European Alternatives to Indeed
Looking for a European alternative to Indeed? Indeed's terms of service name Indeed, Inc. as the counterparty and send disputes to arbitration in Travis County, Texas, and the site states that Indeed and its affiliates are owned by a Japanese parent, Recruit Holdings Co., Ltd.
The European boards below are national portals, a graduate network, a free multiposting tool and an English-language board for Germany, each contracted through a company registered in Europe.
How we rank these tools — 4-step process
-
1
European ownership, verified
The company is headquartered and incorporated in the EU, EEA, the UK, Switzerland or Israel, and processes customer data in Europe or Israel. A US parent company disqualifies a tool from this page regardless of where its servers are.
-
2
Category fit and hands-on review
What the tool actually does, who it suits, and where it falls short — checked against the vendor’s own documentation, changelog and pricing page rather than its marketing copy.
-
3
Compliance and pricing check
GDPR posture, hosting location and the prices quoted on this page are verified against the vendor’s public pricing before publication, and re-checked when we revisit the category.
-
4
Position on this page
Placement on this page can be paid, and that can affect which tools appear here and the order they appear in. It never buys a good review: a tool that fails the checks above is not here at any price, and payment does not change the shortcomings we write about. A vendor can ask us to correct a factual error — not to remove a criticism.
Vendors can pay for visibility on this page. It never changes what an entry says about a product, including the criticism, and we earn nothing when you click through to a vendor. Vendors can pay for more visibility, higher up on the review pages; it never affects which tools are listed. Editorial policy

Key takeaways
- Indeed's terms name Indeed, Inc. in Austin, Texas for United States users and Indeed Ireland Operations Limited in Dublin for users outside the United States and Japan.
- Indeed states that it is directly or indirectly owned by Recruit Holdings Co., Ltd., a publicly traded Japanese company.
- Indeed's terms call every job ad advertising and let Indeed add labels such as Sponsored or Urgently Hiring, with the frequency of Urgent labels left to Indeed.
- Indeed's terms forbid bots, scrapers and AI agents from accessing the site in bulk without written permission, while Arbeitnow publishes a free job API that needs no key.
- JobTeaser (France) for graduates, Arbeitnow (Germany) at €199 per post, and JOIN (Switzerland) with a free tier are the European tools on this page that replace a specific part of Indeed rather than the whole.
Why people leave Indeed
Indeed is a search engine for vacancies. Employers post ads or let their applicant tracking system feed it, candidates search and apply, and Indeed earns from the employer side. Its own about page calls it the world's number one job site, citing Comscore visit data for March 2026, and puts the numbers at 685 million job seeker profiles, more than 3.5 million employers and 31 hires every minute. All of these are Indeed's figures, not independent counts.
The legal picture is more European than people expect. The terms we read on 29 October 2026 name Indeed, Inc. in Austin, Texas as the contracting party for United States users, and Indeed Ireland Operations Limited in Dublin for users outside the United States and Japan.
Employers served by Indeed's German, French, Italian or UK offices are even given their own national law and courts. What does not change is ownership: the same terms state that Indeed and its affiliates belong to a Japanese listed parent, Recruit Holdings Co., Ltd.
So the reason to look elsewhere is rarely a missing European contract. It is a question of who the platform is built for. A board of that size optimises for volume of clicks, treats job ads as advertising and keeps its data behind a bot ban. Smaller European boards trade reach for something specific: a national market, a student audience, a flat fee or an open interface.
- The parent company is Japanese and the US entity sits in Texas Indeed, Inc. has its address in Austin, and for United States users the terms send disputes to arbitration run by the American Arbitration Association under Texas law, with Travis County courts for what arbitration does not cover. Anyone outside the United States lands on the Irish entity instead. If your procurement policy asks who owns your recruiting data layer, the answer in both cases leads to Recruit Holdings in Japan, and the US entity keeps its address in Austin.
- Job ads are treated as advertising, with labels Indeed controls The employer terms say every job ad is advertising and that Indeed may attach labels such as Sponsored, Urgent, Urgently Hiring, Promoted or Paid. If you switch on an Urgent label, how often it appears is left to Indeed's sole discretion. Indeed may also show a pay estimate on an ad unless you state the real compensation. A board with a flat price, such as Arbeitnow, gives you less of this to manage.
