Twproject

Twproject is an Italian project and resource manager, first released in 2001, that a team installs on its own hardware and pays for by enabled user rather than by subscription.

Licences are counted by the people who can log in; the number of projects is unlimited on every tier, which matters for a consultancy or an engineering department running dozens of small jobs rather than one large one. Gantt charts, resource allocation and time tracking sit at the centre of the product, closer to classical project management than to a Kanban board.

Twproject S.r.l. is based in Florence, and the company publishes tier names — Free, Basic, Advanced, Enterprise — without publishing the amounts attached to them; a prospective buyer has to run the hosted demo or request a quote to see a number, on-premise or through Twproject Cloud.

That opacity is the main mark against it in a category where several vendors put a full price list on the page.

What it buys in return is the self-hosting option nearly two decades of on-premise customers have kept it alive for: the data never has to leave a server the buyer controls, and there is a 30-day refund window if it does not fit.
