Detailed Review
Finanzguru is built by dwins GmbH in Frankfurt, which holds a BaFin licence for account information services granted on 15 May 2019 (stated in the imprint). The app connects bank accounts, sorts transactions into categories and shows fixed costs, contracts and spending in one place.
The product leans on automation more than manual budgeting. It detects contracts from bookings, reminds you of cancellation deadlines and can send cancellations on request, and a newer AI companion answers questions about your own transactions in plain language.
Contracts, Budgets and Forecast
Contract detection builds a folder of recurring payments from bank bookings. The contract alarm tracks notice periods, and the app can cancel a contract on the user's behalf. Budgets monitor spending per category or set money aside for irregular costs.
In the Plus subscription the forecast shows expected bookings from contracts and the balance of tomorrow or next week. Collections bundle bookings for a holiday or project independent of period and account, and full booking history plus Excel export are included.
AI Companion
The AI companion answers questions such as how much is spent on streaming or where savings are possible, based on the connected bookings. Finanzguru says answers are built from actual transactions by category and month.
Data Protection
Data is stored encrypted in a German data centre, according to the security page, and the app is locked with biometrics or a PIN. An account and all stored data can be deleted in the app, and accounts unused for 12 months are deleted automatically. The privacy policy names a data protection officer at Kertos GmbH in Munich.
Limitations to Consider
The free version shows only the last three months of bookings and has no budgets, statistics or forecast; those need Finanzguru Plus, which the help centre prices at EUR 0.99 per week regularly (prices are tested and can differ).
The app also promotes an insurance service and a shopping savings feature (Sparbooster), so it carries commercial offers next to the budgeting tools. The website and help centre are in German and the app is mobile only; for a web and app combination see Finanzblick.
Who Should Use Finanzguru
