European Alternatives to Sprout Social
Looking for a European alternative to Sprout Social? Sprout Social, Inc. is a Chicago company with plans from $79 to $399 per seat per month, listening and analytics as extra modules, and Illinois law with arbitration.
No European tool is an exact copy, but twelve cover the listening, monitoring, analytics and shared inbox side: inbox suites, a Dutch listening and webcare platform, media monitoring tools and analytics specialists.
How we rank these tools — 4-step process
-
1
European ownership, verified
The company is headquartered and incorporated in the EU, EEA or Switzerland, and processes customer data in Europe. A US parent company disqualifies a tool from this page regardless of where its servers are.
-
2
Category fit and hands-on review
What the tool actually does, who it suits, and where it falls short — checked against the vendor’s own documentation, changelog and pricing page rather than its marketing copy.
-
3
Compliance and pricing check
GDPR posture, hosting location and the prices quoted on this page are verified against the vendor’s public pricing before publication, and re-checked when we revisit the category.
-
4
Position on this page
Placement on this page can be paid, and that can affect which tools appear here and the order they appear in. It never buys a good review: a tool that fails the checks above is not here at any price, and payment does not change the shortcomings we write about. A vendor can ask us to correct a factual error — not to remove a criticism.
Vendors can pay for visibility on this page. It never changes what an entry says about a product, including the criticism, and we earn nothing when you click through to a vendor. Paid placement can affect which tools appear here and the order they appear in. Editorial policy

Key takeaways
- Sprout Social, Inc. is a Chicago company under Illinois law with binding AAA arbitration. Plans cost $79 to $399 per seat per month on annual billing, and Listening and Premium Analytics are extra modules.
- This page lists twelve European tools, and eight of them are listening, monitoring, benchmarking or analytics specialists rather than publishing tools.
- Agorapulse (Paris) and Swat.io (Vienna) are the closest on the shared inbox, Coosto (Eindhoven) combines monitoring, webcare and publishing, and Mention (Paris) is the listening arm of the Agorapulse company.
- Determ (Zagreb) and Awario (Nicosia) publish prices: Determ from EUR 99 a month with unlimited users, Awario from EUR 29 on annual billing.
- Pulsar is from the UK, outside the EU, and Visibrain, SentiOne and Pulsar sell by quote, so budget needs a conversation.
- Ownership has moved: Mention was acquired by Agorapulse in April 2025 and Iconosquare by Positive Group in 2026. Check ownership before a multi-year contract.
Why people leave Sprout Social
Sprout Social is a social media management platform used for publishing, a shared inbox, reporting and, through add-on modules, social listening. Plans are priced per seat: Essentials $79, Standard $199, Professional $299 and Advanced $399 per seat per month on annual billing, $20 more on monthly billing, with Enterprise on request. There is a 30-day trial with no card.
It is an American company. Sprout Social, Inc. is in Chicago, its terms are governed by Illinois law and disputes go to binding arbitration through the American Arbitration Association. Listening and Premium Analytics are separate modules on top of the seat price, so a team that wants monitoring and deep reporting pays for them twice, once per seat and once for the module.
This page focuses on that part of the job: listening, monitoring, analytics and the inbox. It lists twelve European tools.
Two are full social suites with an inbox (Agorapulse, Swat.io), five are listening or media monitoring tools (Mention, Determ, Awario, SentiOne, Visibrain), one is a Dutch platform that joins listening and webcare (Coosto), three are analytics or benchmarking specialists (Iconosquare, Socialinsider, Fanpage Karma) and one is an audience intelligence platform from the UK (Pulsar). If you mainly need scheduling, see our Hootsuite page instead.
- The contract, the courts and the arbitration are in the United States Sprout Social, Inc. contracts from Chicago under Illinois law, with binding arbitration through the American Arbitration Association. Every tool here is run by a company established in Europe: France, the Netherlands, Austria, Croatia, Cyprus, Poland, Romania and Germany, plus the United Kingdom for Pulsar, which sits outside the EU. That changes which law applies, which court you can go to and which data protection authority is your counterpart.
- Listening and analytics are add-ons on top of a per-seat price Sprout lists Listening and Premium Analytics as modules for Standard plans and above, and the plans themselves cost $79 to $399 per seat per month. For a team of five on Professional that is already $1,495 a month before any module. Several European tools here include monitoring in the base plan or price by topic, not by seat: Determ has unlimited users on every plan, Awario starts at EUR 29 a month on annual billing, and Coosto lists plans from EUR 249.
- European listening tools cover news and web, not only social Determ monitors more than 100 million news sites next to Facebook, Instagram, X, YouTube, Reddit and Bluesky, Mention covers social and web sources, and Visibrain is built for crisis and reputation work. If your listening is about PR and press coverage as much as social posts, these are closer to the job than a social suite with a listening add-on.
- No single European tool does everything Sprout does Sprout combines publishing, inbox, reporting and listening. Agorapulse and Swat.io come closest on inbox and reporting, Coosto joins monitoring, webcare and publishing, and the listening specialists go deeper on monitoring but do not schedule posts. You may end up with two tools, and this page says which pairs make sense.
What you have to replace, not just match
List what you use Sprout for first. If it is the Smart Inbox and team replies, start with Agorapulse, Swat.io or Coosto. If it is Listening, compare Determ, Awario, Mention and SentiOne on price, and Visibrain or Pulsar if you need an enterprise service with analyst support. If it is reporting and competitor benchmarks, look at Iconosquare, Socialinsider and Fanpage Karma.
Move one brand first. Sprout keeps your queue, saved replies and report history on its side, so export the reports you need before you cancel and run both tools for a billing cycle. Listening queries can usually be rebuilt as Boolean searches, but historical mention data does not move across tools.
The alternatives compared

