European Alternatives to Wix

Looking for a European alternative to Wix? Wix.com Ltd. is a Tel Aviv company whose terms are a contract with it and its affiliates worldwide, with most disputes sent to individual arbitration, and Israel is outside the EU and the EEA.

Eleven European tools cover the job for small businesses: simple all-in-one website builders and hosts with a builder, plus one open-source business suite, from companies in Germany, the Netherlands, Latvia, Cyprus, Switzerland, France, Estonia, Sweden, Belgium and Denmark.

100% GDPR Compliant
How we rank these tools — 4-step process
  1. 1
    European ownership, verified

The company is headquartered and incorporated in the EU, EEA or Switzerland, and processes customer data in Europe. A US parent company disqualifies a tool from this page regardless of where its servers are.

  2. 2
    Category fit and hands-on review

What the tool actually does, who it suits, and where it falls short — checked against the vendor’s own documentation, changelog and pricing page rather than its marketing copy.

  3. 3
    Compliance and pricing check

GDPR posture, hosting location and the prices quoted on this page are verified against the vendor’s public pricing before publication, and re-checked when we revisit the category.

  4. 4
    Position on this page

Placement on this page can be paid, and that can affect which tools appear here and the order they appear in. It never buys a good review: a tool that fails the checks above is not here at any price, and payment does not change the shortcomings we write about. A vendor can ask us to correct a factual error — not to remove a criticism.

Vendors can pay for visibility on this page. It never changes what an entry says about a product, including the criticism, and we earn nothing when you click through to a vendor. Paid placement can affect which tools appear here and the order they appear in. Editorial policy

Key takeaways

  • Wix.com Ltd. is a Tel Aviv company whose terms apply worldwide through affiliates and send most disputes to individual arbitration, with an opt-out.
  • Jimdo (Hamburg) is the nearest to Wix in shape: an AI builder with a booking system, online store, forms and payment tools, a free plan and German law.
  • Webador (Eindhoven) publishes its prices: Free, then Lite from €5.50, Pro €10 and Business €20 a month on annual billing, with introductory halves until 31 October 2026.
  • Mozello (Latvia) puts a shop with up to 5 products in its free plan, with paid plans at €9, €18 and €27 a month.
  • Hostinger bundles a builder with hosting, a free domain and two mailboxes for the first year, and for EU customers contracts through its Cyprus entity under Luxembourg law.
  • Webnode, Voog, e-monsite, one.com, Combell and Simply.com each fit a narrower case, and Odoo is the one to pick if the website should sit inside a wider business suite.

Why people leave Wix

Wix is the website builder most small businesses start with. You pick a template or let its AI build a first draft, drag things around, and the site, hosting, domain and a basic shop or booking page all live in one account. A free plan lets you try it with no card, and paid plans on its US pricing page run from $17.77 a month (Light) to $159.77 (Business Elite).

It is run by Wix.com Ltd. in Tel Aviv. That is not an American company, but it is not a European one either. The terms are a contract between you and Wix.com Ltd. and its affiliates worldwide, and section 19 sends most disputes to binding individual arbitration with a class-action waiver, unless the law where you live says otherwise (you can opt out). Israel is outside the EU and the EEA.

This page is about the simple, all-in-one end of the market: a site for a shop, a studio, a clinic or a consultancy that one person can run. It does not cover designer tools or headless systems, which are on the Webflow and Squarespace pages. Eleven European builders and hosts qualify, and they are not interchangeable: several are strong on price, some on a permanent free plan, and one is an open-source business suite.

  • Your contract is with a company outside Europe Wix.com Ltd. is in Tel Aviv, and its terms apply to all customers worldwide through its affiliates. Disputes are steered to individual arbitration with a class-action waiver, subject to local law and an opt-out. If you want a contracting party inside the EU or EEA, with a court in your own region, none of that applies to the tools below.
  • The free plan is a doorway, not a destination Wix offers a free plan, and the paid plans on its US page run from $17.77 to $159.77 a month, with eCommerce and marketing tools from the Core and Business tiers up. Several European builders here publish a permanent free plan too (Webador, Mozello, e-monsite, Webnode, Jimdo), so the free entry point is not unique to Wix.
  • Your site lives inside the builder A Wix site is built with Wix tools and cannot be exported as a working site elsewhere. That is true of almost every builder on this page as well, with one exception worth knowing: Odoo Website is open source and can be run on your own server. If you ever plan to leave, a move means rebuilding in either case.
  • The European answers differ in what they bundle Jimdo, Webador, Mozello, Webnode, Voog and e-monsite are builders first. Hostinger, one.com, Combell and Simply.com are hosting companies whose builder comes with a domain and mailboxes. Odoo is a business suite where the website is one app. Choose by what you also need, not only by price.

