European Alternatives to Hootsuite
Looking for a European alternative to Hootsuite? Hootsuite Inc. is a Canadian company in Vancouver, with paid plans from $99 a month, no free plan, and contracts under British Columbia law.
No European tool is an exact copy, but twelve cover parts of the job: an inbox-first platform, governance tools, planners with approval flows, cheap publishers, analytics specialists and one enterprise suite that also runs paid social.
How we rank these tools — 4-step process
-
1
European ownership, verified
The company is headquartered and incorporated in the EU, EEA or Switzerland, and processes customer data in Europe. A US parent company disqualifies a tool from this page regardless of where its servers are.
-
2
Category fit and hands-on review
What the tool actually does, who it suits, and where it falls short — checked against the vendor’s own documentation, changelog and pricing page rather than its marketing copy.
-
3
Compliance and pricing check
GDPR posture, hosting location and the prices quoted on this page are verified against the vendor’s public pricing before publication, and re-checked when we revisit the category.
-
4
Position on this page
Placement on this page can be paid, and that can affect which tools appear here and the order they appear in. It never buys a good review: a tool that fails the checks above is not here at any price, and payment does not change the shortcomings we write about. A vendor can ask us to correct a factual error — not to remove a criticism.
Vendors can pay for visibility on this page. It never changes what an entry says about a product, including the criticism, and we earn nothing when you click through to a vendor. Paid placement can affect which tools appear here and the order they appear in. Editorial policy

Key takeaways
- Hootsuite Inc. is a Canadian company in Vancouver under British Columbia law. The jurisdiction argument is real but narrower than for a US vendor, since the EU recognises Canada as adequate.
- Hootsuite paid plans start at $99 a month with no free plan; Agorapulse starts at $79 per user per month billed annually, Kontentino at EUR 49, and Metricool and Iconosquare have free plans.
- There is no one-to-one European copy. This page lists twelve tools, and they are not interchangeable: three focus on the inbox, three on planning and approval, three on cheap publishing, two on analytics and one on enterprise.
- Agorapulse (Paris) has the clearest inbox and a 30-day trial, Swat.io (Vienna) the strongest governance, and SocialHub (Ingolstadt) German hosting with ISO 27001 and WhatsApp.
- Metricool (Madrid) is the cheapest way in with a free plan and paid plans from EUR 16, and Kontentino (Bratislava) puts approvals in every paid plan.
- Three of the twelve have been acquired by larger European groups in the last two years (SocialBee by WebPros, Metricool by team.blue, Iconosquare by Positive Group), which is worth knowing before a multi-year commitment.
Why people leave Hootsuite
Hootsuite is the best-known name in social media management. It schedules posts, collects messages from every network into one inbox, and reports on what worked, for teams that range from a single marketer to a global brand. Paid plans start at $99 a month, and there is no free plan, only a 14-day trial.
It is a Canadian company, not an American one, and that matters for how you read this page.
Hootsuite Inc. is in Vancouver, its terms are governed by the law of British Columbia and disputes go to arbitration there.
The European Commission treats Canada as adequate for commercial data transfers, and Hootsuite says it relies on that adequacy for Canada and on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses for its US sub-processors. So the case for leaving is not that your data is unprotected. It is that the vendor, its owner and its courts sit outside Europe, and that the price is high if all you need is to schedule and publish.
No European tool copies Hootsuite whole. This page lists twelve that each cover part of it: three built around the inbox and governance, three around planning and approval, three for affordable publishing, two for analytics and benchmarking, and one enterprise suite that also manages paid social. Pick by the part you actually use.
- The vendor and its courts are in Canada Hootsuite Inc. contracts from Vancouver, British Columbia, under British Columbia law, with binding arbitration in Vancouver. Its privacy policy says transfers from the EEA to Canada rely on adequacy, and transfers to US sub-processors rely on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses. That is a lawful arrangement, not a loophole. It does mean a dispute, a data request or a change of ownership is handled outside the EU, which an EU contract with a European vendor avoids.
