European Price Comparison Sites

A price comparison site lists the same product from many online shops and sorts the offers by price, so shoppers can find the cheapest seller. A European operator matters because the site sees what you search for and which shop you click, and the company running it answers to a European data protection authority. The twelve sites below each name their operating company in an imprint, terms or privacy policy.

How we rank these tools — 4-step process
  1. 1
    European ownership, verified

The company is headquartered and incorporated in the EU, EEA, the UK, Switzerland or Israel, and processes customer data in Europe or Israel. A US parent company disqualifies a tool from this page regardless of where its servers are.

  2. 2
    Category fit and hands-on review

What the tool actually does, who it suits, and where it falls short — checked against the vendor’s own documentation, changelog and pricing page rather than its marketing copy.

  3. 3
    Compliance and pricing check

GDPR posture, hosting location and the prices quoted on this page are verified against the vendor’s public pricing before publication, and re-checked when we revisit the category.

  4. 4
    Position on this page

Placement on this page can be paid, and that can affect the order tools appear in. It never buys a listing: a tool that fails the checks above is not here at any price, and payment does not change the shortcomings we write about. A vendor can ask us to correct a factual error — not to remove a criticism.

Vendors can pay for visibility on this page. It never changes what an entry says about a product, including the criticism, and we earn nothing when you click through to a vendor. Vendors can pay for more visibility, higher up on the review pages; it never affects whether a tool is listed. Editorial policy

Key takeaways

  • Geizhals ranks first in this directory because its imprint names the operator, the court register entry and the full ownership chain down to the indirect beneficial owner, which no other site on the list matches.
  • Prisjakt and Hintaopas belong to the same group: Hintaopas is run in Finland by Prisjakt Finland Oy, while the Swedish company Prisjakt Sverige AB is named as the party responsible for personal data in its privacy policy.
  • Kieskeurig, Beslist and Vergelijk.be serve Dutch-speaking shoppers, and Vergelijk.be is the one that counts its own catalogue on the home page: 341 shops and 17,566,175 products when we read it.
  • BestPrice states on its About page that it compares more than 4,000 Greek shops, which is the highest specific shop count any site in this category states for a single country.
  • Not a single site in this category states where its data is stored, so the European element you can verify today is the company and its supervisory authority, not the server location.

European price comparison sites are shopping search portals that collect offers from online shops and rank them by price, run by a company with a registered seat in Europe. The European part matters because a comparison site sees what you search for, which product you hesitate over and which shop you click, and a site with a named seat, a register number and a local supervisory authority gives you someone specific to ask about that data.

#1 Geizhals

Vienna, Austria No consumer price shown on the pages we read Demo on request

Best for: Shoppers in Austria and Germany who want a comparison portal with a fully disclosed owner

  • Operating company. Preisvergleich Internet Services AG
  • Jurisdiction. EU (Austria)
  • Where the data sits. not stated on the pages we read
  • Source code. Closed source
  • Replaces. Google Shopping

Geizhals is run by Preisvergleich Internet Services AG at Rothschildplatz 3 in Vienna, registered at the Handelsgericht Wien under Firmenbuchnummer 197241k. The imprint names Mag. Markus Nigl as Vorstand. The site has country editions for Austria and Germany plus an EU edition, and it combines price and product comparison with filters, wish lists, deals, editorial buying guides and a user forum.

The imprint goes further than the others in this category on ownership. It lists Heise Gruppe GmbH & Co. KG in Hannover as the topmost legal entity and Ansgar Heise as indirect beneficial owner with 61 percent. The limits are on the shopper side: the terms we read (AGB) are written for shops, we found no consumer price, no alert description and no data location, and only two of the country sites could be confirmed.

What Geizhals does well

  • Imprint with register number, VAT ID and board
  • Ownership disclosed up to the beneficial owner
  • Wish lists and a country switch
  • Operating since 1997 according to the imprint
  • Editorial guides and a forum next to the prices

Where Geizhals falls short

  • No consumer price statement on the pages we read
  • No price alert wording found
  • Data location not stated
  • Privacy text refers to Austrian law only in general terms

Standout feature. Geizhals is the only site in this category whose imprint traces ownership from the operator up to a named beneficial owner.

