European Alternatives to Runn

Looking for a European alternative to Runn? Runn is a resource management and capacity planning product operated by Runn Fast Limited, whose terms and privacy statement are governed by New Zealand law, and the privacy statement says personal information may be transferred to New Zealand, Australia, the EU, Canada and the United States.

The pricing page lists Lite at $7 and Standard at $11 per resource seat per month in US dollars, with Advanced on request and SAML SSO only on Advanced.

The European tools below cover capacity planning, scheduling and utilization under a contracting entity in the EU, EEA, UK or Switzerland, with pricing by person, by resource or on request.

How we rank these tools — 4-step process
  1. 1
    European ownership, verified

The company is headquartered and incorporated in the EU, EEA, the UK, Switzerland or Israel, and processes customer data in Europe or Israel. A US parent company disqualifies a tool from this page regardless of where its servers are.

  2. 2
    Category fit and hands-on review

What the tool actually does, who it suits, and where it falls short — checked against the vendor’s own documentation, changelog and pricing page rather than its marketing copy.

  3. 3
    Compliance and pricing check

GDPR posture, hosting location and the prices quoted on this page are verified against the vendor’s public pricing before publication, and re-checked when we revisit the category.

  4. 4
    Position on this page

Placement on this page can be paid, and that can affect which tools appear here and the order they appear in. It never buys a good review: a tool that fails the checks above is not here at any price, and payment does not change the shortcomings we write about. A vendor can ask us to correct a factual error — not to remove a criticism.

Vendors can pay for visibility on this page. It never changes what an entry says about a product, including the criticism, and we earn nothing when you click through to a vendor. Vendors can pay for more visibility, higher up on the review pages; it never affects which tools are listed. Editorial policy

Key takeaways

  • Runn Fast Limited sells Runn under New Zealand law and prices it in US dollars at $7 (Lite) and $11 (Standard) per resource seat per month.
  • Ganttic from Estonia and Meisterplan from Germany price by schedulable resource with unlimited free users, which removes the per-person seat count Runn uses.
  • Teamdeck from Poland lists a Full Member at $6 and a Light Member at $2 per month, so people who only log hours cost less than a planner seat.
  • Scoro, MOCO and Projektron BCS add quotes and invoices to resource planning, which the Runn pages we read do not describe.
  • Resource Guru Limited is a UK company and Milient Software is Norwegian and Swedish, so not every option here is an EU entity.

Why people leave Runn

Runn plans people against projects. A manager adds every person as a resource, books them on projects with start and end dates, and the product draws capacity, availability and utilization charts from those bookings. The Runn site describes it as resource management and capacity planning software for teams planning people across technical projects, and it lists IT solutions, custom software, architecture and engineering, consulting and agencies as its target industries.

The company behind it is Runn Fast Limited. Its terms of service, last updated on 3 March 2026, are governed by the laws of New Zealand, with the courts of New Zealand as the non-exclusive forum, and all prices are quoted in US dollars. The privacy statement, last dated 23 September 2023, says Runn uses entities in New Zealand, Australia, the European Union, Canada and the United States, and may transfer personal information to parties in those countries.

That is the starting point for most European buyers who look around. Resource data is staff data: names, leave, hourly rates, utilization targets. A firm that wants a contracting party and a court in the EU, the EEA, the UK or Switzerland has to look elsewhere, and a firm that simply dislikes counting seats per person has the same reason to compare.

  • The contract sits under New Zealand law Clause 14.4 of the Runn terms puts any dispute under New Zealand law and in the non-exclusive jurisdiction of New Zealand courts. For a European works council or a procurement team that asks for a counterparty inside the EU, the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, that wording ends the conversation before features are discussed. Every one of the ten European tools on this page names a contracting company in one of those four areas.
  • Every person you plan costs a seat Runn charges per resource seat and states that each person you manage in the service needs one. Lite is listed at $7 and Standard at $11 per seat per month, and the pricing calculator shows $350 and $550 a month for 50 resources. Seats are added automatically when a person is added to the planner, so a hiring wave or a batch of contractors raises the invoice without a separate order.
  • Fees are in dollars, billed ahead and not refunded The terms say all pricing is in USD, fees are billed in advance monthly or annually and are non-refundable, and subscriptions renew automatically. Runn may change the fee at any time with 30 days notice. An annual plan gives no pro-rating when seats are removed during the term. A euro budget therefore carries an exchange-rate line and a calendar reminder for the cancellation window.
  • Single sign-on and richer reporting sit in the top plan According to the pricing page, SAML single sign-on, unlimited custom fields, unlimited reports and workstreams belong to Advanced, which has no listed price. Lite and Standard get Google-only sign-on. A firm with an identity provider and an information security review will land on a quote request, and the same is true of Meisterplan, Ganttic above the free tier and Milient Resource Flow.

