European Alternatives to Clearbit

Looking for a European alternative to Clearbit? Clearbit's own site says it has joined HubSpot, and its terms name HubSpot, Inc. (Two Canal Park, Cambridge, Massachusetts) as the provider under the Clearbit brand, governed by Delaware law with exclusive jurisdiction in Delaware courts.

The European tools below cover Clearbit's two jobs: enrichment and contact data (Dropcontact in France, Cognism in the UK, Kaspr in France, Vainu in Finland) and visitor identification (LeadBoxer and Leadinfo in the Netherlands, Leadfeeder and SalesViewer in Germany, Albacross in Sweden).

How we rank these tools — 4-step process
  1. 1
    European ownership, verified

The company is headquartered and incorporated in the EU, EEA or Switzerland, and processes customer data in Europe. A US parent company disqualifies a tool from this page regardless of where its servers are.

  2. 2
    Category fit and hands-on review

What the tool actually does, who it suits, and where it falls short — checked against the vendor’s own documentation, changelog and pricing page rather than its marketing copy.

  3. 3
    Compliance and pricing check

GDPR posture, hosting location and the prices quoted on this page are verified against the vendor’s public pricing before publication, and re-checked when we revisit the category.

  4. 4
    Position on this page

Placement on this page can be paid, and that can affect which tools appear here and the order they appear in. It never buys a good review: a tool that fails the checks above is not here at any price, and payment does not change the shortcomings we write about. A vendor can ask us to correct a factual error — not to remove a criticism.

Vendors can pay for visibility on this page. It never changes what an entry says about a product, including the criticism, and we earn nothing when you click through to a vendor. Paid placement can affect which tools appear here and the order they appear in. Editorial policy

Key takeaways

  • Clearbit's own terms name HubSpot, Inc. as the provider and put the contract under Delaware law, so a Clearbit subscription is a contract with a US company.
  • Clearbit's privacy policy says its data comes from public sources, data brokers and data co-ops, and that visitor identification works from IP address intelligence.
  • Dropcontact states that it stores no personal contact database, which is the closest European answer to Clearbit's enrichment side.
  • LeadBoxer is the one European tool in this comparison that offers a permanent free plan and a platform and API for visitor data.
  • No single European tool replicates everything Clearbit sells, so most teams combine an enrichment tool with a visitor identification tool.

Why people leave Clearbit

Clearbit sells business data and the machinery to use it: it enriches a record from an email address, adds firmographics such as industry codes and corporate hierarchies, normalises job titles into roles and seniority, and shows which companies are behind anonymous visits to a website. Its home page now opens with the line that Clearbit has joined HubSpot, and that is the first thing to understand about the product you would be buying or renewing.

The contract confirms it. The terms say APIHub, Inc. doing business as Clearbit assigned them to its affiliate HubSpot, Inc., which provides the services under the Clearbit brand. Notices go to HubSpot, Inc. in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and the terms are governed by Delaware law with exclusive jurisdiction in Delaware courts. A European company that bought enrichment from an independent data vendor is now in a contract with a US platform company.

People leave for a mix of reasons, and none of them is that the data is useless. Some do not want their CRM data flowing through a vendor that compiles its database from data brokers and co-ops. Some find the terms restrictive. Others only ever needed one half of the product, either enrichment or visitor identification, and would rather pay a specialist for that half.

  • The contracting party is a US company under Delaware law Clearbit's terms are an agreement with HubSpot, Inc., governed by Delaware law, with disputes in Delaware courts. The privacy policy relies on the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, the UK Extension and the Swiss-U.S. framework for transfers. That works while the framework stands, but a European buyer carries the transfer assessment. A vendor established in the EU, such as Dropcontact or Leadinfo, removes that question instead of managing it.
  • The database is compiled from sources your prospects never chose The privacy policy describes Clearbit Indexers that gather attribute data from public sources, from licensing agreements with data brokers and from data co-ops, and it names legitimate interest as a legal basis. That is a common model, and Cognism and Kaspr work similarly. The alternative is a tool that states it keeps no contact database, as Dropcontact does, or one that only looks at your own traffic.
  • The terms limit what you can build with the data Clearbit's terms restrict use of Product Data to the customer's own business-to-business sales, marketing and business development, and they bar incorporating the data into your own products or services. Companies that wanted to feed enrichment into a product, or resell it, hit that wall. LeadBoxer is the one European tool here that is sold explicitly as a data and API layer as well as an app.
  • Self-serve plans renew until you cancel them The terms state in capitals that paid plans bought through self-service renew automatically until cancelled, and that fees already collected are kept. Nothing unusual for SaaS, but combined with credit-based enrichment it makes the real cost hard to forecast. Several European tools publish a fixed or tiered euro price instead, such as AtlasForgeX at one price with no credits.