#2 Prisjakt (PriceSpy)

Ängelholm, Sweden No consumer price shown on the pages we read Demo on request

Best for: Shoppers in Sweden and the UK who want deals, price tracking and saved lists in one place

  • Operating company. Prisjakt Sverige AB
  • Jurisdiction. EU (Sweden)
  • Where the data sits. not stated on the pages we read
  • Source code. Closed source
  • Replaces. Google Shopping

Prisjakt is the Swedish comparison service of Prisjakt Sverige AB, registration number 556665-1799, based at Kamengatan 6 in Ängelholm. Its Swedish site shows a daily deals section, category pages and shop campaigns, and the UK edition under the name PriceSpy is priced in pounds. Price drop tracking, saved lists, a shopping assistant and a mobile app round out what the pages describe.

The footer of the Swedish site says the company has been on the shopper's side since 2002, and the PriceSpy privacy policy names the same company as data controller with a Data Protection Officer contact. The gaps are coverage and disclosure: only the Swedish and UK sites were read in full, there is no Spanish or Italian edition in what we saw, and the pages state neither a consumer price nor a data location.

What Prisjakt (PriceSpy) does well

  • Named Swedish company with registration number and address
  • Daily deals section showing the discount
  • Price drop tracking and saved lists
  • Separate UK site in pounds
  • The group also runs a Finnish site

Where Prisjakt (PriceSpy) falls short

  • No consumer pricing statement on the pages we read
  • Data location not stated
  • Coverage limited to its own country sites
  • Only the Swedish and UK sites were read in full

Standout feature. Prisjakt is the only site here that serves two separate national markets, Sweden and the United Kingdom, under one named controller.

#3 BestPrice

Moires, Heraklion, Crete, Greece Free for consumers, according to the About page Demo on request

Best for: Shoppers in Greece who want price history and alerts from a Greek-run service

  • Operating company. The Best Company S.A. (Phaistos Networks)
  • Jurisdiction. EU (Greece)
  • Where the data sits. not stated on the pages we read
  • Source code. Closed source
  • Replaces. Google Shopping

BestPrice.gr states on its About page that it compares prices from more than 4,000 Greek online shops and about 12 million offers. The service began in 2001 as Pathfinder Shopping and took the BestPrice name in 2011. Product pages carry a price chart with history, and the site adds price drop alerts, wish lists, store ratings, buyer reviews and a purchase insurance programme.

The company side is slightly confusing. The privacy policy, updated 16 September 2024, names a Greek societe anonyme trading as Phaistos Networks at 25is Martiou 76 in Moires, Heraklion, Crete, while the footer and About page name The Best Company S.A. We did not find a page that explains the relation between the two. The site covers Greek shops only and prohibits automated price monitoring.

What BestPrice does well

  • Price chart showing history
  • Price drop alerts and wish lists
  • Free comparison stated on the About page
  • Greek seat and tax number in the privacy policy
  • Says plainly that it is not a shop

Where BestPrice falls short

  • Greece only
  • Two company names without an explanation
  • Data location not stated
  • Automated price monitoring is prohibited

Standout feature. BestPrice states the highest specific shop count in this category, more than 4,000 Greek shops according to its own About page.

#4 Hintaopas

not stated (Finland), Finland Free for consumers, according to the site's own description; shops are charged for referred visitors Demo on request

Best for: Shoppers in Finland who want price history and alerts without paying

  • Operating company. Prisjakt Finland Oy
  • Jurisdiction. EU (Finland)
  • Where the data sits. not stated on the pages we read
  • Source code. Closed source
  • Replaces. Google Shopping

Hintaopas is the Finnish member of the Prisjakt Group, and its terms say services in Finland are provided mainly by Prisjakt Finland Oy, business ID 2697246-5. Each product page carries a price history, and the site sends price drop alerts and restock notices, shows shipping cost and stock, collects user reviews and has a barcode scanner in its app. The minimum age to register is 15.

