European Alternatives to Printful
Looking for a European alternative to Printful? Printful's terms of service name Printful, Inc., a Delaware corporation, as the contracting party, and a section on arbitration applies to disputes. Its pricing page lists a Free plan at $0 a month with 599 custom products, Printful Growth at $24.99 a month (free once yearly sales reach $12K) and custom Enterprise pricing.
The European print-on-demand platforms below contract through companies in Norway, the UK, Germany, France, the Netherlands and Latvia, publish prices in euros or pounds, and cover apparel, wall art, books and hosted shops.
How we rank these tools — 4-step process
-
1
European ownership, verified
The company is headquartered and incorporated in the EU, EEA, the UK, Switzerland or Israel, and processes customer data in Europe or Israel. A US parent company disqualifies a tool from this page regardless of where its servers are.
-
2
Category fit and hands-on review
What the tool actually does, who it suits, and where it falls short — checked against the vendor’s own documentation, changelog and pricing page rather than its marketing copy.
-
3
Compliance and pricing check
GDPR posture, hosting location and the prices quoted on this page are verified against the vendor’s public pricing before publication, and re-checked when we revisit the category.
-
4
Position on this page
Placement on this page can be paid, and that can affect which tools appear here and the order they appear in. It never buys a good review: a tool that fails the checks above is not here at any price, and payment does not change the shortcomings we write about. A vendor can ask us to correct a factual error — not to remove a criticism.
Vendors can pay for visibility on this page. It never changes what an entry says about a product, including the criticism, and we earn nothing when you click through to a vendor. Vendors can pay for more visibility, higher up on the review pages; it never affects which tools are listed. Editorial policy

- Gelato (Norway), Prodigi (UK) and TPOP (France) offer a free entry tier, and Printseekers (Latvia) lists no subscription at all.

Why people leave Printful
Printful runs print-on-demand fulfilment for online sellers: you connect a store, upload a design, and Printful prints, packs and ships each order after a customer pays. On its pricing page the company says every order gets in-house production, a three-step quality check and fulfilment by its own staff. Its terms of service name Printful, Inc., a Delaware corporation, as the party you contract with.
That is a good reason to look at the product in detail, and a poor reason to leave on principle. Printful's free plan lists 599 custom products, its Growth plan costs $24.99 a month and becomes free once yearly sales reach $12K, and a free reprint or refund applies when the manufacturing was at fault. Most European suppliers cannot match that combination of catalogue and quality promise.
Sellers still look elsewhere, and the reasons are practical. A European business may want a supplier that bills in euros or pounds and contracts under European law. Some want production in the same region as their customers, others want one specialist for posters or books, and a few want a shop they do not have to build. The terms also contain an individual-arbitration clause, which some EU sellers prefer not to accept.
- The contract is with a Delaware corporation Printful's terms of service describe the agreement as one between you and Printful, Inc., a Delaware corporation, and they route disputes into arbitration on an individual basis instead of a jury trial or class action. A seller in Germany or the Netherlands who would rather hold a supplier to a local court, in a local language, has to accept that arrangement or choose a supplier that contracts under European law.
- Prices are in dollars and Growth is a paid layer Printful lists its plans in dollars: Free at $0 a month and Growth at $24.99 a month, with an Enterprise tier on request. Growth gives up to 33% off product prices, 9% off branding and 25% off samples. Yearly sales for the free-Growth threshold are counted after discounts, shipping and tax are subtracted, so a seller selling in euros has to convert before judging how close the $12K line is.
- One catalogue, one idea of what print on demand is Printful is built around its own catalogue of blanks, printed and embroidered in its own facilities. Sellers who want wall art on fine paper, bound books, fabric by the metre or a hosted storefront need a specialist, and Printful's base price covers one print placement only, so extra placements add cost. European suppliers split into narrower niches, which is an advantage if your product sits inside one of them.
- Support load on the day we looked Printful's contact page, when we read it, told customers the company was experiencing a high volume of inquiries and that live chat was currently unavailable. That is a snapshot, not a pattern, and Printful lists 24/7 customer support on its Free plan. It is still a fair question to put to any fulfilment partner: who answers when an order goes wrong, and in which language and time zone.
