European Alternatives to Manhattan Associates, Blue Yonder, Oracle NetSuite WMS and Extensiv - Warehouse Management (2026) | European Purpose

European Warehouse Management Alternatives

A warehouse management system tells a warehouse where every item is, what to pick next and what to ship, and for most companies it is the system that sits closest to the physical business.

The American market is led by Manhattan Associates, Blue Yonder and Oracle, but Europe has a deep bench of its own.

This list covers webshop-sized WMS from the Netherlands, Sweden and Germany with published prices, enterprise WMS from France, Germany, Spain, Austria and Switzerland that is sold by quote, and a British cloud WMS. Each entry says where the company is registered, what the vendor publishes about price and hosting, and where the vendor does not say.

How we rank these tools — 4-step process
  1. 1
    European ownership, verified

The company is headquartered and incorporated in the EU, EEA or Switzerland, and processes customer data in Europe. A US parent company disqualifies a tool from this page regardless of where its servers are.

  2. 2
    Category fit and hands-on review

What the tool actually does, who it suits, and where it falls short — checked against the vendor’s own documentation, changelog and pricing page rather than its marketing copy.

  3. 3
    Compliance and pricing check

GDPR posture, hosting location and the prices quoted on this page are verified against the vendor’s public pricing before publication, and re-checked when we revisit the category.

  4. 4
    Position on this page

Placement on this page can be paid, and that can affect the order tools appear in. It never buys a listing: a tool that fails the checks above is not here at any price, and payment does not change the shortcomings we write about. A vendor can ask us to correct a factual error — not to remove a criticism.

Vendors can pay for visibility on this page. It never changes what an entry says about a product, including the criticism, and we earn nothing when you click through to a vendor. Paid placement can affect the order in which tools appear; it never affects whether a tool is listed. Editorial policy

Key takeaways

  • Picqer ranks #1 among the European WMS in this directory, because it is the only one that publishes a full price list per order volume, includes unlimited users and states that it has no external investors and runs its application inside the EEA.
  • Four of the twelve publish prices: Picqer from EUR 379 per month, Ongoing WMS from EUR 1,299 per month with five users, JTL-WMS from EUR 0, and Pickware from EUR 99 per month plus EUR 199 per WMS device. The other eight sell by quote, which is normal for enterprise WMS.
  • Ten of the twelve are EU companies (Netherlands 2, Germany 3, France 2, Sweden, Spain and Austria). Kardex is Swiss and SnapFulfil's Synergy Logistics Limited is British, so neither is covered by the EU's rules directly.
  • Two vendors name American infrastructure: Pickware's privacy policy names Heroku from Salesforce in the United States as a hosting service, and Hardis Supply Chain says its SaaS has run on Google Cloud Platform since 2023.
  • Four vendors tie their WMS to warehouse automation hardware: Mecalux, KNAPP and Kardex are intralogistics groups, and JTL-WMS Enterprise supports AutoStore. For those, the WMS is part of a project, not a self-service subscription.
  • A WMS rarely states its data location the way a web app does. Only Picqer and Ongoing WMS describe a data region for their service, Hardis names its cloud provider but not a region, and for most enterprise vendors the location depends on the contract.

A European warehouse management system (WMS) is software that controls stock locations, goods receipt, picking, packing and dispatch in a warehouse, sold by a company registered in Europe rather than in the United States. The market splits in two.

Picqer, Ongoing WMS, JTL-WMS and Pickware publish prices and suit webshops and fulfilment companies, while Boltrics, Hardis Supply Chain, Generix, Mecalux, PSI, KNAPP and Kardex sell by quote to larger and more automated sites. SnapFulfil is a British cloud WMS. This directory lists twelve and states, for each, where the company is registered, what it charges and what it says about hosting.

What does a warehouse management system do that an ERP does not?

An ERP knows how many units of a product you own. A WMS knows where each one is, which pallet or bin it sits on, which order it belongs to and which worker should pick it next. It directs receiving, putaway, replenishment, picking, packing and dispatch, usually through barcode scanners or a mobile app.

