It continues nlsociaal.nl, which he started in 2018, and was relaunched under the new name on 13 August 2025 with all accounts migrated. Technically it is an installation of the open-source OSSN platform with custom components added.
The pitch is a Facebook-style experience (timeline, groups, blogs, videos, files, business pages) without the engagement algorithm: the timeline is chronological and the privacy statement says there are no tracking cookies, only functional ones, with hosting in a Dutch data centre and no external cloud parties. Income and expenses are said to be visible to members, and the Terms mention sponsorship and a small advertising widget instead of personalised ads.
