diliforce lists EUR 8.70 per user per month on annual billing, Styreplan lists NOK 219 per person per month, Bård lists NOK 690 a month per company, Tudu lists NOK 4,500 setup plus NOK 5,500 a year, and Orgbrain shows per-user prices in NOK. Admincontrol shows GBP prices for its preparation portal and data room. iBabs uses a calculator without amounts in the page source, and DiliTrust, Boardwise, Fabasoft Boards, BetterBoard and Boardeaser quote on request.

Diliforce offers a 14-day free trial that the vendor says needs no card, and Boardeaser offers a 30-day free trial. The other tools in this category are listed with a demo on request. A trial is worth less than a demo with your own last board pack, so ask for a sandbox that you can populate with real structure but dummy content.

Bård supports BankID signing at NOK 15 per signature, with free signing available without BankID. Styreplan includes BankID login and signing in its per-person price, and Orgbrain lists e-signature for all users. BetterBoard signs with MitID and with Swedish and Norwegian BankID, and Tudu includes signing in its licence. iBabs and DiliTrust list electronic signatures in a more general form.

Yes. Tudu has the lowest published entry price, NOK 4,500 setup plus NOK 5,500 a year including one user, and Bård charges NOK 690 a month per company for up to five board members with advisers free. Styreplan has a lower per-person rate for foundations at NOK 189. All three are Norwegian-language products, so a club outside Norway should look at Diliforce, which publishes its price in euros.