What you have to replace, not just match
A print-on-demand supplier is more than a printer. You replace the connection to your shop, the product catalogue your listings are built on, the mockups and the sizing details your customers see. Printful's base price covers the blank, one print or embroidery placement and fulfilment, so check how each European supplier counts placements before comparing prices.
Switching also changes who owns the customer experience. Printful offers branded packaging and a Design Maker with a mockup generator. A Gelato or Spod order arrives with different blanks and different packaging, so order a sample of each product you intend to keep before moving a listing.
Finally, decide what you do not need to replace. Printful's 599-product catalogue is wide, and most stores sell ten to thirty of those items. List the ones you actually sell and check them against each tool on this page. A supplier with a narrower range can be the better fit if it covers every item on your list.
The alternatives compared
| Position | Tool | Headquarters | Pricing | Jurisdiction |

| #3 | Spod | Leipzig, Germany | Order price = base product price + print cost + shipping + tax; first print area free, extra area $5 / 5 EUR, Flex or Flock print $2.50 / 2.50 EUR once per order | EU (Germany) |
| #4 | Inkthreadable | Lancashire, United Kingdom | Free to get started, pay after a sale; Reward Pricing gives up to 10% off at GBP 500 monthly spend; prices in GBP including VAT | United Kingdom (adequacy decision, outside the EEA) |

How each alternative compares to Printful
Best for: Sellers who want local production near buyers in many countries through a store connector
Gelato ASA of Oslo runs the model that comes closest to Printful's: free sign-up, no commission, and a connector for Shopify, Etsy, Amazon, TikTok Shop, WooCommerce, Wix, Squarespace and BigCommerce. Where Printful prints in its own facilities, Gelato routes each order to a partner chosen for proximity to the buyer. Its home page states 250+ print providers in 32 countries.
The trade is control against distance. Printful states a three-step quality check in its own plants. Gelato's quality depends on which partner receives the order. A multi-currency wallet that holds euros and pounds removes dollar conversion, but the Gelato+ price is not shown on the pages we read, so the discount tier cannot be weighed against Printful Growth at $24.99.
What Gelato does better than Printful
- Contracts with a named Norwegian entity, Gelato ASA, instead of a Delaware corporation
- Orders are routed to a partner near the buyer, which can shorten transit within Europe
- Wallet accepts payment in euros and pounds, where Printful lists its plans in dollars
- Store connector list that reaches TikTok Shop and Amazon
Where Gelato is a step down from Printful
- No single in-house factory, so quality varies by partner
- Gelato+ price is not published on the pages we read
- A US affiliate, Gelato USA LLC, is named for copyright notices
Standout against Printful. Gelato is the only supplier here that sends every order to the print partner nearest the customer as its core model.
Best for: Artists and photographers selling prints, framed pieces and books to many countries
Prodigi (UK) Ltd, registered in England under company number 08969713, runs print sites in the UK, the EU and the USA and works with more than 50 partner suppliers. It calls itself a Fine Art Trade Guild approved printer. Against Printful, which is built around apparel and broad merchandise, Prodigi's first-listed categories are wall art, prints, posters and books.
The money works differently from Printful's. Prodigi's Core account is free, and Pro costs £35 a month billed annually or £40 monthly for 15% off products and 10% off apparel. Printful lists 599 products on its free plan against Prodigi's 200+, so a seller of mixed merchandise will find fewer apparel options. Packaging is white-label on both.
What Prodigi does better than Printful
- Fine art focus, with framed prints and books near the top of the catalogue
- Own print sites on three continents, plus 50+ partner suppliers
- Print API, CSV importer and manual order form alongside the store connectors
- UK company number and address published in the terms
Where Prodigi is a step down from Printful
- 200+ products against Printful's 599 on the free plan
- Narrower apparel range
- Pro costs £35 to £40 a month, more than Printful Growth at $24.99
Standout against Printful. Prodigi is the only supplier here that pairs a fine art printer's accreditation with a free account and a print API.
