European Alternatives to Google Shopping
Looking for a European alternative to Google Shopping? Google Shopping is a product search surface run by Google, and the terms and privacy pages that would name its contracting entity could not be read in our fetch, so we state no jurisdiction detail beyond that it is a Google service. The Google Shopping page we fetched offers sign-in, a language list and a consent notice.
The European price comparison sites below each publish a named operator in Austria, Sweden, Finland, Greece, Germany, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland or the Czech Republic, with price history, alerts, deals and saved lists on several of them.
How we rank these tools — 4-step process
-
1
European ownership, verified
The company is headquartered and incorporated in the EU, EEA, the UK, Switzerland or Israel, and processes customer data in Europe or Israel. A US parent company disqualifies a tool from this page regardless of where its servers are.
-
2
Category fit and hands-on review
What the tool actually does, who it suits, and where it falls short — checked against the vendor’s own documentation, changelog and pricing page rather than its marketing copy.
-
3
Compliance and pricing check
GDPR posture, hosting location and the prices quoted on this page are verified against the vendor’s public pricing before publication, and re-checked when we revisit the category.
-
4
Position on this page
Placement on this page can be paid, and that can affect which tools appear here and the order they appear in. It never buys a good review: a tool that fails the checks above is not here at any price, and payment does not change the shortcomings we write about. A vendor can ask us to correct a factual error — not to remove a criticism.
Vendors can pay for visibility on this page. It never changes what an entry says about a product, including the criticism, and we earn nothing when you click through to a vendor. Vendors can pay for more visibility, higher up on the review pages; it never affects which tools are listed. Editorial policy

Key takeaways
- Google Shopping is a product search surface run by Google in the United States, and its own terms and privacy pages could not be read in our fetch.
- Geizhals (Vienna) discloses its owners up to the beneficial owner, and Kelkoo SAS (Paris) prints its company number, VAT number and address in the footer.
- BestPrice, Hintaopas and billiger.de offer price history, alerts or a 30-day best price check, which a plain offer grid does not.
- Toppreise.ch, Beslist.nl and Zboží.cz each serve one national market, so they cover fewer shops than a global search surface.
- Twelve European price comparison sites are listed here, in Austria, Sweden, Greece, Finland, Germany, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland and the Czech Republic.
Why people leave Google Shopping
Google Shopping is the product search that Google runs next to its web search: you type a product name, and you get a grid of offers from many online shops. The company behind it is Google, part of Alphabet in the United States. The page we fetched offered sign-in, a language list and a consent notice, and the terms and privacy pages that would name the contracting entity did not load in our fetch.
That gap is the first reason people look elsewhere. A shopper who wants to know who operates a comparison site, where the company is registered and which authority handles a complaint can read all of that in the imprint of Geizhals, billiger.de or Kelkoo. For Google Shopping we could not read the equivalent pages, so we say nothing about its terms rather than guess.
The second reason is the business model behind a free comparison. A European comparison site usually states how it earns money: Hintaopas charges a shop whenever it sends a visitor, and Vergelijk.be bills advertisers per registered click. Shoppers who want that spelled out, and a national site in their own language, compare the twelve sites below.
- The operator behind the page is hard to read from the page On the pages we fetched, Google Shopping showed a language list, a sign-in link and a consent notice, with the terms behind a redirect that did not resolve. A European comparison site puts the operator in the footer. Kelkoo prints Kelkoo SAS with a Paris address, and billiger.de names solute GmbH with a Mannheim register number and two managing directors.
- Several European sites name the authority you can complain to Kelkoo's group privacy policy names the French CNIL as lead supervisory authority. Vergelijk.be points Belgian visitors to the Belgian data protection authority. Zboží.cz names a data protection officer, the Prague company Chronos Consulting. Google's own contact route for such questions was not part of what we could read, so the comparison here is about published detail, not about quality.
- Price history and alerts are built into some national sites BestPrice draws a price chart per product and lets members set price drop alerts. Hintaopas keeps a price history and adds restock notices. billiger.de measures deals against the lowest price of the last 30 days. If your reason for comparing is to avoid buying at a peak, these features answer it more directly than a plain grid of current offers.
