Detailed Review
Sendcloud sits between a webshop and its carriers. Orders from shop systems and marketplaces such as Shopify, Etsy, Amazon, Magento and PrestaShop arrive in one place, labels are created with Sendcloud's own carrier rates or with your own carrier contract, and customers receive tracking messages by email, SMS and WhatsApp.
The company states that it serves more than 30,000 e-commerce businesses and connects 170+ carriers through 100+ integrations. It starts with a free plan for up to 20 parcels a month and a 14-day free trial of the paid plans.
Shipping and Carrier Choice
The Lite plan includes Sendcloud's shipping rates, the option to use your own carrier contract, carrier pickups, customs documents and a service point picker in checkout. Higher plans add shipping rules and more users and integrations.
Sendcloud publishes sample carrier rates on its homepage, for example DPD from EUR 3.38 and GLS from EUR 3.74, which makes the starting cost easy to check.
Tracking and Returns
The Growth plan adds a branded tracking page with promotions, a branded return portal and tracking notifications in 8 languages. Premium adds advanced returns management, tracking page analytics, shipping analytics and white-label branding.
This is the main reason shops with a high return rate look at Sendcloud: the post-purchase pages are part of the platform, not a separate tool.
Legal Entity
Sendcloud's terms list the contracting entity per customer country: Sendcloud B.V. in Eindhoven for customers in the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain and the rest of the world, Sendcloud GmbH in Munich for Germany and Austria, and Sendcloud Ltd for the United Kingdom. Dutch law applies to the services and terms.
Limitations to Consider
Every plan has a yearly label cap (Lite 4,800, Growth 12,000, Premium 120,000, Pro 360,000), and the entry plans limit users, integrations and shipping rules, so a growing shop moves up a tier quickly. Cross-border shipping partnerships and dynamic delivery options in checkout are reserved for the top Pro plan. The contracting entity depends on your country, so check the Appendix B of the terms.
Who Should Use Sendcloud
Webshops of any size that ship with several carriers and want branded tracking and returns, and that want a Dutch company bound by GDPR as processor.
