European Alternatives to BlueVine

Looking for a European alternative to BlueVine? Bluevine Inc. states that its site terms are governed by California law with exclusive jurisdiction in California courts, and its Privacy Policy is dated 26 April 2026. Its site lists a Line of Credit up to $250K, a Term Loan up to $500K from lending partners with repayment up to 24 months, and SBA 7(a) loans up to $350K.

The European business lending platforms below contract with companies in the UK, Sweden, France and Germany, and cover term loans, credit lines, invoice finance and loan comparison in local currencies.

How we rank these tools — 4-step process
  1. 1
    European ownership, verified

The company is headquartered and incorporated in the EU, EEA, the UK, Switzerland or Israel, and processes customer data in Europe or Israel. A US parent company disqualifies a tool from this page regardless of where its servers are.

  2. 2
    Category fit and hands-on review

What the tool actually does, who it suits, and where it falls short — checked against the vendor’s own documentation, changelog and pricing page rather than its marketing copy.

  3. 3
    Compliance and pricing check

GDPR posture, hosting location and the prices quoted on this page are verified against the vendor’s public pricing before publication, and re-checked when we revisit the category.

  4. 4
    Position on this page

Placement on this page can be paid, and that can affect which tools appear here and the order they appear in. It never buys a good review: a tool that fails the checks above is not here at any price, and payment does not change the shortcomings we write about. A vendor can ask us to correct a factual error — not to remove a criticism.

Vendors can pay for visibility on this page. It never changes what an entry says about a product, including the criticism, and we earn nothing when you click through to a vendor. Vendors can pay for more visibility, higher up on the review pages; it never affects which tools are listed. Editorial policy

  • BlueVine lists a Line of Credit up to $250K and a Term Loan up to $500K from lending partners.
  • BlueVine lists SBA 7(a) loans up to $350K, a US government programme with no European counterpart.

Why people leave BlueVine

BlueVine is a US online lender and financial technology company that offers small businesses a line of credit, a term loan and SBA 7(a) loans. The company behind the site is Bluevine Inc. in California, and its site terms name Bluevine Capital Inc. as the provider of the services. The published ceilings are $250K on the Line of Credit, $500K on the Term Loan and $350K on SBA 7(a) loans.

A European owner usually starts looking beyond BlueVine for legal reasons rather than product reasons. The site terms are governed by California law, with disputes decided in California courts. The loan documents, the regulator and the currency all sit in the United States, which is awkward for a company that books revenue in euros, pounds or kronor and wants a lender it can call in its own time zone.

BlueVine also states that certain financing is made or arranged under a California Financing Law licence and through partner banks, and the Term Loan comes from lending partners. That structure works for US customers. A UK, Swedish, French or German company has to ask whether it is even eligible, and the pages we read describe a US product for US businesses. This page compares twelve European providers with that benchmark.

  • California law governs the relationship BlueVine states in its site terms that claims are interpreted under the laws of the State of California, with California courts as the forum. A European borrower who signs up inherits that frame. A dispute about fees or a default would be fought under US rules, in a US venue, instead of before a UK, Swedish, French or German regulator or ombudsman.
  • Dollar products priced for US companies The limits on the BlueVine site are dollar amounts: $250K on the line of credit, $500K on the term loan, $350K on SBA 7(a). SBA 7(a) is a US government programme, so it has no equivalent for a company without US operations. European providers quote GBP, SEK or euro amounts, which removes exchange risk between revenue and repayment.
  • Loans arranged through lending partners BlueVine says the Term Loan is made by lending partners and that certain financing is made or arranged under a California licence. The borrower deals with several entities, and the one that holds the loan may not be the one on the homepage. European lenders such as Qred or Defacto name their own regulated entity on the page.
  • No local-language or local-hours support from a European lender The BlueVine pages we read do not mention support for German, Swedish or French small businesses in their own language or business hours. European tools on this page publish country sites and local registers: Qred has Swedish pages, Defacto serves French invoices, and iwoca lists phone support on weekdays. Documentation in the borrower's language matters when a repayment schedule is in question.