On cost, the site describes itself as free for consumers and charges shops for the visitors it refers to them. The footer reads © 2000-2026 Prisjakt Finland Oy, yet the privacy policy places responsibility for personal data with the Swedish parent, Prisjakt Sverige AB. We saw no street address for the Finnish company, no data location and no shop count, and coverage stops at Finnish shops.

What Hintaopas does well

  • Price history on every product
  • Price drop alerts and restock notices
  • Free membership stated
  • Business ID and parent company named
  • Barcode scanner in the app

Where Hintaopas falls short

  • Finnish shops only
  • No street address for the Finnish entity in what we read
  • Data location not stated
  • Personal data handled by the Swedish parent rather than the Finnish company

Standout feature. Hintaopas is the only site here that combines price history, price drop alerts and restock notices with a barcode scanner for in-store checks.

#5 billiger.de

Karlsruhe, Germany Free account registration stated; no other consumer price shown Demo on request

Best for: German shoppers who want deals checked against a 30-day best price

  • Operating company. solute GmbH
  • Jurisdiction. EU (Germany)
  • Where the data sits. not stated on the pages we read
  • Source code. Closed source
  • Replaces. Google Shopping

billiger.de is a brand of solute GmbH, Zeppelinstraße 15 in Karlsruhe, registered at Amtsgericht Mannheim under HRB 748044. The imprint names Dr. Thilo Gans and Bernd Vermaaten as managing directors and says outright that the portal is not an online shop. It shows shipping cost beside each price, keeps a notepad and price alerts for users with a free account, and writes reviews of shops and products.

Its deals section measures an advertised discount against the best price of the previous 30 days, which is a stricter yardstick than a manufacturer's list price. A DSA contact point is named. On the downside, the pages mention only the German market, the data location is missing, the privacy text refers in general terms to analysis and third-party tools, and the tariff comparison section is run by another company.

What billiger.de does well

  • Full imprint with HRB number and managing directors
  • Shipping cost shown beside the price
  • Deals measured against the best price of the last 30 days
  • Notepad and price alerts with a free account
  • DSA contact point named

Where billiger.de falls short

  • German market only in what we read
  • Data location not stated
  • Privacy text mentions third-party analysis tools
  • Tariff section run by a different company

Standout feature. billiger.de tests each advertised deal against the best price of the previous 30 days instead of an advertised reference price.

#6 Toppreise.ch

Bellenberg, Germany Free, non-binding information for consumers, according to the terms Demo on request

Best for: Shoppers in Switzerland and Liechtenstein who want local shop prices

  • Operating company. Toppreise Preisvergleich GmbH & Co. KG
  • Jurisdiction. EU (Germany)
  • Where the data sits. not stated on the pages we read
  • Source code. Closed source
  • Replaces. Google Shopping

Toppreise.ch names Toppreise Preisvergleich GmbH & Co. KG, Siebenbrunnen 1 in Bellenberg, as the responsible party, with Jörg Schlimm and Uwe Hörmann as representatives. The terms describe an information service for price comparisons of online shops, aimed mainly at consumers in Switzerland and Liechtenstein, and say German law applies. You can sort by product price or shipping price, keep wish lists, compare products, and read the site in German, French or English.

The limits are stated by the operator itself. Only connected Swiss and Liechtenstein shops are listed, prices can be out of date between database updates, and no liability is taken for availability data. The privacy page text was not visible in what we read, and login offers Facebook, Google and Apple accounts. The only Swiss-market site in this category is therefore run from Germany.

What Toppreise.ch does well

  • Named operator with a German address and VAT ID
  • Free, non-binding use stated in the terms
  • Sorting by product price and shipping price
  • Wish lists and product comparison
  • Three interface languages

Where Toppreise.ch falls short

  • Only connected shops are listed
  • Prices may be outdated between updates
  • Privacy policy text not readable in our fetch
  • Operator seat is in Germany, not Switzerland

Standout feature. Toppreise.ch is the only site here built around Swiss and Liechtenstein shops, with the interface in three languages.

