European Alternatives to ShipBob

Looking for a European alternative to ShipBob? ShipBob, Inc. is headquartered in Chicago, and its privacy policy states that it is based in the United States and processes personal data there, so your shoppers' names and addresses are transferred out of Europe. ShipBob's pricing page publishes no fulfillment rates: all quotes are customised, and extras such as kitting cost more.

The European 3PLs below contract through companies in the EU or the UK and run warehouses in France, Germany, the Netherlands, Poland, Spain and the UK, several with public platform plans or no permanent contract.

How we rank these tools — 4-step process
  1. 1
    European ownership, verified

The company is headquartered and incorporated in the EU, EEA, the UK, Switzerland or Israel, and processes customer data in Europe or Israel. A US parent company disqualifies a tool from this page regardless of where its servers are.

  2. 2
    Category fit and hands-on review

What the tool actually does, who it suits, and where it falls short — checked against the vendor’s own documentation, changelog and pricing page rather than its marketing copy.

  3. 3
    Compliance and pricing check

GDPR posture, hosting location and the prices quoted on this page are verified against the vendor’s public pricing before publication, and re-checked when we revisit the category.

  4. 4
    Position on this page

Placement on this page can be paid, and that can affect which tools appear here and the order they appear in. It never buys a good review: a tool that fails the checks above is not here at any price, and payment does not change the shortcomings we write about. A vendor can ask us to correct a factual error — not to remove a criticism.

Vendors can pay for visibility on this page. It never changes what an entry says about a product, including the criticism, and we earn nothing when you click through to a vendor. Vendors can pay for more visibility, higher up on the review pages; it never affects which tools are listed. Editorial policy

Key takeaways

  • ShipBob, Inc. is headquartered in Chicago and states in its privacy policy that it processes personal data in the United States.
  • ShipBob's pricing page publishes no fulfillment rates, while Bigblue prints GBP 49 and GBP 149 monthly platform plans.
  • Monta Fulfilment states that customers pay for storage, handling and transport actually used, with no permanent contract.
  • Eleven European or UK providers contract through companies in the EU or the UK, from Bigblue and Zenfulfillment to Rhenus with 120+ locations.
  • Green Fulfilment runs sites in Glasgow and Swindon and has a single EU warehouse, in Venlo.

Why people leave ShipBob

ShipBob, Inc. is a Chicago company that stores, picks, packs and ships orders for online sellers. Its privacy policy describes the business as based in the United States and says personal data is processed there. For a brand with customers in Berlin or Lyon, that means every delivery name, address and phone number belongs to a data set handled by a US contracting party, whichever warehouse the parcel physically leaves from.

The commercial side raises a second question. ShipBob's pricing page lists no fulfillment rates at all: every quote is customised, and extras such as kitting are charged on top. A merchant can therefore not set the price of a pick, a pack and a storage pallet beside a competitor's before a sales call has happened. Several European providers on this page publish at least their software plans or state their cost model openly.

None of that makes ShipBob a weak product, and nothing here claims it. According to its own pricing FAQ it operates fulfillment centres in Europe, so a European brand can ship from European stock with it. The reasons to look elsewhere are narrower: the jurisdiction of the contract, the opacity of rates, and the wish to deal with a provider that signs under European law.

  • The contracting party is American ShipBob, Inc. says in its privacy policy that it is based in the United States and processes personal data there. Shopper names and delivery addresses move from your European shop to a Chicago company. Each of the eleven providers on this page contracts through an entity in the EU or the UK, so the processing agreement is governed by European or British law rather than a transfer mechanism.
  • No rates on the pricing page Fulfillment pricing at ShipBob is quote-only, and extras such as kitting cost more. That is common in logistics, and most European providers here do the same. The difference is at the edges: Bigblue prints its platform plans, Monta states that you pay for space, handling and transport actually used, and FLEX. Fulfillment names a zero onboarding cost. A buyer gets at least one fixed number to hold on to.
  • European stock is a secondary claim ShipBob's pricing FAQ says it has fulfillment centres in Europe. Taken at face value, that is a US operator with European sites added. Providers such as Zenfulfillment (Apfelstädt and Łozienica), Active Ants (five countries) and Rhenus (120+ locations in 19 countries) build their offer around European delivery, customs and returns from the start.
  • Distance from the local marketplace A shop selling on bol.com, Kaufland or ManoMano needs those connectors working. Monta lists all of them on its integrations page, and Active Ants links bol.com. The pages checked for ShipBob in this task do not cover marketplace coverage in Europe, so a buyer who sells mostly there should ask for the connector list in writing before signing.