What you have to replace, not just match

Replacing BlueVine means replacing three products, not one. The Line of Credit is a revolving facility. The Term Loan is a one-off amount with a fixed repayment of up to 24 months. The third product is SBA 7(a), which depends on a US government guarantee and has no European twin. The tools here map to the first two products, and some to invoice finance, which the pack also lists under BlueVine.

A European business also needs to decide what the lender is allowed to take. Credit lines in the UK, Sweden and France come with regulator references, and invoice finance from Kriya or Defacto is secured against receivables. A company that used the BlueVine line for short gaps between invoice and payment may be better served by Defacto or Kriya than by a general term loan from iwoca.

Comparison brokers add a different layer. Lendo in Sweden and Funding Options in the UK pass an application to many lenders, so the contract is with the lender they pick. A finance director who wants to replace the BlueVine relationship with a competitive process, rather than a single provider, gets that from these two and from nothing in the BlueVine catalogue.

How each alternative compares to BlueVine

#1

iwoca

London lender with a stated size range, closest to the BlueVine line and term loan

London, United KingdomRepresentative APR shown on the homepage; the pricing page states no hidden fees and no minimum terms; rates vary with loan size and duration#1 in Business Lending Platforms

Best for: UK limited companies and sole traders that want a flexible loan with published pricing principles.

iwoca Ltd is a company registered in England and Wales that lends to small businesses from GBP 1,000 up to GBP 1 million, against BlueVine's ceilings of $250K and $500K. The size range is stated on the page, which makes a first comparison easy. iwoca also offers a business credit card and iwocaPay next to the Flexi-Loan.

The iwoca pricing page says there are no hidden fees and no minimum terms, and the homepage shows a representative APR. BlueVine's term loan runs up to 24 months, and iwoca does not set a minimum term, so early repayment is easier to plan. The pages we read do not describe lending to companies outside the UK.

What iwoca does better than BlueVine

  • Local FCA-registered entity instead of a California company
  • Loan amounts in pounds, no dollar exchange risk
  • No minimum term, per the pricing page
  • Applying does not affect the credit score, per the homepage

Where iwoca is a step down from BlueVine

  • UK businesses only, as far as the pages show
  • No SBA-style programme
  • Hosting location is not stated

Standout against BlueVine. iwoca is the only tool here that states both a loan range and a no-minimum-term rule in one place.

Funding Circle

Established UK lender with a term loan, FlexiPay credit line and cashback card

London, United Kingdomnot shown on the pages we read; the site states decisions in as little as 5 minutes and a 7 minute application#2 in Business Lending Platforms

Best for: UK limited companies that want a term loan or on-demand credit line from a long-running lender.

Funding Circle Ltd, founded in 2010, is an FCA-authorised UK lender that sells term loans, the FlexiPay credit line and a cashback business credit card. Against BlueVine, which pairs a line of credit with a term loan, Funding Circle covers the same two shapes and adds asset finance through partners.

The site says decisions can take as little as 5 minutes and that the application takes about 7 minutes. Loan sizes, rates and fees are not in the text we read, so cost cannot be compared before applying. Applications in Germany are closed per its own page, and the FlexiPay account runs through Modulr.

What Funding Circle does better than BlueVine

  • Operating history since 2010, with a published company number
  • Credit card with cashback next to the loan
  • Borrower agreement and legal documents published
  • UK regulator in place of California licensing

Where Funding Circle is a step down from BlueVine

  • No loan sizes or rates in the text we read
  • German applications are closed
  • Banking features sit with Modulr

Standout against BlueVine. Funding Circle combines a term loan, a credit line and a cashback card at one UK lender.

Qred

Swedish bank with loans up to 60 months, longer than BlueVine's 24

Stockholm, Swedennot shown on the pages we read (a price list and a loan calculator are linked)#3 in Business Lending Platforms

Best for: Swedish limited companies, sole traders and start-ups that want a bank loan with no binding period.

