Our review
OpenRPA is open-source RPA built by OpenIAP. The OpenIAP terms name OpenIAP ApS as the contracting company and state that disputes are governed by Danish law and the court in Randers. The product is paired with OpenCore, which orchestrates the robots.
The site lists automation of Windows, SAP, Java, browsers, mainframes, images and Microsoft Office. It counts more than 500k user downloads and more than 3k GitHub stars, which are the vendor's own figures.
Robots and scripting in OpenRPA
OpenRPA lets you embed inline code in C#, VB, Python, PowerShell or AutoHotKey inside a workflow. Reactive triggers respond to events such as file changes, keyboard input or Outlook out-of-office.
The site describes assisted robots with Forge Forms and unattended robots run through RDP, plus picture-in-picture mode that keeps a robot in the corner of the screen.
OpenCore, support and licensing
OpenCore deploys across cloud, edge and on-premise environments and can run on Docker or Kubernetes. Premium licences are issued monthly through the customer page at app.openiap.io and unlock features not in the open-source version.
Community support is free through the forum. Paid support, training and installation go through partners, and OpenIAP offers hourly consulting. The terms state an uptime aim above 98% that is not a service level agreement.
OpenRPA as a European alternative to UiPath
OpenRPA covers the same ground as UiPath's studio and robots for Windows applications, and OpenCore plays the orchestrator role. Both are free to start and the company contracts under Danish law.
UiPath still offers process intelligence, document processing and a large partner network, none of which OpenIAP lists on the pages we read.
Points against
OpenRPA robots are Windows-oriented and the premium features sit behind licences whose prices are on request. The terms state an uptime aim of 98% without a service level agreement, and paid support runs through partners. The OpenIAP street address, hosting region and licence name are not stated on the pages we read. For a lighter local option see Ui.Vision RPA.
