European Alternatives to Carvana
Looking for a European alternative to Carvana? Carvana is a United States online used car retailer, and its own website returned an access error (HTTP 403) to our checker on 4 November 2026, so this page quotes none of its terms, privacy policy or prices. If jurisdiction matters to you, read the Carvana terms and privacy policy directly.
The European used car marketplaces below name contracting entities in Germany, the Netherlands, France, Spain, Denmark and the United Kingdom, and cover buying, selling and trade-in of used cars.
How we rank these tools — 4-step process
-
1
European ownership, verified
The company is headquartered and incorporated in the EU, EEA, the UK, Switzerland or Israel, and processes customer data in Europe or Israel. A US parent company disqualifies a tool from this page regardless of where its servers are.
-
2
Category fit and hands-on review
What the tool actually does, who it suits, and where it falls short — checked against the vendor’s own documentation, changelog and pricing page rather than its marketing copy.
-
3
Compliance and pricing check
GDPR posture, hosting location and the prices quoted on this page are verified against the vendor’s public pricing before publication, and re-checked when we revisit the category.
-
4
Position on this page
Placement on this page can be paid, and that can affect which tools appear here and the order they appear in. It never buys a good review: a tool that fails the checks above is not here at any price, and payment does not change the shortcomings we write about. A vendor can ask us to correct a factual error — not to remove a criticism.
Vendors can pay for visibility on this page. It never changes what an entry says about a product, including the criticism, and we earn nothing when you click through to a vendor. Vendors can pay for more visibility, higher up on the review pages; it never affects which tools are listed. Editorial policy

Key takeaways
- Carvana's own website returned HTTP 403 to our checker on 4 November 2026, so none of its terms or prices appear on this page.
- Autohero, Aramis Auto, cinch and Clicars are the four European retailers here that state a return window, of 21, 30, 14 and 100 days or 3,000 km respectively.
- Motorway, Carwow and wirkaufendeinauto cover the selling side that a trade-in covers at Carvana, by auction, by reserve-price auction and by a company offer.
- cinch, Carwow, Motorway and Drive (heycar) are UK services under English law, so they sit outside the EEA even though the EU has an adequacy decision for the UK.
- AutoScout24, AutoUncle and Gaspedaal give you a search, not a purchase, because the contract is made with the seller whose advert you open.
Why people leave Carvana
Carvana is a United States company that sells used cars online, and people in Europe who search for an alternative are usually asking one of two things: is there a retailer near me that works the same way, and which company is on the other side of my contract. The first question has a practical answer, because several European retailers now sell cars from a website with delivery and a stated return period.
The second question is harder for us to answer about Carvana itself. Its website returned an access error (HTTP 403) to our checker on 4 November 2026, so this page quotes none of Carvana's terms, privacy policy or prices. That limit shapes the whole page. Anything said below about Carvana is the plain description of an online used car retailer, and every figure about the alternatives comes from their own pages.
The thirteen alternatives are not thirteen copies of one thing. Four of them are retailers that own the stock, two more sell cars through a dealership network or an authorised retailer list, and the rest help you search, price or sell a car. Choosing between them starts with deciding which part of the Carvana job you want to move: buying, selling, or only the search.
- The company behind the contract is easy to find in Europe Autohero NL B.V. lists a KVK number and VAT number, Aramis SAS an RCS number and share capital, Clicars Spain, S.L.U. a Madrid register entry, and AUTO1 Group SE a Munich register entry. Four more are UK companies with an English company number. A buyer who wants a counterparty in a register inside Europe can pick one by reading an imprint, rather than reading a US terms page.
- Used car buying is a national activity The pages we read for the alternatives are written for one market each: Dutch for Autohero and Gaspedaal, French for Aramis Auto, Spanish for Clicars and Flexicar, German for wirkaufendeinauto, English for the UK services. Registration, delivery and trade-in happen inside a country, so a retailer that speaks your language and names its local branches removes a layer of guesswork.
- The return windows are written down in figures Autohero states 21 days, Aramis Auto 30 days, cinch 14 days in its purchase terms, and Clicars 100 days or 3,000 km. Those periods differ a great deal, and they are claims you can hold the seller to, which makes them a useful way to compare. Carvana's own period could not be read by our checker, so compare it yourself against these four.
- Selling a car has several European routes Trading in to the retailer is only one option. Motorway lets verified dealers bid in a daily sale, Carwow runs an auction with a reserve price, wirkaufendeinauto sends a final price by email, and Flexicar sells the car for you. An owner who dislikes a single take-it-or-leave-it offer can move to a bidding model without changing country.