What you have to replace, not just match

Start with what Clearbit does for you today, because it is usually two separate jobs wrapped in one login.

The first is enrichment: records in a CRM or marketing tool get filled from an email or domain, with company size, industry codes, role and seniority. The second is visitor identification: a script on your site maps traffic to companies and a dashboard highlights those that fit your ideal customer profile. Write down which of the two your team really uses before comparing any vendor.

Then list the plumbing. Clearbit also scores and routes leads in real time, uses corporate hierarchies to send a subsidiary's lead to the owner of the parent account, and shortens web forms by filling fields it can enrich. The European tools below match the data layer and the visitor layer, but few replicate form shortening or hierarchy-based routing out of the box. Expect to rebuild those rules in your CRM or marketing automation.

Finally, mind the coverage. Clearbit describes global coverage in any language. The European vendors are strong in their home regions and uneven elsewhere: Dropcontact is built around French and EU companies, Vainu around four Nordic countries, and AtlasForgeX around official registers. Test each candidate on a sample of your own accounts before you migrate the whole database.

How each alternative compares to Clearbit

#1

Dropcontact

The nearest European match for Clearbit enrichment, built on a no-database claim

Aulnay-sous-Bois, FranceStarter €79/month, Growth €120/month, Enterprise on request#8 in Sales Intelligence

Best for: A team that wants clean, verified contact data in HubSpot or Pipedrive without a stored contact database.

Against Clearbit, Dropcontact does the narrow job well. You give it a first name, last name and company website and it returns a verified email, then it can dedupe and update records in HubSpot and Pipedrive. It also adds the SIREN number and the intra-community VAT number, which is useful when your accounts are French or elsewhere in the EU.

Its data model is the main difference. The vendor says it uses its own algorithms and test servers and that it does not store or resell personal information. Clearbit's policy describes an indexed commercial database instead. For a European buyer that changes the consent conversation.

What Dropcontact does better than Clearbit

  • Says it keeps no personal contact database, where Clearbit describes a compiled one
  • French entity under French law instead of a Delaware contract
  • Adds SIREN and VAT identifiers for EU companies
  • Published monthly prices from €79, with 50 free credits to try

Where Dropcontact is a step down from Clearbit

  • No visitor identification, so Clearbit's traffic dashboard has no equivalent here
  • No searchable lead database or industry classification at Clearbit's depth
  • Strongest for French and EU companies, weaker for global accounts

Standout against Clearbit. It enriches records without claiming to keep a contact database of its own.

LeadBoxer

The only tool here that sells visitor data as an API with a free plan

Amsterdam, NetherlandsFree plan with 25,000 credits/month; Starter €99/month, Growth €199/month, Scale €399/month billed annually; pay-as-you-go from €0.0025 per credit#10 in Sales Intelligence

Best for: RevOps teams and agencies that want visitor identification and enrichment as data they can pipe into their own systems.

LeadBoxer is the closest European tool to Clearbit as a data layer. It identifies companies and people visiting a site, reads email opens and clicks, enriches the result and scores leads against an ideal customer profile. It also sells the same platform as an API, which is the use that Clearbit's terms make awkward when you want to build the data into your own product.

Pricing is credit-based and published. A free plan gives 25,000 credits a month with no time limit, and paid plans run from €99 a month on an annual plan. Identifying a visitor IP costs 20 credits and contact enrichment 50, so a team should do the arithmetic before committing.

What LeadBoxer does better than Clearbit

  • A permanent free plan, where Clearbit publishes no price on the page checked
  • Sold as a platform and API, not only as an app
  • Dutch company in Amsterdam under EU law
  • Pay-as-you-go from €0.0025 per credit for irregular volume

Where LeadBoxer is a step down from Clearbit

  • Credit arithmetic takes work to forecast
  • Hosting location is not stated on the pages checked
  • No certification published, and a smaller dataset than Clearbit's global one

Standout against Clearbit. Visitor identification and enrichment priced per credit, with the data available through an API.

#3

Leadfeeder

The standard European answer for naming companies behind anonymous traffic

Karlsruhe, Germany (additional office in Helsinki, Finland)Free Lite tier; paid plans from €79/month#1 in Sales Intelligence

Best for: A marketing or sales team that mainly uses Clearbit to see which companies visit the site and wants a free start.