What you have to replace, not just match

List what your Wix site actually does: how many pages, whether it sells anything, whether people book, which languages it uses. A five-page brochure site moves almost anywhere. A shop with bookings and several languages narrows the choice to a few tools here, and it is worth checking the product limits on the plan you would need rather than the headline plan.

Keep your domain with a registrar you control, not with the builder, so that moving later means changing a DNS record instead of a transfer. Run the old and the new site side by side until the new one is live, and redirect old addresses so that search traffic follows you.

Jimdo

the closest in shape to Wix, from Hamburg

The pricing table on its own site is rendered in the browser and could not be checked for this page, so no figure is quoted here. Check the current price of the plan with the shop or booking you need.

  • Source code. Closed source, as Wix is.

Best for: People who prefer to describe the site in chat and want email and a domain with it

One.com is provided by One.com Group AB, Carlsgatan 3 in Malmö (registration number 559205-2400). Its terms send disputes exclusively to the Danish courts under Danish law, so the company is Swedish while the law is Danish.

Its builder page describes Aida, an AI chat that builds the site, plus an online shop, a booking system, templates, business email and domain registration. It offers a 14-day free trial with no credit card and a 15-day money-back guarantee on new hosting purchases. Plans are listed at under £10 a month on the UK page.

  • Source code. Closed source, as Wix is.

Best for: Small sites that need a cheap first year and a Danish company behind them

Odoo Website

a free, open-source site inside a business suite

Ramillies, BelgiumOne free app / paid plans per user per month#5 in ERP

  • Which law reaches it. EU (Belgium). Wix is operated from Israel, outside the EU and without an adequacy decision, so transfers rest on contractual safeguards rather than on the data staying inside the EEA.
  • Where the data sits. EU hosting (Odoo Online) or your own servers.
  • Source code. Open source, where Wix is not: you can read what it does rather than take the description on trust.

Best for: Businesses that also want CRM, invoicing or inventory next to the site

Odoo is provided by Odoo S.A. in Belgium. Its Enterprise agreement is governed by Belgian law, with the Nivelles Business Court deciding disputes. The software is open source, and you can host it yourself.

Its website app has drag-and-drop blocks, a blog, AI content tools, SEO tools, analytics and translation in more than 30 languages. Its page offers a free plan with free hosting and support and a free domain for a year, with no credit card needed. eCommerce is a separate app.

It is the heaviest tool here. The site is one app of a suite, which is a strength if you want the rest and a burden if you only want a brochure page.

What Odoo Website does better than Wix

  • Open source, so you can run it on your own server
  • Free plan with free hosting and a domain for a year
  • More than 30 languages
  • One suite for site, shop and the business behind it

Where Odoo Website is a step down from Wix

  • More to learn than a builder-only product
  • eCommerce is a separate app
  • Paid plans are priced per user per month
  • Not a builder-first product, so the learning curve is steeper

Standout against Wix. It is open source, so the software can run on your own server if you leave Odoo S.A.

What actually breaks when you switch

The hard part of leaving Wix is the content, not the account. Pages, text and images are not exported as a working site, so budget time to copy them over and rebuild the layout. Take your own copies of the images before you cancel.

Check the limits on the exact plan you need. The free plans here cap storage, products or branding, and the entry paid plans cap pages and products. Mozello stops the free store at 5 products and Voog's Starter stops at 2 pages.

Several of these have introductory first-year prices that rise at renewal. Write the renewal price down before you commit, and remember that a free domain for the first year is not free the second year.

Is there a European tool that works exactly like Wix?

Closest in shape is Jimdo: you describe the business, its AI builder creates a site, and booking, online store, forms and payment links come from the same dashboard. Webnode, Webador and Mozello cover the same ground with fewer tools, and Hostinger and one.com add an AI builder to a hosting package.

None replicates Wix's whole app market. If you rely on a particular Wix app, check whether a European builder has an equivalent before you move.

Which of these has a permanent free plan?

Jimdo, Webador, Mozello, Webnode and e-monsite all describe a free plan on their own sites, and Odoo Website is free with free hosting. Voog, one.com, Combell, Simply.com and Hostinger do not offer a permanent free plan: Voog gives 30 days, one.com a 14-day trial, and the other three sell cheap first-year plans or a money-back guarantee.

Free plans carry limits that you should read first. Webador and Webnode keep their branding or a subdomain on the free plan, and Mozello limits the free store to 5 products.

Can I run a shop on one of these?

Yes, on most. Mozello includes a store even on its free plan, with up to 5 products, and its paid plans carry 0% transaction fees. Webador includes the store on all paid plans (10 products on Pro, unlimited on Business). Voog opens the store at Standard (3 products) and removes the limit at Plus. Combell sells SiteBuilder with Webshop separately, and Odoo has a separate eCommerce app.