What you have to replace, not just match

Moving off Runn means rebuilding the planning layer, not copying a list of names.

The core objects are people with skills and tags, projects with phases and milestones, tentative bookings, placeholders for hires you have not made, rate cards and project budgets. Runn also compares planned against actual hours, so any timesheet history you have in it needs a home. Standard adds timesheets, five custom fields, an API and out-of-the-box integrations, which are the parts most likely to be wired into other systems.

Decide first how much of that you want back. Resource Guru, Ganttic, Teamdeck and Milient Resource Flow rebuild the scheduling calendar and leave handling. Meisterplan moves the question up a level, to portfolio capacity and scenarios.

Scoro, MOCO and Projektron BCS also take over quotes, budgets and invoices, which Runn does not issue in the pages we read. If you only want the plan, pick a scheduler; if you want to retire a second tool at the same time, pick a PSA.

Your own export is the other half of the job. The Runn terms ask you to keep a separate back-up copy of all customer data, and the pricing page lists a CSV bulk importer and reports that can be exported on every plan. Pull project lists, people, rates and bookings before you cancel, and check each European vendor for its own import path, because only some of the ten publish one.

How each alternative compares to Runn

#1

Resource Guru

Booking calendar for people, equipment and rooms from a UK company, simpler than Runn

United KingdomGrasshopper $5, Blackbelt $8, Master $12 per person per month (USD, billed monthly); lower with annual billing#8 in Professional Services Automation (PSA) Software

Best for: Agencies and consultancies that want a calm resource calendar with leave and timesheets and handle billing elsewhere

Against Runn, Resource Guru covers the daily act of booking: a shared calendar for people, equipment and rooms, tentative or repeated bookings, a clash warning and leave on the same view. It adds timesheets that fill from bookings, with approvals on the Master plan. Runn leans harder on forecasting, skills and phases inside projects, so a firm that models demand by phase will feel the gap.

The contracting party is Resource Guru Limited in England and Wales, with an EU representative in Ireland, so the UK counts as European here but is outside the EEA. Prices run from $5 to $12 per person per month in US dollars, hosting is on Google Cloud with no region stated, and SOC 2 Type II is claimed. Dollar pricing is shared with Runn.

What Resource Guru does better than Runn

  • Equipment and meeting room booking on the same calendar as people
  • A UK contracting party and EU representative instead of New Zealand law
  • A published entry of $5 per person against $7 per Runn seat
  • SOC 2 Type II stated on its security page

Where Resource Guru is a step down from Runn

  • No quotes or invoices in the pages we checked, as with Runn
  • Hosting region unstated, on Google Cloud
  • Fewer forecasting and workforce reports than Runn's Advanced plan

Standout against Runn. Resource Guru pairs a shared booking calendar with a timesheet that fills itself from what was booked, at a $5 starting price.

#2

Ganttic

Estonian Gantt scheduler priced by resource count with unlimited free users

Tartu, EstoniaFree for up to 10 resources with unlimited free users; paid PRO plans priced by resource count, no published rate card; custom packages for 1,500+ resources#12 in Project Management

Best for: Teams scheduling people, machines and rooms across many projects who want viewers without paying per seat

Ganttic shows the whole plan as a drag-and-drop Gantt chart of people, equipment and rooms across every project at once, where Runn is organised around capacity charts and project forecasts. The pricing flips too: users are free and unlimited, cost follows the number of resources, and the free tier stops at 10 resources. A 14-day trial needs no card.

Ganttic OÜ is based in Tartu, Estonia, and hosts on AWS in Frankfurt, Germany. That is a clearer data location than Runn's list of countries. The cost is opacity: no rate card is published beyond the free tier, and the tool is resource scheduling only, with no task boards, sprints or invoicing. It sits beside a project tool rather than replacing one.