Qred Bank AB in Stockholm is supervised by Finansinspektionen and offers loans with terms up to 60 months, according to its Swedish site. BlueVine states repayment up to 24 months on its Term Loan, so Qred allows a repayment period more than twice as long for an investment loan.

Qred also issues a business VISA card with 1% cashback and says there is no binding period, with direct payout. The pages we read show no rates, fees or loan limits, only links to a price list and a loan calculator. The site is in Swedish, and the ownership after the merger with Liberis is not described.

What Qred does better than BlueVine

  • Bank licence under Finansinspektionen, stated on the page
  • Terms up to 60 months against 24
  • No binding period
  • Company card with 1% cashback

Where Qred is a step down from BlueVine

  • Swedish-language pages
  • No rates or loan limits in the text we read
  • Eligibility rules per country not read

Standout against BlueVine. Qred is the only Swedish tool here that holds a bank licence and states terms of up to 60 months.

Kriya

London invoice finance and government-backed loans, owned by Allica Bank

London, United Kingdomnot shown on the pages we read#4 in Business Lending Platforms

Best for: UK businesses that sell on invoice terms, import or export goods, or want a government-guaranteed loan.

Kriya Finance Limited is a London company for invoice finance, business loans and export finance, and its homepage states that Allica Bank acquired it in 2025. Against BlueVine it fills the invoice side, which the BlueVine product list also carries, and adds Growth Guarantee Scheme loans up to GBP 2m.

The Growth Guarantee loans are the nearest UK analogue to the guarantee idea behind SBA 7(a), and they are priced in pounds. The pages we read show no rates, fees or advance percentages, and Kriya runs three customer logins (Invoice Finance, PayLater, TermLoans), which suggests separate portals instead of one account.

What Kriya does better than BlueVine

  • Invoice finance, loans and export finance at one provider
  • Government-backed loans up to GBP 2m in the UK
  • Owned by a UK bank, per its homepage
  • Company number and FCA anti-money-laundering reference published

Where Kriya is a step down from BlueVine

  • No rates or advance percentages in the text we read
  • Three separate portals
  • No card or current account listed

Standout against BlueVine. Kriya is the only tool here that combines invoice finance, export finance and Growth Guarantee loans.

Defacto

Paris financing company for invoices and stock, with an API for platforms

Paris, Francenot shown on the pages we read; the site offers an eligibility test#5 in Business Lending Platforms

Best for: French SMEs that want short-term financing on invoices or stock without a bank loan process.

Defacto is the trade name of defacto, sas, a financing company licensed by the ACPR under number 734364. It finances accounts receivable and stock, and it offers Treasury Flex for cash flow. The invoice product is the closest match to the invoice side of the BlueVine range.

Defacto states that financing is paid out in minutes and offers an eligibility test on its site. It also sells an embedded API, so a software platform can offer credit to its own users. The pages we read show no rates, fees or limits, and the offer is aimed at French businesses with French invoices.

What Defacto does better than BlueVine

  • ACPR licence number and RCS registration published
  • Stock financing as a separate product
  • Payout in minutes, per the site
  • Embedded API for platforms

Where Defacto is a step down from BlueVine

  • French businesses only
  • No rates or limits in the text we read
  • Customer data location not stated

Standout against BlueVine. Defacto is the only tool here that finances stock as well as receivables under an ACPR licence.

CapitalBox

Stockholm SME lender covering five European markets with fast decisions

Stockholm, Swedennot shown on the pages we read#6 in Business Lending Platforms

Best for: Small companies in Sweden, Finland, Denmark, the Netherlands or Lithuania that want a quick online loan decision.

CapitalBox AB is a Stockholm company, founded in 2015, that belongs to the Multitude Group, with Multitude AG in Zug, Switzerland as parent. It lends to small companies in Sweden, Finland, Denmark, the Netherlands and Lithuania. BlueVine serves one national market, so CapitalBox suits a business that operates across several of these five.