- Local shops and local reviews sit closer to the shopper Toppreise.ch lists Swiss and Liechtenstein shops, Beslist.nl is built around Dutch webshops and Zboží.cz around Czech ones. Kieskeurig.nl puts editorial reviews next to prices. A global search surface reaches more merchants, but a national site can show shipping prices, local complaint routes and reviews written in the shopper's own language.
What you have to replace, not just match
Google Shopping is not a single country product, so no single European site replaces it everywhere. The honest replacement is one site per market you shop in. A Dutch buyer picks Beslist.nl or Kieskeurig.nl, a German buyer billiger.de or shopping24, a Swiss buyer Toppreise.ch, and a Greek buyer BestPrice.
What you give up is reach. Geizhals, Prisjakt and Vergelijk.be have sister sites in several countries, and Kelkoo says it works across 29 markets, but each site we read covers only the shops that connected to it. Expect some retailers that Google Shopping can show to be missing, especially small shops in other countries.
What you also replace is the habit of starting in a web search. If you want price tracking, an account is usually involved: Prisjakt offers saved lists, billiger.de a notepad with a free account, Hintaopas a free membership. Plan for a handful of logins instead of one, and decide early which markets matter enough to deserve one.
The alternatives compared
| Position | Tool | Headquarters | Pricing | Jurisdiction |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| #1 | Geizhals | Vienna, Austria | No consumer price shown on the pages we read | EU (Austria) |
| #2 | Prisjakt (PriceSpy) | Ängelholm, Sweden | No consumer price shown on the pages we read | EU (Sweden) |
| #3 | BestPrice | Moires, Heraklion, Crete, Greece | Free for consumers, according to the About page | EU (Greece) |
| #4 | Hintaopas | not stated (Finland), Finland | Free for consumers, according to the site's own description; shops are charged for referred visitors | EU (Finland) |
| #5 | billiger.de | Karlsruhe, Germany | Free account registration stated; no other consumer price shown | EU (Germany) |
| #6 | Toppreise.ch | Bellenberg, Germany | Free, non-binding information for consumers, according to the terms | EU (Germany) |

| #12 | shopping24 | Hamburg, Germany | No consumer price shown on the pages we read | EU (Germany) |
How each alternative compares to Google Shopping
Best for: Hardware and electronics shoppers in Austria and Germany who care who owns the site
Geizhals is operated by Preisvergleich Internet Services AG at Rothschildplatz 3 in Vienna, registered at the Handelsgericht Wien under FN 197241k. Its imprint traces the chain upward to Heise Gruppe GmbH & Co. KG in Hannover and names Ansgar Heise as indirect beneficial owner with 61 percent. Google Shopping pages we fetched showed no operating entity at all.
The site offers category navigation, wish lists, a switch between its Austrian, German and EU sites, an editorial blog and a forum. Its terms say purchase contracts form only between user and shop. Against Google Shopping, Geizhals reaches fewer merchants, and we found no consumer price statement, no price alert description and no data location.
What Geizhals does better than Google Shopping
- Names its operator, register number and board in the imprint
- Discloses ownership up to the beneficial owner
- Adds an editorial blog and a forum beside the price lists
- Lets you switch between Austrian, German and EU country sites
Where Geizhals is a step down from Google Shopping
- Fewer merchants than a global search surface
- No price alert wording in the pages we read
- The terms we read are written for shops, not shoppers
Standout against Google Shopping. Geizhals publishes its beneficial owner and his indirect share in the imprint, a level of detail no other site on this page gave.
Best for: Shoppers in Sweden and the UK who want to track prices on a saved list
Prisjakt is run by Prisjakt Sverige AB, registration number 556665-1799, at Kamengatan 6 in Ängelholm. The PriceSpy UK privacy policy names that company as data controller and lists a Data Protection Officer contact. The Swedish footer says the company has taken the shopper's side since 2002, and the site shows daily deals with the percentage reduction.