Best for: Apparel sellers who run their own store and want a German fulfilment contract
Spod is the connector side of the Spreadshirt group. The contract partner for Spreadconnect and Spod is Spreadshirt Print On Demand GmbH, entered at Amtsgericht Leipzig under HRB 35418. A seller keeps an existing store, links it, and Spod prints and ships each order. Integrations named on the site are Shopify, TikTok, WooCommerce, OrderDesk, Magento, Squarespace and Shopware, plus an API.
Spod's help centre gives one pricing formula: base product price plus print cost plus shipping plus tax. The first print area is free, and each extra area costs €5. Printful's base price also covers one placement, so the comparison is straightforward. Spod states a production and dispatch time within 48 hours for 95% of orders, and shipping depends only on order value.
What Spod does better than Printful
- Written pricing formula, with extras listed in euros and dollars
- A 48-hour production target for 95% of orders, according to Spod
- Shipping priced by order value, with no hidden fees according to the page
- German GmbH with a commercial register number in the imprint
Where Spod is a step down from Printful
- Apparel-centred catalogue, narrower than Printful's 599 products
- No Etsy connector in the list we read
- The spreadshop.com privacy policy names a US group company, Spreadshirt, Inc.
Standout against Printful. Spod is the only supplier here that publishes its price as a four-part formula with the first print area free.
Best for: Brands that want embroidery and branded blanks produced at one UK site
Hyper Merch Limited, trading as Inkthreadable, has operated from Lancashire since 2013 and states 2M+ orders fulfilled. One facility employs 40 print technicians and handles DTG, DTF, embroidery and dye sublimation. Labels such as Stanley/Stella, AWDis, Gildan and Bella+Canvas are listed, which helps sellers who choose blanks by brand or organic content.
Example prices on the home page, £10.77 for a Stanley/Stella Creator 2.0 T-shirt and £8.09 for a Gildan Heavy Cotton T-shirt, include UK VAT. Against Printful that means the figures are not directly comparable to a dollar list. Reward Pricing gives up to 10% off from £500 of monthly spend, which is a smaller discount than Printful Growth's 33% but costs no monthly fee.
What Inkthreadable does better than Printful
- Free to start, with payment due only after a sale
- Branded blanks named by label, useful for ethical-sourcing claims
- Embroidery and sublimation next to DTG at one site
- Store connectors plus API and CSV ordering
Where Inkthreadable is a step down from Printful
- One UK site, so distant regions depend on postage
- Prices in pounds including 20% UK VAT, with the site designed for UK customers
- Reward discount tops out at 10%
Standout against Printful. Inkthreadable is the only supplier here that lists blanks by garment brand and prints, embroiders and sublimates them at one UK site.
Best for: Developers and publishers who need print built into their own app through an API
Cloudprinter.com B.V. is registered in Barendrecht under number 63851636. Dutch law applies and disputes go to the Rotterdam courts. The home page claims 381 print locations in 104 countries and 50,000 print products. A RESTful Print API with unlimited calls, a PHP SDK and a Node.js SDK sits at the centre, with 50+ ready-made integrations around it.
Printful gives a new seller a free plan, a Design Maker and a mockup generator. Cloudprinter leads with photo books, business cards and brochures, and it does not publish prices in text we could read. The merchant terms mention an initial deposit set by Cloudprinter, which suggests prepaid billing. Choose it when print is a feature of your product, not your whole store.
What Cloudprinter does better than Printful
- Far larger stated network, with 381 print locations in 104 countries
- Print API with unlimited calls and two SDKs
- Dutch law and Rotterdam courts written into the merchant terms
- Product range that includes books, brochures and cards
Where Cloudprinter is a step down from Printful
- No prices readable in our fetch
- A deposit applies under the merchant terms
- Less guidance for first-time sellers than Printful's design tools
Standout against Printful. Cloudprinter is the only supplier here that presents itself as an API layer over a worldwide network of printers.