What you have to replace, not just match

Moving off ShipBob means replacing a warehouse relationship, not only a piece of software. Your stock sits on shelves in someone else's building, your product master data lives in their system, and your shop and marketplaces push orders to them through connectors. Before you choose, list the pieces: the inbound routine (how pallets and cartons are announced and booked in), the order connectors, the carrier contracts, the returns flow and the stock reports your finance team relies on.

Against that list, the European providers split into three types. Bigblue, Monta and Zenfulfillment come with their own merchant software, so the dashboard is part of the package and replaces what you used at ShipBob. FLEX. Fulfillment brings myFLEX WMS and a focus on Amazon FBA preparation. The group names, FIEGE, GEODIS, Rhenus and ID Logistics, are contract logistics firms, and the interface and integration work is usually agreed per project, which fits large shippers but is slower to start.

Customs is the item that surprises UK-linked brands. Green Fulfilment ships from Glasgow and Swindon, and only its Venlo site avoids customs steps on EU orders. FLEX. runs a UK site as a separate market with its own customs steps. If your customers sit on both sides of the Channel, ask each provider which warehouse serves which postcode before you compare prices.

How each alternative compares to ShipBob

#1

Bigblue

Software-led French 3PL with plan prices you can read before talking to sales

Toulouse, FrancePlatform plans at GBP 49 and GBP 149 a month (GBP 40 and GBP 124 on a 3-year commitment), an Advanced tier shown at GBP 300 on a 3-year commitment; fulfilment prices through an online calculator#1 in Ecommerce Fulfillment Services (3PL)

Best for: Direct-to-consumer brands selling in France, Germany, Spain and the UK that want branded tracking and returns

Against ShipBob, Bigblue is the provider that shows a number first. Its merchant plans are listed at GBP 49 and GBP 149 a month, dropping to GBP 40 and GBP 124 on a three-year commitment, with an Advanced tier at GBP 300. ShipBob prints no fulfillment rates, so Bigblue gives a buyer something to compare before a sales call.

The contracting party is Bigblue SAS, registered in Toulouse, a French company, rather than a Chicago one. Stock is held in warehouses in France, Germany, Spain and the UK, and one stock pool serves B2C and B2B. Handling and shipping rates still come from a calculator or a quote, and the lowest plan prices need a three-year term.

What Bigblue does better than ShipBob

  • Plan prices are published, ShipBob shows no rates
  • French contracting entity and French register number
  • Branded tracking pages and returns portal in the merchant app
  • Specialised storage for fashion, beauty and food

Where Bigblue is a step down from ShipBob

  • Handling and shipping rates are not public either
  • Plan prices are in pounds, not euros
  • Cheapest plan rates need a three-year commitment

Standout against ShipBob. The only provider on the page whose software tiers carry public monthly prices.

Monta Fulfilment

Dutch pay-per-use network with its own warehouse software and no lock-in

Netherlands, NetherlandsQuote based; the pricing page says customers pay for storage space, order handling and transport actually used, with no permanent contract#2 in Ecommerce Fulfillment Services (3PL)

Best for: Dutch and Benelux webshops selling on bol.com that want to move without a multi-year contract

Monta Fulfilment, run through Monta Holding B.V. and active since 1999, answers ShipBob's closed pricing with a stated model: the pricing page says you pay for the space, order handling and transport you actually use, and there is no permanent contract. No rates are printed, so a quote is still the first step.

Compared with ShipBob, Monta's strength is regional depth. Its integrations page lists bol.com, Amazon, Kaufland, ManoMano and Mirakl, and warehouses stand in the Netherlands, France, Germany and the UK. The head-office city is not given on the pages checked, and the website mixes fulfilment with the sale of MontaWMS software.