Each listing shows the lowest price, the number of shops and a rating, and an account holds saved lists and price drop notices. The tag configuration maps further domains to Norway, Denmark, France and others, but we read only the Swedish and UK sites in full. Compared with Google Shopping, the catalogue is limited to the countries Prisjakt itself serves.
What Prisjakt (PriceSpy) does better than Google Shopping
- Names a Swedish controller with registration number and address
- Offers an account with saved lists and price drop notices
- Shows a daily deals section with the reduction in percent
- Has a separate UK site that shows prices in pounds
Where Prisjakt (PriceSpy) is a step down from Google Shopping
- Covers only the countries with a Prisjakt site
- No consumer pricing statement in what we read
- Data location not stated
Standout against Google Shopping. Prisjakt is the one site here with both a Swedish and a UK edition that we could read in full.
Best for: Shoppers in Greece who want a price chart before buying
BestPrice.gr says on its About page that it compares offers from more than 4,000 Greek online shops, about 12 million offers in total. It began in 2001 as Pathfinder Shopping and took its current name in 2011. A chart shows how the lowest recorded price moved, and the page adds that the chart does not promise the price will stay put.
Registered members keep wish lists and set price drop alerts. The site states that it is not a shop and does not take part in the transaction. Two company names appear, Phaistos Networks in the privacy policy and The Best Company S.A. in the footer, and we found no page that explains how they relate. Its usage terms also forbid automated price monitoring.
What BestPrice does better than Google Shopping
- Draws a price chart with history for each product
- Offers price drop alerts and wish lists to members
- States that comparison is free for consumers
- Gives a Greek seat and tax number in the privacy policy
Where BestPrice is a step down from Google Shopping
- Greece only, in Greek
- Two company names without an explanation
- Bans automated monitoring, which hurts sellers who track competitors
Standout against Google Shopping. BestPrice forbids systematic or automated price monitoring without written permission, a restriction that matters to sellers.
Best for: Shoppers in Finland who want history, alerts and free membership
Hintaopas belongs to the Prisjakt Group. Services in Finland come mainly from Prisjakt Finland Oy, business ID 2697246-5, while the privacy policy names Prisjakt Sverige AB as the party responsible for personal data. The footer reads 2000-2026 Prisjakt Finland Oy, and the About page says the service started in 2002.
Each product page shows price history, shipping cost and stock status. Members create price watches and ask for restock notices, and the app includes a barcode scanner. The About page says membership is free and that shops pay when Hintaopas sends them a visitor. Compared with Google Shopping, only Finnish shops are listed, and the pages are in Finnish.
What Hintaopas does better than Google Shopping
- Shows price history on every product
- Sends restock notices as well as price drop alerts
- Explains in its own words how shops pay for visitors
- Includes a barcode scanner in the app
Where Hintaopas is a step down from Google Shopping
- Finnish shops only, Finnish language
- No street address for the Finnish entity in what we read
- Personal data sits with the Swedish parent
Standout against Google Shopping. Hintaopas pairs price drop alerts with restock notices, which the other sites did not describe in what we read.
Best for: German shoppers who want shipping costs and a deal check in one place
billiger.de is a brand of solute GmbH, Zeppelinstraße 15 in Karlsruhe, registered at Amtsgericht Mannheim under HRB 748044. The imprint names two managing directors, a DSA contact point and states that the site is not an online shop. Offers appear with the shipping cost beside the price, for example 279,00 EUR with 0,00 EUR shipping.
The home page reports more than 5,000 deals compared against the best price of the last 30 days. A free account unlocks a notepad and price alerts. Against Google Shopping, the catalogue is German only in what we read, the privacy text mentions third-party analysis tools, and the tariff section is run by Verivox GmbH, a different controller from solute.
What billiger.de does better than Google Shopping
- Prints the HRB number and managing directors in the imprint
- Shows shipping cost beside each offer price
- Checks deals against the best price of the last 30 days
- Names a DSA contact point
Where billiger.de is a step down from Google Shopping
- German market only in what we read
- Third-party analysis tools mentioned in the privacy text
- Tariff comparison belongs to a different company
Standout against Google Shopping. billiger.de measures its deals against the best price of the last 30 days, which gives the deal label a stated baseline.
