European Freight Marketplaces

Freight marketplaces match shippers, forwarders and carriers with loads and truck capacity, and some add brokerage, price comparison or booking on top. A European option matters because the contracting entity, the contracts with carriers and the load and customer data then sit with a company in the EU, UK or Switzerland, under the law of those countries.

How we rank these tools — 4-step process
  1. 1
    European ownership, verified

The company is headquartered and incorporated in the EU, EEA, the UK, Switzerland or Israel, and processes customer data in Europe or Israel. A US parent company disqualifies a tool from this page regardless of where its servers are.

  2. 2
    Category fit and hands-on review

What the tool actually does, who it suits, and where it falls short — checked against the vendor’s own documentation, changelog and pricing page rather than its marketing copy.

  3. 3
    Compliance and pricing check

GDPR posture, hosting location and the prices quoted on this page are verified against the vendor’s public pricing before publication, and re-checked when we revisit the category.

  4. 4
    Position on this page

Placement on this page can be paid, and that can affect the order tools appear in. It never buys a listing: a tool that fails the checks above is not here at any price, and payment does not change the shortcomings we write about. A vendor can ask us to correct a factual error — not to remove a criticism.

Vendors can pay for visibility on this page. It never changes what an entry says about a product, including the criticism, and we earn nothing when you click through to a vendor. Vendors can pay for more visibility, higher up on the review pages; it never affects whether a tool is listed. Editorial policy

  • Upply names Microsoft Azure in Dublin as its host, which is the most specific hosting statement among these twelve vendors.

European freight marketplaces are online exchanges, forwarders and price-comparison services, run by companies established in Europe, where shippers, forwarders and hauliers find loads, trucks or quotes under European contracts and data protection law instead of those of a US broker.

The Private Freight Exchange page states 'start from 240 EUR net per month'. The three dated price lists we saw show validity periods that had ended by 5 November 2026. Demo on request

Best for: Carriers and forwarders in Central and Eastern Europe that want a large load exchange with published price lists

Trans.eu is a freight exchange run by Trans.eu Group S.A. in Wroclaw, Poland, entered in the Polish court register under KRS 0000720763. The German imprint also names Trans.eu GmbH in Berlin as a service provider for the German pages. Trans.eu is the only vendor in this list that publishes price lists per product, with a Private Freight Exchange start price of 240 EUR net per month. The dated lists had expired by 5 November 2026, and an API integration is listed in the navigation.

#2 TIMOCOM

Erkrath (headquarters Dusseldorf), Germany Live Shipment Tracking is free within the TIMOCOM Marketplace (vendor statement); marketplace fees not published on the pages reviewed Demo on request

Best for: Shippers and carriers already booking road freight through the TIMOCOM marketplace

  • Operating company. TIMOCOM GmbH
  • Jurisdiction. EU (Germany)
  • Where the data sits. Not stated on the pages reviewed
  • Source code. Closed source
  • Replaces. Road shipment tracking from project44

TIMOCOM GmbH runs a European freight exchange from Erkrath, with the legal notice naming Dusseldorf as corporate headquarters. The tool is best known here for Live Shipment Tracking, which shows position and arrival time per transport order. The vendor says the feature costs nothing extra inside its marketplace.

Carriers supply the position through telematics, GPS, the driver app or manual entry, and decide whether the customer sees the vehicle or only the arrival time. Delivery receipts and damage photos go into the same order, and an API passes the data to a TMS or ERP. The marketplace fees and the data location were not published on the pages we reviewed.

What TIMOCOM does well

  • No extra charge for tracking per vendor
  • Telematics, GPS, app or manual input
  • Carrier controls whether position or ETA is shared

  • Operating company. Chronotruck (legal form not shown in the text we read)

  • Replaces. Uber Freight

  • Ocean rates from 25+ liners (vendor figure)
  • Free trial and free account offered

Standout feature. cargo.one is the one tool here that books air cargo with named airlines.

What is the difference between a freight exchange, a forwarder and a price comparison?

A freight exchange lists loads and trucks and leaves the contract to the two parties. Trans.eu, TIMOCOM, Cargopedia, Haulage Exchange, Wtransnet and Teleroute work this way, so the platform sells access, verification and tools but does not move the freight or guarantee the price.

A forwarder takes the shipment and chooses the carrier. sennder and Chronotruck do this, and the sender deals with one invoice. A comparison service such as Pamyra shows quotes from many forwarders for the same pallet and lets the sender book the cheapest or fastest.