#7 Kelkoo

Paris, France Free, according to the French home page ("Indépendant & gratuit depuis 1999") Demo on request

Best for: Shoppers in France who want a long-running comparison site with a named French company

  • Operating company. Kelkoo SAS
  • Jurisdiction. EU (France)
  • Where the data sits. not stated on the pages we read
  • Source code. Closed source
  • Replaces. Google Shopping

Kelkoo's French site names Kelkoo SAS in the footer, 64-66 Rue des Archives in Paris, and the group privacy policy gives RCS Paris number 425 093 069 and names the CNIL as lead supervisory authority. The home page calls the service independent and free since 1999. It offers price drop tracking and alerts, a deals section, merchant ratings and prices shown with shipping included, on a French catalogue of 45 million products and 500 shops.

The group page adds that Kelkoo was founded in France in 1999, works across 29 markets and is headquartered in London, which sits outside the EU. It also presents Kelkoo as a marketing platform for advertisers, a different audience from shoppers. Who owns the group above Kelkoo SAS is not stated in what we read, and only the French consumer site was checked.

What Kelkoo does well

  • Company number and Paris address in the footer
  • French supervisory authority named
  • Price drop tracking and alerts
  • Prices shown including all costs
  • Free service stated on the home page

Where Kelkoo falls short

  • Group HQ is in London
  • Ownership above Kelkoo SAS not stated
  • Group pages target advertisers
  • Only the French consumer site was read

Standout feature. Kelkoo is the only site here with a French operator that also names its supervisory authority, the CNIL, as lead authority for the group.

#8 Vergelijk.be

Zwolle, Netherlands No consumer price shown on the pages we read Demo on request

Best for: Dutch-speaking shoppers in Belgium who want a comparison site with listed company details

  • Operating company. Compare International B.V.
  • Jurisdiction. EU (Netherlands)
  • Where the data sits. not stated on the pages we read
  • Source code. Closed source
  • Replaces. Google Shopping

Vergelijk.be gives Compare International B.V., Assendorperdijk 1 in Zwolle, with chamber of commerce number 30211738, on its contact page. The privacy policy names the same company as controller and says the site belongs to Compare Group B.V. On the day we read the home page it counted 341 shops, 17,566,175 products and 10,122,754 reviews, and it shows reviews next to prices.

The footer links sister sites for the Netherlands, France, Germany, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Austria, Spain, Italy and Portugal, which is the widest network in this category. The weak points are in the detail: we found no price alert or price history wording, several company names appear (Compare International B.V., Compare Group B.V., Vergelijk.nl B.V.), the terms we read are for advertisers, and ownership above the group is not stated.

What Vergelijk.be does well

  • Operator, address and chamber of commerce number on the contact page
  • Sister sites in many European countries
  • Reviews shown alongside prices
  • Belgian authority named for privacy complaints
  • Visiting without registration is possible

Where Vergelijk.be falls short

  • No price alert or price history wording found
  • Several company names in the group
  • Terms read are for advertisers
  • Data location not stated

Standout feature. Vergelijk.be links to sister sites in eleven other countries, the widest cross-border network of any site in this category.

#9 Beslist.nl

Arnhem, Netherlands No consumer price shown on the pages we read Demo on request

Best for: Dutch shoppers who want one cart across several webshops

  • Operating company. Beslist.nl B.V.
  • Jurisdiction. EU (Netherlands)
  • Where the data sits. not stated on the pages we read
  • Source code. Closed source
  • Replaces. Google Shopping

Beslist.nl is operated by Beslist.nl B.V., Meander 825 in Arnhem, according to its contact page. The home page claims 100 million products and thousands of webshops with current prices, and the contact page stresses that the site is an overview, not a shop, and sells nothing itself. A help page covers disputes with shops, and webshop reviews sit next to the offers.

What sets Beslist apart is its own checkout, the beslist.nl Winkelwagen, where you can optionally gather items from several webshops in one cart. The reading was incomplete: we did not read the privacy statement or terms in full, so there is no company number or owner in our notes, and no price alert or price history wording appeared. The site is available in Dutch only.

What Beslist.nl does well

  • Named Dutch B.V. with an address
  • States it sells nothing itself
  • Help page for conflicts with shops
  • Webshop reviews
  • Optional shared cart

Where Beslist.nl falls short

  • Privacy statement not read
  • No company number found
  • No price alert wording found
  • Dutch market only

Standout feature. Beslist.nl is the only site here with an optional shared cart that spans several webshops.