What you have to replace, not just match
Moving away from an online used car retailer means replacing a bundle, and the bundle has up to five parts: the catalogue, the checks on each car, delivery or collection, a return period, and a way to hand over your current car. No single European company in this list covers all five in every country. Autohero, Aramis Auto, cinch and Clicars come closest, each in one national market.
Financing deserves its own line. Autohero arranges loans through partner banks, Aramis Auto links credit and insurance partners, cinch handles finance and part exchange in one flow, Flexicar shows a monthly instalment beside each price, and Drive (heycar) is run by a subsidiary of a finance group. Credit terms differ per partner and per country, so a monthly figure from one site does not compare directly with another.
If you only used the search, the replacement is lighter. AutoScout24, AutoUncle and Gaspedaal give you adverts from many sellers, and AutoUncle adds a price rating and a number plate check. What you lose is the single party responsible for the car, because these three send you to the seller to complete the deal.
The alternatives compared

| #11 | wirkaufendeinauto | Berlin, Germany | Valuation is free; the sale price appears after you enter your car | EU (Germany) |

| #13 | Gaspedaal | Not shown on the pages we read, Netherlands | No consumer fee shown on the pages we read; separate terms exist for business advertisers | EU (Netherlands) |
How each alternative compares to Carvana
Best for: Dutch buyers who want delivery, a 21-day return window and an option to sell their current car
Autohero NL B.V. in Amsterdam sells used cars from its own website with delivery, order tracking and its own warranty, which is the nearest structural match to an online retailer in this list. Its home page states a 21-day money-back guarantee and lets you search by total price or by a monthly budget.
Against Carvana, Autohero is smaller in reach, because the pages we read are Dutch and cover the Netherlands. It also routes financing through partner banks with their own conditions. The AUTO1 Group site lists Autohero as one of its platforms, which is useful to know if you also plan to sell through wirkaufendeinauto.
What Autohero does better than Carvana
- Dutch B.V. with KVK and VAT number on the company details page
- 21-day money-back guarantee stated on the home page
- Direct sale and trade-in of your current car
- Search by monthly budget as well as total price
Where Autohero is a step down from Carvana
- Dutch pages only were read, so other countries are unchecked
- Warranty scope and delivery costs not read
- Loans depend on partner banks and their terms
Standout against Carvana. Autohero shows monthly budget search and a 21-day guarantee in the same retail flow.
Best for: Buyers who want the widest choice of adverts across several European countries and vehicle types
AutoScout24 GmbH in Grünwald runs a marketplace where private sellers and dealers advertise cars, motorcycles, caravans, trucks and trailers. Country sites cover markets from Germany and Italy to Belgium and Luxembourg, so a buyer near a border can search two or three countries from one brand.
The trade-off against Carvana is the contract. Contact runs by phone, WhatsApp or email with the seller, and the pages we read state no warranty or return right from AutoScout24 itself. Its imprint gives a Munich register number, and service prices, hosting and the ultimate owner are not shown.
What AutoScout24 does better than Carvana
- Many sellers and vehicle types on one set of sites
- Country sites for several European markets
- Leasing and financing offers beside adverts
- German GmbH with register and VAT details
Where AutoScout24 is a step down from Carvana
- No warranty or return right from the marketplace
- Service prices not shown on the pages read
- Hosting location and ultimate owner not stated
Standout against Carvana. AutoScout24 is the only entry here that publishes a Digital Services Act user figure.
Best for: French buyers who want online purchase, home delivery and the option to see the car in an agency
Aramis SAS in Arcueil sells new and used cars online in France and states cars guaranteed for 12 months, a 30-day trial, and delivery to home or an agency in 24 hours. It also lists 41 agencies, so a buyer who wants to look at a car first can do so.
For buyers in France, Aramis Auto adds a stated fact about data: the legal notice names Amazon Web Services Europe in Luxembourg as host. The pages are French only, the warranty and trade-in terms were not read, and the cookie page mentions transfers outside the European Union without detail in our extract.
What Aramis Auto does better than Carvana
- 30-day trial and 12-month guarantee stated
- 41 agencies for a physical visit
- Hosting named in the legal notice
- Trade-in without obligation to buy
Where Aramis Auto is a step down from Carvana
- French-language pages only
- Warranty and trade-in terms not read
- Discounts such as up to -45% on selected cars are time-limited
Standout against Carvana. Aramis Auto pairs a 30-day trial with a legal notice that names its host.