Leadfeeder replaces Clearbit's visitor dashboard rather than its enrichment API. It decodes anonymous website traffic into named companies, sends real-time alerts and pushes records into a CRM. Higher tiers add verified contact emails and phone numbers plus intent signals, which narrows the gap with a data vendor.

The Lite plan is free, with unlimited users and up to 100 identified companies a month, and paid plans start at €79 a month. The legal entity is Dealfront Group GmbH in Karlsruhe, with a second office in Helsinki. The vendor's own pages mention a private equity investment from the United States, so read the ownership section of the tool page if that matters to you.

What Leadfeeder does better than Clearbit

  • Free Lite tier with unlimited users, against a vendor-quoted Clearbit price
  • German entity with EU data hosting
  • Alerts and CRM pushes built around who visits, not around record-by-record lookups

Where Leadfeeder is a step down from Clearbit

  • Only identifies companies that already visit your site
  • Contact data on higher tiers is thinner than a dedicated data vendor's
  • Lite keeps only 7 days of visitor history

Standout against Clearbit. A free plan for visitor identification from a German-Finnish vendor.

Leadinfo

Visitor identification with a decision-maker database attached, priced openly by volume

Capelle aan den IJssel, NetherlandsFrom €69/month (annual), published tiers#2 in Sales Intelligence

Best for: A Dutch or Benelux sales team that wants to see the visiting company and a named contact in one view.

Leadinfo does what Clearbit's visitor dashboard does and attaches a database of more than 300 million decision-makers, so a rep sees who to approach at the company that just visited. That pairing covers part of Clearbit's contact data without a separate enrichment product.

Plans are priced by the number of identified companies rather than by seat: Starter is €69 a month annually for up to 100 companies, Scale is €159 and Pro €359, with higher volumes costing more. Every tier has a 14-day trial without a card, and the company is part of teamblue and holds ISO 27001.

What Leadinfo does better than Clearbit

  • Published euro tiers listed, while Clearbit's own prices were not shown on the pages checked
  • ISO 27001 certification stated by the vendor
  • Decision-maker lookup attached to each visiting company
  • Dutch entity, not a Delaware contract

Where Leadinfo is a step down from Clearbit

  • Only surfaces companies that have visited your site
  • The price climbs quickly once B2B traffic grows
  • Mobile numbers only on the top Pro tier

Standout against Clearbit. A named decision-maker for each identified visitor, from a Dutch company with ISO 27001.

Cognism

A compliance-first contact and company database for outbound, quoted not listed

London, United KingdomQuote-based: Standard and Pro plans with 5 seats included, credits per seat#6 in Sales Intelligence

Best for: An outbound team that mainly uses Clearbit for contact and company data and needs phone numbers screened by country.

Cognism fits the people side of Clearbit's data. It is a searchable database of contacts and companies with firmographic, technographic and signal-based filters, and it sells CRM enrichment as an add-on. Its phone data is screened against Do Not Call lists in the UK, US, Germany, France and several other countries, which Clearbit's pages do not describe.

It is the one tool here outside the EU: Cognism Limited is registered in England and Wales and relies on the UK adequacy decision. Pricing is on request, with Standard and Pro plans that include five seats, and the vendor states ISO 27001, ISO 27701 and SOC 2 Type II.

What Cognism does better than Clearbit

  • Phone numbers screened against Do Not Call lists in several countries
  • Documented opt-out route for people in the database through a Privacy Centre
  • ISO 27001, ISO 27701 and SOC 2 Type II stated

Where Cognism is a step down from Clearbit

  • Not EU-established, only covered by an adequacy decision
  • No published price, and aimed at teams with a data budget
  • It also has a US office, though the contracting entity is British

Standout against Clearbit. Compliance as part of the product, with phone data screened against Do Not Call lists.

Kaspr

LinkedIn-based contact lookup from a French company, cheap to start with

Paris, FranceFree plan; Starter from €45/user/month, Business from €79/user/month; Organization (annual, minimum 5 users) and Enterprise on request#7 in Sales Intelligence

Best for: An individual rep or small team that wants emails and phone numbers while browsing LinkedIn.

Kaspr works in a different place from Clearbit. It is a Chrome extension that shows emails and phone numbers on a LinkedIn profile, with a dashboard, CSV enrichment and Sales Navigator support on paid plans. The vendor claims more than 500 million verified phone numbers and emails from over 150 sources.

The free plan gives 15 B2B email, 5 phone and 5 direct email credits a month. Starter is €45 per user per month and Business €79. Kaspr SAS is registered in Paris and is part of Cognism, so the UK group sits behind a French contracting entity.