#10 Kieskeurig.nl

Haarlem, Netherlands No consumer price shown on the pages we read Demo on request

Best for: Dutch shoppers who want prices next to product reviews

  • Operating company. Reshift Digital B.V.
  • Jurisdiction. EU (Netherlands)
  • Where the data sits. not stated on the pages we read
  • Source code. Closed source
  • Replaces. Google Shopping

Kieskeurig.nl belongs to Reshift Digital B.V., Nijverheidsweg 18 in Haarlem, a media company whose brands include Computer!Totaal, MacWorld and Gamer.nl. The home page title promises prices, reviews and the best deals, and the menu has a Prijsdalers section for price drops. Alongside the price comparison are a best-reviewed list, shop and brand overviews and safety tips with alerts.

Sister sites exist for Belgium (Kieskeurig.be), France (Comparigo.fr) and Germany (Comparigo.de). A quote form from a third party is explained as separate from the comparison. The privacy text covers the whole media company rather than only the comparison service, data may be shared within the group, and we found no company number, no data location and no consumer price.

What Kieskeurig.nl does well

  • Named Dutch B.V. with an address
  • Reviews and a best-reviewed list
  • Price drops section
  • Sister sites for Belgium, France and Germany
  • Third-party quote form explained as separate

Where Kieskeurig.nl falls short

  • No company number found
  • Privacy text covers the whole media company
  • Data may be shared within the group
  • Data location not stated

Standout feature. Kieskeurig.nl is the only site here run by a media company whose titles include Computer!Totaal and MacWorld, which sets it apart from the pure portals.

#11 Zboží.cz

Prague, Czech Republic No consumer price shown on the pages we read Demo on request

Best for: Shoppers in the Czech Republic who already use the Seznam portal

  • Operating company. Seznam.cz, a.s.
  • Jurisdiction. EU (Czech Republic)
  • Where the data sits. not stated on the pages we read
  • Source code. Closed source
  • Replaces. Google Shopping

Zboží.cz is a service of Seznam.cz, a.s., whose footer reads © 1996 – 2026. The Seznam privacy policy gives its seat as Radlická 3294/10 in Prague 5, company number 26168685, registered at the Municipal Court in Prague, section B, entry 6493. The page title promises thousands of shops in one place, and the site has a wide category tree, discount and price drop labels, and an area where shops register and administer their listings.

The company sits in a larger portfolio next to mail, maps and news, and it names Chronos Consulting, s.r.o. as data protection officer. We found no description of price alerts or price history, no statement on whether shoppers pay, and nothing about who owns Seznam.cz above the company. The interface is Czech only.

What Zboží.cz does well

  • Czech company with a register entry
  • Named data protection officer
  • Price drop labels on products
  • Wide category tree
  • Shops can register and administer their own listings

Where Zboží.cz falls short

  • No alert or history wording found
  • Czech only
  • Ownership above the company not stated
  • Data location not stated

Standout feature. Zboží.cz is the only site here that sits inside a national web portal, with mail, maps and news from the same Czech company.

#12 shopping24

Hamburg, Germany No consumer price shown on the pages we read Demo on request

Best for: German shoppers who browse by category and compare partner shop offers

  • Operating company. shopping24 Gesellschaft für multimediale Anwendungen mbH
  • Jurisdiction. EU (Germany)
  • Where the data sits. not stated on the pages we read
  • Source code. Closed source
  • Replaces. Google Shopping

shopping24 is run by shopping24 Gesellschaft für multimediale Anwendungen mbH, An der Alster 45 in Hamburg, registered at Amtsgericht Hamburg under HRB 63371. The imprint names David Reed as CEO and Nils Grabbert as a representative, and states that shopping24.de is not an online shop and sells none of the listed products. The site works through a category tree, a top products list and links to partner shops.

Price correctness rests with the shops, and the operator accepts no liability for partner price data. The pages we read show no price alert, price history or app. The cookie banner offers a choice to refuse all, but its advertising partners include Google Inc., Microsoft Ireland Operations Limited, Criteo SA and RTB House GmbH. That makes shopping24 the weakest fit if your reason for leaving Google Shopping is data exposure.