- The data stays behind a bot clause Indeed's terms prohibit bots, scrapers, spiders and AI agents that access the site in bulk without written permission, and allow crawling only as set out in robots.txt. Resume search is limited to contacting individuals about relevant ads. For an analyst or publisher who wants a jobs feed, Adzuna's public API and Arbeitnow's key-free job API sit on the other side of that line.
- One platform for every candidate, in every country Indeed operates in more than 60 countries and treats a graduate, a warehouse operator and a data engineer as the same kind of searcher. Boards built around one audience can reach it more directly: JobTeaser through university career centres, Jobindex through Danish candidate profiles, karriere.at through Austrian talent search. A narrow audience is the trade you accept for that precision.
What you have to replace, not just match
What you replace is not only the place where an ad appears.
Indeed also carries an applicant flow, because candidates apply from the listing, and the terms put the rest on the employer: once information is shared, the employer's own policies govern its use, and Indeed says it is not responsible for the employer application process. Connected applicant tracking systems use Indeed's APIs under separate API terms, with documentation on docs.indeed.com. If a tracker feeds Indeed today, check each European board for an equivalent feed before you cancel.
Then there is the buying model. Indeed's Careersites product, for example, runs on a fixed term set out in an IO (order form), billed monthly in advance, and cannot be paused or ended during that term.
European alternatives differ more in how they charge than in what they show: a published fee per vacancy at Arbeitnow, a stated single-ad price and a pay-per-application option at Reed, budget moved by cost per application at Joblift, and quote-based packages at most national portals.
Finally, replace the reach with a plan, not a hope. No tool on this page covers more than a country or a specific audience, apart from JOIN, which distributes one vacancy to many boards. A realistic migration pairs a national portal for the country where you hire most with JOIN or an ATS for distribution, and keeps Indeed for markets where none of these has a presence.

How each alternative compares to Indeed
Best for: Employers with a recurring intake of interns, trainees and graduates across several countries
JobTeaser, a Paris company founded in 2009, sits inside university career centres, so a student meets your ad through the school they already use. Against Indeed, where a final-year student and a senior engineer share one search page, this narrows the audience to the one you are trying to reach. The vendor says the network connects about 5 million students and recent graduates with about 3,000 companies in 25 countries.
The cost of the narrower audience is volume. JobTeaser carries far fewer vacancies than a general aggregator, access to some schools depends on that school's own partnership, and prices are quote-based. The legal notice names AWS EMEA SARL in Luxembourg as host, which gives you a stated EU location that Indeed's terms do not offer in that form.
What JobTeaser does better than Indeed
- Reaches students through their own career centres rather than a general feed
- Publisher registered in Paris with data hosted in the EU
- Company profiles and recruitment events alongside the ads
- Built around a repeating autumn intake
Where JobTeaser is a step down from Indeed
- Useless for experienced or senior hiring
- Reach depends on which schools have partnered
- No published prices, where Indeed is self-serve
Standout against Indeed. It is the only tool on the page that reaches candidates through their university instead of through a search box.
Best for: Small companies hiring skilled workers in Germany from the local market or from abroad
Arbeitnow lists vacancies for English speakers in Germany and charges €199 per post, live immediately after payment and shown for 30 days. That is the clearest contrast with Indeed's advertising model, where the terms let Indeed attach its own labels to your ad. The site says around 48% of its candidates are in Germany, and it adds filters for visa sponsorship and relocation.
The operator is one developer in Berlin named in the imprint, which makes support and continuity those of one person. The pages we read describe posting and a candidate site, not applicant tracking or a CV database. Its free job API, which needs no key, is the opposite of Indeed's bot clause, and listings also appear in Google Jobs.
What Arbeitnow does better than Indeed
- One published price, €199, with no label rules or bidding
- Visa sponsorship and relocation filters
- Free job API without a key, where Indeed restricts bulk access
- A named responsible party in Germany
Where Arbeitnow is a step down from Indeed
- A single person runs it, so continuity is thin
- Mostly Germany, nothing like Indeed's 60 countries
- No CV database or applicant tracking described
Standout against Indeed. It is the one board here that publishes its price per vacancy and its job data in the same place.
Best for: Companies that hire a few times a year and want one inbox for applications from many boards
JOIN Solutions AG of Switzerland starts at distribution: a free tier publishes a vacancy, sends it to a wide set of boards and aggregators, and collects the applications. Against Indeed, you post once and the vacancy can appear on several boards, which suits a company that otherwise copies ads between sites. Its EU data location is stated on our tool page.