How each alternative compares to Sprout Social
- Which law reaches it. EU (France). Sprout Social is run from the United States, so the CLOUD Act obliges the provider to hand over data on a valid order regardless of which country the servers are in.
- Where the data sits. EU.
- Source code. Closed source, as Sprout Social is.
- Independently checked. GDPR.
Best for: Social teams that answer many messages and comments and want reporting on top
Agorapulse is run by Agorapulse SAS in Paris, with French law and the Paris Court of Appeal in its terms. We found no acquisition of Agorapulse itself. The company has bought Mention, the monitoring tool, and now sells both.
Its pricing page lists Standard at $79 per user per month billed annually ($99 monthly), with Professional and Advanced above, 10 social profiles included and a 30-day trial with no card. It supports eleven networks.
The price is per user, like Sprout, so a large team costs more. Listening is a separate product (Mention).
What Agorapulse does better than Sprout Social
- French company under EU law, where Sprout contracts in Chicago
- Standard plan at $79 per user a month on annual billing, below Sprout Standard at $199
- A 30-day trial with no card, the same length as Sprout
- Eleven networks, including Bluesky and Reddit
Where Agorapulse is a step down from Sprout Social
- Priced per user, as Sprout is
- Listening is a separate product, not part of the plan
- Prices are in dollars even though the company is French
- No free plan, only the trial
Standout against Sprout Social. It is the one that most closely matches Sprout across inbox, publishing and reporting, at a lower entry price.
Coosto
listening, webcare and publishing in one Dutch platform
Best for: Organisations in the Benelux and Spain that handle customer questions on social and want monitoring next to it
Coosto is run from Eindhoven (KvK 58880771) by Coosto B.V. and Coosto Spain SL, with an office in Alicante. Its terms are governed by Dutch law with the courts of the Netherlands. We did not find who owns it.
Its pricing page lists the Platform in three tiers from EUR 249 (Essential), EUR 299 (Growth) and EUR 349 (Pro) a month, covering a content calendar, publishing, monitoring, engagement and reporting, with higher tiers adding campaign and KPI reporting, a trend scanner and automated replies. The final price depends on users, accounts and filters.
There is a central inbox for webcare, and a demo instead of a published self-serve trial.
What Coosto does better than Sprout Social
- Dutch company under Dutch law and Dutch courts
- Monitoring, webcare inbox and publishing in one platform
- Prices in euros starting at a stated amount
- Webcare and monitoring are part of the platform tiers
Where Coosto is a step down from Sprout Social
- Final price depends on users, accounts and filters, so it is a quote in practice
- No self-serve trial price on the page
- Ownership not confirmed
- Less known outside the Benelux
Standout against Sprout Social. It puts monitoring and a webcare inbox in the base platform, from EUR 249 a month.
- Which law reaches it. EU (Austria). Sprout Social is run from the United States, so the CLOUD Act obliges the provider to hand over data on a valid order regardless of which country the servers are in.
- Where the data sits. EU (Austria and Germany).
- Source code. Closed source, as Sprout Social is.
- Independently checked. GDPR.
Best for: Regulated brands, public bodies and agencies with formal approval needs
Swat.io is run by Swat.io GmbH in Vienna (Firmenbuch FN 348798 p, UID ATU 65871657). It is described as independent and bootstrapped, and we found no acquisition.
Its plans are Small (3 channels, 2 users), Medium (5 channels, 5 users, adds approval processes and campaigns) and Large (8 channels, 8 users, extended permission levels). The inbox is an add-on. The trial is 21 days without a card, and SEPA direct debit is accepted.
The pricing page does not show amounts until you start the trial, so we do not quote a figure.
What Swat.io does better than Sprout Social
- Austrian company under EU law, outside Illinois jurisdiction
- Approval processes and permission levels built in
- A 21-day trial with no card
- SEPA direct debit as a payment method
Where Swat.io is a step down from Sprout Social
- Prices are not shown until you start a trial
- The inbox is a paid add-on
- Few channels per plan (3, 5 or 8)
- No listening product of its own
Standout against Sprout Social. It is built around approval and permission levels, from an Austrian company.
Mention
web and social listening from the company that also owns Agorapulse
Best for: Brands and agencies that want to monitor mentions across web and social sources
Mention is a brand of Agorapulse SAS in Paris (registration 432 322 964). Its terms name Agorapulse SAS as the contracting party, with French law and the Paris Commercial Court. Agorapulse completed the acquisition on 23 April 2025.
The site describes three parts: Monitor (mentions across more than a billion sources in real time), Analyze (customisable reports and dashboards) and Engage (publishing and community interaction). Its pricing page loads prices with a script, so we quote none.
Buying Mention means buying from the same company as Agorapulse, which is convenient if you want both but not a second independent supplier.
What Mention does better than Sprout Social
- French company under French law, outside Illinois jurisdiction
- Listening and reporting as the core product, not a module
- Monitor, Analyze and Engage in one tool
- Pairs with Agorapulse for the inbox
Where Mention is a step down from Sprout Social
- Prices could not be verified for this page
- Same owner as Agorapulse, so no vendor diversity
- Ownership changed in 2025, so check the roadmap
- Publishing is lighter than Sprout
Standout against Sprout Social. It is the dedicated listening tool from the same Paris company as the closest inbox alternative.
GDPR.
Best for: Brands focused on Instagram, TikTok and LinkedIn performance
Iconosquare is run by ICONOSQUARE SAS in Limoges (RCS 480 850 346), under French law. Positive Group, a French group formerly called Sarbacane, announced its acquisition in May 2026.

