Detailed Review
RA-MICRO Software AG, registered in Berlin, offers its law firm software in four forms. RA-MICRO 1 is free for one workplace, Essentials is a browser edition, the full Kanzleisoftware includes licence, updates and phone and e-mail support, and the cloud concept provides preconfigured virtual workplaces.
The vendor also sells DictaNet dictation software and has added AI functions for file analysis, a search over more than 800,000 court decisions and a chatbot for client intake.
A product range from free to full
RA-MICRO 1 is free for a single workplace with up to 100 files per year and two file years. The cap falls by ten files per year from the third year. The Essentials edition runs in the browser, includes file, task, address, calendar, mail and fee functions and the beA interface, and starts at EUR 50 per month excluding VAT.
The full Kanzleisoftware has unlimited files, financial accounting, enforcement and add-on modules; its price is set by agreement.
Cloud in a German data centre
The cloud concept provides virtual workplaces in a German contract data centre with daily backups, with RA-MICRO, DictaNet and Microsoft Office preinstalled. Access is via VPN or browser from Windows, Mac, Android, iPhone or iPad. Keeping data inside the firm is also possible.
AI functions
AI file analysis answers questions on a file and summarises its course, and the AI comments tool finds decisions that fit a described situation. A further AI module is announced as coming soon on the vendor's home page.
Limitations to Consider
The free edition has strict caps (100 files per year, a shrinking quota) and the full version has no published price. RA-MICRO is built for German lawyers (beA, RVG), so it will not fit other jurisdictions. The cloud concept is a hosted desktop rather than a native web application; the browser edition (Essentials) is the lighter alternative. See Advolux for a product with published licence prices.
Who Should Use RA-MICRO
German sole practitioners and small firms that want a free or low-cost start, and larger firms that want a full on-premises or hosted system from one vendor.
