European Online Course Platforms

An online course platform hosts lessons, takes payment and manages learners, so it holds customer lists, payment data and the course content itself. These tools are run by companies in the EU, from Greece and Ireland to Germany, France and Bulgaria, and several publish prices in euros with EU hosting.

How we rank these tools — 4-step process
  1. 1
    European ownership, verified

The company is headquartered and incorporated in the EU, EEA or Switzerland, and processes customer data in Europe. A US parent company disqualifies a tool from this page regardless of where its servers are.

  2. 2
    Category fit and hands-on review

What the tool actually does, who it suits, and where it falls short — checked against the vendor’s own documentation, changelog and pricing page rather than its marketing copy.

  3. 3
    Compliance and pricing check

GDPR posture, hosting location and the prices quoted on this page are verified against the vendor’s public pricing before publication, and re-checked when we revisit the category.

  4. 4
    Position on this page

Placement on this page can be paid, and that can affect the order tools appear in. It never buys a listing: a tool that fails the checks above is not here at any price, and payment does not change the shortcomings we write about. A vendor can ask us to correct a factual error — not to remove a criticism.

Vendors can pay for visibility on this page. It never changes what an entry says about a product, including the criticism, and we earn nothing when you click through to a vendor. Paid placement can affect the order in which tools appear; it never affects whether a tool is listed. Editorial policy

Key takeaways

  • LearnWorlds ranks first among the European online course platforms in this directory because it is the one that combines in-video questions, a site and funnel builder, memberships and white-label apps in a single product from a Greek and Cypriot company.
  • Memberspot in Ludwigsburg and systeme.io in Dublin both list 0% transaction fees on their paid plans, while Teachizy takes a 9% commission on its free plan and Podia, the American incumbent, takes 5% on its entry plan.
  • Teachizy states servers in France, LearningSuite states Frankfurt, edudip states German servers and systeme.io states AWS in Ireland, but Spreadmind and systeme.io run on AWS and LearnyBox's legal notice names AWS as its site host, so a European address does not always mean a European cloud.
  • systeme.io, Teachizy and LearnyBox are the three platforms here with a permanent free plan, and Coachy (30 days) and Memberspot (14 days) offer trials without a card.
  • DigiMember is the only tool in this category that is not a hosted service: it is a WordPress plugin at EUR 47 a month, and the member data stays in the database of whoever hosts the site.

European online course platforms are the software that hosts lessons, takes payment and manages learners for creators and training businesses, built by companies established in the EU, so the learner list, the payment trail and the course content sit under European contracts and European supervisory authorities instead of American ones.

Every European online course platform reviewed

#1 LearnWorlds

Limassol / Athens, Greece Founded 2014 From about $29/month / higher tiers remove transaction fees Demo on request

Best for: Creators and training businesses selling their own courses

  • Operating company. LearnWorlds Ltd
  • Jurisdiction. EU (Greece)
  • Where the data sits. EU
  • Source code. Closed source
  • Replaces. Teachable, Kajabi, Thinkific, Udemy marketplace

LearnWorlds is the platform in this list that treats the video as the main teaching surface. Questions, links and downloads sit directly on the timeline, so a learner answers while watching, and the completion data shows the exact point where viewers leave.

Around that sits a full commercial layer: a site builder, funnels, memberships and subscriptions, affiliate management, certificates, SCORM and white-label mobile apps on the higher tiers. Pricing starts from about $29 a month, and the higher tiers remove the transaction fees that the lower ones charge.

The contracting company is LearnWorlds Ltd, working from Limassol and Athens, and the site lists the product as founded in 2014 with EU hosting and GDPR handling. Setup takes real effort, the lower tiers carry transaction fees, and it brings no audience of its own, so every student is one you recruited.

What LearnWorlds does well

  • Genuinely interactive video with in-timeline questions
  • Site builder, funnels and memberships included
  • You own the brand and the customer list
  • White-label mobile apps on higher tiers
  • EU hosting and GDPR handling

Where LearnWorlds falls short

  • Takes real time to set up well
  • Transaction fees on lower tiers
  • Brings no audience of its own

Standout feature. It places quiz questions and links inside the video timeline itself, which no other platform here describes.

