Review in detail
The national site states that the stadtmobil partner organisations appear together and lists eight regions: Berlin, Hannover, Karlsruhe, Rhein-Main, Rhein-Neckar, Rhein-Ruhr, Stuttgart and Trier. Each region has its own imprint.
The regional imprints we opened name Stadtmobil Berlin GmbH (Bötzowstrasse 13, 10407 Berlin, HRB 108623), Stadtmobil Hannover GmbH (HRB 200275) and Stadtmobil CarSharing GmbH & Co. KG in Karlsruhe (HRA 104662). The Stuttgart imprint names stadtmobil carsharing AG.
How the network is organised
Because each region is a separate company, the contract is with the regional partner, not with one national entity. The national data protection notice sends you to the regional subpages for region-specific questions.
The home page presents the offer through example users: small city cars for errands and student budgets, plus larger vehicles for other needs.
Credit checks and third parties
The data protection notice states that, when an application is checked, the partners query credit agencies such as SCHUFA Holding AG or creditreform. It also names Google Ireland Limited in Dublin for embedded YouTube videos and notes that the parent company, Google LLC, is based in California.
Prices are not shown on the national pages we read.
Compared with Turo
stadtmobil is a regional operator with its own cars, so you cannot choose a private owner's vehicle. The benefit is a local contract with a German entity and local support.
Anyone who moves between regions should check whether the other region's partner accepts the same account; we did not read that.
Where it falls short
No prices on the pages we read, and the contract depends on the region. Credit agency queries apply at sign-up, and embedded YouTube videos load Google services. No private-owner marketplace. For a station network with published prices see Flinkster.
Best suited to users of stadtmobil
Residents of the eight stadtmobil regions who want a local, station-based car sharing operator.