Paid plans start from EUR 9 a month billed yearly, Launch from EUR 33 adds automated reports and comment management, and Scale from EUR 69 adds post approval, 3 users and competitor monitoring. Custom starts from EUR 116 with white-label reporting and API access.
It supports eight networks. A 14-day trial needs no card.
What Iconosquare does better than Sprout Social
- A free plan for two profiles
- Paid plans from EUR 9, far below Sprout Essentials at $79
- Automated reports and competitor monitoring in the plans
- French company with prices in euros
Where Iconosquare is a step down from Sprout Social
- Entry plans are single-user
- No social listening on keywords
- Ownership changed in 2026
- Fewer networks than Sprout
Standout against Sprout Social. It pairs strong analytics with a free plan and a low first paid tier.
Determ
media and social monitoring with unlimited users and published prices
Best for: PR and communications teams that track news coverage and social mentions
Determ is run by Determ d.o.o. in Zagreb (MB 04514238, OIB 78206544075), under Croatian law and the exclusive jurisdiction of Croatian courts. It was called Mediatoolkit before the rename. We found no acquisition.
Plans are Focus at EUR 99 a month (1 topic, 1,000 mentions), Expand at EUR 299 (5 topics, 5,000 mentions) and Command at EUR 499 (10 topics, 10,000 mentions), with yearly prices of EUR 990, 2,990 and 4,990. Every plan has unlimited users, and the trial is 5 days with no card.
It monitors more than 100 million news sites plus Facebook, Instagram, X, YouTube, Reddit and Bluesky, with sentiment analysis, PR reports, alerts and Slack, Teams and Zapier integrations.
What Determ does better than Sprout Social
- Croatian company under EU law, where Sprout contracts in Chicago
- Unlimited users on every plan, where Sprout charges per seat
- Published prices from EUR 99 a month
- News and PR monitoring next to social
Where Determ is a step down from Sprout Social
- Topic and mention caps are tight on the Focus plan
- A 5-day trial is short
- No publishing or social inbox
- No LinkedIn or TikTok in the source list we found
Standout against Sprout Social. It is the one with unlimited users and published prices for monitoring both news and social.
Socialinsider
competitor benchmarking and reporting from Bucharest
Best for: Agencies and brands that report against competitors every month
Socialinsider is operated by Code Path S.R.L. in Bucharest (J40/10861/2016, CUI 36426318), under Romanian law and Romanian courts. We did not check its ownership.
Plans are Adapt at $82 a month on annual billing (20 profiles, 1 seat), Optimize at $124 (30 profiles, 2 seats) and Predict at $199 (40 profiles, 5 seats), plus Enterprise on request. All include competitor benchmarking, cross-network analytics and automated reports. The trial is 14 days with no card.
Extra profiles cost $6 a month each and extra team members $15, and API or Looker Studio access costs $100 a month each. Prices are in dollars.
What Socialinsider does better than Sprout Social
- Romanian company under EU law and Romanian courts
- Built for benchmarking competitors, not only your own profiles
- Published prices from $82 a month
- Automated reports on every plan
Where Socialinsider is a step down from Sprout Social
- Prices are in dollars, and add-ons raise the real cost
- Not a publishing or inbox tool
- No keyword listening
- Ownership not checked
Standout against Sprout Social. It is the one built around benchmarking and reporting, with a fixed-price plan ladder.
Awario
the lowest-priced listening tool here, with a free trial
Best for: Small teams and agencies that want brand monitoring on a budget
Awario is operated by TechFusion Ltd in Nicosia, Cyprus (HE369193). Its terms send disputes to the courts of Larnaca, but name the laws of England and Wales for matters the terms do not cover, which is worth reading before you sign.
Starter costs EUR 29 a month on annual billing (EUR 49 monthly) for 3 topics, 30,000 mentions a month and 1 user. Pro is EUR 89 or EUR 149 for 15 topics, 300,000 mentions and 10 team members, and Enterprise is EUR 249 or EUR 399 for 100 topics. The trial gives free access to Starter without a card.
It monitors social media, news, blogs and forums, and crawls the web for mentions.
What Awario does better than Sprout Social
- Cyprus company under EU law for disputes
- Starter at EUR 29 a month on annual billing, far below a Sprout seat
- A free trial with no card
- More mentions per month than Determ at similar prices
Where Awario is a step down from Sprout Social