What Monta Fulfilment does better than ShipBob

  • No permanent contract is stated on the pricing page
  • Dutch B.V. as contracting party
  • bol.com, Kaufland and ManoMano connectors listed
  • MontaWMS can run in a warehouse you operate yourself

Where Monta Fulfilment is a step down from ShipBob

  • No rates are published
  • Spanish and Italian sites are not named
  • Website mixes two audiences, shops and software buyers

Standout against ShipBob. It is the one provider here that states a pay-per-use model with no permanent contract.

#3

Zenfulfillment

Berlin fulfilment built around a next-day delivery date shown in checkout

Berlin, GermanyPrice list sent by email after a form with platform and monthly shipment volume; no figures published#3 in Ecommerce Fulfillment Services (3PL)

Best for: German online shops that want to show a delivery date at checkout and run DTC and B2B from one system

Zenfulfillment GmbH was founded in Berlin in 2017 and runs warehouses in Apfelstädt, Germany, and Łozienica, Poland. Against ShipBob, the difference is its Zenrush service: shops can show a next-day delivery date in the checkout, a promise tied to the German market where most of its customers sit.

The price list arrives by email after you enter your platform and monthly shipment volume, so it is as closed as ShipBob's quotes, only with a form in front of it. ZenOS connects Shopify, WooCommerce, Shopware, Xentral and Billbee. The service is built around Germany, so French or UK-heavy shops should test delivery times first.

What Zenfulfillment does better than ShipBob

  • Next-day delivery date shown live in the shop
  • German GmbH with named managing directors and a full imprint
  • Dedicated handling for food, fashion and cosmetics
  • ZenOS connects German storefronts and ERP tools

Where Zenfulfillment is a step down from ShipBob

  • Prices only by email after a form
  • Focus on Germany leaves other markets less covered
  • ZenOS is tied to the fulfilment service

Standout against ShipBob. Zenrush lets a shop display a next-day delivery date before the buyer pays.

Active Ants

Dutch AutoStore operator for small, light items across five countries

Nieuwegein, NetherlandsQuote on request; no prices on the site#4 in Ecommerce Fulfillment Services (3PL)

Best for: Shops with compact, high-SKU catalogues in health, beauty or small electronics

Active Ants B.V., founded in 2010 in Nieuwegein, picks webshop orders with AutoStore robots and packs them automatically. Against ShipBob, the offer is narrower and more specific: it suits small and medium items that fit the grid, and it covers the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, England and France.

The brand is moving to Paxon after Bnode became full owner on 21 August 2023, so contract and portal names may change, and the Paxon network includes North American operations. The UK address sits under Active Ants UK Ltd. No prices appear on the site. Bulky furniture or long goods are a poor match.

What Active Ants does better than ShipBob

  • AutoStore picking and automatic packing
  • Sites in five European countries
  • Contracting party is a Dutch B.V.
  • Warehouse tours offered before signing

Where Active Ants is a step down from ShipBob

  • No published prices
  • Rebranding to Paxon may change contract names
  • Poor fit for bulky or long goods

Standout against ShipBob. It is the AutoStore specialist on the page, with robot picking for small items.

FLEX. Fulfillment

German six-site 3PL where Amazon FBA prep is a core service

Hermsdorf, GermanyQuote on request; zero onboarding cost and a flexible contract; pick and pack priced per order with materials and labels included#5 in Ecommerce Fulfillment Services (3PL)

Best for: Amazon and eBay sellers who need FBA preparation and one stock pool across Germany, France, Poland and the UK

FLEX. Fulfillment is operated by FLEX Logistik Deutschland GmbH of Hermsdorf, and its six warehouses sit in Germany (three), France, Poland and the UK. Against ShipBob, the sharpest difference is the service list: FBA prep, forwarding to FBA, Amazon returns and removals, and Seller Fulfilled Prime, with a myFLEX WMS on top.

The commercial terms are stated more openly than at ShipBob: zero onboarding cost, a flexible contract, and pick and pack priced per order with materials and labels included. Tariffs and the notice period are not shown. The company profile gives no founding year, and shopper-facing tracking is little described.