What shopping24 does well

  • Hamburg entity with HRB number and representatives
  • States clearly that it is not a shop
  • Category tree across many product areas
  • Consent banner with an option to refuse all
  • Top products list

Where shopping24 falls short

  • No price alerts or price history in what we read
  • Advertising partners include Google Inc.
  • No liability for partner price data
  • Data location not stated

Standout feature. shopping24 is the only site here whose cookie banner names four advertising partners, with a one-click option to refuse all of them.

Why use a European price comparison site instead of Google Shopping?

The most practical reason is accountability. Every site on this list publishes an imprint or a privacy policy with a company name, a street address and in most cases a register number. billiger.de gives a Mannheim court register entry, Kelkoo gives a Paris register number, and Seznam.cz, the company behind Zboží.cz, names a data protection officer.

With a search surface run from the United States, the equivalent pages did not load in our fetch, so we could not read who answers for what.

The second reason is the business model, which is visible on several of these sites. Hintaopas says it is free for shoppers and that shops pay for the visitors they receive. Beslist and shopping24 both state that they are not shops and sell nothing themselves. A site that tells you how it earns money makes it easier to judge why a ranking looks the way it does.

None of this makes a European site better at everything. Google Shopping covers many countries from one search box, and every portal here covers one country, two, or a handful of sister sites. The honest case for the European option is transparency about the operator, not a broader catalogue.

Which comparison site fits which country?

Coverage is the first filter, because none of these sites is pan-European in the sense of a single catalogue. Geizhals reads as an Austrian and German site, with a country switch and an EU edition. billiger.de and shopping24 target Germany. Toppreise.ch targets Switzerland and Liechtenstein, even though its operator is located in Bellenberg, Germany.

In the north, Prisjakt covers Sweden and, as PriceSpy, the United Kingdom, and Hintaopas covers Finland. In the Netherlands you can choose between Beslist.nl, Kieskeurig.nl and Vergelijk.be, the last of which is aimed at Dutch speakers in Belgium. Kelkoo is the French option, BestPrice the Greek one and Zboží.cz the Czech one.

If you shop across borders, the sister sites matter. Vergelijk.be links to sister sites in a dozen countries, and Kieskeurig points to Kieskeurig.be, Comparigo.fr and Comparigo.de. Start from the country of the shop you expect to buy from, not the country you live in.

Do these sites offer price alerts and price history?

Only some of them, and the pages we read are specific about it. Hintaopas lists price history, price drop alerts and restock notices, plus a barcode scanner in its app. BestPrice shows a price chart with history and sends price drop alerts. Prisjakt tracks price drops and keeps saved lists, and Kelkoo describes price drop tracking with alerts.

billiger.de offers a notepad and price alerts for users with a free account, and it checks deals against the best price of the previous 30 days. Toppreise.ch has wish lists and a history feature. For Geizhals we found wish lists and deals but no description of an alert.

On Beslist, Vergelijk.be, Zboží.cz and shopping24, no alert or history wording appeared in the text we read. That is not proof the feature is absent, only that we could not confirm it, so check the site before you rely on it for a purchase you plan to time.

Is a price comparison site free, and how does it earn money?

For shoppers the sites we read are free or silent on price. BestPrice calls itself free in the About page, Kelkoo uses the line "Indépendant & gratuit depuis 1999" on its French home page, and the Toppreise.ch terms describe free, non-binding information. billiger.de states that registering an account costs nothing.

The shops pay, usually per referred visit, and that is the part to keep in mind when reading rankings. Hintaopas says it charges shops for referred visitors. The Kelkoo group pages we read speak to advertisers and publishers rather than to shoppers, and the terms we read for Vergelijk.be are aimed at advertisers. A listing can therefore depend on a shop being connected, as Toppreise.ch states when it says it lists only connected shops.

Our advice is to compare the top offer on two sites before you buy. If both show the same shop and the same total including shipping, the ranking is probably not bending on a commercial arrangement you cannot see.

What do you give up when you leave Google Shopping?