- Entry price is $99 a month, with no free plan Hootsuite lists Standard at $99 a month for up to 10 social accounts, Professional at $199 and Advanced at $399, with Enterprise on request. Approval workflows sit in Advanced. There is a 14-day trial but no permanent free tier. Several European tools here have one (Metricool, Iconosquare, Blog2Social) or start well below $99 (Iconosquare from EUR 9, Metricool from EUR 16, SocialBee from $24.20).
- Listening now comes from a Luxembourg company that Hootsuite owns Hootsuite bought Talkwalker, a Luxembourg social listening company, in 2024, and its privacy policy lists Talkwalker S.a r.l. as the provider of that service. If listening is why you chose Hootsuite, note that the technology behind it was European before the acquisition. This page does not list a European listening-only tool, because none of the twelve below replaces Talkwalker.
- The European tools each cover a different slice Nothing here is a drop-in replacement. Agorapulse, Swat.io and SocialHub are strongest on the inbox. Kontentino, Hopper HQ and ZoomSphere are built around planning and sign-off. Metricool, SocialBee and Blog2Social are cheaper publishers. Iconosquare and Fanpage Karma lead on analytics, and Facelift is an enterprise suite. Which one is a fair swap depends on which part of Hootsuite you use.
What you have to replace, not just match
Start by listing what you use Hootsuite for, because the parts separate cleanly. If it is scheduling across a handful of networks, any of Metricool, SocialBee, Kontentino or Hopper HQ will do it for less. If it is the shared inbox, look at Agorapulse, Swat.io or SocialHub first. If it is approvals for clients or a legal team, Kontentino, Swat.io and Iconosquare (Scale plan) have approval flows.
Move one brand or one network first. Hootsuite keeps your scheduled posts on its side, so export or re-create the queue before you cancel, and run both tools in parallel for a billing cycle. Analytics history does not move across tools, so export the reports you need to keep.

How each alternative compares to Hootsuite
- Which law reaches it. EU (France). Hootsuite is operated from Canada, outside the EU and without an adequacy decision, so transfers rest on contractual safeguards rather than on the data staying inside the EEA.
- Where the data sits. EU.
- Source code. Closed source, as Hootsuite is.
- Independently checked. GDPR.
Best for: Social teams that answer a lot of messages and comments, and want reporting on top
Agorapulse is run by Agorapulse SAS in Paris, with French law and the Paris Court of Appeal in its terms. We found no acquisition of Agorapulse itself in the sources we checked; the company has itself bought Mention, the monitoring tool.
Its pricing page lists Standard at $79 per user per month billed annually ($99 monthly), with Professional and Advanced above, 10 social profiles included on each, and a 30-day trial with no card. It supports eleven networks, including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest, Google Business, Threads, Bluesky and Reddit.
The price is per user, so a large team costs more than on tools that charge per brand or per workspace. A custom plan adds unlimited profiles, SSO and API access.
What Agorapulse does better than Hootsuite
- French company under EU law, where Hootsuite contracts in Vancouver
- Entry plan at $79 per user per month on annual billing, below Hootsuite Standard at $99
- A 30-day trial with no credit card, against 14 days at Hootsuite
- Eleven networks, including Bluesky and Reddit
Where Agorapulse is a step down from Hootsuite
- Priced per user, so teams of many pay more than on per-brand plans
- No Talkwalker-grade listening in the sources we checked
- Prices are in dollars even though the company is French
- No free plan, only the trial
Standout against Hootsuite. It is the one that most closely matches Hootsuite across inbox, publishing and reporting, with a longer trial.
- Which law reaches it. EU (Austria). Hootsuite is operated from Canada, outside the EU and without an adequacy decision, so transfers rest on contractual safeguards rather than on the data staying inside the EEA.
- Where the data sits. EU (Austria and Germany).
- Source code. Closed source, as Hootsuite is.
- Independently checked. GDPR.
Best for: Regulated brands, public bodies and agencies with formal approval needs
Swat.io is run by Swat.io GmbH in Vienna (Firmenbuch FN 348798 p, UID ATU 65871657). It is described as independent and bootstrapped, and we found no acquisition.
