Sage X3

Sage traces back to Newcastle upon Tyne in 1981, and is now a FTSE 100 company with Sage (UK) Ltd as its UK operating entity — by far the largest and longest-established vendor added to this category, and one with a name most finance and IT buyers already recognise.

Sage X3, the product that actually competes with NetSuite and Dynamics 365 here, is aimed at mid-market manufacturers and distributors that operate across several countries: it natively handles multiple legislations, languages and currencies across more than 60 countries, sold as preconfigured Financials, Distribution and Manufacturing bundles.

That scale is also where it differs from the smaller, more sharply focused vendors elsewhere in this list.

Sage is a UK company under a UK adequacy decision rather than an EU one, so it sits with the other adequacy-decision names on this site rather than with the EU-jurisdiction majority here. Hosting for Sage X3 runs through AWS or Microsoft Azure, with the region chosen at implementation rather than fixed by the vendor, and Sage itself says only AWS is fully validated for X3, with Azure left to partners.

Pricing is entirely on request and runs through a certified implementation partner rather than Sage directly, with no published rate card and no self-service trial — a company evaluating it should expect a sales process closer to IFS's than to Wapro's.

The upside of the scale is a partner and support network few names here can match; the trade-off is that X3 is one product inside a much larger group whose other lines, such as Sage Intacct, are run from outside Europe.

Standout feature. The biggest name added here — useful reach and partners, at the cost of the sharper focus smaller vendors offer.