#2 Memberspot

Ludwigsburg, Germany Starter EUR 49/month, Grow EUR 119, Scale EUR 249, Enterprise from EUR 500 (monthly billing, net of VAT; about 20 percent lower when billed yearly); 14-day trial without a card Demo on request

Best for: German-speaking coaches and training businesses that want a course area with their own branding and no per-sale fee

  • Operating company. Memberspot GmbH
  • Jurisdiction. EU (Germany)
  • Where the data sits. EU hosting stated by the vendor; hosting provider not named on the pages we read
  • Source code. Closed source
  • Replaces. Podia, Kajabi, Teachable

Memberspot is a member-area builder for coaches and training companies that want their lessons, exams and community under their own name.

Four plans run from EUR 49 to EUR 500 a month, and all four list a 0% transaction fee, so a sale costs only the payment provider's cut. Starter holds 1 course, 100 members and 1 admin; Grow at EUR 119 raises that to 2,500 members and adds a custom domain, DRM protection and a web app; Scale and Enterprise add AI search, an AI assistant, single sign-on and SCORM.

Memberspot GmbH is registered at Amtsgericht Stuttgart and based in Ludwigsburg, and the vendor states EU hosting without naming the provider. The product is German-first, which thins the experience for English-speaking sellers, and it is not the merchant of record, so VAT and invoicing stay with you. Which tier includes the own-brand apps is not spelled out on the pricing page, so ask before choosing Starter.

What Memberspot does well

  • 0% transaction fee on all plans
  • EU hosting stated by the vendor
  • Exams, quizzes and certificates from the first plan
  • Community module and own-brand apps
  • 14-day trial without a card

Where Memberspot falls short

  • Starter limited to 1 course and 100 members
  • German-first site and support
  • Hosting provider not named
  • Not a merchant of record, VAT stays with you

Standout feature. It is the only platform here that lists a 0% transaction fee on every plan, cheapest included.

#3 Systeme.io

Dublin, Ireland Free $0/month; Startup $17/month; Webinar $47/month; Unlimited $97/month (prices in USD as published by the vendor) Demo on request

Best for: Solo sellers and small businesses who want courses, funnels, email and a blog in one account, starting at no cost

  • Operating company. ITACWT Limited
  • Jurisdiction. EU (Ireland)
  • Source code. Closed source
  • Replaces. ClickFunnels, Leadpages, Kartra

Systeme.io starts from a page and funnel builder and wraps the rest of an online business around it: email automation, a course and membership area, a blog and an affiliate programme.

The Free plan costs $0, needs no card and still holds 2,000 contacts, 3 funnels, 1 course, 1 blog and a custom domain. Startup at $17 a month lifts it to 5,000 contacts and unlimited funnels, Webinar at $47 adds evergreen webinars, and Unlimited at $97 removes the contact cap and adds sub-accounts and a free migration service.

The entity behind it is ITACWT Limited, registered in Dublin, and the privacy policy states customer data is hosted on AWS servers in Ireland and is not transferred outside the European Union. Prices are published in US dollars, the vendor pages do not state a founding year, and a bundled builder is less specialised than a dedicated tool such as Landingi. AWS is American-owned even when the region is Irish, which some procurement policies treat as a distinction.

What Systeme.io does well

  • Permanent free plan with 3 funnels, a course and a custom domain
  • Unlimited funnels from $17 a month
  • 0% transaction fees on every paid plan
  • Irish entity with data on AWS Ireland
  • Email, courses, blog and affiliate programme in one subscription

Where Systeme.io falls short

  • Prices published in USD, not euros
  • No founding year or detailed template counts stated
  • Page builder less specialised than a dedicated tool such as Landingi
  • Hosted on AWS, a US provider, albeit in Ireland

Standout feature. A free account includes funnels, a course, a blog and a custom domain, which most rivals reserve for paid tiers.

#4 Teachizy

Paris, France Free (3 courses, 70 learners, 9% commission); Pro EUR 49/month incl. VAT (EUR 490/year); Expert EUR 99/month incl. VAT (EUR 990/year) Demo on request

Best for: French-speaking trainers and training organisations that need Qualiopi-compatible course delivery with published prices

  • Operating company. MAJ DIGITAL SAS (Teachizy)
  • Jurisdiction. EU (France)
  • Where the data sits. France (vendor states "Serveurs en France")
  • Source code. Closed source
  • Replaces. Podia, Teachable, Thinkific

Teachizy is built for French-speaking trainers who want to publish courses, sell them through branded pages and deliver them in a learner area. The free Découverte plan holds 3 courses and 70 learners with a 9% commission. Pro at EUR 49 a month including VAT removes the limits on learners, courses and sales and adds Stripe instalments, affiliation and abandoned-cart reminders. Expert at EUR 99 adds pack sales, three team members, learner two-factor authentication, forums and a beta SCORM import.