Its plans are Small (3 channels, 2 users), Medium (5 channels, 5 users, adds approval processes and campaigns) and Large (8 channels, 8 users, extended permission levels). The inbox is an add-on. The trial is 21 days without a card, and SEPA direct debit is accepted.
The pricing page does not show amounts until you start the trial, so we do not quote a figure. Earlier listings on this site gave a starting price; treat that as unverified.
What Swat.io does better than Hootsuite
- Austrian company under EU law, outside Canadian jurisdiction
- Approval processes on the Medium plan, where Hootsuite reserves them for Advanced
- A 21-day trial with no card
- SEPA direct debit as a payment method
Where Swat.io is a step down from Hootsuite
- Prices are not shown until you start a trial
- The inbox is a paid add-on
- Few channels per plan (3, 5 or 8), so many accounts mean upgrades
- Less reporting and listening depth than the analytics specialists
Standout against Hootsuite. It is the one built around approval and permission levels, from an Austrian company, with a 21-day trial.
SocialHub
German hosting, a smart inbox and WhatsApp for larger teams
Best for: Teams in DACH that want certified German hosting and an inbox across channels
SocialHub is a product of maloon GmbH in Ingolstadt (Amtsgericht Ingolstadt, HR 5203). The only outside investor we found is BayBG Venture Capital with a minority stake, and we found no acquisition.
Its pricing page lists Professional (10 channels) and Enterprise (20 channels, with a Smart Inbox, Smart Content Planner and WhatsApp), each with a minimum of three users, plus a Custom tier for 10 or more users. Servers are in Germany, and the page names ISO 27001 and C5 certification, as stated by SocialHub.
No prices are shown, so you have to request a quote. Add-ons include benchmarking, social listening, employee advocacy and review platforms.
What SocialHub does better than Hootsuite
- German company with servers in Germany, ISO 27001 and C5 as stated by the vendor
- WhatsApp support on the Enterprise plan
- Add-ons for listening, benchmarking and employee advocacy
- Supports Mastodon and Bluesky alongside the main networks
Where SocialHub is a step down from Hootsuite
- No public prices, so budgeting needs a sales call
- A minimum of three users on every plan
- No free plan or self-serve trial price listed on the page
- Built for teams, so a solo user will find it heavy
Standout against Hootsuite. It states German hosting with ISO 27001 and C5, and includes WhatsApp, which most tools here do not.
- Which law reaches it. EU (Spain). Hootsuite is operated from Canada, outside the EU and without an adequacy decision, so transfers rest on contractual safeguards rather than on the data staying inside the EEA.
- Where the data sits. EU data centres.
- Source code. Closed source, as Hootsuite is.
- Independently checked. GDPR.
Best for: Small businesses, freelancers and agencies with many small brands
Metricool is run by METRICOOL SOFTWARE, SL in Madrid (NIF B87527115, Registro Mercantil de Madrid). team.blue, a Belgian group, acquired it on 30 July 2024, with the founders staying on.
The free plan covers one brand, 20 posts a month and 30 days of analytics. Starter costs from EUR 16 for 5 brands or EUR 29 for 10 brands, with unlimited publishing. Advanced starts from EUR 43 for 15 brands and runs to EUR 130 for 50, and adds team and client management, a post approval system and report templates.
Pricing counts brands, not users, which suits agencies. The terms do not state where servers are, so confirm that if hosting matters.
What Metricool does better than Hootsuite
- A free plan, where Hootsuite has only a trial
- Starter from EUR 16 a month, a fraction of Hootsuite Standard at $99
- Priced per brand, so teams are not charged per seat
- Approval system and white-label options on higher plans
Where Metricool is a step down from Hootsuite
- Free plan has no LinkedIn or X connection and only 20 posts a month
- Server location is not stated in its terms
- Ownership is now a larger group, team.blue, not the founders alone
- Inbox and listening are lighter than Agorapulse or Hootsuite
Standout against Hootsuite. It is the only tool here that combines a usable free plan with paid tiers under EUR 20.
- Which law reaches it. EU (Slovakia). Hootsuite is operated from Canada, outside the EU and without an adequacy decision, so transfers rest on contractual safeguards rather than on the data staying inside the EEA.
- Source code. Closed source, as Hootsuite is.