Best for: UK buyers who want an online purchase with delivery or collection, part exchange and finance in one order
Cinch Cars Limited in Hook, Hampshire sells used cars online and lets you choose delivery or collection, pay in full or on finance, and part-exchange your old car. The home page states a 3-month warranty and at least 6 months of MOT, and the purchase terms add a 14-day money back guarantee.
Compared with Carvana, cinch is a British service under English law, so it suits UK buyers rather than the euro area. Its terms add an Admin Fee and a Transport Charge whose amounts we did not read, and they list cases where cinch may refuse an order. The About page places it in the Constellation Automotive Group.
What cinch does better than Carvana
- Warranty and minimum MOT period stated on the home page
- 14-day money back guarantee in the purchase terms
- Part exchange and finance in the same flow
- Company number, address and VAT number published
Where cinch is a step down from Carvana
- UK service under English law, outside the EEA
- Admin Fee and Transport Charge amounts not read
- Group owners not named on the pages read
Standout against Carvana. cinch states a warranty and a minimum MOT period for every used car.
Best for: Buyers in Spain who want refurbished cars, a long trial and a store to visit
Clicars Spain, S.L.U. in Madrid sells refurbished used cars and km 0 cars, and states a trial of 100 days or 3,000 km together with a warranty of up to 3 years. Stores in several Spanish cities are listed, and the menu offers a valuation of your own car.
The trial is the longest on this page, but it is a home-page statement and we did not read the terms behind it. Clicars also says its cars come from the largest reconditioning factory in Europe and that it belongs to a European leader, and these are vendor claims. The pages are in Spanish only.
What Clicars does better than Carvana
- Trial of 100 days or 3,000 km stated
- Warranty of up to 3 years stated
- Madrid register entry and tax number published
- Valuation online and in store
Where Clicars is a step down from Carvana
- Spanish pages only
- Trial and warranty terms not read
- Group behind the company not named
Standout against Carvana. Clicars is the only retailer here that states its trial in both days and kilometres.
Best for: Spanish buyers who prefer a nearby dealership, and owners who want a quick or managed sale
Flexicar Internacional S.L. runs a used car catalogue with a monthly instalment shown next to each price, searchable by province and dealership. The home page claims more than 170 dealerships, a vendor claim, and says cars are checked before sale.
For owners, Flexicar offers a free online valuation, payment once the transfer is complete, and a Gestión de venta service with a photo shoot and listing on the main portals. Against Carvana the gap is documentation: the Garantía page returned no text, the legal notice lists no register entry, and the managed-sale fee is not shown.
What Flexicar does better than Carvana
- Monthly price shown beside the car price
- Managed sale for owners who do not want to list
- Free online valuation
- Tax number and address published
Where Flexicar is a step down from Carvana
- Warranty page returned no text
- No register entry in the legal notice
- Managed sale fees not shown
Standout against Carvana. Flexicar will list and sell your car for you through its managed sale service.
Best for: UK, Spanish and German buyers who want dealers to compete, or owners who want bids on their car
Carwow Ltd in London runs carwow.co.uk, carwow.es and carwow.de, where buyers collect Offers from dealers on new and used cars and owners put their car into an auction with a reserve price. It adds leasing, reviews, a car chooser and electric car deals.
Carwow works differently from a retailer: its terms state that a dealer is not committed to sell at the price in an Offer. The terms also license seller content, such as photos, to Carwow on an irrevocable, worldwide, perpetual and royalty-free basis. The sites are free to use according to the terms, and seller charges were not shown.
What Carwow does better than Carvana
- Dealers compete for your purchase
- Auction with a reserve price for sellers
- Sites stated as free of charge to use
- Reviews and a car chooser on the same sites
Where Carwow is a step down from Carvana
- Dealer offers do not bind the dealer
- Broad, irrevocable licence on seller content
- Seller charges not shown on the pages read
Standout against Carvana. Carwow is the only entry here where dealers bid to sell to you and also to buy from you.
Best for: Buyers who want to judge whether an advert price is fair before contacting a seller
AutoUncle ApS in Aarhus compares used car adverts and rates each price, which tells a buyer whether a listing looks cheap or dear before a call is made. Search alerts, favourites, My garage and a number plate check are included, and valuation and a route to sell are labelled free.
AutoUncle does not sell the car, so it gives no warranty, return period or delivery. Its privacy policy says services and stored personal data are hosted from servers in the EU, and it names UserCentrics, Inc., a US-based partner, as joint controller for consent signals. Country sites exist for 14 countries.