Best for: Shoppers in Switzerland and Liechtenstein who want local shop prices in three languages
Toppreise.ch is operated by Toppreise Preisvergleich GmbH & Co. KG, Siebenbrunnen 1 in Bellenberg, Germany, and German law applies to its use. The terms call it an information service for consumers mainly in Switzerland and Liechtenstein. They say prices include statutory VAT, are non-binding, and that no contract arises between user and operator.
Offers sort by product price or shipping price, and the site offers wish lists, a product history and a product comparison in German, French and English. Only shops that joined the portal appear, so Google Shopping can show retailers that Toppreise.ch does not. Login also runs through Facebook, Google or Apple accounts, and we could not read the privacy page text.
What Toppreise.ch does better than Google Shopping
- Focuses on Swiss and Liechtenstein shops
- Sorts by shipping price or product price
- Offers wish lists and side-by-side product comparison
- Works in German, French and English
Where Toppreise.ch is a step down from Google Shopping
- Lists only shops that connected to it
- The operator's seat is in Germany, not Switzerland
- Prices can be out of date between database updates
Standout against Google Shopping. Toppreise.ch prints the time of the last database update on the page, which helps you judge how stale a price may be.
Best for: Shoppers in France who want prices that include all costs
Kelkoo SAS prints its address in the footer of kelkoo.fr, 64-66 Rue des Archives in Paris, with RCS Paris number 425 093 069. The group privacy policy names the French CNIL as lead supervisory authority. The French home page describes 45 million products in 500 shops, price drop tracking, alerts and prices that include all costs, except for new vehicles.
The French site calls itself independent and free since 1999. Against Google Shopping, Kelkoo's catalogue is smaller. The group page says the group is headquartered in London, outside the EU, presents Kelkoo as a marketing platform for advertisers, and does not state who owns the group above Kelkoo SAS. We read only the French consumer site.
What Kelkoo does better than Google Shopping
- Prints company number, VAT number and Paris address
- Names the French CNIL as supervisory authority
- Shows prices including all costs
- Tracks price drops and sends alerts
Where Kelkoo is a step down from Google Shopping
- Group headquarters in London, outside the EU
- Ownership above Kelkoo SAS not stated
- Group pages are aimed at advertisers, not shoppers
Standout against Google Shopping. Kelkoo links a footer page that explains how its results are ranked.
Best for: Dutch-speaking shoppers in Belgium who want prices and reviews on one page
Vergelijk.be lists Compare International B.V., Assendorperdijk 1 in Zwolle, chamber of commerce number 30211738, on its contact page. The privacy policy names the same company as controller, says the site belongs to Compare Group B.V., and points Belgian visitors to the Belgian data protection authority. Browsing without registration is possible.
The home page counts 341 shops, 17,566,175 products and 10,122,754 reviews when we read it, and the footer links sister sites in a dozen countries. We found no price alert or price history wording. The terms we read are the advertiser terms, which describe click billing and a Google comparison-shopping service under which shop products are listed free of charge.
What Vergelijk.be does better than Google Shopping
- Prints the operator, address and chamber of commerce number
- Combines prices with review counts on the home page
- Links sister sites in many European countries
- Lets you browse without registering
Where Vergelijk.be is a step down from Google Shopping
- No price alerts or history in what we read
- Several company names inside the group
- Terms we read cover advertisers, not shoppers
Standout against Google Shopping. Vergelijk.be states in its advertiser terms that at most five clicks from one user to one offer count per day.
Best for: Dutch shoppers who want one cart across several webshops
Beslist.nl B.V. gives Meander 825 in Arnhem as its address on the contact page, which calls the site an online shopping centre that sells nothing itself. The home page claims 100 million products. Shoppers either go to the webshop or pay through the beslist.nl Winkelwagen, a shared cart that spans several shops.