- Independently checked. GDPR.
Best for: Agencies and in-house teams that need content signed off before it goes out
Kontentino is run by Kontentino s.r.o. in Bratislava (IČO 45 302 375, registered at the District Court Bratislava I, entry 62190/B), under Slovak law.
Plans are Starter at EUR 49 a month (3 users, 10 profiles), Standard at EUR 109 (10 users, 40 profiles, client approvals, Brand Hub, bulk actions) and Pro at EUR 199 (unlimited profiles, analytics, a dedicated account manager). Enterprise is on request. There is a 14-day trial with no card, and annual billing saves about a quarter.
Analytics are an add-on at about EUR 54 to 60 a month on lower plans, which raises the real price if you report on results.
What Kontentino does better than Hootsuite
- Slovak company under EU law
- Internal approvals from the Starter plan at EUR 49
- Client approval and a Brand Hub on Standard at EUR 109, below Hootsuite Professional at $199
- Prices in euros with clear per-plan limits
Where Kontentino is a step down from Hootsuite
- No free plan, only a 14-day trial
- Analytics are an add-on on lower plans
- Smaller inbox focus than Agorapulse
- User caps (3 or 10) on every self-serve plan
Standout against Hootsuite. It is the one where approvals are part of the plan from the first tier, at a published euro price.
GDPR.
Best for: Brands focused on Instagram, TikTok and LinkedIn performance
Iconosquare is run by ICONOSQUARE SAS in Limoges (RCS 480 850 346), under French law. Positive Group, a French group formerly called Sarbacane, announced its acquisition in May 2026, after an earlier 2022 acquisition by Wedia.
The free plan covers up to 2 profiles and 10 posts per profile. Paid plans start from EUR 9 a month billed yearly, Launch from EUR 33 adds automated reports and comment management, and Scale from EUR 69 adds post approval, 3 users and competitor monitoring. Custom starts from EUR 116 with white-label reporting and API access.
It supports eight networks and is strongest on analytics. A 14-day trial needs no card.
What Iconosquare does better than Hootsuite
- A free plan for two profiles
- Paid plans from EUR 9, far below Hootsuite Standard
- Analytics, competitor monitoring and automated reports in the plans
- French company with prices in euros
Where Iconosquare is a step down from Hootsuite
- Entry plans are single-user
- Approval workflows only from the Scale plan
- Ownership changed in 2026, so check the roadmap for your needs
- No Talkwalker-grade listening
Standout against Hootsuite. It pairs the deepest analytics here with a free plan and a low first paid tier.
- Which law reaches it. EU (Romania). Hootsuite is operated from Canada, outside the EU and without an adequacy decision, so transfers rest on contractual safeguards rather than on the data staying inside the EEA.
- Source code. Closed source, as Hootsuite is.
- Independently checked. GDPR.
Best for: Freelancers and small agencies that reuse evergreen content
SocialBee is run by SC SocialBee Labs SRL in Cluj-Napoca (Nr Reg Com J2017001119129), with Romanian law and the courts of Cluj. WebPros, a Luxembourg-based group, bought it on 20 August 2024.
Bootstrap costs $29 a month ($24.20 billed annually) for 5 profiles and 1 user, Accelerate $49 for 10 profiles, and Pro $99 ($82.50 annually) for 25 profiles, 3 users and 5 workspaces. Agency plans run from $149 to $374 a month annually. There is a 14-day trial and a 30-day money-back guarantee.
Extra users and workspaces cost $10 a month each, so a team can add up quickly.
What SocialBee does better than Hootsuite
- Romanian company with Romanian law and courts
- Bootstrap from $24.20 a month on annual billing, against $99 at Hootsuite
- A 30-day money-back guarantee on top of the trial
- Agency plans with many workspaces
Where SocialBee is a step down from Hootsuite
- Owned by a larger group (WebPros) since 2024
- No free plan
- Entry plans allow one user, and extra users cost $10 each
- Prices are in dollars
Standout against Hootsuite. It is the lowest-priced per-profile publisher here with agency tiers and a money-back guarantee.