The site says an application takes under five minutes and a decision usually comes within 24 hours. The Swedish rules require a minimum revenue of SEK 420,000 a year and exclude companies with owners living outside Sweden. No rates, loan limits or fees appear in the text we read, and the English site does not name the legal entity.

What CapitalBox does better than BlueVine

  • Five national markets under one brand
  • Application in under five minutes, per the site
  • Published eligibility requirements for Sweden
  • Organisation number in the privacy policy

Where CapitalBox is a step down from BlueVine

  • Swedish rules exclude owners living outside Sweden
  • No rates or limits in the text we read
  • No card or current account

Standout against BlueVine. CapitalBox is the only tool here that lends across Sweden, Finland, Denmark, the Netherlands and Lithuania.

Liberis

London revenue-based funding, mostly through partner platforms, merged with Qred

London, United Kingdomnot shown on the pages we read; the site links a representative APR page for UK loans#7 in Business Lending Platforms

Best for: Small businesses that sell through a platform which already offers Liberis funding.

Liberis Ltd is a London company that offers Starter Capital, Pay with Liberis, Working Capital and Flex Capital, mostly through partner platforms. Its homepage says the merger with Qred is complete. German fund entities in Munich are named with BaFin registration, which gives it a footprint beyond the UK.

Liberis states in its own footer that its Business Cash Advance is not a loan and not FCA regulated. That difference matters against BlueVine, whose products are loans and credit lines. A borrower has fewer of the protections that a regulated loan brings. The pages we read show no prices, and US website terms also exist.

What Liberis does better than BlueVine

  • Funding offered inside partner platforms
  • Partner API and sandbox
  • German fund entities named with BaFin registration
  • Company number and address published

Where Liberis is a step down from BlueVine

  • Cash advance is not a loan and not FCA regulated
  • No prices in the text we read
  • Owners not named in the text we read

Standout against BlueVine. Liberis is the only tool here that states plainly that its cash advance is not a loan.

Lendo

Swedish broker that asks up to 40 lenders after one credit check

Stockholm, SwedenFree and non-binding for the applicant, per the site; lenders set the loan price#8 in Business Lending Platforms

Best for: Swedish limited companies and sole traders that want several offers from a single application.

Lendo AB in Stockholm is part of Vend Marketplaces ASA and sends one application to up to 40 lenders, with a single UC credit check. BlueVine is one lender with its own products, so Lendo gives a different kind of replacement: a market of offers instead of one provider.

The service is free and non-binding for the applicant, per the site, and lenders set the price. The loan amount of up to SEK 800,000 appears next to the general loan comparison, and the pages we read do not say whether it applies to business loans. The site is in Swedish, and data is controlled jointly with a Norwegian company.

What Lendo does better than BlueVine

  • Up to 40 lenders from one application
  • One credit check for all offers
  • Free and non-binding for the applicant
  • Covers limited companies, sole traders and partnerships

Where Lendo is a step down from BlueVine

  • A broker, so terms come from another lender
  • Swedish-language site
  • Business loan limits not clearly stated

Standout against BlueVine. Lendo is the only tool here that asks up to 40 lenders after one UC credit check.

Funding Options

London credit broker that compares loans, asset finance and invoice finance

London, United KingdomNot shown on the pages we read; the site offers an eligibility check that does not affect the credit score#9 in Business Lending Platforms

Best for: UK businesses that want to compare several finance products and lenders in one request.

Funding Options Limited is an FCA-authorised credit broker in London that compares business loans, asset finance, invoice finance, merchant cash advance and revolving credit. Against BlueVine, which sells its own loan and credit line, the broker route spreads the application across many lenders and many finance types.