The legal notice names MAJ DIGITAL, a SAS in Paris at 19 Avenue d'Italie, and the vendor states servers in France. Qualiopi and CPF compatibility are the differentiators for anyone selling funded training in France. The cost side: a French-first interface, English only on the Expert plan, SCORM restricted to versions 1.2 and 2004, and no email marketing or webinar tool on the pricing page.

What Teachizy does well

  • Servers in France stated by the vendor
  • Free plan to test
  • Unlimited learners on a single EUR 49 plan
  • Qualiopi compatibility
  • No commitment on monthly plans

Where Teachizy falls short

  • French-first interface
  • 9% commission on the free plan
  • SCORM still in beta
  • No built-in email marketing listed

Standout feature. Qualiopi and CPF compatibility make it the platform for French funded training, which no other tool here targets.

#5 LearnyBox

Montpellier, France Free EUR 0; Launch EUR 39 excl. VAT/month (EUR 390/year); Boost EUR 89 excl. VAT/month (EUR 890/year); higher tiers on the vendor site Demo on request

Best for: French-speaking course sellers who want courses, funnels and email in one account

  • Operating company. SAS LearnyBox
  • Jurisdiction. EU (France)
  • Where the data sits. Not stated on the pages we read; the legal notice says the site is hosted by Amazon Web Services, Inc.
  • Source code. Closed source
  • Replaces. Podia, Kajabi, ClickFunnels

LearnyBox puts a course player, a funnel builder, a CRM, email sequences, live and automated webinars, communities and a website and blog tool in one account. The Free plan allows 1 course for 20 learners, a 10-page funnel, 2,000 CRM contacts and 4,000 emails a month. Launch at EUR 39 excluding VAT adds 10 courses, 100 learners, 10 GB of storage, SCORM and a mobile app, and Boost at EUR 89 removes the course and learner caps.

SAS LearnyBox is based at 1025 Rue Henri Becquerel in Montpellier, and support is described as based in France. The legal notice names Amazon Web Services, Inc. as the host of the site, and the server region for customer data is not stated on the pages we read, so ask for the data processing details. Each module is shallower than a specialist tool, and the interface is French first with an English option.

What LearnyBox does well

  • Permanent free plan
  • Courses, funnels, email and webinars in one account
  • Published prices from EUR 39
  • SCORM and cohorts on paid plans
  • Support based in France

Where LearnyBox falls short

  • 100 learners on Launch
  • Server region not stated
  • French-first interface
  • Bundle is broad rather than deep

Standout feature. It lists GoCardless direct debit and its own Learnypay beside Stripe and PayPal, a wider payment spread than any other tool here.

#6 Coachy

Sofia, Bulgaria Premium EUR 42/month (EUR 35/month billed yearly); Deluxe EUR 78/month (EUR 65/month billed yearly); 30-day free trial, no card Demo on request

Best for: German-speaking coaches who sell through Digistore24 and want a simple member area

  • Operating company. Coachy OOD
  • Jurisdiction. EU (Bulgaria)
  • Where the data sits. EU (vendor: "GDPR Compliant & EU Hosting")
  • Source code. Closed source
  • Replaces. Podia, Teachable, Kajabi

Coachy supplies the protected member area for a course: lessons with video, audio and downloads, two-factor protection, expiring download links and sequential release. Both plans list unlimited members and storage. Premium at EUR 42 a month (EUR 35 on yearly billing) includes a branded area, a coachy.net address, an own-brand app and an AI outline generator; Deluxe at EUR 78 adds 5 staff accesses, 50 automations, a landing page builder and tests and certificates.

Coachy OOD is the contracting company, based in Sofia, and the vendor says data is stored in the EU, with a 30-day trial that needs no card. Selling is handled outside the product: the plans and training content point to Digistore24 and Quentn, so there is no checkout of its own. Premium caps the number of products, though the pricing wording is ambiguous, and the tutorials lean toward the German market.