- Which law reaches it. EU (Germany). Hootsuite is operated from Canada, outside the EU and without an adequacy decision, so transfers rest on contractual safeguards rather than on the data staying inside the EEA.
- Where the data sits. Germany.
- Source code. Closed source, as Hootsuite is.
- Independently checked. GDPR with German DPA.
Best for: Teams that need to compare their numbers with competitors and the wider market
Fanpage Karma is a product of uphill GmbH in Berlin (Amtsgericht Berlin, HRB 123671 B). We found no acquisition of the company.
Its menu offers Analytics, Engage, Publish, Discovery, influencer search and Monitoring, and a free trial button is on every page. Its prices are loaded by script and could not be read for this page, so we quote no figure.
It is stronger at researching profiles than at day-to-day publishing, and the interface is dense. Check the plan for the number of profiles you need before you commit.
What Fanpage Karma does better than Hootsuite
- German company under EU law with a German imprint and terms
- Research of any public profile, not only your own
- Influencer discovery and monitoring in the same product
- A free trial to test the analytics
Where Fanpage Karma is a step down from Hootsuite
- Prices could not be verified for this page
- Publishing and approvals are lighter than Kontentino or Swat.io
- A dense interface with a learning curve
- Terms are aimed at business users only
Standout against Hootsuite. It is the only tool here built around benchmarking other people's public profiles.
GDPR with German DPA terms.
Best for: Large DACH brands that run paid and organic social together
Facelift is run by Facelift brand building technologies GmbH in Hamburg (Amtsgericht Hamburg, HRB 117436). The DuMont group acquired 75 percent in December 2016, and Facelift now belongs to the DuMont-backed Entirely group, which is German.
Pricing is by offer only, and the imprint page points to a demo. Its own materials describe publishing and a calendar, an engagement inbox, paid social management, analytics and benchmarking, employee advocacy and governance, hosted in Germany.
It is built for large organisations. A small team will not find a self-serve plan or a trial price here.
What Facelift does better than Hootsuite
- German company with German hosting, owned by a German group
- Manages paid social alongside organic, which Hootsuite sells separately
- Governance and multi-brand permissions for large organisations
- Employee advocacy in the same platform
Where Facelift is a step down from Hootsuite
- No public prices and no self-serve trial
- Enterprise-only, so not for small teams
- DACH-oriented support and references
- Analytics are broad rather than specialist
Standout against Hootsuite. It is the only option here that puts paid and organic social in one governed platform.
ZoomSphere
one flat plan for large teams that plan together
Best for: Agencies and marketing teams with many users who want a workflow and calendar
ZoomSphere is operated by MicroMedia s.r.o. in Prague (IČO 27437973 per the Czech register listing), and its terms are governed by Czech law, with the service maintained from the Czech Republic.
It sells one plan at EUR 149 a month on annual billing, or EUR 179 monthly, with up to 50 users and 50 connected social accounts, a scheduler, workflow manager and notes, task management and team chat. There is a 14-day trial without a card.
One flat price with 50 users is cheap for a big team and expensive for a single user. Credits for some features are charged on a usage basis.
What ZoomSphere does better than Hootsuite
- Czech company under EU law
- One plan with up to 50 users and 50 accounts at a fixed price
- Workflow, tasks and team chat built in
- A 14-day trial without a card
Where ZoomSphere is a step down from Hootsuite
- No free plan and no cheap entry tier
- Some features are paid for in credits ($1 each)
- A smaller inbox and reporting offer than Agorapulse
- Non-refundable payments in advance
Standout against Hootsuite. It prices by plan, not by seat: up to 50 users on one flat fee.
- Which law reaches it. United Kingdom (adequacy decision, outside the EEA). Hootsuite is operated from Canada, outside the EU and without an adequacy decision, so transfers rest on contractual safeguards rather than on the data staying inside the EEA.
- Source code. Closed source, as Hootsuite is.
- Independently checked. GDPR.
Best for: Instagram- and TikTok-led brands that plan how the grid looks
Hopper HQ is run by Hopper HQ Limited in Birmingham, in the United Kingdom, which is outside the EEA but under UK GDPR and an EU adequacy decision. We found no acquisition or outside investor.