What AutoUncle does better than Carvana
- Price rating on each advert
- EU hosting stated in the privacy policy
- 14 country sites
- Free valuation and free selling route
Where AutoUncle is a step down from Carvana
- No warranty, return or delivery
- US partner named for consent signals
- Owner of the company not stated
Standout against Carvana. AutoUncle rates each advert's price against the market and states EU hosting.
Best for: UK owners who want dealers to compete for their car rather than accept a single trade-in offer
Motorway Online Ltd in London is a seller-side service. An owner enters a registration number, receives an instant valuation, and verified dealers bid in a daily sale, with the highest offer passed on and the car collected from home. Payment is stated as same-day after collection, and outstanding finance can be settled.
Motorway cannot replace the buying side of Carvana, because it sells no cars. The terms state a service fee based on the final sale price, and the percentage is not shown on the pages read. Its figures, 8,000+ dealers and 1,600 pounds more than part-exchange, come from Motorway's own survey or About page.
What Motorway does better than Carvana
- Dealers bid against each other in a daily sale
- Collection from home and settlement of outstanding finance
- Value tracker and MOT, tax and ULEZ checkers
- Company number, address and VAT number published
Where Motorway is a step down from Carvana
- Selling only, no cars to buy
- Fee percentage not shown
- UK service under English law
Standout against Carvana. Motorway turns a trade-in into a daily dealer sale.
Best for: UK buyers who want warranty-backed used cars from approved retailers, with lease offers on one site
Volkswagen Financial Services DS (UK) Limited operates Drive from Milton Keynes. It lists used cars from Volkswagen Group and other authorised retailers, plus new lease offers, with filters from under 8,000 pounds to under 1,000,000 pounds and monthly filters under 150, 200 and 300 pounds.
The sale is made with the dealership, not with Drive, so it works as a search window rather than a retailer. The terms name an appointed-representative relationship with an FCA-regulated firm. Drive does not buy your old car in the pages we read, and the link to the earlier heycar name rests on where our fetch ended.
What Drive (heycar) does better than Carvana
- Monthly price filters beside total price
- Used cars and lease offers on one site
- FCA reference stated for the regulated parent
- Guides and reviews next to the listings
Where Drive (heycar) is a step down from Carvana
- Focus on Volkswagen Group and authorised retailers
- No trade-in service seen on the pages read
- Warranty terms not read
Standout against Carvana. Drive (heycar) puts monthly price filters beside lease offers from authorised retailers.
Best for: German sellers who want a quick company purchase with a final price by email
WKDA GmbH in Berlin buys cars from private sellers. The route has three steps: a free online valuation, a final price by email, and a hand-over appointment in a branch. The home page states a sale in less than an hour, and the company handles deregistration.
As an answer to Carvana's trade-in, it is narrow, because it only buys. The pages show no price figures, the imprint lists two register numbers that we did not resolve, and the claim to be the largest car buyer in Europe is unverified. The privacy page offers a deletion request button, with 24-hour processing.
What wirkaufendeinauto does better than Carvana
- Final price sent by email before you travel
- Deregistration handled for you
- Data deletion request button on the privacy page
- Managing director and register court published
Where wirkaufendeinauto is a step down from Carvana
- Selling only, nothing to buy
- No price figures on the pages read
- German pages only
Standout against Carvana. wirkaufendeinauto sends a final price by email before you travel to a branch.
Best for: Readers who want to know who owns two of the consumer brands on this page
AUTO1 Group SE in Berlin is a corporate site, not a shop. It lists wirkaufendeinauto.de, Autohero and AUTO1.com as platforms, shows 2012 as the foundation year and 30+ markets, and publishes investor and governance material. It has no consumer prices or buyer terms, so it cannot stand in for Carvana, and is useful mainly to see how Autohero and wirkaufendeinauto are connected.
What AUTO1 Group does better than Carvana
- Names its consumer platforms and its management
- Register and VAT details published
Where AUTO1 Group is a step down from Carvana
- No prices or buyer terms for consumers
Standout against Carvana. AUTO1 Group shows the ownership link between Autohero and wirkaufendeinauto.
Best for: Dutch buyers who want to compare many used car adverts before they contact a seller
Gaspedaal collects offers from more than 2,000 Dutch car sites and lets you filter NL and EU offers by make, body type, fuel, province, city, transmission and BOVAG occasion. Price groupings, car reviews and model comparisons sit beside the results.
Gaspedaal is a search site, so you leave it to buy from the dealer who owns the advert, and no warranty or return period comes from Gaspedaal. The disclaimer states that Dutch law applies, and Automotive Mediaventions B.V. is named in the advertiser terms, but no address or KVK number was shown.