What FLEX. Fulfillment does better than ShipBob

  • FBA prep and forwarding are core services
  • Zero onboarding cost is stated on the site
  • Per-order pricing includes materials and labels
  • VAT and EORI numbers are published

Where FLEX. Fulfillment is a step down from ShipBob

  • No tariffs and no notice period shown
  • Little on branded tracking pages for shoppers
  • The UK site is a separate market with customs steps

Standout against ShipBob. It treats Amazon FBA preparation as its own service line, next to webshop orders.

Green Fulfilment

UK B Corp 3PL with Glasgow and Swindon sites and one Dutch warehouse

London (registered office); sites in Glasgow and Swindon, United KingdomPersonalised quote based on order volume, D2C and B2B split, packaging, storage and personalisation; basic API connections free#6 in Ecommerce Fulfillment Services (3PL)

Best for: UK and Irish brands, or EU brands selling into the UK, with shoebox-sized products and a sustainability aim

Green Fulfilment Ltd, incorporated in England and Wales and founded in 2016, is B Corp certified since 2024. Against ShipBob it narrows the audience: the pricing page speaks to brands from about 500 orders a month with shoebox-sized products, and basic API connections are free.

The honest limit is geography. Contracting is British, EU orders from Glasgow or Swindon need customs handling, and only the Venlo warehouse in the Netherlands avoids that. There is a single EU site, no published prices, and custom reporting or multi-platform work can cost extra.

What Green Fulfilment does better than ShipBob

  • B Corp certification and Scope 3 emissions tracking
  • Basic API integrations are free
  • Clear profile of the ideal customer and order volume
  • Virtual warehouse tours

Where Green Fulfilment is a step down from ShipBob

  • Only one EU warehouse, in Venlo
  • Contracting entity is British, outside the EEA
  • Large or heavy goods are outside its sweet spot

Standout against ShipBob. It states the target order volume, about 500 orders a month, up front.

fulfilmentcrowd

Platform company that routes stock through partner warehouses in four regions

Chorley, United KingdomNot published; speak to an expert#7 in Ecommerce Fulfillment Services (3PL)

Best for: ERP-driven omnichannel brands that want one platform and one contract for UK, EU, US and Australian stock

fulfilmentcrowd Ltd of Chorley was founded in 1993 as Exact Abacus Ltd and does not own its warehouses. Its business model page says it brings space from logistics providers around the world onto its own technology. Against ShipBob, that makes it a software layer over partner sites in the UK, EU, USA and Australia.

Integrations include Oracle NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics and Linnworks, aimed at brands with an ERP. The UK company is the contracting entity on the .com site while the US site is separate, so check which entity signs for each territory. Pricing is not published, and the physical service level depends on the partner.

What fulfilmentcrowd does better than ShipBob

  • One platform over UK, EU, US and Australian stock
  • NetSuite, Dynamics and Linnworks integrations
  • Named managing director and registered office
  • English and German site versions

Where fulfilmentcrowd is a step down from ShipBob

  • Warehouses are run by partners, not by the company
  • A separate US site and entity
  • Pitched at larger omnichannel brands

Standout against ShipBob. It is a platform business that supplies warehouse space it does not own.

FIEGE

Family-owned logistics group for large volumes, peaks and special handling

Greven, GermanyCustom offers; no prices on the site#8 in Ecommerce Fulfillment Services (3PL)

Best for: Established retailers and brands with large volumes, seasonal peaks and special handling needs

FIEGE Logistik Stiftung & Co. KG of Greven, registered at Amtsgericht Steinfurt HRA 2007, describes itself as a family business with over 150 years of history. Against ShipBob, it is a group-scale operator with 136 locations in 14 countries, a vendor figure, rather than a platform sold on a sign-up page.

Its eCommerce division lists fulfilment, space on demand for peaks, returns management, multi-carrier parcel shipping, marketplace management and customer service. Offers are custom, no prices are published, and terms are tied to the ADSp forwarding conditions. A shop with a few hundred orders a month will find that overkill.