Small online shops often start with stock control inside a merchandise management system such as JTL-Wawi, and add a WMS when mispicks, slow picking or several pack tables become the problem. JTL says its ERP editions already include a simple stock control and that the dedicated WMS editions add the professional functions.

Larger sites run a WMS next to an ERP such as SAP or Dynamics. PSIwms lists standard interfaces to SAP and Navision, and Boltrics builds on the Microsoft Dynamics platform. The usual split is that the ERP owns the money and the WMS owns the physical flow.

Which European WMS fits which kind of warehouse?

For a webshop shipping from its own stock, Picqer, JTL-WMS and Pickware are the three built for the job. Picqer prices by order volume and includes unlimited users, JTL-WMS has a free Start edition, and Pickware licenses its WMS app per device on top of a plan that includes 1,000 to 2,000 orders a month.

For a third-party logistics provider that bills clients, Ongoing WMS gives clients free logins to track their own stock, and Picqer offers a separate Fulfilment edition. Boltrics describes stock handling for third parties together with customs and value-added logistics modules, and Hardis lists a 3PL customer portal.

For a large distribution centre or an automated warehouse, Mecalux Easy WMS, KNAPP KiSoft WMS, Kardex Control Center, PSIwms and Hardis Supply Chain are the enterprise options. Mecalux and KNAPP say their software handles everything from manual operations to fully automated sites. These are projects with an implementation partner, so budget for the integration, not just the licence.

How is WMS priced, and what do the published prices cover?

Four different models appear. Picqer charges by monthly order volume and includes all users. Ongoing WMS charges a platform fee that includes five users and a stepped price for extra users, with all modules and API access included. Pickware charges a plan fee plus a per-device WMS licence. JTL-WMS charges per edition, includes one user and bills extra users at EUR 119 per month each from Advanced.

The enterprise vendors publish nothing. Their pages describe editions, as PSI does with GO, FLEX and PRO, or deployment options, but a price comes only after a requirements workshop. That is normal for projects that include integration with material-handling equipment, but it means comparison shopping needs a request for quotation.

Watch what is not in the price. Pickware states hardware is bought separately. Ongoing WMS bills professional services at an hourly rate. JTL states its prices are net. Picqer's pricing page does not say whether prices exclude VAT.

What should a European buyer check about data and hosting?

Start with the contracting entity, which is the company whose terms you sign. Every vendor here has one that was verified in an imprint or register, from Ongoing Warehouse AB in Gothenburg to PSI Software SE in Berlin. Then read the privacy policy for sub-processors, because a European vendor can still run on an American cloud.

Two vendors say so. Pickware names Heroku, a Salesforce service in the United States, as a hosting service. Hardis Supply Chain says its SaaS runs on Google Cloud Platform. Both providers operate European regions, but the pages read do not say which region is used.

Picqer and Ongoing WMS are the most specific. Picqer says the application and stored data stay in the EEA. Ongoing says application data is primarily in an EU cloud service and in Sweden, with backups in Sweden and a secondary backup at an EU provider. For the rest, ask for the hosting region in writing.

Where do WMS projects go wrong?

The first failure is buying for automation you do not have. A WMS built for stacker cranes and shuttles carries implementation weight a 20-order-a-day shop does not need, and a webshop WMS will not run an automated pallet store.

The second is ignoring integrations. Picqer connects to Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento and the Dutch marketplace Bol, Pickware focuses on Shopware and Shopify, and JTL-WMS sits inside the JTL product family. If your shop platform or ERP is not on the vendor's list, you pay for custom work.

The third is picking on price alone. A EUR 99 plan and a EUR 1,299 platform fee buy different things: one is an ERP with a WMS add-on, the other is a dedicated WMS for 3PLs. Match the vendor to your order volume, number of pickers and number of warehouses before comparing numbers.

How we selected and ranked these 12 tools

Every tool on this page is in the European Purpose directory, which means the operating company is established in Europe and we have verified that from the company register or the vendor's own legal notice rather than from a marketing page. Tools headquartered outside Europe are not eligible, however good they are.