What Ganttic does better than Runn

  • Unlimited free users, so managers and clients view the plan without a seat
  • A stated AWS Frankfurt hosting location
  • A permanent free tier up to 10 resources, where Runn has a 30-day trial
  • Machines and rooms are scheduled as first-class resources

Where Ganttic is a step down from Runn

  • No published price above the free tier
  • No project budgets or rate cards of the kind Runn lists
  • Scheduling only: no tasks and no billing

Standout against Runn. Ganttic charges for what is scheduled rather than who looks at it, which makes it the cheapest way to show a plan to a large audience.

Milient Resource Flow

Nordic capacity planner with skills search and forecast reports, formerly Hub Planner

Oslo, NorwayPricing on request (the Milient pricing page covers Project Flow: monthly fee per user, no free plan)#3 in Resource Management and Capacity Planning Software

Best for: Architecture, engineering and consulting firms staffing projects from a skills pool and approving timesheets

Milient Resource Flow is the closest functional neighbour to Runn on this page. Its scheduler lets a manager search the pool by skill, role or location, a Forecasted Utilization report shows spare capacity over a date range, and timesheets compare scheduled with reported hours through an approval flow. Vacation and public holidays reduce availability automatically, as in Runn.

Milient Software AS (Oslo, Norway) and Milient Software AB (Sweden) are the vendor, formed in 2023 from several startups including Hub Planner, and Swedish law applies to the terms. The weak points are information: no Resource Flow price is published, no hosting region is stated, and the terms do not say which Milient company signs the contract.

What Milient Resource Flow does better than Runn

  • Nordic vendor group instead of New Zealand governing law
  • Skills, role and location search over the resource pool
  • A ready-made forecasted utilization report
  • Timesheet approvals compared with scheduled hours

Where Milient Resource Flow is a step down from Runn

  • No published price; Runn lists $7 and $11
  • Hosting region and contracting entity not stated
  • Marketing aimed at architects and engineers, with fewer agency examples

Standout against Runn. Milient Resource Flow is the one tool here whose search is built around finding the person with the right skill, role or location for a project.

#4

Teamdeck

Polish resource calendar with a cheap timesheet-only seat

Poznan, PolandFull Member $6 and Light Member $2 per month (USD); Enterprise on request#11 in Professional Services Automation (PSA) Software

Best for: Small creative agencies and software teams that want scheduling and timesheets without a high per-seat cost

Teamdeck keeps the scope narrow: a resource calendar, timesheets, availability and leave, reports with project budgets and a revenue forecast. Its two seat types split the team. Full Members pay $6 a month and plan and track, while Light Members pay $2, are booked, log hours and see their own plan. Runn gives every person the same kind of seat.

Teamdeck sp. z o.o. of Poznan, Poland, is the controller named in the data protection policy. Amazon Web Services is among its processors with no region stated, and prices are in US dollars with no billing period given. It connects to Google Calendar, Slack, Podio, Sage HR and Zapier, plus an API. Against Runn it has no skill matching on the pages we read.

What Teamdeck does better than Runn

  • A cheap $2 Light Member seat for staff whose job is logging hours
  • A Polish company under EU law as contracting party
  • All features available whatever seat mix you choose
  • A $6 full seat against Runn's $7 Lite

Where Teamdeck is a step down from Runn

  • No invoicing and no quotes
  • AWS as processor with no region stated
  • Less depth than a full PSA or Runn's Advanced workforce insights

Standout against Runn. Teamdeck alone charges a timesheet-only person just $2 a month while keeping every feature switched on.

Meisterplan

German portfolio capacity planning with scenarios, priced by schedulable resource

Tübingen, GermanyPriced by number of resources scheduled, unlimited free users; custom quote by resource count (contact sales); 30-day free trial#15 in Project Management

Best for: Mid-size and large organisations checking whether the people exist for every project they have committed to

Meisterplan sits one layer above where Runn usually operates. It is a lean portfolio and resource tool for the question of whether you have the people to run all the projects you have committed to, with scenario planning to test what happens if one starts late. Users are free and unlimited, and the licence follows the number of schedulable resources.

itdesign GmbH, founded in Tübingen in 1999, created Meisterplan in 2012. It carries ISO/IEC 27001:2022, ISO/IEC 27018:2019 and TISAX, plus the Software Made in Germany seal. Pricing is a custom quote with a 30-day trial, and no hosting region is stated beyond the German company. It is not a task board, so day-to-day work stays in another tool.