The eligibility check does not affect the credit score, and calculators exist for loans, invoice finance and asset finance. The site mentions an advisor panel of more than 1.8k advisors. Because Funding Options is a broker, rates and contract come from the chosen lender, and the pages we read name no rates or limits.

What Funding Options does better than BlueVine

  • Many finance types in one request
  • Eligibility check without a credit score impact
  • Company number and FCA authorisation stated
  • Calculators for three product types

Where Funding Options is a step down from BlueVine

  • A broker, not a lender
  • No rates in the text we read
  • Promotes a third-party business account

Standout against BlueVine. Funding Options is the only tool here that compares asset finance next to loans and invoice finance.

Billie

Berlin pay-by-invoice for B2B sellers, a different product from a BlueVine loan

Berlin, GermanyMerchant fees negotiated per contract; not published#12 in Payment Processing

Best for: B2B merchants that want to offer invoice, instalment or trade-account checkout to business buyers.

Billie GmbH in Berlin, founded in 2017, is a B2B payments company supervised by BaFin. It does not lend to the business that applies. Billie pays the merchant upfront and takes the risk on the business buyer, so the product replaces BlueVine only for a seller who used credit to bridge unpaid invoices.

Billie offers Pay Later, Pay in X and Pay on Account, and plugs into Stripe, Adyen, Mollie and Klarna as a checkout option. The company reports more than 9,000 merchants and 1.3 million active business buyers. Merchant fees are negotiated per contract and not published, so cost cannot be compared with a loan rate.

What Billie does better than BlueVine

  • Merchant is paid upfront, whatever the buyer does
  • BaFin-supervised in Germany
  • Plugs into Stripe, Adyen, Mollie and Klarna
  • No loan to repay for the merchant

Where Billie is a step down from BlueVine

  • Not a loan or a credit line for the business
  • No published merchant fees
  • B2B invoicing only

Standout against BlueVine. Billie is the only tool here that removes the unpaid-invoice risk from the seller instead of lending against it.

Banxware

Berlin embedded lending for B2B platforms, with a direct route for SMEs

Berlin, Germanynot shown on the pages we read#11 in Business Lending Platforms

Best for: B2B platforms that want to offer financing, and SMEs reached through such platforms.

Banxware GmbH is a Berlin company, entered in the register at Amtsgericht Charlottenburg as HRB 218697 B, that supplies embedded lending to B2B platforms. A business reaches it through the platform where it already sells, whereas BlueVine is applied for directly on its own site.

Banxware points businesses to banxware.direct for financing and runs country sites for Germany, the UK and the US. The pages we read show no loan sizes, rates or eligibility rules. The legal permits named are a trade permit and a debt collection registration, and the pack does not name a banking licence.

What Banxware does better than BlueVine

  • Lending embedded in the platform a business already uses
  • Entity, register number and address published
  • German and English imprint available
  • Separate direct route for SMEs

Where Banxware is a step down from BlueVine

  • No loan terms in the text we read
  • Platform-first, not for every SME
  • No banking licence named

Standout against BlueVine. Banxware is the only tool here that gives a German SME a direct financing site next to its platform product.

YouLend

Embedded financing for platforms from UK, Danish and German entities

London, United Kingdomnot shown on the pages we read#12 in Business Lending Platforms

Best for: Platforms, payment providers and banks that want to offer financing, and merchants who sell on them.

YouLend runs through YouLend Limited in the UK, YouLend ApS in Denmark and YouLend GmbH in Germany, with FCA, Finanstilsynet and German register references. The three European entities replace the single California entity behind BlueVine with regulators close to the borrower.

The site lists Capital, Instant Payouts and Spend, eight country sites, and says a platform can go live within a week. The terms describe a settlement account model. The pages we read show no prices, loan sizes or repayment terms, owners are not named, and a single business may not be able to apply directly.