  1. Feature verification (weight: 40%). We check each capability against the vendor's own documentation and product pages, and record what the tool does rather than what the category is assumed to include.
  2. Ease of adoption (weight: 30%). Integrations, published API access, trial availability and how much configuration stands between signing and a usable result.
  3. Value and transparency (weight: 30%). Published pricing counts in a vendor's favour; quote-only pricing is recorded as quote-only rather than estimated. We weigh what a buyer gets for the entry price, not the headline feature count.
  4. Editorial review. Three people touch every page: one writes it, a second edits it, and a third checks the compliance and pricing claims against the vendor's documentation. The three weights above decide the order; a position is a ranking against the other European tools in this category, not an absolute score.

Vendor-reported outcomes — ROI figures, margin uplift, time saved — are labelled as vendor claims wherever they appear on this page. We have not audited them, and neither has anyone else who quotes them. Read our full editorial process for how pages are re-verified.

Frequently asked questions

Picqer holds #1 in this directory because it publishes a full price list, includes unlimited users, runs its application in the EEA and states it has no external investors. The right answer depends on the warehouse: Ongoing WMS for 3PLs, JTL-WMS for German-speaking retailers that want a free start, Mecalux, KNAPP or Kardex for automated sites, PSIwms and Hardis Supply Chain for enterprise projects.

There are several for enterprise sites. Mecalux Easy WMS, KNAPP KiSoft WMS, PSIwms, Hardis Supply Chain WMS and Generix Solochain are sold by quote and aimed at larger warehouses. Generix says it is placed in the 2026 Gartner Magic Quadrant for WMS, Hardis Group says it was listed in the 2018 quadrant, and PSI says PSIwms is validated annually by the Fraunhofer IML.

Picqer lists EUR 379 to EUR 5,500 per month by order volume. Ongoing WMS lists EUR 1,299 per month including five users. JTL-WMS lists a free Start edition and Advanced from EUR 119 per month. Pickware lists plans from EUR 99 per month and a WMS licence at EUR 199 per device. The other eight vendors publish no price.

JTL-WMS Start is listed at EUR 0 per month for up to 500 orders per month, with community support. The other three vendors with published prices offer trials: 14 days at Picqer and 30 days at Pickware with no credit card. Ongoing WMS publishes no trial on its pricing page.

Picqer, JTL-WMS and Pickware. Picqer starts at EUR 379 per month and suits shops from about 25 orders a day. JTL-WMS can start free, which is the lowest barrier here. Pickware starts at EUR 99 per month and adds the WMS app at EUR 199 per device. Choose by shop platform: Pickware is strongest on Shopware and Shopify, Picqer on the Dutch market with Bol.

Ongoing WMS is built for 3PLs and in-house warehouses, with free client logins and all modules in the subscription. Picqer offers a Fulfilment edition from EUR 825 per month, Boltrics describes stock handling for third parties with customs and value-added logistics modules, and Hardis lists a 3PL customer portal. Ask each vendor how client billing works.

Two name it. Pickware's privacy policy names Heroku, a Salesforce service in the United States, as a hosting service. Hardis Supply Chain says its SaaS has run on Google Cloud Platform since 2023. Neither page states the region used. Picqer states that its application and data stay within the EEA, and Ongoing WMS names EU and Swedish storage.

Geographically yes, legally they are outside the EU. Kardex is a Swiss group whose imprint names Kardex Holding AG in Zurich, and Switzerland is not an EU member. SnapFulfil is sold by Synergy Logistics Limited of Castle Donington in England, incorporated in 1972, and the UK left the EU. Both are listed last for that reason.

Mecalux Easy WMS can be deployed in the cloud or on the client's infrastructure, and Kardex Control Center can be hosted partially or entirely in the cloud. PSIwms offers private or public cloud hosting. The other vendors describe cloud delivery, and none of their pages read here offer a self-hosted option.