Best for: Sellers of posters and canvases who prefer one supplier that only does wall art
SIA Printseekers, registration number 40203303979, sits in Ādaži, Latvia, and its terms place all agreements under Latvian law. The about page says it focuses only on wall art, with 40+ product options, 1,000,000+ orders shipped and an average production time of 48 hours. Sellers connect Shopify, Etsy or WooCommerce, or place manual orders.
The pricing page lists no subscriptions, onboarding fees or platform charges, and no minimums. Printful's Growth plan costs $24.99 a month, so a seller who prints only a few posters a month pays less here. The cost is range: apparel is a side line, no euro price list appears in text, and the terms refer to third-party manufacturers.
What Printseekers does better than Printful
- No subscription, onboarding fee or platform charge
- Free samples for qualified sellers, with a sample pack of papers, canvases and frames
- Single-focus wall art range
- Latvian company and courts, within the EU
Where Printseekers is a step down from Printful
- Minor apparel range next to Printful's catalogue
- Production partners behind the brand are not named
- No euro price list in the text we read
Standout against Printful. Printseekers is the only supplier here whose whole business is wall art and whose pricing page lists no recurring charge.
Best for: Sellers of canvas, pillows, blankets and pet products with personalisation tools
merchOne is run by Picanova GmbH of Cologne, entered under HRB 58130, and the terms apply German law and Cologne courts to merchants. The catalogue spans wall decoration, home decor such as pillows, blankets and rugs, apparel and pet products. List prices on the site start at €7 for a canvas wall hanging, €10 for a framed poster and €12 for a Bella Canvas 3001 T-shirt.
The home page promotes local sites in the EU and the USA to avoid customs fees, which is the point of difference from an EU seller shipping from a single hub. Shopify, Customily, Teeinblue and Order Desk are named, and the first two add personalisation. Only commercial users may open an account, and the home page mixes euro and dollar prices.
What merchOne does better than Printful
- Home decor depth, including rugs, blankets and pet products
- Personalisation tools through Customily and Teeinblue
- Production sites on both sides of the Atlantic
- German GmbH, with registry number and managing directors named in the imprint
Where merchOne is a step down from Printful
- Business customers only
- No Etsy connector on the pages we read
- Mixed euro and dollar list prices
Standout against Printful. merchOne is the only supplier here whose catalogue starts from decor, such as rugs and blankets, instead of apparel.
Best for: Creators who want a ready-made shop and do not want to run a store platform
sprd.net AG of Leipzig, entered under HRB 22478, hosts a Spreadshop for each seller, prints and ships the orders, and pays the seller a margin. The sell page says the shop is always free and that sellers never pay for products. The partner terms define compensation as a Base Margin plus a possible Performance Bonus, minus discounts and statutory VAT.
That removes the store work Printful sellers still do themselves, but it hands over control. Spreadshirt is the seller of record, so checkout and brand control are lower than with your own Shopify shop. Customers get 30-day returns and more than fifteen European country shops, and the catalogue lists 200+ products. Sellers already on Shopify or Etsy belong with Spod instead.
What Spreadshirt does better than Printful
- No store to build or host
- Free shop, with no product purchase required
- Localised shops for more than fifteen European countries
- 30-day customer returns
Where Spreadshirt is a step down from Printful
- Lower control over checkout and branding
- Real earnings depend on each product's base price, which is not listed in text
- No connector list for external stores
Standout against Printful. Spreadshirt is the only supplier here where the seller opens no store at all and still receives a margin per sale.
Best for: French-speaking creators who want an eco-focused catalogue and a shop in one tool
SAS TPOP is registered with the RCS of Nîmes under number 902 108 646, and the legal notice names Scaleway SAS in Paris as web host. Of the tools on this page it is the only one that states a hosting provider in text. The Gratuit plan costs €0 a month with 0% commission, unlimited web hosting and SSL. Illimité costs €19.99 a month, with a custom domain and translations.
The home page says TPOP is paid only when a catalogue product is sold, so the seller keeps the gap between retail price and TPOP's cost. Printful connects to 20+ platforms and marketplaces, while TPOP lists no connectors and works as its own shop. The marketing pages are in French, and the terms treat users as professionals, so private persons are not the audience.