What YouLend does better than BlueVine

  • Three European entities with regulator references
  • Eight country sites listed
  • Platform live within a week, per the site
  • Payouts and spend products next to capital

Where YouLend is a step down from BlueVine

  • No prices or repayment terms in the text we read
  • Owners not named
  • Platform-first, direct application may not be possible

Standout against BlueVine. YouLend is the only tool here that operates through regulated entities in the UK, Denmark and Germany.

What actually breaks when you switch

Moving from BlueVine to a European lender breaks in places that a software migration does not. The first is the credit file. A US lender builds its decision on US data, and a European provider will pull a local credit report and local bank statements. Expect a fresh application, new financial statements and, for UK and Swedish lenders, local registration numbers and sometimes personal guarantees.

The second is the open balance. Any amount outstanding on a BlueVine line or term loan has to be repaid or settled under its own terms, which we did not read in full. Plan the new facility to land before the old one is closed. Invoice finance, such as Kriya or Defacto, also needs the customers on the ledger to be told, so allow time for that notification.

Can a European company still use BlueVine?

The pages we read describe a US product under US law, with limits in dollars and an SBA programme that only US businesses use. BlueVine does not say on those pages that it lends to companies in the UK or the EU, so eligibility has to be asked before any application. We did not test an application.

Even where an application is accepted, the contract is with a California company, under California terms. A European finance team should read the governing-law clause before signing, and compare it with a lender that names a UK, Swedish, French or German regulator in its imprint.

Which European lender replaces the BlueVine line of credit?

Several tools cover the revolving use case. Funding Circle offers FlexiPay, a credit line, and iwoca offers the Flexi-Loan with no minimum term on its pricing page. Qred and Defacto also list credit lines, in Sweden and in France. None of the pages we read gives rates, so a quote is the only way to compare cost.

The right answer depends on the country of the borrower more than on the product. A French SME will not be served by a UK lender, and a Swedish company with foreign owners may fail the local rules of CapitalBox, which exclude owners living outside Sweden.

Which one to pick

For a UK limited company that wants a direct replacement for the BlueVine loan or line, start with iwoca and Funding Circle, and add Kriya if invoices are the main need. For a French company with unpaid invoices or stock, Defacto is the match. For a Swedish business, Qred and CapitalBox are the lenders, and Lendo gives a comparison across many.

If the business sells through a platform, check whether YouLend, Banxware or Liberis is already offered there. If it sells to other businesses on invoice, Billie can remove the credit risk from the seller instead of adding debt. None of the European tools matches SBA 7(a), and none publishes full rates, so ask for written quotes before choosing.

Frequently Asked Questions

There is no single answer, because it depends on the country and on the product. For UK businesses that want a loan or credit line, iwoca and Funding Circle are the most direct matches. For Sweden, Qred and CapitalBox are the lenders on this page. For invoice-based financing, Kriya in the UK and Defacto in France cover the invoice finance that BlueVine also lists.

Kriya states that it offers Growth Guarantee Scheme loans up to GBP 2m, a UK government-backed scheme. That is the closest match on this page to the guarantee idea behind SBA 7(a), but the scheme is UK-only and the details differ. Anyone relying on a guarantee should read the scheme terms on Kriya's own site.

Mostly not. The pages we read show no rates for Funding Circle, Qred, Kriya, Defacto, CapitalBox, Liberis, Banxware or YouLend. iwoca states on its pricing page that it has no hidden fees and no minimum terms, and shows a representative APR on its homepage. Lendo and Funding Options say the comparison is free and leave pricing to the lenders.

Lendo in Sweden and Funding Options in the UK are brokers, so the loan contract is with the lender that makes the offer. Banxware and YouLend supply embedded lending to platforms, and Liberis sells mostly through partner platforms. The rest, such as iwoca, Funding Circle, Qred, Kriya, Defacto and CapitalBox, lend under their own name.

Almost none of the pages we read name a data location for customers. Defacto names Amazon Web Services EMEA SARL in Luxembourg as the host of its website, which is not the same as customer data location. Billie states Germany. For the others, ask the lender in writing where applicant data and bank statements are held.
