European Alternatives to Later

Looking for a European alternative to Later? Later's social media terms are a contract with Victory Square Media Inc. under the laws of British Columbia and Canada, and its enterprise and influencer products are sold by Mavrck LLC, a Delaware company under Massachusetts law. Canada is outside the EU and the EEA.

Eleven European tools cover scheduling, analytics and the social inbox: five for small brands and creators, three for agencies with approval flows and three for larger teams, from companies in Spain, France, the United Kingdom, Germany, Romania, Poland, Slovakia and Austria.

How we rank these tools — 4-step process
  1. 1
    European ownership, verified

The company is headquartered and incorporated in the EU, EEA or Switzerland, and processes customer data in Europe. A US parent company disqualifies a tool from this page regardless of where its servers are.

  2. 2
    Category fit and hands-on review

What the tool actually does, who it suits, and where it falls short — checked against the vendor’s own documentation, changelog and pricing page rather than its marketing copy.

  3. 3
    Compliance and pricing check

GDPR posture, hosting location and the prices quoted on this page are verified against the vendor’s public pricing before publication, and re-checked when we revisit the category.

  4. 4
    Position on this page

Placement on this page can be paid, and that can affect which tools appear here and the order they appear in. It never buys a good review: a tool that fails the checks above is not here at any price, and payment does not change the shortcomings we write about. A vendor can ask us to correct a factual error — not to remove a criticism.

Vendors can pay for visibility on this page. It never changes what an entry says about a product, including the criticism, and we earn nothing when you click through to a vendor. Paid placement can affect which tools appear here and the order they appear in. Editorial policy

Key takeaways

  • Later's scheduler terms are a contract with Victory Square Media Inc. under British Columbia and Canadian law, and its influencer product is sold by Mavrck LLC of Delaware under Massachusetts law with binding arbitration.
  • Metricool (Madrid, Spain) has a permanent free plan for one brand with 20 posts a month, and Iconosquare (France) a free plan for two profiles with paid plans at €9, €33 and €69 a month.
  • Hopper HQ (UK) is the closest in shape to Later, with a visual planner, a link-in-bio tool and a 14-day trial.
  • Fanpage Karma (Berlin) lists a free plan and Professional at €29 a month for unlimited brands, and SocialBee (Romania) lists $24, $40.80 and $82.50 a month on annual billing.
  • Sendible and Facelift include unlimited users on every plan, which suits agencies and larger teams.

Why people leave Later

Later is a social media scheduler that started as an Instagram planner and now covers publishing across platforms, analytics, AI captions, a social inbox, approval flows, link in bio and a separate influencer marketing product. Its pricing page lists Starter at $18.75, Growth at $37.50 and Scale at $82.50 a month on yearly billing, with one, two or six social sets of eight profiles each, and a 14-day trial. There is no permanent free plan.

Later's social media terms are a contract with Victory Square Media Inc. (dba Later) and are governed by the laws of British Columbia and of Canada. Its influencer product is run by Mavrck LLC, a Delaware company whose terms follow Massachusetts law and send disputes to binding arbitration with a class-action ban. Canada is not in the EU or the EEA, so the UK and EU tools below give you a contracting party and a court closer to home.

Eleven European tools do the scheduling and analytics job: five aimed at small brands and creators, three at agencies that need client approvals, and three at bigger teams with a community inbox. None of the pages we read describes an influencer marketplace like Later's, so that part of Later has no match here.

  • The contract is Canadian, and the influencer product is American Later's scheduler terms point to British Columbia and Canadian law. If you buy its influencer or enterprise products, the contracting party can be Mavrck LLC of Delaware, with Massachusetts law, binding AAA arbitration and a class-action ban. That is a different set of rules from the scheduler contract, so read which product your order covers.
  • No free plan, and prices rise with social sets Later offers a 14-day trial and then $18.75, $37.50 or $82.50 a month on yearly billing, rising with the number of social sets and users. Several European tools do offer a permanent free plan: Metricool (one brand), Iconosquare (two profiles) and Fanpage Karma (one brand). If you only need to try a scheduler, that is a lower bar.
  • Users are often the price lever Later's Starter plan includes one user and Growth two. Sendible includes unlimited users on every plan, and Facelift advertises unlimited users on all three of its plans. For an agency or a team of five who all need to post, that changes what a plan costs.
  • Where Later is still ahead Later's own site claims a creator database of more than 20 million profiles, link in bio, and a dedicated influencer product. We found no European tool in this list that describes an influencer marketplace, so if influencer sourcing is why you use Later, you will need a separate tool for that.

What you have to replace, not just match

List what you use Later for: visual planning for Instagram and TikTok, scheduling, link in bio, analytics, or influencer work. Scheduling and analytics move easily. Link in bio exists at Hopper HQ and Agorapulse (on its Professional plan), and influencer sourcing does not move at all, on the pages we read.