What TPOP does better than Printful
- States its web host, Scaleway SAS in Paris
- Free plan with 0% commission and a hosted shop included
- Prices stated including VAT, with VIES handling for EU business buyers
- Eco-responsible catalogue focus
Where TPOP is a step down from Printful
- No Shopify, Etsy or WooCommerce connectors in the pages we read
- French-language marketing pages
- Production sites are not described
Standout against Printful. TPOP is the only supplier here that names its hosting company, a French one, in its legal notice.
Best for: Publishers and platforms that add a print button for books, magazines and photo products
PEECHO B.V. of Amsterdam is registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce under number 34366667, and Dutch law governs the relationship. It belongs to Prodigi Group. The product menu lists books and photobooks, magazines, wall art and business stationery, offered as a print button for a website, a branded shop, a checkout without a storefront, or a print API.
Peecho formats files automatically into print-ready versions and offers white-label customer support. The seller terms define profit as the checkout price minus production, shipping, taxes and transaction fees, payable on request from the dashboard. Apparel is absent, so Peecho cannot replace Printful for a clothing brand. No prices appear on the pages we read, and the buyer terms carry a December 2022 date.
What Peecho does better than Printful
- Books, magazines and photobooks, which Printful does not centre on
- Print button and checkout that need no storefront
- Automatic formatting into print-ready files
- Profit defined in the seller terms as a plain subtraction
Where Peecho is a step down from Printful
- No apparel at all
- No prices shown on the pages we read
- Group membership includes a US company, Prodigi USA Inc.
Standout against Printful. Peecho is the only supplier here that lets a site owner sell printed books without a shop through an embedded print button.
Best for: Textile designers and artists who sell fabric by the metre and soft goods
Contrado Imaging Ltd is registered in England and Wales under company number 04666562, with a production address in Park Royal, London NW10 7SU. The menu is built around textiles: custom fabrics by property, printing method and fabric type, plus labels, swing tags and swatch packs. Garments, cushions, wallpaper, canvas prints and accessories follow.
Contrado runs an Artist Marketplace, promises no upfront costs or inventory risk, and offers discounts to wholesalers, students and bulk buyers. Delivery takes 2 to 5 days once shipped. Against Printful the gaps are obvious in the text we read: no store integration list, no price list and a default currency of USD. Dropshipping workflows are less documented than Printful's.
What Contrado does better than Printful
- Prints fabric by the metre, which few suppliers here do
- Artist Marketplace for designers without a store
- Wholesale and bulk discounts on offer
- Production address published in London
Where Contrado is a step down from Printful
- No store integrations listed
- No price list in text and no hosting statement
- Default currency is USD
Standout against Printful. Contrado is the only supplier here that sells custom printed fabric as a core product.
Best for: Brands and clubs that order merch in batches and hold the stock themselves
Shirtigo GmbH of Hürth, entered under HRB 76935 at the Cologne court, prints batch orders and lists silkscreen, DTG, DTF and raster printing. Prinovia is presented as its new large-edition brand. The home page claims 1 million+ products sold and 15+ years of experience. A vector service, sample printing and a print data check sit among the listed services.
This is not a drop-in swap for Printful. Printful prints one order at a time as customers buy, while Shirtigo prints a run that you stock and ship yourself. That suits tour merch, club kits and creator drops, and it brings inventory risk. A calculator shows the final price, but no minimum quantities or fixed prices appear in the text we read, and the site is German first.
What Shirtigo does better than Printful
- Silkscreen and raster methods that suit larger runs
- Online calculator showing the final price
- Sample printing and a print data check before the run
- German GmbH, with managing director and register number in the imprint
Where Shirtigo is a step down from Printful
- Batch printing means holding stock and shipping orders yourself
- No shop integrations listed
- Pages and terms are German first
Standout against Printful. Shirtigo is the only supplier here that prints in silkscreen for runs you stock yourself.
What actually breaks when you switch
The first break is the product mapping. A listing in your store points at a Printful product ID, and a new supplier uses different blanks, sizes and print areas. Rebuild each listing, check the size chart, and order a sample of every product you keep. Printful's Free plan gives 20% off sample orders and Growth gives 25%, so order samples before you cancel Growth.
