Detailed Review

Hive CPQ is listed in the Belgian Crossroads Bank for Enterprises under enterprise number 0677.439.585, as a public limited company at Kleindokkaai 17 in Ghent, active since 21 June 2017.

The founder's story dates the first prototype to 2003, written for a door manufacturer's sales team, and the platform to 2017. The product covers a configurator, an advanced pricing engine, multi-level bill of materials and document generation, 3D visualisation, a product store, spare parts, a B2B dealer portal and a B2C configurator. Industry pages cover doors and windows, industrial doors, HVAC, machines, outdoors and vehicles.

On the build side, configurators are made in the low-code Hive Design Studio, which the vendor says needs no coding and can be done by the customer, by Hive's CPQ engineers or as a hybrid. Hive AI, which the vendor calls the first AI tool that helps build configurators inside a CPQ platform, an API and an MCP connection sit alongside ERP, CRM and PIM integrations. Once a sales quote is finalised, a complete multi-level bill of materials is generated.

The trust centre is specific. Hive states ISO 27001 certification audited yearly by Kiwa and recertified every three years, with the certificate and a data processing agreement available to download, and says all data sits in its data centre in Germany.

Nothing about price is public: there is no pricing page, and cost comes through a demo or the free 30-day trial, which includes a sandbox environment and Hive Academy training. Outcomes quoted on the site, such as one customer receiving seven times more orders with the same team, are vendor claims.

What Hive CPQ does well

  • Belgian company confirmed in the KBO register, with the enterprise number in its privacy policy
  • ISO 27001 attributed to the auditor Kiwa, with certificate and DPA downloadable from the trust centre
  • Free 30-day trial with a dedicated sandbox and academy training, uncommon in CPQ
  • Low-code Design Studio lets a customer build and maintain configurators itself or with Hive's engineers
  • States that all data is stored in its data centre in Germany

Where Hive CPQ falls short

  • No pricing page or price anywhere; cost only comes through a demo or trial conversation
  • Shareholders and ownership are not published on the site or in the register extract we read
  • Customer outcomes such as seven times more orders are vendor-reported and unaudited
  • Hive AI and the MCP connection are new and marketed as a world first, which we could not verify

Standout feature. A free 30-day sandbox with academy training and a low-code Design Studio, so a team can build a first configurator before signing anything.
