European Home Services Marketplaces

A home services marketplace connects people who need a repair, renovation or cleaning with local professionals who send quotes or accept bookings. The European platforms below are run by companies in the UK, Germany, the Netherlands, France, Italy, Poland and Spain, so contracts, consumer terms and data processing sit with a European operator instead of a US marketplace.

How we rank these tools — 4-step process
  1. 1
    European ownership, verified

The company is headquartered and incorporated in the EU, EEA, the UK, Switzerland or Israel, and processes customer data in Europe or Israel. A US parent company disqualifies a tool from this page regardless of where its servers are.

  2. 2
    Category fit and hands-on review

What the tool actually does, who it suits, and where it falls short — checked against the vendor’s own documentation, changelog and pricing page rather than its marketing copy.

  3. 3
    Compliance and pricing check

GDPR posture, hosting location and the prices quoted on this page are verified against the vendor’s public pricing before publication, and re-checked when we revisit the category.

  4. 4
    Position on this page

Placement on this page can be paid, and that can affect the order tools appear in. It never buys a listing: a tool that fails the checks above is not here at any price, and payment does not change the shortcomings we write about. A vendor can ask us to correct a factual error — not to remove a criticism.

Vendors can pay for visibility on this page. It never changes what an entry says about a product, including the criticism, and we earn nothing when you click through to a vendor. Vendors can pay for more visibility, higher up on the review pages; it never affects whether a tool is listed. Editorial policy

Key takeaways

  • Checkatrade ranks first in this directory because it is the only platform here that states checks on tradespeople (up to 12) and backs them with a free guarantee of up to GBP 1,000.
  • Bark and Oferteo both make professionals pay to answer a request, Bark in credits that expire after 3 months and Oferteo in points priced by industry, size and location.
  • Helpling is the only platform in this category that shows a customer price before any request, an hourly range of €16.90 to €35 with €22.00 as the Berlin average.
  • SeFaireAider names Infomaniak in Geneva as its host, while StarOfService names Amazon Web Services Inc. in Seattle and Cronoshare says some of its servers are in the United States.
  • Seven of the eleven platforms publish no price for professionals, so a tradesperson has to ask Trustoo, ProntoPro, StarOfService, Checkatrade, Blauarbeit, SeFaireAider or Cronoshare what joining costs.

European home services marketplaces are online platforms, run by a company established in Europe, where households post a repair, renovation or cleaning job and local professionals send quotes or accept bookings, so the contract, consumer terms and personal data of the request sit with a European operator.

#1 Checkatrade

London, United Kingdom Free for homeowners; platform fees may apply to some features and are shown before they are charged; trade membership prices are not shown on the pages we read Demo on request

Homeowners search for a tradesperson, message them or request quotes, and read reviews that Checkatrade says come from jobs arranged on the platform. The home page shows 4.8 from more than 114,000 ratings.

The Platform Terms say a tradesperson on Checkatrade has passed up to 12 checks, while free-profile entries have not and cannot be contacted there. The guarantee may contribute up to GBP 1,000 if the issue is reported within 6 months, at Checkatrade's discretion. Trade membership prices and the hosting location are not shown. The sites are solvari.nl and solvari.be, and the user terms are dated 29 June 2026.

On the professional side Solvari separates packages from households. The Essential package for sole traders is listed at €49 per month with marketplace leads, a Verified label, a basic CRM and an API link, and credit bundles exist. The page text breaks off after that figure, so higher tiers are unknown. Pages are Dutch and hosting is not stated.

It calls this free and non-binding, and states an average response time of 48 hours.

The site also runs a craftsman directory and a guide section, and claims 150,000 craftsmen and more than 2 million requests, all of which are its own figures. The home page promises hosting in Germany, while the imprint names Amazon Web Services EMEA SARL, and the privacy page mentions tools from Google and Meta. How tradespeople pay is not shown. • Operating company. Oferteo S.A.
  • Jurisdiction. EU (Poland)
  • Where the data sits. not stated on the pages we read

Customers post a request for free, and contractors buy packages of points and spend them to see contact details. The regulations in force since 20 August 2026 name Oferteo S.A. as administrator and list its national court register entry.