What Kaspr does better than Clearbit

  • Free plan with phone credits to test before paying
  • Low per-seat entry price at €45 a month
  • French entity under French law, courts of Paris
  • Fits a rep's LinkedIn workflow without a CRM project

Where Kaspr is a step down from Clearbit

  • Phone credits are capped per year on paid plans
  • Depends heavily on LinkedIn access

Standout against Clearbit. Phone numbers inside LinkedIn from a Paris entity, with a free plan.

Albacross

Visitor identification and outreach in euros from a Swedish company

Stockholm, SwedenStarter €59/month and Professional €149/month billed annually (€84 and €213 month to month); Organisation on request#9 in Sales Intelligence

Best for: A marketing team that wants to act on identified visitors with email and LinkedIn sequences from the same tool.

Albacross covers Clearbit's visitor dashboard and then goes a step further: high-intent visitors can be contacted with email and LinkedIn sequences from within the product. It groups visitors with AI segmentation based on behaviour, engagement and off-site activity, and shows which pages each company read.

The privacy policy states that information is stored on servers in Ireland, and the operating company is Albacross Nordic AB in Stockholm. Starter is €59 a month annually for 100 identified companies and Professional €149 for 500, with a 14-day trial and no card.

What Albacross does better than Clearbit

  • Stated storage in Ireland, inside the EU
  • Outreach sequences in the same product
  • Published euro prices on two tiers

Where Albacross is a step down from Clearbit

  • No permanent free plan
  • Plans cap identified companies per month
  • Organisation plan is quote-only and certifications are not published

Standout against Clearbit. Visitor identification and automated outreach in one Swedish product.

SalesViewer

A long-running German visitor tool with scoring, aimed at DACH teams

Bochum, GermanyFrom €99/month, scaling with identified-visitor volume#5 in Sales Intelligence

Best for: A German or DACH marketing team that wants scored company leads from site traffic under domestic jurisdiction.

SalesViewer has identified companies behind website traffic since 2010, from Bochum. Against Clearbit it offers behavioural tracking (pages, time, frequency), lead scoring and CRM integrations, but no enrichment API and no contact lookup of the Clearbit type.

Plans start at €99 a month and scale with the volume of identified visitors. There is no free tier and no self-serve trial: you book a demo. The company states EU data hosting and operates under German GDPR jurisdiction.

What SalesViewer does better than Clearbit

  • German company with EU data hosting, not a Delaware contract
  • Behavioural tracking layered on top of the company name
  • Established vendor operating since 2010

Where SalesViewer is a step down from Clearbit

  • No published free tier, so evaluation means a demo
  • Does nothing for outbound prospecting into accounts that never visited

Standout against Clearbit. One of the longer-established visitor identification vendors, from Germany.

salesviewer.com Visit SalesViewer

Vainu

A Nordic company database built from local sources, not a global data layer

Helsinki, FinlandFrom roughly €3,500/year, quoted by volume and seats#3 in Sales Intelligence

Best for: A team selling into Denmark, Finland, Norway or Sweden that wants local-language company and intent data.

Vainu is deliberately narrower than Clearbit. It combines a searchable company and contact database with intent signals, pulled from registries, news, job postings and filings in Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden, in each country's own language. Vainu.io Oy has built it since 2013 from Helsinki.

Pricing is not published as a rate card: it starts from roughly €3,500 a year and scales with data volume and seats. There is no free tier. For global accounts it is the wrong tool, since coverage does not extend far beyond the Nordics.

What Vainu does better than Clearbit

  • Deeper Nordic coverage from local-language sources
  • Finnish company with EU data hosting
  • Intent signals from hiring and public filings

Where Vainu is a step down from Clearbit

  • Nordic only, whereas Clearbit advertises global coverage
  • No published price and no free tier to test

Standout against Clearbit. Local-language Nordic company data from a Finnish vendor.

AtlasForgeX

A register-based prospecting program with one fixed price, for new companies

Vantaa, Finland€600 per two months plus VAT (about €300 a month), no credits, renews every two months#12 in Sales Intelligence

Best for: A team prospecting newly registered companies that wants a fixed price instead of enrichment credits.

AtlasForgeX is the least like Clearbit. It is a desktop program for Windows and Mac that reads official business registers, puts newly registered companies at the top and then looks for each company's website, phone number and decision-maker. When it finds nothing, the field stays empty.

The price is €600 plus VAT per two months, with no credits, and it renews automatically. The privacy policy states that searches run on your computer, but the rows found are sent to the vendor's server and merged into a shared company bank. Servers are at Hetzner in Finland, and Tarmex Oy was registered in November 2025.