You give up one search box that works across countries, and the habit of finding Google-run listings next to ordinary web results. A European site starts from its own market. A shopper in Spain or Italy finds no Prisjakt site in what we read, and a shopper outside Greece gets little from BestPrice.

You also give up uniformity. Each site has its own filters, its own idea of what shipping cost to show and its own method for flagging a discount. billiger.de shows shipping next to the price, Kelkoo shows prices including all costs, and Toppreise.ch lets you toggle between product price and shipping price.

What you gain is a counterpart. If a listed price is wrong, the Beslist help page for conflicts with shops, the DSA contact point named by billiger.de and the French supervisory authority named by Kelkoo give you a place to go. If you only compare once or twice a year, the loss is small and the gain is real.

Where is the data stored, and does it matter for a comparison site?

Every site in this category left the storage location out of the pages we read, so the question has no verified answer for any of them. What we can confirm is the legal operator and, for several, the authority that handles complaints: Kelkoo names the French CNIL, Vergelijk.be names a Belgian authority, and Zboží.cz names its data protection officer.

For a comparison site the exposure is smaller than for payroll or CRM software, because you are not uploading company records. The sensitive part is the browsing profile that builds up from your searches and the accounts that hold wish lists. Hintaopas sends that responsibility to the Swedish parent, Prisjakt Sverige AB, and shopping24 lists advertising partners including Google Inc., Microsoft Ireland, Criteo and RTB House in its cookie banner.

The practical step is to use the consent banner. billiger.de and shopping24 both show one, and shopping24 offers an option to refuse everything. Browse without an account when you only want a price, and register only when you need an alert.

How we selected and ranked these 12 tools

Every tool on this page is in the European Purpose directory, which means the operating company is established in Europe and we have verified that from the company register or the vendor's own legal notice rather than from a marketing page. Tools headquartered outside Europe are not eligible, however good they are.

  1. Feature verification (weight: 40%). We check each capability against the vendor's own documentation and product pages, and record what the tool does rather than what the category is assumed to include.
  2. Ease of adoption (weight: 30%). Integrations, published API access, trial availability and how much configuration stands between signing and a usable result.
  3. Value and transparency (weight: 30%). Published pricing counts in a vendor's favour; quote-only pricing is recorded as quote-only rather than estimated. We weigh what a buyer gets for the entry price, not the headline feature count.
  4. Editorial review. Every page is researched and drafted with AI assistance, and the compliance and pricing claims are checked against the vendor's documentation before it is published under the founder's editorial responsibility. The three weights above decide the order; a position is a ranking against the other European tools in this category, not an absolute score.

Vendor-reported outcomes — ROI figures, margin uplift, time saved — are labelled as vendor claims wherever they appear on this page. We have not audited them, and neither has anyone else who quotes them. Read our full editorial process for how pages are re-verified.

Frequently asked questions

It depends on the country and on the feature you value. Geizhals ranks first here for the transparency of its imprint, Prisjakt for deals and price tracking in Sweden and the UK, and BestPrice for Greek shoppers who want price history. billiger.de suits Germany, Kelkoo France, and Beslist, Kieskeurig and Vergelijk.be the Dutch-speaking market.

The sites that mention price at all describe the service as free for shoppers. BestPrice, Hintaopas, Kelkoo and Toppreise.ch say so on their own pages, and billiger.de states that a free account is available. The other sites show no consumer price on the pages we read.

Hintaopas, BestPrice, Prisjakt, Kelkoo and billiger.de all describe price drop tracking or alerts. Hintaopas adds restock notices and a barcode scanner in its app, and billiger.de checks its deals against the best price of the last 30 days.

No. billiger.de, Beslist and shopping24 state that they are not shops, and BestPrice states the same. You complete the purchase at the retailer, and questions about an order go to that retailer, not to the comparison site.

Toppreise.ch, whose terms say it is aimed mainly at consumers in Switzerland and Liechtenstein. Its operator, Toppreise Preisvergleich GmbH & Co. KG, is located in Bellenberg, Germany, and German law applies to its use. It lists only connected shops, so some retailers will be missing.

No. All twelve are commercial portals run by companies, and none of the pages we read describes published source code. The way to inspect them is through the imprint and privacy text, which most of them provide in full.
