Detailed Review
Amacker & Partner Informatik AG, In der Ey 58 in Zurich, is entered in the Zurich commercial register under CH-020-3035315-7 and publishes OblonVet as a successor to its older OblonData product. The company says it has supported Swiss vets since 1991 and counts more than 400 practices.
OblonVet is written in Java and the recommended database server is PostgreSQL, according to the FAQ. A practice can install it only on its local network if it does not want customer data in the cloud.
Practice functions
The agenda is organised by treatment room, vet and other resources. Client records show patients, finances and agreements together, while the patient file holds history, vaccinations, treatments, lab findings, digital images and extra documents.
Payments by debit card, Twint, credit card or cash can be partial or in full, and a cash drawer and receipt printer can be attached. Invoices and reminders can be printed or mailed, and payments are matched when the bank's camt.54 file is read.
Stock, reporting and devices
Stock management proposes orders, warns about expiring drugs, updates list prices and uploads orders to Vetpoint. Reports cover finance figures, statistics by species or breed, debtor lists and VAT returns.
Interfaces reach internal lab devices, digital and dental X-ray and ultrasound, plus Anis, Amicus and BLV antibiotic reporting.
Deployment options
Multi-client and multi-site operation is built in. Phones can sync calendars through a Google two-way module, and tablets use remote tools such as RDP or VNC, since no native tablet client is listed.
Limitations to Consider
This is a desk review of Oblon's pages, not a trial. The features page still marks online appointments through the practice homepage and SMS reminders as coming soon, there is no native tablet app, prices are not published, and the focus is the Swiss market. Switzerland is outside the EU, covered by an adequacy decision.
Who Should Use Oblon Vet
Right for Swiss practices, including Mac users, that value a long-standing local vendor and Swiss payment formats. Practices wanting a pure web service can see inBehandlung.