Footer links lead to webshop reviews, a page on what to do in a conflict with a shop, and a page for shops that want to connect. Black Friday deals are described as real discounts checked by the site. We did not read the privacy statement in full and found no company number, no owner and no price alert wording, and the site targets the Dutch market only.
What Beslist.nl does better than Google Shopping
- Offers a shared cart across several webshops
- Explains what to do when a shop causes a problem
- Publishes webshop reviews
- Names a Dutch B.V. and an Arnhem address
Where Beslist.nl is a step down from Google Shopping
- No company number or owner found
- Dutch market only
- No price alert wording in what we read
Standout against Google Shopping. Beslist.nl lets you pay several shops through its own Winkelwagen cart, which the other sites did not describe.
Best for: Dutch shoppers who read reviews before they compare prices
Kieskeurig.nl is part of Reshift Digital B.V., Nijverheidsweg 18 in Haarlem, a media company whose brands include Computer!Totaal, MacWorld and Gamer.nl. The home page title promises prices, reviews and deals. The menu has a Prijsdalers entry for price drops, and the footer links a best-reviewed list, a shop overview and tips for safe buying.
Sister sites exist in Belgium and, as Comparigo, in France and Germany. The privacy text covers the whole media company, and it allows sharing within the group, with outside parties only with consent. A quote form from the partner Slimster is explained as separate. We found no company number, data location or price alert description.
What Kieskeurig.nl does better than Google Shopping
- Pairs editorial reviews with the price list
- Has a dedicated price drops section
- Runs sister sites for Belgium, France and Germany
- Explains that the Slimster quote form is a separate service
Where Kieskeurig.nl is a step down from Google Shopping
- Privacy text written for the whole media company
- No company number found
- Data may be shared within the group
Standout against Google Shopping. Kieskeurig.nl is the only site here that belongs to a publisher of consumer technology magazines.
Best for: Czech shoppers who already use Seznam services
Zboží.cz is one service in the portfolio of Seznam.cz, a.s., company number 26168685, registered at the Municipal Court in Prague, section B, entry 6493, with its seat at Radlická 3294/10. The footer reads 1996 to 2026. The Seznam privacy policy names a data protection officer, Chronos Consulting, s.r.o., and requires contractual guarantees from processors.
The home page has a wide category tree and shows a Pokles ceny label or a struck-through old price on some products. Shops can register and administer their listings. The pages we read describe no price alert, no price history and no statement on whether use is free. The site is Czech only, and the policy mentions data centres without naming where they are.
What Zboží.cz does better than Google Shopping
- Names a Czech company with a register entry
- Names a data protection officer
- Labels price drops directly on product tiles
- Lets shops register and manage their own listings
Where Zboží.cz is a step down from Google Shopping
- Czech only
- No alert or history wording found
- Data centre location not stated
Standout against Google Shopping. Zboží.cz is the only site here run by a national web portal that also offers mail, maps and news.
Best for: German shoppers who browse by category and want a plain product search
shopping24 is operated by shopping24 Gesellschaft für multimediale Anwendungen mbH, An der Alster 45 in Hamburg, registered at Amtsgericht Hamburg under HRB 63371. The imprint names David Reed as CEO and Nils Grabbert as representative, and says the site is not an online shop. It offers a search and a category tree from fashion to garden.
The cookie banner lists Google Inc., Microsoft Ireland Operations Limited, Criteo SA and RTB House GmbH as partners, and tracking data is collected only after a click on Allow all. The imprint disclaims responsibility for price and product data from partner shops. We saw no price alert, price history, deals section or app, so it works as a catalogue rather than a tracker.
What shopping24 does better than Google Shopping
- Names its advertising partners openly in the cookie banner
- Collects tracking data only after consent
- Gives a Hamburg register number and named representatives
Where shopping24 is a step down from Google Shopping
- No price alerts or history in what we read
- Google Inc. is among the advertising partners
- Smaller catalogue than a global search surface
Standout against Google Shopping. shopping24 names four advertising partners by company in its consent banner.