What Coachy does well

  • 30-day trial without a card
  • Unlimited members and storage
  • Own-brand app on both plans
  • Yearly billing about 2 months free
  • EU hosting stated

Where Coachy falls short

  • Product limits on Premium
  • Built around Digistore24
  • No email or webinar tool
  • German-market focus

Standout feature. Its Deluxe plan wires upsells and downsells directly to Digistore24 products, which suits affiliate-driven German sellers.

#7 LearningSuite

Graz, Austria No public prices; demo call required Demo on request

Best for: Coaches, agencies and companies that want a branded learning academy with white-glove onboarding

  • Operating company. LearningSuite FlexCo
  • Jurisdiction. EU (Austria)
  • Where the data sits. Frankfurt, Germany (vendor: "Server in Frankfurt & DSGVO konform")
  • Source code. Closed source
  • Replaces. Podia, Kajabi, Thinkific

LearningSuite sells a branded academy rather than a self-service course tool. The feature menu lists a drag-and-drop editor, assignment submission, extensive exams, dashboards, video hosting and recording, a mobile app and a community, with a newer AI companion layer called LearningSuite Intelligence. There is no public price and no self-service trial: you book a demo call, and the vendor offers a migration service and VIP support.

LearningSuite FlexCo is at Alte Poststraße 156 in Graz and appears in the Austrian Firmenbuch as FN 556105 b. The homepage says servers are in Frankfurt and the platform is GDPR compliant. The platform is offered in German, English and Polish, and the pages we read do not describe checkout features, so you may need an external payment tool for selling.

What LearningSuite does well

  • Frankfurt servers stated by the vendor
  • Own mobile app and community
  • Migration service offered
  • Individual dashboards and exams
  • Austrian entity with Firmenbuch number

Where LearningSuite falls short

  • No public prices
  • Demo call before any trial
  • Three interface languages
  • Checkout features not described

Standout feature. It is sold through a demo call with a migration service and VIP support, a hands-on model no other tool here offers.

#8 Easy LMS

Delft, Netherlands Basic EUR 70/month (EUR 700/year), Advanced EUR 200/month (EUR 2,000/year); USD prices also shown; free trial without a card Demo on request

Best for: Trainers and companies that train many participants and want a flat fee instead of per-learner pricing

  • Operating company. Easy LMS B.V.
  • Jurisdiction. EU (Netherlands)
  • Where the data sits. Privacy policy: no personal data transferred outside the EEA; hosting location not named on the pages we read
  • Source code. Closed source
  • Replaces. Podia, TalentLMS, Thinkific

Easy LMS is aimed at running training and exams, not at running a storefront. The pricing page promises a flat fee that does not change with the number of customers, locations or organisations you train, and both plans list unlimited participants.

Basic at EUR 70 a month covers 3,000 exams or courses started a month and 500 simultaneous participants; Advanced at EUR 200 raises those to 10,000 and 1,000 and adds custom certificates, your own URL, webhooks, an API, detailed reports and SCORM upload.

The company is Easy LMS B.V. at Oude Delft 48 in Delft, and its privacy policy says no personal data is transferred outside the EEA, with data sent to processors outside it anonymised and model contract clauses in place. There is a free trial without a card. Both plans have one admin seat, no checkout or funnels are listed, and the entry price is well above creator tools such as Teachizy or Coachy.

What Easy LMS does well

  • Flat fee, unlimited participants
  • No personal data transferred outside the EEA (privacy policy)
  • Published prices in EUR
  • SCORM, API and webhooks on Advanced
  • Free trial without a card

Where Easy LMS falls short

  • No storefront or funnels listed
  • 1 admin seat on both plans
  • Higher entry price than creator tools
  • Hosting region not named

Standout feature. Its fee stays flat however many participants you train, so cost depends on capacity and not on head count.

#9 Spreadmind

Rottweil, Germany No public prices on the pages we read; see vendor website Demo on request

Best for: Education and consulting companies that want a managed platform with setup help and German hosting

  • Operating company. Spreadmind GmbH
  • Jurisdiction. EU (Germany)
  • Where the data sits. Germany (Frankfurt), managed cloud hosting on Amazon AWS per the vendor FAQ
  • Source code. Closed source
  • Replaces. Podia, Kajabi, Thinkific

Spreadmind sells three editions and a service wrapper around them: EXPERT-Suite for selling digital training to individuals, EXPERT-Suite PLUS for business customers and ENTERPRISE-Suite for employee training. Onboarding, a managed service, a back-office service and help with ZFU approval of distance-learning courses in Germany come with the platform. The vendor pitches it to organisations without capacity for server administration, cybersecurity or GDPR work and says it handles updates, backups and monitoring.