The price of a request in points depends on industry, size and location, so a house build costs more points than a small task. Oferteo claims about 900 categories, 750,000 contractors and 150,000 new requests a month, and the first package carries a 45-day satisfaction guarantee. Package prices render through script and were not captured, and hosting is not stated.

Categories run from accounting to gardening, house cleaning, DJs and tutoring.

A professional spends credits to respond, and then receives the customer's phone number and email. The credit price depends on service, job value and local supply and demand, and the pricing page shows no amounts. Claims of 500,000 registered professionals and 6.7 million customers reached since 2015 are the company's own. The site calls itself a guide with an intermediation service for quote and contact requests.

A request is sent to GAGI and its partners, and the terms say partners act as independent data controllers. The home page lists locksmiths, plumbers, electricians, painters and gardeners, and a Belgian block adds roofing, insulation, solar panels and heat pumps. Contact is described as free for customers. A callback option exists, but no review system and no professional pricing appear.

Quote requests are labelled free, and a section of job offers addresses workers.

The privacy policy says the company uses cloud storage from Linode and Liquid Web and that some servers are in the United States. The Italian page appears to be a translation of a Spanish policy, with part of the text left in Spanish. No pricing, review checks or terms of service were read, and the page set we saw is thin.

What Cronoshare does well

  • Company name, tax ID and address published
  • Wide domestic and personal service list

  • GDPR contact address given
  • Job offers section for workers

Where Cronoshare falls short

How do I choose a home services marketplace in Europe?

Start with the country, because almost every platform in this category works in one market and one language. Checkatrade and Bark serve the United Kingdom, Blauarbeit and Helpling serve Germany, Solvari and Trustoo serve the Netherlands, Oferteo serves Poland, ProntoPro and Cronoshare serve Italy, and SeFaireAider and StarOfService serve France.

Then choose the job type. Renovation and installation projects fit Solvari, Blauarbeit and Trustoo. Regular cleaning fits Helpling. A wide mix of lessons, events and house services fits Bark, StarOfService and ProntoPro. Checkatrade fits a homeowner who wants checked trades more than a long list of categories.

Last, read what the operator discloses. Every platform here names its company, but the depth varies: Blauarbeit publishes a commercial register number, Solvari a dated privacy statement, and ProntoPro a VAT number, while the terms page of ProntoPro returned only footer text when we read it.

What does a home services marketplace cost customers and professionals?

Customers mostly pay nothing to send a request. Blauarbeit, Oferteo, Solvari, SeFaireAider and Cronoshare describe the request as free, and Checkatrade is free for homeowners, with platform fees that may apply to some features and are shown before they are charged. Helpling is the exception because the customer pays the hourly price of the cleaner.

Professionals pay in four different ways. Bark sells credits per response with no commission. Oferteo sells packages of points. Solvari lists an Essential package at €49 per month. Helpling charges providers a registration fee whose amount is not shown. For Checkatrade, Blauarbeit, ProntoPro, Trustoo, StarOfService, SeFaireAider and Cronoshare the pages we read show no professional price.

A tradesperson comparing platforms should therefore ask each one for the price per lead or per month in writing, and track won jobs against spend for a quarter before committing.

Which marketplace is jurisdictionally safest for personal data?

Contracting entity and hosting are two separate questions here. Blauarbeit, Solvari, Trustoo, Helpling, ProntoPro, Oferteo, StarOfService, SeFaireAider and Cronoshare are EU companies. Checkatrade and Bark are British, which the EU treats under an adequacy decision, outside the EEA.

Hosting is where the list splits. SeFaireAider names Infomaniak Network SA in Geneva. Blauarbeit says hosting is in Germany, yet its imprint names Amazon Web Services EMEA SARL. StarOfService states hosting by Amazon Web Services Inc. in the United States, and Cronoshare states that some servers are in the United States. Helpling lists US tools such as Braze in its privacy policy.