The second is cost. Printful's base price covers one placement, Spod counts the first print area as free and charges €5 for each further one, and Inkthreadable shows prices with 20% UK VAT included. Recalculate your margin per product in your selling currency, and compare shipping separately because suppliers split it differently.
The third is operations. A supplier outside the EU or EEA, such as Inkthreadable or Contrado in the UK, has its own customs and VAT handling for EU buyers. Gelato's terms state amounts exclusive of VAT. Ask each supplier how it treats import duties and whose name goes on the parcel, before the first live order.
Can I move my Etsy or Shopify listings from Printful to a European supplier?
Yes for most stores, but expect to rebuild the product links by hand. Gelato lists Shopify, Etsy, Amazon, TikTok Shop, WooCommerce, Wix, Squarespace and BigCommerce. Inkthreadable covers Shopify, WooCommerce, Etsy, TikTok Shop, Big Cartel, Wix and Squarespace. Both let you keep your storefront and swap only the fulfilment side.
Sellers on Etsy should check the list before committing: Spod and merchOne do not name an Etsy connector on the pages we read, and TPOP works as its own shop rather than as a connector. Move one product first, order a sample, and keep the old Printful listing active until the new one has shipped a test order.
Will a European supplier ship faster to my customers?
It depends on where your customers live and which supplier you pick. Gelato says 90% of its orders are produced locally and Cloudprinter states 381 print locations in 104 countries. Spod states a production and dispatch time under 48 hours for 95% of orders. Those are vendor statements and not delivery guarantees to a specific address.
A single-site supplier behaves differently. Inkthreadable produces everything in one UK facility, so delivery to distant regions depends on postage. For a store with mostly European buyers that can be fine. For a store with American buyers it means longer transit than a supplier with a US site such as Prodigi or merchOne.
Which one to pick
Choose Gelato or Spod if you sell apparel and general merchandise through a Shopify, WooCommerce or Etsy store and want a European contract. Gelato covers more marketplaces; Spod publishes its pricing formula and a 48-hour production target. Order a sample from both before moving a bestseller.
Choose a specialist when your product sits in one niche: Prodigi or Printseekers for wall art, Peecho for books, Contrado for fabric, merchOne for home decor, Shirtigo for batch runs. Choose Spreadshirt or TPOP if you want a hosted shop and no store to maintain. Stay with Printful if its 599 products, in-house quality check and free Growth threshold fit your volume.
Frequently Asked Questions
It depends on the criterion. For a similar spread of apparel, wall art and home products through store connectors, Gelato from Norway and Spod from Germany are the closest matches. For fine art prints, Prodigi from the UK. For books and magazines, Peecho from the Netherlands. For an API-first set-up, Cloudprinter from the Netherlands. For a hosted shop, Spreadshirt or TPOP.
Yes. Gelato charges no commission and lets you sign up free, with Gelato+ as an optional paid subscription. Printseekers bills per order only, with no subscription or platform fee. Prodigi has a free Core account, TPOP has a Gratuit plan at €0 a month, and Spreadshirt describes its Spreadshop as always free. Inkthreadable is free to start and charges only after a sale.
The pages we read do not list Printful's facility locations, only that its pricing varies slightly by fulfilment location and that its footer links to a Guarantee of Conformity for the EU. The European suppliers on this page publish more: merchOne names production sites in the EU and the USA, and Prodigi names its own print sites in the UK, the EU and the USA.
Printseekers from Latvia focuses only on wall art, with 40+ product options and an average production time of 48 hours according to its about page. Prodigi calls itself a Fine Art Trade Guild approved printer. merchOne from Cologne lists canvas, framed canvas, acrylic, posters and metal prints, and states a canvas wall hanging from €7.
Yes, and Printful is not the right tool for it. Peecho from Amsterdam covers books, photobooks, magazines and wall art with a print button, a hosted shop and an API. Cloudprinter leads with photo books, business cards and brochures. Prodigi lists books among its products as well.