What actually breaks when you switch
Little of Google Shopping moves with you, because there is not much to export. Any saved items or lists live in your Google account, and none of the European sites imports them. Rebuild your lists by hand on Prisjakt, billiger.de or Hintaopas, and keep a note of the products you were tracking before you stop using the old search.
Expect to create several accounts. Prisjakt, billiger.de, Hintaopas and BestPrice each ask for a free account before alerts work, and each site covers one market. Check the minimum age too, since Hintaopas sets it at 15. Shoppers who buy across borders should also test whether a site shows prices in their currency, as PriceSpy does in pounds.
Compare the same product on two sites before you commit. Prices on Toppreise.ch can lag between database updates, shopping24 and Kelkoo disclaim the accuracy of merchant data, and a shop's own page prevails over the listing. Treat a comparison site as a pointer to the shop, and confirm the final price and shipping there.
Which European price comparison site should I use if I shop in several countries?
Start with the group that already has sister sites in the countries you buy from. Geizhals runs an Austrian, a German and an EU site. Prisjakt covers Sweden and the UK in what we read, and its group also runs Hintaopas in Finland. Vergelijk.be and Kieskeurig.nl each link sister sites abroad, and Kelkoo describes 29 markets on its group page.
Expect a different feature set per country. We read only the French Kelkoo consumer site and only the Swedish and UK Prisjakt sites in full, so check that the alerts or history you want exist on the country site you will use.
Does a European comparison site sell me the product?
No, and the sites say so. billiger.de states in its imprint that it is not an online shop. shopping24 says the same and sends order questions to the shop. Beslist.nl calls itself an overview of what shops offer, although it also lets you pay through its own Winkelwagen cart. BestPrice says the transaction runs between you and the shop.
That matters when something goes wrong. The shop answers for delivery and returns, and the comparison site is only the route you took. Beslist.nl has a help page for conflicts with a webshop, and Geizhals says in its terms that purchase contracts form between user and shop only.
Which one to pick
Pick the site by country first. Geizhals suits Austrian and German hardware buyers who value an open ownership record, billiger.de suits German shoppers who want shipping costs and the 30-day deal check, and Kelkoo suits French shoppers. In the Netherlands, Beslist.nl fits a shared cart and Kieskeurig.nl fits review readers.
Pick on features second. For price history and alerts, look at Hintaopas, BestPrice and Prisjakt. For Swiss prices, Toppreise.ch. For a Czech or Belgian shopper, Zboží.cz and Vergelijk.be offer fewer tracking tools in what we read. Keep Google Shopping for products these national sites do not list, since its reach across merchants is wider.
Frequently Asked Questions
It depends on the country. Geizhals from Vienna suits Austrian and German hardware shopping, Prisjakt from Ängelholm suits Sweden and the UK, billiger.de from Karlsruhe suits Germany, Kelkoo from Paris suits France, and Beslist.nl or Kieskeurig.nl suit the Netherlands. BestPrice covers Greece, Hintaopas Finland, Toppreise.ch Switzerland and Zboží.cz the Czech Republic.
Several sites state that they are free for shoppers. BestPrice and Hintaopas say so on their About pages, Kelkoo calls itself free on its French home page, and Toppreise.ch describes free, non-binding information in its terms. billiger.de states a free account. The other sites show no consumer price in what we read.
Hintaopas shows a price history on each product, and BestPrice draws a price chart of the lowest recorded price. Toppreise.ch lists a product history among its features. billiger.de compares deals against the best price of the last 30 days. Geizhals, Beslist.nl and shopping24 showed no price history in the pages we read.
Google Shopping is a Google service, and Google is part of Alphabet in the United States. We could not read the terms or privacy pages that would name the contracting entity or the data location, so this page states neither. None of the twelve European sites states a data location in the pages we read either, so ask each operator directly.
Some do. The shopping24 cookie banner lists Google Inc., Microsoft Ireland Operations Limited, Criteo SA and RTB House GmbH, and collects tracking data only after you click Allow all. billiger.de mentions third-party analysis tools, and Kieskeurig.nl says data may be shared within its media group. Read each consent banner before you accept.
