Detailed Review
MoneyMoney is made by MRH applications GmbH in Düsseldorf (Handelsregister Amtsgericht Düsseldorf HRB 108224), which is supervised by BaFin as an account information service institution. The software runs on macOS only.
The vendor says MoneyMoney saves access data and transactions in an encrypted database on the hard disk. Data goes directly between the Mac and the bank through FinTS/HBCI, bank APIs or web scraping, without an intermediary service.
Categories, Budgets and Dashboards
Categorisation rules sort transactions automatically, and split bookings divide one amount across categories. Budgets are set for single categories or category groups, and charts switch between month, quarter and year views.
Transactions can be searched live, marked as done, and exported to Excel, Numbers, CSV, OFX, CAMT or MT940. Import supports CSV, QIF, OFX, QFX, CAMT and MT940.
Bank Coverage
MoneyMoney lists support for more than 6,500 banks across Europe, measured by bank codes, and shows current accounts, savings, credit cards, depots, loans, foreign currency, PayPal and cash accounts. Electronic statements can be retrieved as PDF.
For banks that only allow PSD2 access, an optional PSD2 online service reads transactions through MoneyMoney's own infrastructure for EUR 39.99 per year, with a 30-day trial. It allows transaction retrieval but no transfers.
Payments
Supported payments include transfers, real-time and scheduled transfers, standing orders, bulk transfers and foreign transfers. Direct debits are an in-app purchase at EUR 49.99.
Limitations to Consider
MoneyMoney runs on macOS only, and the product pages describe no mobile app or web version. The licence price sits behind a page with a bot check that could not be read, so check the price on the website. Banks reachable only through PSD2 need the paid online service and allow retrieval only. Budgets are category budgets inside a banking client, not a plan-ahead method. For a Windows and Mac option see Banking4.
Who Should Use MoneyMoney
Mac users in Europe who want local data storage, bank retrieval and category budgets in one desktop application.
