Detailed Review
Apprentus is run by Apprentus Ltd, with its registered office at 20-22 Wenlock Road, London N1 7GU and company number 08897308. The legal notice states that the courts of the judicial district of London have jurisdiction.
The founder's note on the about page says the company launched in Brussels in October 2013 and now has more than 130,000 teachers across dozens of countries.
What Apprentus offers
The home page counts 83,807 teachers for school support, 20,365 for music lessons and 78,606 for language lessons. It also counts 101,131 teachers offering online lessons.
The terms state that the purpose of the site is to connect teachers and students and to allow profiles and posted classes.
Terms and registration
Registration happens on the Apprentus website. Users must be adults to post a class, and the terms say there is no minimum age to access courses.
The terms allow both sides to end the contract and the registration at any time without justification.
Apprentus as a European alternative to Wyzant
Apprentus gives learners a contract with a London company, where Wyzant is a US company with US hosting. Apprentus covers music and languages as well as school subjects.
The pages we read show no fee structure, commission or hourly rates, and the teacher counts overlap because one teacher can appear in several groups.
Limitations to Consider
Apprentus shows no prices or commission on the pages we read, and quality control of teachers is not described. Compare with Classgap for a free trial lesson.
Who Should Use Apprentus
