How do you choose European shipping software for a webshop?
Start with what leaves the warehouse and where it goes. A shop sending small parcels to Dutch addresses is served by MyParcel, whose public tariffs cover PostNL, DHL, DPD and UPS.
A shop shipping across several countries has more to gain from ShippyPro, which lists 190+ carriers, or Sendcloud, which lists 170+ carriers and 100+ integrations. A Polish store that ships domestically with InPost and similar couriers is the case Furgonetka was built for, and a Swedish business sending both parcels and pallets is the case Sendify was built for.
Then look at what happens after the label. Sendcloud's Growth plan adds a branded tracking page and return portal, and Shipmondo includes a return portal and delivery checkout on every plan, including the free one.
If you need delivery options in checkout, nominated day delivery or a parcel shop locator, Wuunder puts those on its Growth and Scale plans, and nShift sells Checkout as a separate product. A tool that only prints labels will leave the returns problem for another subscription.
Finally check the plan caps, because every vendor here limits something. Sendcloud caps labels per year, Wuunder caps carriers per plan, ShippyPro caps shipments per month and Cargoson tiers its plans by users and shipments. Count your busiest month, not your average one.
How do prices compare across European shipping platforms?
There are three pricing models and they do not compare directly. The first is a subscription with a per-label fee: Sendcloud charges EUR 28 a month plus EUR 0.10 per label on Lite, and Wuunder charges EUR 35 a month plus EUR 0.10 per label on Essential.
The second is a flat subscription: Shipmondo at EUR 0, EUR 11 and EUR 29 a month, ShippyPro at EUR 49 a month for Pro250 on yearly billing, Shipmate from GBP 49.99 a month billed annually, and Sendify at SEK 0 for Bas and SEK 379 a month for Plus.
The third is a carrier tariff table, which is MyParcel's approach. Its page shows a DHL parcel at EUR 5.95 ex VAT in the 1,000 to 2,499 shipments a year band, with add-ons from EUR 5 a month. Furgonetka works the same way, with a price list per courier service and no plan table. For these two, the cost has to be computed from your own route mix.
Three vendors publish no usable number at all or only a starting point: nShift gives no price list, Shippingbo prices only its Starter pack, and Eurosender quotes per route from EUR 2.99 per shipment. ShippyPro adds a trap of its own, since promotional prices on the larger plans rise from year 2, so read the step-up price and not the headline. Cargoson adds a one-time setup fee whose amount is not published.
Does a European shipping tool keep customer data under EU jurisdiction?
For the contract, mostly yes. Sendcloud contracts through Sendcloud B.V. in Eindhoven for customers in the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain and the rest of the world, through Sendcloud GmbH in Munich for Germany and Austria, and through Sendcloud Ltd for the United Kingdom, with Dutch law applying.
MyParcel is a trade name of DM Productions B.V. in Hoofddorp, Shipmondo's terms are under Danish law with the City Court in Odense as first instance, and Sendify's user agreement is under Swedish law with Gothenburg district court.
Two entities fall outside the EU. nShift Group AS is Norwegian, which puts it in the EEA, and it publishes a data processing agreement and a subcontractor list. Shipmate Systems Limited is registered in England and Wales, and the UK is covered by an EU adequacy decision rather than being inside the EEA. Whether that is acceptable depends on your counsel, not on this list.
Hosting is a separate question and the pages reviewed rarely answer it. None of the tool pages for Sendcloud, ShippyPro, MyParcel, Shipmondo, Wuunder, nShift, Sendify, Furgonetka, Shippingbo, Shipmate or Eurosender state a data location.
Cargoson says it runs on AWS servers without naming a region. ShippyPro's privacy policy names US-based providers such as Mailchimp and Hootsuite among recipients, which is worth reading before you sign a processing agreement. ShippyPro and nShift both list ISO 27001, and ShippyPro also lists SOC 2 Type II.
How hard is it to migrate from ShipStation to a European platform?
ShipStation is operated by Auctane LLC of Austin, Texas, prices in US dollars starting at $14.99 a month for 50 shipments, and advertises 200+ parcel carriers. Its discounts are built around USPS, UPS and FedEx, so a shop that ships only inside Europe often uses little of what it pays for.
The shop connectors are the easy part. Sendcloud takes orders from Shopify, Etsy, Amazon, Magento and PrestaShop, MyParcel connects to 30+ webshops and marketplaces, and Shipmate offers Shopify and WooCommerce plugins. The harder part is carrier contracts.
Sendcloud supports your own contract from the Lite plan up, MyParcel does it through the MyContracts add-on from EUR 10 a month, Wuunder lists it from Essential, and Sendify only on Plus for a fee. If your rates come from a negotiated contract, confirm that the new tool can book on it before you move.
Expect to rebuild the customer-facing pages. Tracking emails, return portals and checkout delivery options live inside the platform, so the branded versions at Sendcloud, Shipmondo or Wuunder replace ShipStation's, they do not inherit them. Run both tools in parallel for one carrier first and move the rest after a month of returns.
When is a label tool the wrong choice and a TMS or warehouse suite the right one?
A label tool assumes that you pack parcels and hand them to a courier. Once you ship pallets, part loads or full trucks, you need quotes and bookings, not labels. Eurosender compares quotes from 100+ shipping companies for parcels, pallets, vans and freight, and Sendify books pallets, part loads and containers on one invoice. Cargoson goes further as a TMS where you upload your own rate sheets and book your own carriers, from EUR 199 a month.
The other direction is the warehouse. Shippingbo combines an order management, warehouse management and transport management system, with picking sessions, PDA scanning and ERP connectors as order sources, from EUR 19 ex VAT a month. For a seller who packs their own orders and has stock in several locations, that replaces three tools. For a shop whose goods sit in a 3PL, it is more than needed.
Do not switch at all if you ship a few dozen parcels a month through one carrier and ShipStation's entry plan works for you. Sendcloud's free plan covers 20 parcels, so the saving is small and the migration is not free in hours.
How do these tools connect to ERP and shop systems?
ShippyPro lists enterprise connectors for SAP Business One, SAP Cloud ERP, Microsoft Dynamics 365, OneStock and Cegid next to its shop connectors. nShift lists integrations with Microsoft Dynamics, SAP, NetSuite and Visma, and also with warehouse systems and 3PL or 4PL partners. Cargoson lists Business Central, Odoo, Magento and WooCommerce connectors.
At the small end, connection means a shop plugin. Furgonetka imports orders from stores, Shipmate has Shopify and WooCommerce plugins plus a Shipping API, and Shipmondo documents its API at shipmondo.dev with a sandbox, a changelog and a CLI. Eurosender names no native webshop connectors, only a batch import of 100 orders and an API, so expect developer time there.