What Meisterplan does better than Runn

  • Portfolio-level scenario planning for committed projects
  • ISO/IEC 27001:2022, ISO/IEC 27018:2019 and TISAX stated on the product page
  • Unlimited free users while Runn bills every managed person
  • A German contracting company and a 30-day trial that asks for no card

Where Meisterplan is a step down from Runn

  • Quote only, no rate card
  • Overbuilt for a single small team
  • No hosting region stated

Standout against Runn. Meisterplan pairs the heaviest certification list on this page, including TISAX, with a pricing model that never charges for a viewer.

awork

Hamburg agency project tool with a workload view and built-in time tracking

Hamburg, GermanyFrom €5/user/month billed annually (€8 monthly), Standard €12, Professional €22#9 in Project Management

Best for: Agencies that want phases, time and a per-person workload view in one tool at a low per-user price

awork is a project tool first and a planner second. Projects run in phases and time is logged against them. Next to Runn, forecasting is shallower, but the project and the plan share one product that designers and account managers can pick up without training. The workload view shows who is booked, and how heavily, before a deadline is promised.

awork GmbH of Hamburg started in 2019. Its cheapest tier is €5 a month for each user when billed yearly (€8 if paid monthly), with Standard at €12 and Professional at €22, a euro price list where Runn's is in dollars. ISO 27001 is stated and the data sits in Germany on Microsoft infrastructure, so a US provider is in the chain. It has no free plan, only a trial.

What awork does better than Runn

  • Prices in euros, from €5 per user on annual billing
  • Project phases, tasks and time tracking in the same product
  • German hosting, stated on the vendor page
  • A contracting party in the EU

Where awork is a step down from Runn

  • Planning depth: no skills matching or forecast scenarios
  • A US infrastructure provider beneath a German company
  • Not built for software delivery sprints

Standout against Runn. awork publishes its entry price in euros and bundles a project board with the workload view in one subscription.

Scoro

Estonian modular work platform that joins resourcing, quotes and invoices

Tallinn, EstoniaCombinations from €15 per user per month, Quote to Cash €25, End-to-end €52, minimum 5 users#1 in Professional Services Automation (PSA) Software

Best for: Consultancies and agencies of five or more people that want quote-to-cash and planning in one system

Scoro is modular: Do, Deliver, Track, Resource, Sell, Estimate, Spend and Invoice are eight separate apps on one shared data model, so logged hours turn into budgets, margins and invoices. Where Runn stops at plans and forecasts, Scoro continues to the quote and the bill. The entry price is €15 monthly per user for combinations, then €25 for Quote to Cash and €52 for End-to-end.

Scoro Software OÜ is registered in Tallinn, and customers pick the AWS region: Frankfurt, Stockholm, Toronto or Sydney. It states ISO 27001 and GDPR compliance. There is a five-user minimum, no free plan, a 14-day trial and paid onboarding above 15 people. AWS is a US hosting provider, though the contracting entity is Estonian.

What Scoro does better than Runn

  • Quotes, expenses and invoicing in the same system
  • A choice of hosting region, including Frankfurt and Stockholm
  • Xero, QuickBooks and Sage Intacct connections and multi-currency entities
  • An Estonian contracting company and euro-denominated bundles

Where Scoro is a step down from Runn

  • Five-user minimum and no free plan
  • A heavier product than a pure planner
  • AWS as the hosting provider

Standout against Runn. Scoro lets the customer choose the AWS region at signup, a choice the Runn pricing and terms pages we read do not mention.

MOCO

Swiss agency suite where booked hours feed planning and invoices

Binz (Zurich), SwitzerlandPer user, per month#4 in Time Tracking Software

Best for: Agencies of roughly five to a hundred people who need DATEV-ready accounting exports and planning included

MOCO starts from time tracking and builds out to project budgets, planning, offers and invoices. Resource planning comes in the base price rather than a separate tier, and hours, budget and invoice share a single record, which makes profitability a built-in report instead of a spreadsheet exercise. For an agency, that replaces a stack of timer, planner and invoicing tools, which Runn was not designed to do.