Spreadmind GmbH is at Graben 18 in Rottweil, registered at Amtsgericht Stuttgart. According to its FAQ, the platform runs as managed cloud hosting on Amazon AWS in Frankfurt, with shared or stand-alone server options, which gives you a German region on a US-owned cloud. No prices appear on the pages we read, the site is German first, and the platform is heavier than a creator tool.

What Spreadmind does well

  • Managed hosting, updates and backups
  • Editions for B2C, B2B and employee training
  • ZFU approval service
  • Frankfurt hosting stated
  • Native app option

Where Spreadmind falls short

  • No public prices
  • Runs on AWS infrastructure
  • Heavier than creator tools
  • German-first site

Standout feature. It helps with ZFU approval of distance-learning courses in Germany, a regulatory service no other tool here lists.

#10 DigiMember

Münster, Germany Founded 2013 DigiMember PRO EUR 47/month or EUR 397/year excl. VAT, billed through DigiStore24; a free start version is offered Demo on request

Best for: WordPress site owners who want a membership layer on their own site and use Digistore24 for sales

  • Operating company. Digital Solutions GmbH
  • Jurisdiction. EU (Germany)
  • Where the data sits. Your own WordPress hosting (plugin); the vendor does not host your member data
  • Source code. Closed source
  • Replaces. Podia, Kajabi, MemberPress

DigiMember is a plugin, not a hosted platform: you install it on your own WordPress site, define products and levels, and it protects pages, posts and courses. It releases lessons on a schedule and blocks access when an instalment is missed. The PRO version lists unlimited products, content dripping, exams and certificates, action-based marketing, all payment providers and all email tools for EUR 47 a month or EUR 397 a year excluding VAT, purchased through DigiStore24.

Digital Solutions GmbH in Münster, registered at Amtsgericht Münster as HRB 15019, publishes the plugin, which the vendor says has been on the market since 2013. Member data stays in your WordPress database, so no GDPR hosting guarantee applies beyond the host you choose. You are responsible for hosting, updates, security and video delivery, and there is no hosted course player, community or app.

What DigiMember does well

  • Member data stays on your own WordPress
  • One PRO price with all features
  • Drip release and payment-based access
  • Exams and certificates
  • Established since 2013

Where DigiMember falls short

  • You manage hosting and security
  • No built-in video platform or app
  • Sales via DigiStore24
  • Requires WordPress

Standout feature. It is the only tool here that leaves member data in a database you run yourself.

#11 edudip

Aachen, Germany Creator EUR 29/month (30 participants), Starter EUR 119/month (100 participants), Premium EUR 299/month (500 participants), monthly billing; lower rates billed yearly Demo on request

Best for: German-speaking organisations and trainers

  • Operating company. edudip GmbH
  • Jurisdiction. EU (Germany)
  • Where the data sits. Germany (stated: personal data stored exclusively on German servers)
  • Source code. Closed source
  • Replaces. ON24, GoToWebinar, Zoom Webinars

edudip is webinar software, which makes it the odd one out in this category and the right companion to a course tool for anyone who sells live sessions. Participants can book and pay through edudip, and invoices are generated and sent automatically. Plans are sized by audience: Creator at EUR 29 a month for 30 participants, Starter at EUR 119 for 100 and Premium at EUR 299 for 500, with an enterprise tier on request and lower rates billed yearly.

edudip GmbH is registered in Aachen (Amtsgericht Aachen HRB 16012), and its site states that all personal data is stored exclusively on German servers. The site describes a technical webinar companion and full-service webinars where staff help run the session. Creator caps sessions at 2 hours, the site is mostly in German, and it has no lessons, quizzes or member area of its own.

What edudip does well

  • Personal data on German servers (stated)
  • Paid webinars with automatic invoicing
  • Clear public plan prices
  • Optional technical support during sessions
  • Registered German GmbH

Where edudip falls short

  • Mostly German-language site
  • 2-hour limit on the cheapest plan
  • Audience caps per plan
  • Enterprise priced on request

Standout feature. It books, charges and invoices participants for a live session in one tool, with German data storage stated.