- Starter has one user and three topics
- No publishing or inbox
- Ownership not checked
Standout against Sprout Social. It is the cheapest way into serious listening, with generous mention volumes.
- Which law reaches it. EU (Germany). Sprout Social is run from the United States, so the CLOUD Act obliges the provider to hand over data on a valid order regardless of which country the servers are in.
- Where the data sits. Germany.

- Independently checked. GDPR with German DPA.

It is stronger at researching profiles than at day-to-day publishing, and the interface is dense.
What Fanpage Karma does better than Sprout Social
- German company under EU law
- Research of any public profile, not only your own
- Influencer discovery and monitoring in the same product
- A free trial to test the analytics
Where Fanpage Karma is a step down from Sprout Social
- Prices could not be verified for this page

It has two products, Listen (brand monitoring, sentiment analysis, trend analytics and automated reports) and Automate (AI chatbots and voicebots for customer service). The site says it offers an EU cloud or on-premise deployment.

What SentiOne does better than Sprout Social
- Polish company under EU law

- Automated reports and crisis prevention features
Where SentiOne is a step down from Sprout Social

Pulsar is run by Fenix Media Limited trading as Pulsar, registered in England and Wales (04378213), in London. Its terms are governed by English law with the courts of England and Wales. The site names Pulsar Group plc as the parent company.
The product suite includes Narratives AI, TRAC, CORE, TRENDS, Crisis Oracle and CLEAR, an AI insight agent. It focuses on audience insight, trends and narratives across social, news and search data.
No prices are published. The UK is outside the EEA, and we did not check which entity contracts with EU customers.
What Pulsar does better than Sprout Social
- UK company outside Illinois jurisdiction, under UK GDPR with an EU adequacy decision
- Audience insight and narrative detection beyond keyword listening
- A modular suite for different teams
- Established with large brands according to its own site
Where Pulsar is a step down from Sprout Social
- UK, not EU: relies on an adequacy decision
- No public prices
- Not a publishing or inbox tool
- Heavy for small teams
Standout against Sprout Social. It is the one for audience research and narrative analysis rather than daily monitoring.
What actually breaks when you switch
The hard part of leaving Sprout is the data, not the accounts. Report history, saved replies, tags and queued posts do not move between tools, so export reports first and re-create the rest.
Listening queries need rebuilding. Recreate them as Boolean searches in the new tool, and compare results on the same week of data before you cancel.
Giving any tool access to your social accounts means an OAuth grant per network. Reconnect them in the new tool, then revoke Sprout access in each network settings.
Is there a European tool that does exactly what Sprout Social does?
Not that we could verify. Sprout combines publishing, a smart inbox, reporting and listening. Agorapulse and Swat.io cover publishing, inbox and reporting, and Agorapulse also owns Mention for listening. Coosto joins monitoring, webcare, publishing and reporting in one platform.
The rest are specialists. Determ, Awario, SentiOne, Visibrain and Pulsar are for listening and monitoring, Iconosquare, Socialinsider and Fanpage Karma for analytics and benchmarking. Every entry says which slice it covers.
Which of these replaces Sprout Social Listening?
Determ is the best fit if you need news and PR coverage next to social, with plans from EUR 99 a month and unlimited users. Awario is the lowest-priced option. Mention covers social and web sources. SentiOne is aimed at larger teams that also want AI customer service automation. Visibrain suits crisis and reputation teams, and Pulsar suits audience research.
Test with your real queries during a trial. Listening quality depends on your languages, your keywords and which networks you care about, and we cannot judge that from a pricing page.