MOCO is provided by everii Switzerland GmbH in Zurich, a country with an adequacy decision but outside the EEA, and the product page mentions German hosting. Exports go to DATEV and other German accounting systems. Price is per user per month with no figure on the page we read, and it is less general purpose than Runn.

What MOCO does better than Runn

  • DATEV and German accounting exports
  • Offers, invoices and expenses next to the plan
  • Planning included in the per-user price rather than a higher tier
  • A Swiss company with German hosting

Where MOCO is a step down from Runn

  • No published per-user price on the page we used
  • German-market focus
  • Overkill for a solo freelancer

Standout against Runn. MOCO is the tool on this page whose accounting exports are written for German practice, so a Steuerberater who expects DATEV gets it.

Teamwork.com

Irish client-work platform with resource scheduling and billable time

Cork, IrelandFree up to 5 users / $9.99/user/month (Basics) / $24.99 (Accelerate), billed yearly

Best for: Client-service teams that want projects, scheduling, utilization and invoicing in an Irish-run product

Teamwork.com joins resource scheduling and utilization tracking to billable hours, retainer handling, budgets and invoices beside each project. Compared with Runn, planning is a feature of a wider client-work platform and not the whole product, so a team that only wants capacity charts will use a fraction of the interface.

The vendor, Teamwork Crew Limited, is based in Cork and dates from 2007. Its security claims are ISO/IEC 27001:2022 plus SOC 2 Type 2. Five users can stay on the free tier, while Basics costs $9.99 and Accelerate $24.99 per user per month on yearly billing. Part of the data may sit with a US provider, since hosting is on AWS across US and EU regions.

What Teamwork.com does better than Runn

  • Free tier covering five users
  • Billable time, retainers and invoicing next to the schedule
  • Security attestations include ISO/IEC 27001:2022 alongside SOC 2 Type 2
  • An Irish contracting party inside the EU

Where Teamwork.com is a step down from Runn

  • Per-user pricing in dollars that scales quickly
  • AWS in US and EU regions
  • A dense interface for teams that only plan capacity

Standout against Runn. Teamwork.com makes the invoice a first-class object in the same product as the schedule, with a free plan to test it on.

Projektron BCS

German PSA with ERP depth, resource management and an on-premise option

Berlin, GermanyBCS on-premise licence €300 to €350 per user; BCS.light €200 per licence or €20 per month in the cloud, excluding VAT#5 in Professional Services Automation (PSA) Software

Best for: IT, engineering and consulting firms, especially German-speaking ones, needing PSA with ERP functions or on-premise operation

Projektron BCS goes beyond Runn's planning role. It covers project planning and controlling, multi-project and portfolio management, resource management, time recording, ticketing, quotations, invoicing, CRM, expenses and documents. PRINCE2, IPMA, Scrum and Kanban are all supported, and the interface exists in ten interface languages in the full edition and the leaner BCS.light.

Projektron GmbH is in Berlin, and the vendor claims over 850 customers for BCS. The cloud edition runs at dogado GmbH in Germany, and an on-premise licence is available. Licence prices of €300 to €350 per user are published, while the SaaS price period is not stated. Setup takes longer than for a lightweight planner.

What Projektron BCS does better than Runn

  • On-premise operation, which Runn does not offer on its pricing page
  • Published licence prices in euros
  • Cloud edition run by dogado GmbH inside Germany
  • Ticketing, CRM and invoicing under one licence

Where Projektron BCS is a step down from Runn

  • Wide scope and a longer setup
  • Training and consulting sold separately
  • Heavier than a SaaS-only capacity planner

Standout against Runn. Projektron BCS can uniquely run on your own servers as well as in a German cloud.

projektron.de/en Visit Projektron BCS

What actually breaks when you switch

The first break is the seat model. A Runn invoice counts resource seats, while Ganttic and Meisterplan count schedulable resources and Teamdeck counts Full and Light Members.