Switzerland is covered by an adequacy decision but sits outside the EEA, so a strict EU-established rule is not met by the Swiss contracting entity. The free tier is also not the whole story, because paid job promotion is where the model earns, and structured selection is lighter than in a full tracker such as softgarden or Teamtailor.
What JOIN does better than Indeed
- Publishes one vacancy to many boards from a free tier
- Applications from every board arrive in one inbox
- No implementation project to get started
- Swiss company with EU-stated data location
Where JOIN is a step down from Indeed
- Not EU-established, only covered by an adequacy decision
- Paid promotion decides how far the vacancy travels
- Fewer selection features than a full applicant tracking system
Standout against Indeed. It makes the question which board to pick less important, because the vacancy goes to many at once.
Best for: Employers recruiting in Denmark who want local candidate profiles as well as ad space
Jobindex A/S, registered in Denmark under CVR 21367087 at Carl Jacobsens Vej 29-31 in Valby, runs a portal with candidate profiles, a job agent that mails new matches, and video interviews. The front page showed about 35,400 vacancies on 29 October 2026. Compared with Indeed's single global index, the Danish scope lets a recruiter search local profiles rather than rely on applications alone.
Candidates control whether their profile is visible and can block named companies, and the privacy policy names a data protection officer. The catch is language: the policy is in Danish, the site has an English toggle, employer prices are not shown and the hosting location is not stated on the pages we read.
What Jobindex does better than Indeed
- Searchable local profiles with visibility and blocking controls
- Danish registered company with a named data protection officer
- Video interviews handled in the same platform
- Job agent and tests that enrich the candidate profile
Where Jobindex is a step down from Indeed
- Denmark only
- Policy text and much of the interface in Danish
- No employer prices shown, unlike a self-serve Indeed account
Standout against Indeed. The candidate decides who may see a profile, and that decision is built into the portal.
Best for: Employers hiring in Austria who want to approach passive candidates as well as publish ads
karriere.at GmbH, Firmenbuch number FN 256668d, has operated since 2004 from Linz and Vienna and sells three things: job ads, active talent search and employer branding. A product advisor on the employer site suggests a combination. Against Indeed, the difference is that outreach to people who are not applying sits in the same account as the ad.
Reach figures on the employer pages, such as 85% awareness among the working-age population and up to 1.3 million job seekers a month, are the vendor's own and not independently checked. Prices come after a personal consultation, the language is German, and the market is Austria only.
What karriere.at does better than Indeed
- Ads, talent search and branding bought from one Austrian company
- Firmenbuch number and both office addresses in the imprint
- Payroll cost calculator for employers
Where karriere.at is a step down from Indeed
- Austria only, German-language
- No public price, so budgeting begins with a call
- Reach claims cannot be checked from outside
Standout against Indeed. Its talent search covers Austrian candidates who never open a job ad.
Best for: Employers hiring in Switzerland who want salary context and German, French and English audiences
jobs.ch belongs to JobCloud AG in Zurich, with JobCloud SA in Les Acacias handling French-speaking Switzerland. The salary estimator gives pay data for the Swiss market, and a CV builder and an AI-assisted motivation letter tool serve candidates. Compared with Indeed's global search, the language filters and the regional split match how Swiss hiring is actually organised.
The about page quotes more than 80,000 new offers a month and over 49,000 companies, both vendor claims. Switzerland is outside the EU, so a rule that demands an EU-established supplier is not met. Employer prices and the hosting location were not on the pages we could open.
What jobs.ch does better than Indeed
- Interface and filters in German, French and English
- Salary estimator for Switzerland on the board itself
- Swiss imprint naming two group companies
Where jobs.ch is a step down from Indeed
- Not EU-established
- Switzerland only
- Employer prices not published
Standout against Indeed. Salary figures and job ads sit side by side without a separate pay-research site.
Best for: Job seekers who want pay data beside the search, and publishers or analysts who need a jobs feed
Adzuna Limited, registered in England and Wales under number 7301894 at 212 New Kings Road, London, crawls vacancies from many sources into one search box, the same format as Indeed. It adds salary statistics, ValueMyCV and ApplyIQ, and lists country sites for 19 markets. The UK site claims over 1 million live jobs.