What FIEGE does better than ShipBob

  • Space on demand for peak periods
  • Marketplace and order management software
  • Customer service and receivables available
  • Full German commercial-register details

Where FIEGE is a step down from ShipBob

  • Sales-led onboarding and custom contracts
  • No published prices or minimum volumes
  • Too large for small shops

Standout against ShipBob. It can add warehouse space on demand to absorb seasonal peaks.

#9

GEODIS

French logistics group that covers fulfillment and transport together

Levallois-Perret, FranceProject based; contact form, no prices published#9 in Ecommerce Fulfillment Services (3PL)

Best for: Retailers and marketplaces that want warehousing, fulfillment and transport from one logistics group

GEODIS SA is registered in Nanterre under number 542 084 322 with a share capital of 404,461,760 EUR, and its fulfillment line is aimed at professionals only. Against ShipBob, the pitch is breadth: omnichannel and marketplace fulfillment, outsourced warehouses and transport in the same group.

Its page says returns from all channels are handled, including reboxing, ticketing, tagging, garment repairs and recycling. Prices, minimums and warehouse counts per country are not stated, and onboarding goes through a contact form. Only the Dutch English edition of the site was read, so confirm which GEODIS company signs the contract.

What GEODIS does better than ShipBob

  • Transport and freight sit in the same group
  • Returns with repair and recycling services
  • Marketplace fulfillment service for online platforms
  • Full French register details published

Where GEODIS is a step down from ShipBob

  • No prices or minimums
  • Lead-form onboarding only
  • Service descriptions stay general

Standout against ShipBob. It combines warehousing, marketplace fulfillment and freight transport under one French group.

Rhenus Warehousing Solutions

German contract-logistics group with automated e-commerce sites and a wide footprint

Holzwickede, GermanyProject based; contact form, no prices published#10 in Ecommerce Fulfillment Services (3PL)

Best for: Brands that need a dedicated or shared warehouse with automation across many European countries

Rhenus Warehousing Solutions belongs to Rhenus SE & Co. KG of Holzwickede, registered at Hamm HRA 2448, and lists more than 120 locations in 19 countries. Against ShipBob, it offers dedicated, multi-user and in-house logistics models rather than one standard shared service.

A press release dated 22 October 2026 describes an AutoStore installation at Bolesławiec, Poland, built as an e-commerce solution. No e-commerce product page was found, shop integrations are not described, prices are not published, and contracts are agreed per site, which slows onboarding compared with platform-led providers.

What Rhenus Warehousing Solutions does better than ShipBob

  • 120+ locations in 19 countries
  • Dedicated, multi-user and in-house operating models
  • Automated AutoStore site in Poland
  • Full commercial-register details published

Where Rhenus Warehousing Solutions is a step down from ShipBob

  • No prices or minimum volumes
  • Shop integrations and merchant dashboard not described
  • Contract per site, slower to start

Standout against ShipBob. It offers the widest warehouse footprint on the page, 120+ locations in 19 countries.

#11

ID Logistics

French contract logistics group for very large retail clients

Orgon, FranceProject based; contact form, no prices published#11 in Ecommerce Fulfillment Services (3PL)

Best for: Large retailers outsourcing a whole distribution centre with automation and reverse logistics

ID Logistics Group is registered in Orgon, France, at the Tarascon commercial court under number 433 691 862. Against ShipBob, it serves a different customer: bespoke projects for large clients, with omnichannel distribution, reverse logistics and second-life activities.

Public detail is thin. The site is a corporate profile with no pricing, minimums, shop integrations or merchant dashboard, and operations span Europe, the Americas and Asia, so confirm which national subsidiary signs. This entry stays short because less operational detail is public than for the others.

What ID Logistics does better than ShipBob

  • Reverse logistics and second-life activities in the same service
  • Automated sorting and goods-to-person shuttles

Where ID Logistics is a step down from ShipBob

  • No prices, minimums or shop integrations described

Standout against ShipBob. It handles very large reference counts with reverse logistics included.

What actually breaks when you switch

The first break is stock. Moving inventory between 3PLs takes a count at the old site, a transfer or a sell-down, and a booking-in at the new one, and for a few weeks you hold stock in two places.