Recount your headcount under the new rule before you sign, including contractors, equipment and people on leave, because the same team can land on very different totals. The Runn terms also bill in advance and do not refund, and an annual plan has a 30-day notice window before renewal, so time the move around that date.

The second break is data and habits. Planned versus actual hours, rate cards, project budgets and placeholder hires have no standard exchange format, so expect to re-enter some of them or load them through CSV.

Skills and tags need re-mapping, as Milient searches by skill, role and location and Scoro and MOCO keep resources inside a larger project model. Plan one parallel month, and agree in advance who owns the integration with your accounting package, because Scoro, MOCO and Projektron BCS change that integration most.

Is Runn allowed for European staff data under GDPR?

Runn publishes a GDPR page and a data processing agreement, and the privacy statement refers EU and EEA residents to that page. The statement also lists transfers to New Zealand, Australia, Canada and the United States next to the EU. Whether that is acceptable depends on your transfer assessment, not on a rule that forbids the product, and we did not test the data processing agreement itself.

What a European alternative changes is the contract and the forum. With Ganttic OÜ, Scoro Software OÜ, Teamdeck sp. z o.o., itdesign GmbH or awork GmbH the counterparty is an EU company. Hosting is a separate question: Ganttic states AWS in Frankfurt, awork states Germany on Microsoft infrastructure, and Teamdeck and Meisterplan do not state a region on the pages we checked.

What does Runn cost for 20 people compared with the European tools?

At the listed seat prices, 20 resources come to $140 a month on Lite and $220 on Standard, in US dollars, with the billing period not stated on the pricing page. Teamdeck with 20 Full Members is $120 and cheaper if some become $2 Light Members. Resource Guru's plans run from $5 up to $12 for each person each month on monthly billing, per its page.

Ganttic and Meisterplan cannot be priced from here. Ganttic is free up to 10 resources and Meisterplan quotes by resource count, so you need a quote for 20. MOCO lists only per user, per month, and Milient asks for contact. Treat these as list prices from the vendors' pages, not a negotiated outcome.

Which one to pick

If you want a plain scheduler and a European contracting party, start with Resource Guru, Ganttic, Teamdeck or Milient Resource Flow. Pick Ganttic when viewers outnumber planners or when machines and rooms are booked, Teamdeck when many people only log hours, and Resource Guru when a booking calendar with leave is enough. Milient fits firms that search a pool by skill, once the missing price and hosting details are confirmed with the vendor.

If you want to retire a second tool, look at Scoro, MOCO or Projektron BCS, which add quotes and invoices, and at Teamwork.com for billable client work with a free plan to test. Meisterplan is for portfolio questions at a higher level than Runn plans, and awork for agencies that value the workload view in a project tool. Keep Runn if skills matching, scenarios and its API matter more than where the contract is governed.

Frequently Asked Questions

It depends on what you are replacing. Resource Guru from the UK is the closest calendar-style planner, Ganttic from Estonia suits teams that also book equipment and rooms, and Teamdeck from Poland has the cheapest entry seat. Meisterplan from Germany answers portfolio capacity questions, while Scoro and MOCO also cover billing. No single tool wins on every criterion.

The pricing page offers a 30-day free trial of Lite and Standard without a credit card, and Advanced trials go through sales. We did not find a permanent free plan. Ganttic has a free tier up to 10 resources and Teamwork.com gives five users a free plan, so those two are the options if you want to pay nothing.

With Runn each person you manage needs a seat. Ganttic and Meisterplan let any number of colleagues view the plan without a licence, because they charge for the resources being scheduled. Teamdeck lets people who only log time use a $2 Light Member seat, and the vendor says all features are available whatever seat mix you choose.

Resource Guru Limited is a company registered in England and Wales, and MOCO is provided by everii Switzerland GmbH in Zurich. Milient Resource Flow comes from Norwegian and Swedish entities, Norway being EEA but not EU. The other six are EU companies, in Estonia, Poland, Germany and Ireland (Teamwork Crew Limited, Cork).

Export the underlying bookings and hours, not just the charts. Runn lists report export on every plan and a CSV importer for loading data in. Most European tools here have utilization or forecast reports of their own, such as Milient's Forecasted Utilization report and Teamdeck's revenue forecast, but the formulas differ, so numbers for the same quarter will not match exactly.
