Detailed Review
FindTutors is owned by Tus Media S.L., registered in the Mercantile Registry of Barcelona (volume 42792, folio 111, page B413067), with its registered office at Pallars 3-5. The terms state that Spanish law applies and that the courts of Barcelona hear disputes when the user lives outside Spain.
The home page counts 4,098,720 ads for private lessons in over 350 subjects.
How FindTutors works
FindTutors is a directory of ads. Teachers and educational centres post listings, and students search by subject and place or choose online lessons by video call.
The home page states that tutor sign-up is free. It does not explain the fee structure for students on the pages we read.
Terms and responsibilities
The terms for teachers state that teachers and centres are solely responsible for being correctly registered in their professional activity. Tus Media excludes responsibility for this.
The terms also mention passing teacher profile data to GoStudent Online Tutoring GmbH and its subsidiaries for commercial communications.
FindTutors as a European alternative to Wyzant
FindTutors gives users a contract with a Spanish company, where Wyzant is a US company with US hosting. FindTutors is a looser directory, while Wyzant runs bookings, payments and a Learning Studio.
The headline from £12/hr is a tutor rate, not a guaranteed price, and ad quality varies.
Limitations to Consider
FindTutors is a listing service, so vetting, payment protection and lesson tools are not described on the pages we read. Choose Tutorful for a guarantee and an online classroom.
Who Should Use FindTutors
Students who want to compare many tutor ads and contact tutors directly.