Which of these has a shared inbox like the Smart Inbox?
Agorapulse offers one inbox for messages and comments with assignment and saved replies. Swat.io has an inbox as an add-on, positioned for team workflows. Coosto lists a central inbox for webcare across channels. Mention has an Engage module for community interaction.
Check the inbox in a trial. Message volume, supported networks and routing rules differ a lot between tools.
What does leaving Sprout Social cost in practice?
Mostly time. You reconnect every profile, rebuild saved replies and tags, re-create queued posts and rebuild listening queries. Report history stays in Sprout, so export it first.
On price, a team of five on Sprout Professional pays $1,495 a month on annual billing before add-ons. Determ with unlimited users is EUR 299 a month for five topics, so the saving can be large, but the two tools do different jobs.
Which one to pick
If the inbox is what you use most, start with Agorapulse, then Swat.io or Coosto. If listening is the point, compare Determ, Awario and Mention on price, and ask Visibrain, SentiOne or Pulsar for a quote if you need an enterprise service.
If reporting and benchmarks matter most, Iconosquare, Socialinsider and Fanpage Karma are the ones to try. Many teams will pair a listening tool with an inbox tool, for example Mention with Agorapulse.
Be realistic about the gap. Sprout is broad and mature, and none of these twelve matches all of it. Move if a European contract partner, a lower price or a specific strength matters more to you than breadth.
Frequently Asked Questions
It depends on the part you use. Agorapulse is the closest all-round answer if the inbox and reporting matter, Coosto if you want listening and webcare in one platform, Determ or Awario if it is mainly listening, and Iconosquare or Socialinsider if it is analytics. None of them copies Sprout whole.
Yes. Sprout Social, Inc. is headquartered in Chicago, Illinois. Its terms are governed by Illinois law and disputes go to binding arbitration through the American Arbitration Association.
Sprout lists Essentials at $79, Standard at $199, Professional at $299 and Advanced at $399 per seat per month on annual billing, with Enterprise on request. Monthly billing costs $20 more per seat. Listening and Premium Analytics are add-on modules. There is a 30-day trial with no card.
Awario starts at EUR 29 a month on annual billing (EUR 49 monthly) for 3 topics and 30,000 mentions, with a free trial and no card. Determ starts at EUR 99 a month for one topic, with unlimited users and a 5-day trial. Both are far below Sprout seat prices, but caps on topics and mentions apply.
Determ lists Focus at EUR 99 a month (EUR 990 a year), Expand at EUR 299 (EUR 2,990) and Command at EUR 499 (EUR 4,990), with 1, 5 and 10 topics, unlimited users and a 5-day trial with no card. Custom plans are available.
Agorapulse, Coosto, Determ, Awario, Socialinsider and Iconosquare publish prices. Visibrain sells by custom quote, Pulsar and SentiOne show no prices we could verify, and Mention, Swat.io and Fanpage Karma load prices with a script or after you start a trial, so we quote none.
Iconosquare combines analytics with scheduling and competitor monitoring from its Scale plan. Socialinsider is built around competitor benchmarking, from $82 a month on annual billing with a 14-day trial. Fanpage Karma analyses any public profile, not only your own.
Not all. Mention belongs to Agorapulse since April 2025, and Iconosquare has been bought by Positive Group (announced May 2026). Pulsar is part of Pulsar Group plc. We found no acquisition of Determ, Visibrain, Swat.io, Fanpage Karma or SentiOne, and we did not check the ownership of Coosto, Awario and Socialinsider.
Brand24 contracts through Brand24 Global Inc. in Florida, Digimind is now Onclusive Social and Onclusive is owned by Symphony Technology Group in the US, and we could not verify a European contracting entity for Meltwater. Every tool here must have a European contracting entity and owner.
Not automatically, in the sources we checked. Rebuild your queries in the new tool, export the reports you need and run both tools for one billing cycle so nothing is lost.
