European PC Game Stores

PC game stores sell downloadable games and game keys for Windows, Mac and Linux, and some add their own launcher, wishlist and community. A European store matters because the contract, the purchase history and the account data then sit with a company in Poland, France, Sweden, the Netherlands, Estonia, Italy, Lithuania or the UK instead of a US publisher-platform.

How we rank these tools — 4-step process
  1. 1
    European ownership, verified

The company is headquartered and incorporated in the EU, EEA, the UK, Switzerland or Israel, and processes customer data in Europe or Israel. A US parent company disqualifies a tool from this page regardless of where its servers are.

  2. 2
    Category fit and hands-on review

What the tool actually does, who it suits, and where it falls short — checked against the vendor’s own documentation, changelog and pricing page rather than its marketing copy.

  3. 3
    Compliance and pricing check

GDPR posture, hosting location and the prices quoted on this page are verified against the vendor’s public pricing before publication, and re-checked when we revisit the category.

  4. 4
    Position on this page

Placement on this page can be paid, and that can affect the order tools appear in. It never buys a listing: a tool that fails the checks above is not here at any price, and payment does not change the shortcomings we write about. A vendor can ask us to correct a factual error — not to remove a criticism.

Vendors can pay for visibility on this page. It never changes what an entry says about a product, including the criticism, and we earn nothing when you click through to a vendor. Vendors can pay for more visibility, higher up on the review pages; it never affects whether a tool is listed. Editorial policy

European PC game stores are online shops that sell downloadable games or game keys for Windows, Mac and Linux from a contracting company in Poland, France, Sweden, the Netherlands, Estonia, Italy, Lithuania or the UK, so that the purchase contract, the invoice and the buyer's account data sit in Europe and not with a US platform.

#1 GOG

Not shown on the pages we read, Poland Priced per game, with a currency switch between EUR and USD in the footer. No prices appear in the page text we read, see website. Demo on request

  • Replaces. Steam

GOG is a PC game store from GOG sp. z o.o. whose page title describes the catalogue as DRM-free. A purchase gives you an installer, and the GOG Galaxy client for Windows and Mac is presented as optional, so the launcher is a convenience and not the door to your games.

GOG sp. z o.o. appears in the footer copyright line, and the company form points to Poland. The street address, register number and hosting location did not show in the text we read. Older titles get a Preservation Program and a Classics Vault, and community features include a Dreamlist wishlist, forums and GOG Patrons.

Gamesplanet is a key shop run by Metaboli SAS in Paris, with separate storefronts for the United Kingdom, Germany, France and the United States. Its Activation menu names ArenaNet, Epic Giants, GOG, Microsoft Store, Rockstar Social Club, Steam, Ubisoft Connect and Zenimax, so a purchase lands in whichever library the key targets.

The legal terms print a SIRET number, a VAT number and the Paris RCS registration, and they name two executives. The UK page shows Football Manager 27 at 49.99 GBP, cut 15% to 42.49 GBP, while the German and French pages show euro prices such as 26,99 EUR. Games for Mac and Games for Linux lists sit in the menu.

The footer copyright line runs from 2004 to 2026, which is the only start year the pages give for a store here. Sales lists show each price beside its percentage reduction.

The terms of use forbid proxy, VPN or other tools for reaching the shop from another region, and they name the laws and courts of the State of New York, even though the operator is Swedish. The interface comes in five languages (English, German, Portuguese, Swedish, Spanish). A help center and a refund policy are linked in the footer.

Around the key purchase the shop offers Green Gift for gifting, a wallet, bundles, hot deals, XP offers and a Green Room section, in ten interface languages. It also describes an indie publishing arm and a distribution service for studios. The claim to be the largest retailer is the vendor's own, and the text we read lists no reliable prices.

K4G is a marketplace run by K4G LTD, incorporated in England and Wales under number 13138568 and acting through a branch in Nicosia. The terms use Cyprus law and local courts. K4G describes itself as a commercial agent, so the seller on an offer is not always K4G itself.

How do I choose between a DRM-free store and a key store for PC games?

Pick by what you want to hold afterwards. GOG sells DRM-free installers that you keep as files, and its GOG Galaxy client for Windows and Mac is optional. FireFlower Games also sells DRM-free downloads, for Linux, Mac and Windows, from a small curated list.

Key stores such as Gamesplanet, GamersGate, Voidu and DLGamer sell a code that you redeem on another platform. The game then lives in that platform's library, and the key shop is only the seller. Choose a key store when price and a European invoice matter more than owning the file.

Which European PC game stores show euro prices?

FireFlower Games, AllYouPlay, GameBillet, DLGamer and Eneba show euro prices in the pages we read. FireFlower Games states that its prices include VAT, and GameBillet says its prices include VAT where applicable. Gamesplanet offers German and French storefronts in euro next to a UK storefront in pounds.