Which European online course platform should a solo creator choose?

Start from what you sell, not from the feature list. A creator whose business is the course itself, with video, a landing page and a mailing list, will find LearnWorlds the most complete, with Memberspot as the simpler option if the audience is German-speaking. A creator who also needs funnels, email and a blog on a tight budget should look at systeme.io, whose free plan has 3 funnels, a course and a custom domain, or LearnyBox for a French-language equivalent.

Then check the size of the first plan against your real audience. Memberspot Starter stops at 1 course and 100 members, LearnyBox Launch at 100 learners, and Teachizy's free plan at 3 courses and 70 learners. None of these limits is unreasonable, but each one decides how soon you pay for the next tier.

Finally, decide how much of the sales machinery you want inside the platform. Coachy and DigiMember lean on Digistore24, Teachizy runs instalments through Stripe, and Easy LMS has no checkout at all. If you have never set up VAT and invoicing, the platforms with a checkout reduce the risk of getting it wrong.

How do transaction fees compare once you add payment processing?

The platform fee and the payment fee are two separate charges, and comparison pages that quote only one of them mislead. Memberspot lists 0% on all four plans and systeme.io lists 0% on every paid plan. Teachizy takes 9% on sales through its free plan, and the paid plans we read list flat monthly prices. LearnWorlds applies transaction fees on its lower tiers and removes them on higher ones.

On top of whichever platform fee applies, Stripe, PayPal or Digistore24 charges its own percentage. A seller who moves EUR 5,000 a month will notice the difference between a platform that takes nothing and one that takes 9%, because that gap is EUR 450 a month, before any monthly plan price.

The fee model also changes which plan makes sense. At low volumes the free plans with a commission are cheaper than a flat EUR 49 plan. At higher volumes the arithmetic reverses, which is why Teachizy's own structure, free with commission and then a single flat Pro plan, makes the crossover easy to calculate.

Does a European course platform keep learner data in Europe?

Mostly, but the evidence varies a lot by vendor, and it is worth reading the wording. Teachizy states servers in France, LearningSuite states Frankfurt, edudip says personal data is stored exclusively on German servers and systeme.io says data is on AWS in Ireland and is not transferred outside the European Union. Those are specific claims you can put into a data processing agreement.

Others are vaguer. Memberspot and Coachy say EU hosting without naming the provider, Easy LMS's privacy policy says no personal data leaves the EEA but does not name a hosting location, and LearnyBox does not state a server region at all, while its legal notice names Amazon Web Services, Inc. as the site host. Spreadmind states Frankfurt and also names AWS, a US-owned provider.

The honest summary is that all eleven tools have EU contracting companies, which gives you a European processor and a European supervisory authority. Whether any American company is involved in the infrastructure is a separate question, and only DigiMember, where you choose the host, lets you answer it entirely yourself.

How hard is it to migrate from Podia, Kajabi or Teachable?

Lessons, videos, files and the customer email list move with effort; automations, drip schedules and checkout history generally do not. Podia's own pricing page lists the same content types it migrates into its platform, which is a reasonable guide to what is portable. Expect to rebuild lesson structure by hand in Memberspot, Coachy or Teachizy, and to recreate quizzes and certificates from scratch.

Two vendors here sell help with the move. LearningSuite lists a migration service, and systeme.io includes a free migration service on its Unlimited plan at $97 a month. Spreadmind sells onboarding and a managed service. For anyone with several hundred learners, that support may be cheaper than the time spent rebuilding.

Run both platforms side by side for one billing cycle. Tell students where the new login lives, cancel the old subscription only after renewals have passed, and keep an export of customer emails and payment records from Stripe or PayPal.

When should you not switch to a European platform?

If your audience is global and English-speaking, several of these tools will frustrate you. Teachizy and LearnyBox are French-first, Memberspot, Coachy, Spreadmind and edudip are German-first, and LearningSuite offers only German, English and Polish. LearnWorlds and systeme.io, which publish in English and quote prices in dollars, are the exceptions.