What Gaspedaal does better than Carvana
- Offers from 2,000+ Dutch car sites in one search
- NL and EU offers side by side
- BOVAG occasion filter
- Reviews and model comparisons on the site
Where Gaspedaal is a step down from Carvana
- No warranty or return period from Gaspedaal
- Operating entity address not shown
- Dutch pages only
Standout against Carvana. Gaspedaal brings Dutch adverts from over 2,000 car sites into a single results page.
What actually breaks when you switch
The first thing that does not carry over is the paperwork of a car in progress. An open order, a pending delivery or a registration under way at your current retailer cannot be moved to another company, so finish or cancel it before you start elsewhere. Because Carvana's terms could not be read for this page, check its cancellation and return conditions yourself, and keep the dates for any period still running.
The second is money. If your current car has outstanding finance, the buyer has to settle it: Motorway states that it helps with this, and the other sellers should be asked. Financing offers also differ by lender and country, so an approval at one company does not transfer to another. Expect to repeat identity and address checks with each new seller, and expect trade-in values to differ by tens or hundreds of euro between offers.
Can I buy a car and trade in my old one in one step, as with an American online retailer?
Four of the alternatives combine the two. Autohero offers trade-in and a direct sale of your current car next to its online purchase, Aramis Auto offers a trade-in described as without obligation to buy, cinch offers part exchange inside the order flow, and Clicars offers a valuation of your car online or in a store.
Check the order of events before you rely on it. The trade-in value is set by the retailer, and the sites we read do not show a figure until you enter your car. Ask for the valuation in writing, and compare it with one dealer-bid route such as Motorway in the United Kingdom, or wirkaufendeinauto in Germany.
Which alternative should I use if I only want to sell my car and not buy another?
Pick by country and by how much you want to negotiate. In Germany, wirkaufendeinauto sends a final price by email after a free valuation. In the United Kingdom, Motorway passes you the highest bid from its daily dealer sale, and Carwow runs an auction with a reserve price. In Spain, Flexicar offers a quick purchase or a managed sale.
Look at the fee before the headline price. Motorway states a service fee based on the final sale price but the percentage is not on the pages we read, Carwow's seller charges are not shown, and Flexicar does not show the fee for its managed sale. Ask each one for the exact amount that will be deducted from what you receive.
Which one to pick
If you want the Carvana way of buying in Europe, choose the retailer for your country: Autohero in the Netherlands, Aramis Auto in France, Clicars in Spain, cinch in the United Kingdom. Pick Aramis Auto or Clicars if the length of the trial or a store to visit matters most, and Autohero if you also want a direct sale of your current car in the same company.
If you want to search or sell instead, split the job. Use AutoScout24, Gaspedaal or AutoUncle to find and price cars, and use Motorway, Carwow or wirkaufendeinauto to sell. AUTO1 Group matters only as the explanation of who stands behind Autohero and wirkaufendeinauto. Whatever you pick, read the seller's imprint and return terms yourself, as we could not read Carvana's.
Frequently Asked Questions
No single tool is the best on every criterion. If you want to buy online with delivery and a return window, compare Autohero in the Netherlands, Aramis Auto in France, cinch in the United Kingdom and Clicars in Spain. If you want the widest set of adverts, use AutoScout24 or Gaspedaal. If you want to sell, look at Motorway, Carwow and wirkaufendeinauto.
Carvana's website returned an access error, HTTP 403, to our checker on 4 November 2026, so none of its pages were read. We would rather leave its terms out than repeat them from memory or from a review site. If jurisdiction matters to you, read the Carvana terms of use and privacy policy directly and compare them with the entity details of the alternatives below.
Four are UK services: cinch (Cinch Cars Limited), Carwow (Carwow Ltd), Motorway (Motorway Online Ltd) and Drive (heycar), run by Volkswagen Financial Services DS (UK) Limited. They operate under English law, and the EU treats the United Kingdom as adequate for personal data transfers. The other nine are established in Germany, the Netherlands, France, Spain or Denmark.
Only the retailers do. Autohero states a 21-day money-back guarantee, Aramis Auto a 30-day trial, cinch a 14-day money back guarantee, and Clicars a trial of 100 days or 3,000 km. AutoScout24, AutoUncle, Gaspedaal and Drive (heycar) are marketplaces or search services, and the pages we read describe no return window from them.
Yes on several of them. wirkaufendeinauto and Motorway are built for selling only, and Flexicar, Carwow and Aramis Auto also take cars. Autohero lists a direct sale route, and AutoUncle labels its selling route as free. Motorway does not sell cars at all, so it cannot replace the buying side of a retailer.