Connect your accounts to the new tool before you cancel Later, schedule a week of posts there, and compare the analytics to Later's for the same days. Keep your link-in-bio address stable by pointing a domain you own at whichever tool you pick, so old posts and bios keep working.

What actually breaks when you switch

The hard part of leaving Later is what lives inside it: your queued posts, link-in-bio page and any influencer campaigns. Posts do not move across, so plan to re-schedule them. If your link in bio is a Later URL, set up the replacement first and update your profiles before you cancel.

Check the limits on the exact plan you need. Profile caps differ (5 on Iconosquare Starter, 5 on SocialBee Bootstrap, 3 channels on Swat.io Small), and some networks are gated, such as X on Iconosquare Launch and above and X as a paid add-on on Metricool.

Read which entity signs your order. NapoleonCat contracts with a US company for customers outside the EU and UK, and Hopper HQ and Sendible are UK companies, which is outside the EU but inside Europe.

Which European tool is closest to Later?

Hopper HQ is closest in shape: a visual post planner and calendar, bulk upload, a link-in-bio tool, hashtag research and mobile apps, with a 14-day trial. Metricool and Iconosquare cover scheduling and analytics with free plans, and Iconosquare leans harder on analytics.

None of them was verified to match Later's influencer features.

Which of these have a free plan?

Metricool (one brand, 20 posts a month, 30 days of analytics), Iconosquare (one user and two social profiles) and Fanpage Karma (one user and one brand, 30 days of analytics) list free plans on their own pages.

The others offer a trial: 14 days at Hopper HQ, SocialBee, Sendible, Iconosquare, NapoleonCat, Kontentino and Facelift, 21 days at Swat.io and 30 days at Agorapulse. Later itself has a 14-day trial and no free plan.

What suits an agency with several clients?

Sendible is built around client workspaces and gives unlimited users on every plan, with approval flows from the Plus plan. Kontentino is built around client approvals, Agorapulse and SocialBee have team and approval features on their higher plans, and Facelift and Swat.io suit larger teams.

Who is the contracting company behind these tools?

Metricool Software, SL (Madrid), Tripnity SAS (Limoges, trading as Iconosquare), Hopper HQ Limited (UK), uphill GmbH (Berlin, Fanpage Karma), SocialBee Labs SRL (Cluj-Napoca), Agorapulse SAS (Paris), Sendible Limited (London), Napoleon sp. z o.o. (Warsaw), Kontentino s.r.o. (Bratislava), Swat.io GmbH (Vienna) and Facelift brand building technologies GmbH (Hamburg). We read each in its own legal notice, terms or imprint.

Which one to pick

If you want to try before you pay, start with Metricool or Iconosquare, which both have permanent free plans, or Fanpage Karma if benchmarking matters. If you want the visual planner and link in bio that Later is known for, try Hopper HQ.

For agencies, Sendible gives unlimited users on every plan, Kontentino is built around client approvals, and Agorapulse is the one if the inbox matters most. For larger teams, look at Swat.io, NapoleonCat and Facelift, and ask for a quote, because none of them showed a price we could read.

Be honest about the gap. Later also runs an influencer marketing product with a large creator database, and we found nothing like it at these eleven tools. Switch if you want a European or UK contracting party and a court closer to home for scheduling and analytics, and keep Later, or add a separate influencer tool, if that product is why you use it.

Frequently Asked Questions

There is no single best one. Hopper HQ is the closest in shape, Metricool and Iconosquare are the easiest to try because they have free plans, and Sendible or Kontentino suit agencies. Pick by what you actually use Later for.

Later's pricing page lists Starter at $18.75 a month (one social set of eight profiles, one user), Growth at $37.50 (two sets, two users) and Scale at $82.50 (six sets, four users), all billed yearly. There is a 14-day free trial and no permanent free plan. Monthly billing costs more.

Iconosquare lists a permanent Free plan (one user, two social profiles), then Starter at €9, Launch at €33 and Scale at €69 a month, with a Custom plan for larger needs. There is a 14-day trial with no credit card, and annual plans save about two months.

SocialBee lists Bootstrap at $24 a month on annual billing (5 profiles), Accelerate at $40.80 (10 profiles) and Pro at $82.50 (25 profiles), with a 14-day trial and a 30-day money-back guarantee. Fanpage Karma has a free plan for one user and one brand, and Professional at €29 a month on annual billing with unlimited brands and three users.

Both list plan tiers, but the amounts on the pages we read vary by currency and billing period, so we do not quote them. Metricool has a Free plan, then Starter, Advanced and Custom; Agorapulse has Standard, Professional, Advanced and Custom with a 30-day trial.

Sendible includes unlimited users on all plans, and Facelift does too. Fanpage Karma includes three users on Professional. Iconosquare's Scale plan includes three users. Swat.io lists user counts per plan (2, 5 and 8 on Small, Medium and Large).

None of the pages we read describes one. Later's own site claims a database of more than 20 million creators for its influencer product, which is sold separately by Mavrck. If you need that, plan for a second tool.