Ask the new provider what inbound handling costs, what unique identifiers it needs and how it reconciles differences. Also check what the ShipBob agreement says about notice and removal fees, because the pages read for this task do not cover its terms.

The second break is the connector layer. Your shop, marketplace and carrier accounts must be re-pointed, and order status flows back through a new system. Bigblue offers 1-click integrations, Zenfulfillment lists Shopify, WooCommerce, Shopware, Xentral and Billbee, and Monta lists bol.com, Amazon, Kaufland, ManoMano and Mirakl. With the group-scale providers, integrations are a project, so budget weeks for them and test with a live batch of orders before you flip the switch.

Does switching from ShipBob mean my stock has to leave Europe or move far?

Not necessarily. ShipBob says in its pricing FAQ that it runs fulfillment centres in Europe, so your stock may already sit in a European building. What changes when you move is the company that owns the contract and the system that holds your orders. The warehouses of the alternatives are in France, Germany, Spain, the Netherlands, Belgium, Poland, England and Scotland, so a French or German brand can usually find a site close to its buyers.

The practical step is a stock transfer: you ship pallets from the old warehouse to the new one, or you sell down and send new inbound to the new provider. Ask each candidate how it books in stock, what it charges for inbound handling and whether it can match the item master you already export.

Which European 3PL is closest to a self-serve model like ShipBob's?

Bigblue comes nearest to a software-first approach. Its plans are priced publicly, a merchant app covers stock, tracking and returns, and its 1-click integrations let a small shop connect without a project plan. Monta offers a customer portal and a REST API, and Zenfulfillment runs ZenOS, which connects Shopify, WooCommerce, Shopware, Xentral and Billbee.

The group-scale firms on the page work the other way round. FIEGE, GEODIS, Rhenus and ID Logistics start with a contact form and a scoping call, so expect a quote after discussion rather than a sign-up page. For a shop with a few hundred orders a month, the first three are the realistic shortlist.

Which one to pick

For a small or mid-sized direct-to-consumer brand, start with Bigblue, Monta and Zenfulfillment: they have their own merchant software and sell to shops of your size. Pick Bigblue if branded tracking, returns and public plan prices matter, Monta if you sell on bol.com and want no permanent contract, and Zenfulfillment if most customers are in Germany and a checkout delivery date helps conversion.

For specialist cases, choose Active Ants for small, light items, FLEX. Fulfillment for Amazon FBA prep, and Green Fulfilment for UK-focused brands with a B Corp preference. Large retailers with peaks and special handling should open talks with FIEGE, GEODIS, Rhenus or ID Logistics, accepting that prices come only after scoping. Stay with ShipBob if your customers are mainly in the United States, since that is where its contract and processing sit.

Frequently Asked Questions

It depends on the criterion. Bigblue is the first listed because it publishes platform plans and runs warehouses in France, Germany, Spain and the UK. Monta Fulfilment suits Dutch and Benelux bol.com sellers that want no permanent contract, Zenfulfillment suits German shops that promise next-day delivery, and Active Ants suits small, light items picked by AutoStore robots.

Yes. ShipBob, Inc. is headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, and its privacy policy says it is based in the United States and processes personal data there. Its pricing FAQ also mentions fulfillment centres in Europe. The alternatives on this page contract through companies in the EU or the UK instead.

Mostly not. Bigblue prints its software plans, and FLEX. Fulfillment states a zero onboarding cost and per-order pricing that includes materials and labels. Zenfulfillment sends a price list by email after a form, and Active Ants, FIEGE, GEODIS, Rhenus and ID Logistics quote on request. ShipBob also gives no rates on its pricing page.

FLEX. Fulfillment lists FBA prep, forwarding to FBA, and Amazon returns and removals as core services, and it connects Amazon, eBay and Shopify. Monta Fulfilment and Active Ants also list Amazon connectors, so a seller who uses FBA only as an overflow channel can compare all three.

Probably not as a first choice. FIEGE says it serves corporate groups and start-ups, but onboarding runs through a sales contact. GEODIS publishes no minimums and offers a lead form only, and ID Logistics describes bespoke projects for large clients. Small shops will find Bigblue, Monta, Zenfulfillment or Green Fulfilment easier to start with.