The second case is a very small operation that values an all-in-one bundle over data location. Podia combines courses, downloads, coaching, community, events and email, and no European tool on this list copies the whole set. If your learners are hobbyists and your privacy notice already discloses a US transfer, the bundle may save more time than it costs in compliance questions.

The third case is a corporate buyer who actually needs an LMS with reporting, not a creator tool. Easy LMS and Spreadmind are built for that. Creator tools such as Coachy are not aimed at that job.

Do these platforms handle VAT and invoices for you?

Mostly not. Memberspot says plainly that it lists payment-provider integrations rather than acting as merchant of record, so VAT handling and invoicing stay with you or your payment provider. Coachy and DigiMember route sales through Digistore24, which acts as the checkout and invoicing party in that arrangement. edudip is the exception inside its niche: participants book and pay through edudip, and it sends invoices automatically.

Teachizy runs instalments through Stripe, so Stripe's terms and fees apply, and LearnyBox lists Stripe, PayPal, GoCardless and its own Learnypay. systeme.io and LearnWorlds bundle sales functionality, but check which payment providers each supports in your country before you commit.

If tax is your biggest worry, ask each vendor one question during the trial: who is the seller of record on a sale to a consumer in another EU country? The answer decides who files the VAT.

How we selected and ranked these 11 tools

Every tool on this page is in the European Purpose directory, which means the operating company is established in Europe and we have verified that from the company register or the vendor's own legal notice rather than from a marketing page. Tools headquartered outside Europe are not eligible, however good they are.

  1. Feature verification (weight: 40%). We check each capability against the vendor's own documentation and product pages, and record what the tool does rather than what the category is assumed to include.
  2. Ease of adoption (weight: 30%). Integrations, published API access, trial availability and how much configuration stands between signing and a usable result.
  3. Value and transparency (weight: 30%). Published pricing counts in a vendor's favour; quote-only pricing is recorded as quote-only rather than estimated. We weigh what a buyer gets for the entry price, not the headline feature count.
  4. Editorial review. Every page is researched and drafted with AI assistance, and the compliance and pricing claims are checked against the vendor's documentation before it is published under the founder's editorial responsibility. The three weights above decide the order; a position is a ranking against the other European tools in this category, not an absolute score.

Vendor-reported outcomes — ROI figures, margin uplift, time saved — are labelled as vendor claims wherever they appear on this page. We have not audited them, and neither has anyone else who quotes them. Read our full editorial process for how pages are re-verified.

Frequently asked questions

LearnWorlds holds the top place among the European online course platforms in this directory, followed by Memberspot and systeme.io. LearnWorlds suits creators who want interactive video, a site builder and white-label apps; Memberspot suits German-speaking coaches who want no fee per sale; systeme.io suits sellers who want courses, funnels and email on a free plan. For French-speaking trainers, Teachizy and LearnyBox are the natural picks.

Yes, several, though none copies the whole Podia bundle. systeme.io from Dublin and LearnyBox from Montpellier come closest, with courses, funnels and email in one account. LearnWorlds from Greece goes deeper on video. Memberspot, Coachy and Teachizy cover the member-area part. Check the full comparison on the Podia alternatives page before you decide.

systeme.io, Teachizy and LearnyBox have permanent free plans with limits: systeme.io includes 3 funnels, 1 course and a custom domain, Teachizy allows 3 courses and 70 learners with a 9% commission, and LearnyBox allows 1 course for 20 learners. DigiMember has a free start version for WordPress. Coachy and Memberspot offer 30-day and 14-day trials without a card.

Memberspot lists a 0% transaction fee on all of its plans, and systeme.io lists 0% on every paid plan. Teachizy takes 9% on its free plan, and LearnWorlds applies fees on its lower tiers. Your payment provider still charges its own fee on top of any platform fee.

All eleven tools on this page are run by companies in the EU, and the vendors state GDPR compliance, but the details differ. Teachizy states servers in France, LearningSuite states Frankfurt, edudip states German servers and systeme.io states Ireland. LearnyBox and Easy LMS do not name a hosting region on the pages we read. Ask for the data processing agreement and the sub-processor list before you sign.

For the course and member-area part, yes. LearnWorlds, Memberspot, Teachizy and LearningSuite deliver lessons under your own brand, and systeme.io and LearnyBox add funnels and email. The gap is breadth and language: several European tools are strongest in German or French, and none matches the full feature set of the American bundles.