What AtlasForgeX does better than Clearbit

  • One fixed euro price with no credits or seat fees
  • Newly registered companies surfaced from official registers
  • Finnish company under Finnish law with servers in Finland

Where AtlasForgeX is a step down from Clearbit

  • Youngest company and narrowest product in the category
  • No visitor identification and no email sequencer or dialer
  • Found company rows are shared with the vendor's common bank

Standout against Clearbit. Prospecting from official registers at a fixed price, with no credit system.

atlasforgex.com Visit AtlasForgeX

What actually breaks when you switch

Switching from Clearbit starts with data and scripts. Export your enriched records before the subscription ends, remove the Clearbit tag from the site once a replacement is running, and re-point any form shortening or lead routing rules. Field names differ between vendors, so a CRM mapping step is unavoidable. The enrichment values you already hold stay in your CRM, but their refresh will stop.

Contracts and consent need attention too. Self-serve Clearbit plans renew until you cancel them, so set the cancellation before the next billing date. Update your privacy notice if your visitor identification vendor changes, since it names the processor. Finally, expect retraining: reps used to Clearbit's scoring will find different fields and signals in each European tool, and a short pilot on a sample of accounts saves arguments later.

Is Clearbit still a separate product after the HubSpot deal?

According to its own site, Clearbit has joined HubSpot, and the Clearbit website still runs under its own name, with its own terms, privacy policy and customer login. The terms say HubSpot, Inc. provides the services under the Clearbit brand, and the privacy policy says the same. So the brand is separate while the contracting company is not.

For a buyer, the practical effect is on the contract rather than the interface. Read the version of the terms that applies to your start date: the current ones apply to services beginning on or after 2 January 2024, and the older legacy terms apply to earlier customers.

Can a European tool really replace Clearbit for enrichment?

For email finding, verification and CRM cleaning, yes. Dropcontact generates a verified email from a name and a website and adds company identifiers such as the French SIREN and the intra-community VAT number, which Clearbit's home page does not mention. Cognism and Kaspr cover phone numbers, with Cognism screening them against Do Not Call lists in several countries.

The gap is breadth. Clearbit advertises coverage in every country and a very fine industry classification. Check a sample of your own accounts, especially outside Europe, before you rely on any European tool as a full replacement.

Which one to pick

Pick by the job you actually used Clearbit for. If it was record cleaning and email finding in a CRM, start with Dropcontact, and add Cognism if you also need phone numbers screened by country, or Kaspr if your reps live in LinkedIn. If it was the visitor dashboard, Leadfeeder (free Lite tier) or Leadinfo (published tiers, decision-makers attached) are the most direct swaps, with Albacross if outreach should sit in the same tool.

If you used Clearbit as a data layer for your own systems, LeadBoxer is the closest to that shape. Vainu and AtlasForgeX are for specific markets: the Nordics and newly registered companies. If you need global coverage and one vendor for everything, Clearbit is stronger than any single European option here, and the honest choice may be a combination of two European tools.

Frequently Asked Questions

It depends on which half of Clearbit you use. For enrichment, Dropcontact (France) cleans and completes CRM records, with Cognism (UK) and Kaspr (France) adding phone numbers. For visitor identification, LeadBoxer and Leadinfo (Netherlands), Leadfeeder and SalesViewer (Germany) and Albacross (Sweden) each name the companies visiting your site. LeadBoxer is the closest to a data and API product.

Clearbit's website says it has joined HubSpot, and its terms name HubSpot, Inc. as the provider under the Clearbit brand, with legal notices addressed to Two Canal Park, Cambridge, Massachusetts. The terms are governed by Delaware law. Clearbit is therefore a US-owned service, which matters for buyers who need a contract with a European entity.

Clearbit's privacy policy includes a notice for residents of the European Economic Area, names legitimate interest as a legal basis, and says Clearbit complies with the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and its UK and Swiss extensions. Whether that is enough depends on your own transfer assessment. The European alternatives avoid the question because the vendor is established in the EU or, for Cognism, covered by the UK adequacy decision.

Leadfeeder offers a free Lite plan for up to 100 identified companies a month. Leadinfo starts at €69 a month on an annual plan, Albacross at €59 and SalesViewer at €99. LeadBoxer has a free plan of 25,000 credits a month, where identifying a visitor IP costs 20 credits. All of them only see companies that already visit your site.

Partly. Leadfeeder Lite, LeadBoxer's free plan and Kaspr's free plan have no time limit, and each covers a different slice: company visitors, visitor data with a small credit pool, and LinkedIn contact lookup. Dropcontact gives 50 free credits to test. None is a free copy of Clearbit's full enrichment, so expect limits on volume.