GOG offers a currency switch between EUR and USD in its footer but showed no game prices in the text we read. GamersGate showed a price in pounds on its UK storefront. Voidu has a currency selector led by EUR, and IndieGala and Green Man Gaming showed no reliable prices in the text we read.

Are European PC game stores subject to GDPR and EU consumer law?

Stores whose operator is an EU company fall under the GDPR: GOG (Poland), Gamesplanet and DLGamer (France), GamersGate (Sweden), AllYouPlay and Voidu (Netherlands), GameBillet (Estonia), IndieGala (Italy) and Eneba (Lithuania). Green Man Gaming and K4G are UK companies, and the UK has an adequacy decision but is outside the EEA.

The governing law in the terms is a separate question. AllYouPlay and Voidu choose Dutch law, DLGamer the French Consumer Code and K4G the laws of Cyprus, while GamersGate and GameBillet choose New York law. Read that clause before buying if a dispute with the seller would matter to you.

Can I move my Steam library to a European game store?

No page we read describes a transfer from Steam to any store in this list. A game bought on Steam stays in that Steam account, and a switch is therefore a decision about future purchases only.

The cleanest exit is DRM-free: GOG and FireFlower Games hand you files. A key bought from Voidu, IndieGala, DLGamer or Gamesplanet is redeemed in a client, often Steam itself, so the European store changes the seller and the contract but not the library.

Which stores are marketplaces with several sellers?

Eneba and K4G both list several offers per product. Eneba shows View offers on product cards and filters keys by region, and K4G describes itself as a commercial agent whose seller is not always K4G itself.

Buyer protection on those two depends on the terms and on the seller, and K4G also sells accounts and in-game items next to games. A single-operator shop such as Gamesplanet or GamersGate gives one named counterparty for the whole purchase.

When should I stay on Steam instead of switching?

Stay when the community, the workshop, the market or Steam Deck hardware matter to you, because no store in this ranking matches that set. GOG offers a Dreamlist wishlist, forums and Patrons, and IndieGala offers giveaways, trades and a forum, but none of them reproduces the Steam community.

A mixed approach is common: keep Steam for what you own and buy DRM-free or discounted keys from a European shop. The Steam privacy policy says Valve complies with the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, which some buyers accept and others do not.

How we selected and ranked these 12 tools

Every tool on this page is in the European Purpose directory, which means the operating company is established in Europe and we have verified that from the company register or the vendor's own legal notice rather than from a marketing page. Tools headquartered outside Europe are not eligible, however good they are.

  1. Feature verification (weight: 40%). We check each capability against the vendor's own documentation and product pages, and record what the tool does rather than what the category is assumed to include.
  2. Ease of adoption (weight: 30%). Integrations, published API access, trial availability and how much configuration stands between signing and a usable result.
  3. Value and transparency (weight: 30%). Published pricing counts in a vendor's favour; quote-only pricing is recorded as quote-only rather than estimated. We weigh what a buyer gets for the entry price, not the headline feature count.
  4. Editorial review. Every page is researched and drafted with AI assistance, and the compliance and pricing claims are checked against the vendor's documentation before it is published under the founder's editorial responsibility. The three weights above decide the order; a position is a ranking against the other European tools in this category, not an absolute score.

Vendor-reported outcomes — ROI figures, margin uplift, time saved — are labelled as vendor claims wherever they appear on this page. We have not audited them, and neither has anyone else who quotes them. Read our full editorial process for how pages are re-verified.

Frequently asked questions

The best choice depends on the criterion. GOG is the strongest on DRM-free ownership with an optional client, Gamesplanet and GamersGate print the most company detail among key shops, and GameBillet shows the lowest single prices in the text we read. FireFlower Games suits small curated indie titles, and Eneba suits buyers who compare seller offers.

GOG states in its page title that its catalogue is DRM-free, and FireFlower Games states that its downloads are DRM-free for Linux, Mac and Windows. The other stores in this ranking mostly sell keys that activate on Steam, Epic, Xbox or similar platforms.

GameBillet lists 12 is Better Than 6 at 0.70 EUR after a 90% reduction, and GamersGate showed a title at 5.00 GBP, down 75% from 19.99 GBP. K4G highlights a Top Games Only 3 EUR collection. These are single listings from 4 November 2026, so compare the exact title before buying.

GamersGate forbids VPN, proxy or similar tools for access from another region in its terms of use. GameBillet says buyers never need a VPN and lists activation exceptions on each game page. Eneba filters keys by region, so a key can be tied to a country such as the Netherlands.

GOG offers GOG Galaxy for Windows and Mac and calls it optional, and IndieGala offers GalaClient. The other stores in this ranking sell keys or plain downloads. No store here has a community as broad as the Steam one.

Green Man Gaming Limited in London and K4G LTD, which acts through a branch in Nicosia, are UK companies. The UK is covered by an adequacy decision but sits outside the EEA, so their entries carry that caveat.