It has two plans, Grow (1 user) and Scale (unlimited users, team permissions and approvals). Both include a visual planner, a calendar, unlimited posts, an AI assistant and a link-in-bio page. The price depends on how many accounts you connect and is shown only after you choose, so we quote no figure. There is a 14-day trial.
It covers Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X, Pinterest, LinkedIn, YouTube Shorts, Bluesky and Threads.
What Hopper HQ does better than Hootsuite
- UK company, outside Canadian jurisdiction
- Visual grid planner for image-led accounts
- Unlimited posts on every plan
- Link-in-bio and hashtag tools included
Where Hopper HQ is a step down from Hootsuite
- UK, not EU: it relies on an adequacy decision
- Prices are shown only after you pick accounts
- Thin inbox and analytics against Agorapulse or Hootsuite
- Approvals only on the Scale plan
Standout against Hootsuite. It is the visual-first planner here, the one to pick if the look of the grid is the job.
Blog2Social
sharing blog posts to social networks, as a plugin or web app
Best for: Bloggers and small publishers who want to push posts to many networks
Blog2Social is a product of ADENION GmbH in Grevenbroich (Amtsgericht Mönchengladbach, HRB 8141), a German company. We did not check Adenion's ownership separately.
It comes as a WordPress plugin with a free plan (12 networks, one account per network) and Smart, Pro and Business tiers, and as a web app with a free plan, Solo and Team ($39 a month, 3 users). The page lists networks and accounts per tier, and adds team management on Business.
It is a sharing and scheduling tool for content you publish. It has no unified inbox and lighter analytics, so it replaces only part of Hootsuite.
What Blog2Social does better than Hootsuite
- German company under EU law
- A free plan in both the plugin and the web app
- Many networks and accounts per user on paid tiers
- Works inside WordPress, where many blogs already live
Where Blog2Social is a step down from Hootsuite
- No unified inbox for messages and comments
- Analytics are light compared with Iconosquare
- X (Twitter) is a paid add-on, from $14.99 a month
- Built for publishing content, not for community management
Standout against Hootsuite. It is the only plugin here that lives inside WordPress, with a free plan on both versions.
What actually breaks when you switch
The hard part of leaving Hootsuite is the queue, not the accounts. Scheduled posts, saved replies and approval flows do not move between tools, so re-create them in the new tool and keep both running for one billing cycle.
Analytics history stays behind. Export the reports you need before you cancel, because a new tool starts counting from the day you connect an account.
Giving any tool access to your social accounts means an OAuth grant per network. Reconnect them in the new tool, then revoke Hootsuite's access in each network's settings.
Is there a European tool that works exactly like Hootsuite?
Not that we could verify. Hootsuite combines publishing, a unified inbox, reporting, approvals and, through Talkwalker, social listening. The closest in breadth are Agorapulse and Swat.io, which cover publishing, inbox and reporting but not listening at Talkwalker depth, and Facelift, which adds paid social but is sold to enterprises only.
The others cover a slice: Kontentino and Hopper HQ plan and approve, Metricool, SocialBee and Blog2Social publish cheaply, Iconosquare and Fanpage Karma focus on analytics. Every entry says which slice.
If Hootsuite is Canadian, why look for a European alternative?
Three practical reasons. The contracting entity, its owner and its courts are outside the EU, so a dispute goes to arbitration in Vancouver under British Columbia law. Some procurement rules, especially in the public sector, prefer a vendor established in the EU. And the price is high for teams that only schedule and publish.
Data protection is not the argument. Hootsuite says it relies on EU adequacy for Canada and on the Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses for US sub-processors. If you only need lawful transfers, Hootsuite can meet that. If you want a European contract partner, this page is for you.
Which of these has an inbox comparable to Hootsuite?
Agorapulse is the best fit by its own description: one inbox for messages and comments with assignment and saved replies, and a 30-day trial with no card. Swat.io offers an inbox as an add-on and positions it for team workflows. SocialHub has a Smart Inbox on its Enterprise plan and adds WhatsApp.
Metricool, SocialBee, ZoomSphere and Hopper HQ are planners first. Iconosquare lists comment management from its Launch plan. Check the inbox in a trial before you commit, because "inbox" covers a wide range.