For businesses it sells the Adzuna Intelligence API, and a partner programme lets publishers use its listings, which contrasts with Indeed's bulk-access ban. The group has offices in London, Minneapolis, Paris and Sydney, and bought a US firm, GetWork, in 2022. The UK is outside the EU, and listing quality depends on source.
What Adzuna does better than Indeed
- Open business API and partner programme for listings data
- Salary statistics and CV valuation next to the search
- UK company number and registered office in its terms
Where Adzuna is a step down from Indeed
- Aggregated listings vary in quality
- UK is outside the EU and the group has US and Australian offices
- Advertiser prices not shown
Standout against Indeed. It is the only tool here that works like Indeed and sells the data behind it.
Best for: Employers hiring professionals in Germany, Austria and Switzerland
Xing is a professional network founded in Hamburg in 2003, with over 22 million members in German-speaking countries according to our tool page. Where Indeed is a pure vacancy index, Xing starts from profiles, so a recruiter can approach people who have not applied. Its job board filters by location, salary range, industry and work model.
Xing belongs to NEW WORK SE, which Burda Digital SE took private in 2025 through a squeeze-out. Recruiters use the onlyfy TalentManager for candidate search and tracking. Free membership exists, and Premium starts at €7.95 a month. Outside the DACH region its reach thins quickly.
What Xing does better than Indeed
- Profiles, groups and events next to the listings
- German company with strong DACH presence
- Recruiter tooling in onlyfy for sourcing
Where Xing is a step down from Indeed
- Hardly any reach beyond DACH
- Fewer vacancies than a general aggregator
- Full recruiter features need a separate paid product
Standout against Indeed. Candidates can be found and approached by profile, not only by the ad they answered.
Best for: UK employers who want a price on screen and may prefer to pay for applications
Reed Online Limited sells a single ad from £89 plus VAT, a monthly plan from £125 that includes job and CV search, and a pay-per-application option. Showing entry prices on the recruiter page is the main contrast with Indeed, where the terms call every job ad advertising.
CV Search opens the candidate database, and the vendor claims 26 million candidates and about 80,000 applications a day. Prices are in pounds sterling, the UK is outside the EU, and Reed's sister company Reed Specialist Recruitment means agencies and employers advertise on the same board.
What Reed does better than Indeed
- Entry prices shown before any sales call
- Pay-per-application as a buying option
- CV Search included in monthly plans
Where Reed is a step down from Indeed
- UK only, prices in pounds with VAT extra
- Not EU-established
- Agencies share the board with employers
Standout against Indeed. Of all the European boards here it is the one that lets you pay for applications instead of visibility.
Best for: German employers filling many blue-collar and grey-collar vacancies with an agency-style provider
Joblift Solutions GmbH, entered at Amtsgericht Hamburg under HRB 200320, runs a job search site for Germany and sells programmatic recruiting. Its software splits a budget over job boards, search engines and social campaigns by cost per application. Next to Indeed's sponsored jobs, the pitch is that budget follows performance and applications go to any ATS.
The vendor says over 80% of open jobs are blue-collar or grey-collar, and its focus is volume hiring. There is no price list, the service is closer to a managed agency than a self-serve tool, and the same vacancy can end up on several boards. Senior searches and other countries are poor fits.
What Joblift does better than Indeed
- Budget allocated by cost per application
- Hand-off of applications to any applicant tracking system
- Social media campaigns included
Where Joblift is a step down from Indeed
- No published pricing
- Germany and high-volume roles only
- Limited self-serve control
Standout against Indeed. The provider manages placement and budget daily, which Indeed leaves to you.
Best for: Employers hiring in Spain who want a local portal with candidate-facing salary and training content
InfoJobs, credited in its footer to Adevinta Jobs S.L.U., organises search by every Spanish province and links to a salaries section, a training section and public employment listings. Against Indeed's single global search, it is built around Spanish geography and the home page shows vacancy counts by sector.
It is part of a wider marketplace group, and we did not verify ownership from vendor pages, because the legal and privacy pages returned errors and the entity comes from the footer only. The site is in Spanish, employer prices are not published, and coverage is Spain only.
What InfoJobs does better than Indeed
- Province-level search for Spain
- Public-sector listings in the same portal
- Salary and course content for candidates
Where InfoJobs is a step down from Indeed
- Spain only, Spanish-language site
- Employer prices not shown
- Ownership of the wider group not verified
Standout against Indeed. Public employment listings sit beside private-sector ads in the same search.
