Combell

Combell is a Belgian host whose managed WordPress line has three plans: Business at EUR 19.99, Professional at EUR 38.99 and Expert at EUR 64.99 a month. First-year prices are much lower, at 7.48, 14.95 and 29.95. The category page lists a test environment on every plan, Varnish cache and 50 GB or more of webspace, and backups are kept for 14 to 30 days. A Butler transfer service moves an existing site over.

Combell nv has operated from Ghent since 1999 and belongs to team.blue, a Ghent-headquartered European hosting group, so the contract falls under Belgian law. Its main strength is the bundle, since domains, email and hosting come from one vendor, and an EU jurisdiction. The trade-off is that managed WordPress is one product among many, and the first-year discount ends at renewal. Budget with the regular prices, and ask which retention applies to your plan.

Combell also sells SiteBuilder, an AI-assisted drag-and-drop website builder with a separate webshop tier, for people who do not want WordPress. It is a different product from the managed WordPress plans above and is reviewed in the website builders category.

What Combell does well

• A Belgian hosting company in business since 1999
• A test environment on every plan
• Domains, email and hosting come from a single vendor
• Part of team.blue, a large European hosting group
• Belgian law and EU jurisdiction

Where Combell falls short

• Managed WordPress is one line among many products
• First-year discounts end at the regular price
• Backup retention is 14 to 30 days, so check the figure for your plan
• The regular price is more than double the first-year price on all three plans

Standout feature. Combell sells managed WordPress with a test environment on every plan inside a bundle with domains and email from a team.blue company.