What does leaving Hootsuite cost in practice?
Mostly time. You re-connect every social account, re-create queued posts and rebuild saved replies and approval flows. Hootsuite analytics history stays in Hootsuite, so export what you need first. Most of the tools here have a 14-day trial (Agorapulse 30 days, Swat.io 21 days), which is long enough to test one real week of work.
Budget differs a lot. A team that pays $199 a month for Hootsuite Professional can run Kontentino Standard at EUR 109, but a single user with a few accounts may be fine on a free plan.
Which one to pick
If the inbox is what you use most, start with Agorapulse, then Swat.io or SocialHub. If you need sign-off from clients or legal, Kontentino and Swat.io are built for it, and Iconosquare adds it from its Scale plan.
If you only schedule and publish, Metricool, SocialBee and Blog2Social do the job for much less than $99 a month, and Metricool and Blog2Social have free plans. Iconosquare and Fanpage Karma are the ones to choose when analytics and benchmarking are the point.
Large DACH brands that run paid and organic social together should look at Facelift, and teams that need many users on one flat fee at ZoomSphere. Hopper HQ suits image-led accounts.
Be realistic about the gap. Hootsuite is broad and mature, and none of these twelve matches all of it, least of all Talkwalker-style listening. Move if a European contract partner, a lower price or a specific strength matters more to you than breadth.
Frequently Asked Questions
It depends on what you use. Agorapulse is the closest all-round answer if the inbox matters, Swat.io if you need governance and approval, and SocialHub if German hosting and WhatsApp matter. Metricool is the cheapest way in, with a free plan, and Kontentino is the clearest choice for client approvals. None of them copies Hootsuite whole.
No. Hootsuite Inc. is based in Vancouver, British Columbia. Its terms are governed by the law of British Columbia and disputes go to arbitration in Vancouver. Hootsuite also owns Talkwalker, a Luxembourg social listening company.
Hootsuite says it relies on the EU adequacy decision for transfers to Canada and on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses for transfers to US service providers. That is a recognised route. Whether it is enough for you depends on your own risk assessment and procurement rules.
Hootsuite lists Standard at $99 a month, Professional at $199 and Advanced at $399, with Enterprise on request. Standard covers up to 10 social accounts. There is a 14-day free trial and no permanent free plan.
Metricool has a free plan with one brand, 20 posts a month and 30 days of analytics. Iconosquare has a free plan for up to 2 profiles with 10 posts per profile, and Blog2Social has a free WordPress plugin and a free web-app plan. All the free plans are limited, and Metricool and Iconosquare are the more complete of the three.
Agorapulse Standard is $79 per user per month billed annually or $99 billed monthly, with 10 social profiles included and a 30-day trial. Kontentino starts at EUR 49 a month for 3 users and 10 profiles, then EUR 109 and EUR 199, with a 14-day trial and no card.
Kontentino is built around client approval flows and its Pro plan adds a dedicated account manager. SocialBee has agency plans from $149 a month with multiple workspaces. Metricool Advanced manages up to 50 brands with team and client management, and ZoomSphere allows up to 50 users and 50 accounts on one plan.
SocialHub states that its servers are in Germany and that it holds ISO 27001 and C5 certifications. Swat.io is an Austrian company, and Facelift is a German company with German hosting according to its own materials. Metricool does not state a server location in its terms, so ask before you assume.
Not all. SocialBee has been owned by WebPros since August 2024, Metricool by team.blue since July 2024, and Iconosquare by Positive Group since May 2026. Facelift belongs to the DuMont group. Agorapulse, Swat.io and Hopper HQ show no acquisition in the sources we checked. All owners named here are European.
We left them out after checking their legal terms. NapoleonCat names NapoleonCat, Inc. in New York with South Carolina law, Sendible was bought in October 2025 by a Constellation Software company from Toronto, and Publer states it is incorporated in Wyoming. Every tool here must have a European contracting entity and a European owner.
Not automatically, in the sources we checked. Plan to re-create queued posts and export any reports you need before you cancel. Run both tools for one billing cycle so no scheduled post is lost.