For the remaining platforms the pages we read do not state a hosting location, so a privacy-sensitive household should ask the operator before posting a job with an address.

How do I move from Thumbtack to a European marketplace?

Thumbtack is a United States marketplace, and its website returned a bot challenge to our checks, so we do not describe its terms. What matters for a move is that nothing transfers. Reviews, job records and messages stay behind, and a European platform starts a profile from zero.

For a customer the move takes one new request. Pick the platform for your country, describe the job once, and compare the quotes. For a professional the move takes longer: build a profile, collect first reviews and learn the pricing model. Oferteo offers a 45-day satisfaction guarantee on its first package, and Bark returns credits if its first pack brings no business, which lowers the test cost.

When should you not switch to a European home services marketplace?

Do not switch if you live where the European platform does not operate. Each platform here covers a few countries at most, and Trustoo with four countries and StarOfService with six country sites are the widest. A marketplace that does not list tradespeople in your postcode is of no use however clean its terms are.

Also stay put if you are a professional with a strong review record. Reviews do not transfer, and platforms such as Bark and Oferteo still charge per response, so the cost of competing for leads does not disappear. A guarantee, as on Checkatrade, is discretionary and capped, so it does not replace insurance or a written contract with the tradesperson.

How do quote platforms differ from booking platforms in this category?

A quote platform collects a description of the job and passes it to professionals who answer with a price. Solvari, Blauarbeit, Oferteo, Bark, SeFaireAider and Cronoshare work this way. The customer waits, compares and then chooses, which suits renovation where no two jobs are alike.

A booking platform shows prices up front. Helpling asks for postcode, date and frequency, then lists cleaner profiles with an hourly price. Trustoo sits in between as a directory of rated companies that the customer contacts, and Checkatrade lets a homeowner message or request quotes from checked trades. Pick quotes for one-off projects and booking for repeat services.

How we selected and ranked these 11 tools

Every tool on this page is in the European Purpose directory, which means the operating company is established in Europe and we have verified that from the company register or the vendor's own legal notice rather than from a marketing page. Tools headquartered outside Europe are not eligible, however good they are.

  1. Feature verification (weight: 40%). We check each capability against the vendor's own documentation and product pages, and record what the tool does rather than what the category is assumed to include.
  2. Ease of adoption (weight: 30%). Integrations, published API access, trial availability and how much configuration stands between signing and a usable result.
  3. Value and transparency (weight: 30%). Published pricing counts in a vendor's favour; quote-only pricing is recorded as quote-only rather than estimated. We weigh what a buyer gets for the entry price, not the headline feature count.
  4. Editorial review. Every page is researched and drafted with AI assistance, and the compliance and pricing claims are checked against the vendor's documentation before it is published under the founder's editorial responsibility. The three weights above decide the order; a position is a ranking against the other European tools in this category, not an absolute score.

Vendor-reported outcomes — ROI figures, margin uplift, time saved — are labelled as vendor claims wherever they appear on this page. We have not audited them, and neither has anyone else who quotes them. Read our full editorial process for how pages are re-verified.

Frequently asked questions

Checkatrade holds #1 in this directory for checked tradespeople in the United Kingdom, because it states up to 12 checks per trade and a guarantee of up to GBP 1,000. Which platform is best for you depends on the country: Solvari for Dutch and Belgian renovation, Blauarbeit for German craftsmen, Oferteo for Poland, ProntoPro or Cronoshare for Italy, and SeFaireAider or StarOfService for France.

Yes, several, depending on the country. Bark in London is the closest in model, with professionals paying credits to respond. Checkatrade covers vetted UK trades. Solvari, Blauarbeit and Oferteo cover renovation requests in the Netherlands and Belgium, Germany and Poland. None of them covers every country, and none of them transfers your Thumbtack reviews.

For customers, Blauarbeit, Oferteo, Solvari, SeFaireAider and Cronoshare describe requests as free, and Checkatrade is free for homeowners. Bark leads are free to receive.