What actually breaks when you switch
The first thing that breaks is the applicant flow. Indeed applications often reach you through an ATS connection or an Indeed inbox, and a European board delivers candidates to a different place. Run one live vacancy through each channel before you move budget, and check that your tracker records the source of each applicant, so you can compare boards afterwards.
The second is the contract. Careersites and similar products are sold for a fixed term and billed monthly in advance, with no pause during the term, so read the order form before assuming you can leave mid-year. National portals tend to sell by quote, which can mean a new negotiation per country, while Arbeitnow and Reed publish prices you can plan against. Expect also a retraining cost: each recruiter has to learn several boards in place of one.
Does Indeed have a European entity, and does that make a European alternative pointless?
It has several. The terms list Indeed Ireland Operations Limited in Dublin for users outside the United States and Japan, and Indeed Deutschland GmbH in Duesseldorf for employers its German office supports, who are given German law and the applicable German courts. Employers served from France, Italy and the UK get French, Italian and English law respectively. If your only worry is that no European contract exists, Indeed answers it.
What an alternative changes is who owns the platform, what the product is built to do, and how you pay. Indeed says it belongs to a Japanese listed group and runs a US head office, so a procurement rule about the ultimate parent does not go away. If your rule is only about the contracting party, staying with Indeed can pass, and the case for moving rests on cost model and audience.
Can I use a European job board together with Indeed instead of replacing it?
Yes, and for most employers that is the sensible first step. Post the same vacancy through JOIN, which starts on a free tier and pushes it to many boards, and add a national portal for the country where you hire. Then compare where applications come from over a quarter before cancelling anything.
Keep an eye on the applicant intake. If Indeed's applications reach you through an ATS integration, the European boards send candidates to their own inboxes or to your tracker in a different way, so test the hand-off with one real vacancy. Joblift, for example, says it can deliver applications to any applicant tracking system.
Which one to pick
Pick by the hire, not by the brand. For graduates and interns choose JobTeaser. For English-speaking hires in Germany choose Arbeitnow, and for volume roles in Germany Joblift. For Denmark, Austria, Switzerland and Spain choose Jobindex, karriere.at, jobs.ch or InfoJobs, and for the UK choose Reed. Use Xing when the target is a DACH professional you want to approach by profile.
If you hire across several countries, put JOIN in front, because it publishes once to many boards, and add a national portal where volume justifies it. Adzuna is the pick when you want an Indeed-style search with salary data or need a jobs feed. Keep Indeed where none of these has a presence: it is bigger than any of them, and it does have Irish and German entities.
Frequently Asked Questions
No single board replaces Indeed across countries, so the answer depends on where and whom you hire. JobTeaser (France) suits graduate and internship hiring, Arbeitnow (Germany) suits English-speaking hires in Germany, JOIN (Switzerland) posts one vacancy to many boards, and Jobindex (Denmark), karriere.at (Austria), jobs.ch (Switzerland), Reed (UK) and InfoJobs (Spain) are the national portals. Adzuna (UK) is the closest to Indeed's search-engine format.
Indeed's terms say that Indeed and its affiliates are directly or indirectly owned by a publicly traded Japanese parent company, Recruit Holdings Co., Ltd. The about page repeats that Indeed is a subsidiary of Recruit Holdings. For users in the United States the contracting company is Indeed, Inc. in Austin, Texas.
For users outside the United States and Japan the terms name Indeed Ireland Operations Limited in Dublin. Employers primarily supported by Indeed's German office contract with Indeed Deutschland GmbH in Duesseldorf under German law, and employers served from France, Italy or the UK get their own national law. We read the terms on 29 October 2026.
JOIN offers a free tier that publishes a vacancy and distributes it to boards and aggregators, with paid plans for more, and it is a Swiss company with EU hosting. Check what the free tier covers, because the model earns on paid promotion. Arbeitnow is not free but charges a flat €199 per post for 30 days.
The terms prohibit bots, scrapers, spiders and AI agents that access the site in bulk without Indeed's written permission, and conditionally allow crawling only as described in robots.txt. Adzuna offers a business API called the Adzuna Intelligence API, and Arbeitnow publishes a free job API that needs no key.