If the shop is the point of the site, compare the product limits and the transaction fees of your payment provider, not only the monthly price.

Does the contract really matter for a small site?

It matters most for where a dispute is decided and which consumer protections apply. With Wix, the contract runs with Wix.com Ltd. and its affiliates, and most disputes go to arbitration unless your local law prohibits it. With the tools here, the contracting entity sits in the EU, the EEA, Switzerland or, for Hostinger, in Cyprus for EU customers.

For a hobby site it is a minor point. For a business that stores customer data, takes bookings or sells goods, it is part of the picture along with data location and what happens to your content when you leave.

Which one to pick

If you want the nearest thing to Wix, with AI building, booking, a store and forms in one account, Jimdo is the one, and it has a free plan. If you want to read the prices before you sign up, Webador is the cleaner choice, and Mozello is the one for a free store and several languages.

If you also want hosting, a domain and email from one company, look at Hostinger, one.com, Combell or Simply.com, and check the renewal price. Webnode, Voog and e-monsite each fit a narrower case: Swiss contract and a free multilingual start, a developer API from €17 a month, or a free French site with a blog and shop.

Odoo is the odd one out. Pick it if the website should sit inside a business suite you may run yourself, not if you want the quickest brochure site.

Be realistic about the gap. Wix has a far bigger app market than any of these, and none of the eleven imports a Wix site. Switch if you want a European or EEA contracting party and a court close to home, and keep Wix if the apps you rely on have no equivalent.

Frequently Asked Questions

Jimdo is the best all-round answer on this page, because it matches Wix's AI builder, booking, store and forms in one account, with a free plan and German law. Webador is the better choice if you want transparent prices, and Mozello if a free store matters. If you also want hosting, a domain and email in one package, look at Hostinger, one.com, Combell or Simply.com.

No. Wix.com Ltd. is in Tel Aviv, Israel, and its terms are a contract between you and Wix.com Ltd. and its affiliates and subsidiaries worldwide. Israel is neither in the EU nor in the EEA.

There is a free plan. On its US pricing page, paid plans are listed at $17.77 a month for Light, $29.77 for Core, $39.77 for Business and $159.77 for Business Elite, with a 14-day money-back guarantee. Prices can differ by country and billing period.

Webador lists Free, then Lite at €2.75 for the first 12 months and €5.50 after, Pro at €5 then €10, and Business at €10 then €20, per month on annual billing and excluding VAT. The introductory halves end on 31 October 2026. Mozello lists Free, Premium at €9, Premium Plus at €18 and Premium Pro at €27 a month, or €11, €22 and €33 when billed quarterly.

Voog has no free plan, a 30-day trial, and lists Starter at €1.25, Standard at €11, Plus at €17 and Premium at €39 a month on annual billing. Combell lists SiteBuilder at €9.99 a month (promotional €3.99) and SiteBuilder with Webshop at €11.99 (promotional €6.99). Simply.com lists Basic at €0.49 the first year and €6.99 after, Standard €0.53 then €13.95, Pro €3.00 then €21, and Enterprise €4.00 then €32, excluding VAT.

Hostinger's terms list one contracting entity per region. For customers in EU countries it is HOSTINGER INTERNATIONAL LIMITED in Larnaca, Cyprus, and the agreement is governed by Luxembourg law with the courts of Luxembourg. Other regions contract through entities in Singapore, the UK, Indonesia or Luxembourg.

Its terms name Webnode AG in Zürich, Switzerland as the contracting company, under Swiss law with Zürich as the venue for business customers. Day-to-day operations are run by Webnode s.r.o. in Brno, Czech Republic. The terms also refer to the team.blue group of companies.

Mozello, Webnode, Voog and Odoo describe multilingual support. Voog allows up to 3 languages on Standard and unlimited on Plus and Premium. Odoo lists more than 30 languages. Mozello and Webnode advertise multilingual sites on their own pages.

Not as a file you can import. Wix content and design are not exported to another builder, so a move means rebuilding the pages, copying the text and images, and setting up redirects. Plan for a few evenings for a small site, and keep the old one live until you have checked the new one.

It is, for a different kind of user. Odoo Website is free, open source, has drag-and-drop blocks, a blog and a separate eCommerce app, and is run by Odoo S.A. in Belgium under Belgian law. It is built as one app in a wider business suite, so it makes most sense if you also want invoicing, CRM or inventory in the same place. For a simple brochure site, Jimdo or Webador is quicker to learn.

Jimdo, Webador, Mozello, Webnode, Voog, Hostinger, one.com, Simply.com, Combell and Odoo all publish English pages. e-monsite is primarily French-focused, so it suits a French-language site best.