Upply, Eurosender and cargo.one do not fit cleanly into any of the three. Upply sells price data with a freight board attached, Eurosender is a booking account for parcels through truck loads, and cargo.one is a rate system for air and ocean forwarders.

Which European freight marketplace suits a small haulier with one or two trucks?

Cargopedia is the lowest-risk way to start, because its free plan allows one user to publish and search at no cost. The plan hides the contact details of other users, so a haulier who finds a load still has to move to a paid plan before calling the shipper.

Wtransnet lists a plan for freelancers with one truck, plus a payment guarantee and a mobile app. Haulage Exchange has a package for one to five vehicles, but it is sold on 12-month terms only. None of the three published paid amounts in the text we read, so ask for them before committing.

How do freight marketplaces charge, and which prices are published?

Most vendors in this category quote prices on request. Trans.eu publishes price lists per product and states that its Private Freight Exchange starts from 240 EUR net per month, but three dated lists had passed their validity date by 5 November 2026. Cargopedia states per-use prices of 0.05 EUR for an SMS alert or a calculation after five free ones.

Eurosender shows prices from EUR 2.99 per shipment and Pamyra shows shipments from 19,00 EUR on its homepage title. Haulage Exchange, Wtransnet, Teleroute, sennder, Upply, Chronotruck and cargo.one showed no amounts in the text we read. Treat every unpublished price as a sales conversation.

Does a European freight marketplace keep shipment data under European law?

The contract does, in most cases. Trans.eu is registered in Poland, TIMOCOM in Germany, Cargopedia applies Romanian and EU law, Teleroute and Wtransnet name companies in Belgium and Spain, and Chronotruck applies French law with the Paris Commercial Court. Haulage Exchange is a British company, covered by the UK adequacy decision but outside the EEA.

Hosting is a separate question and only Upply answered it: Microsoft Azure in Dublin, per its legal notice. The other eleven did not state a hosting location on the pages we read. If data location is a hard requirement, ask each vendor in writing which region and which cloud provider hold your shipment records.

What do I lose when I leave Uber Freight for a European marketplace?

You lose the broker. Uber Freight describes itself as a licensed freight broker, and its homepage lists a TMS, managed transportation and an APIs layer around it. The exchanges here do not take the freight, so rate negotiation, counterparty checks and chasing payment return to your own staff.

Teleroute and Wtransnet soften that with ratings, a payment guarantee and, at Teleroute, debt mediation. If you want a forwarder to stay in the middle, sennder or Chronotruck keep that role. A TMS is the part none of the twelve show on the pages we read, so plan it separately.

When should a shipper not switch from a US freight broker?

Stay put if your freight runs mainly inside North America. Uber Freight describes a North American network, and none of these twelve vendors states coverage of United States lanes on the pages we read. A European exchange will not find you a truck in Texas.

Stay put also if your dispatchers depend on the broker's TMS, or if you need air and ocean capacity next to road and cannot add cargo.one for that. Switching helps most for intra-European road freight, where the lane coverage, the languages and the contract law of a European platform are an advantage.

How we selected and ranked these 12 tools

Every tool on this page is in the European Purpose directory, which means the operating company is established in Europe and we have verified that from the company register or the vendor's own legal notice rather than from a marketing page. Tools headquartered outside Europe are not eligible, however good they are.

  1. Feature verification (weight: 40%). We check each capability against the vendor's own documentation and product pages, and record what the tool does rather than what the category is assumed to include.
  2. Ease of adoption (weight: 30%). Integrations, published API access, trial availability and how much configuration stands between signing and a usable result.
  3. Value and transparency (weight: 30%). Published pricing counts in a vendor's favour; quote-only pricing is recorded as quote-only rather than estimated. We weigh what a buyer gets for the entry price, not the headline feature count.
  4. Editorial review. Every page is researched and drafted with AI assistance, and the compliance and pricing claims are checked against the vendor's documentation before it is published under the founder's editorial responsibility. The three weights above decide the order; a position is a ranking against the other European tools in this category, not an absolute score.

Vendor-reported outcomes — ROI figures, margin uplift, time saved — are labelled as vendor claims wherever they appear on this page. We have not audited them, and neither has anyone else who quotes them. Read our full editorial process for how pages are re-verified.

Frequently asked questions

There is no single answer, because the twelve vendors do different jobs. For an exchange where you find loads yourself, Trans.eu and TIMOCOM are the main German and Polish options. For a forwarder that handles the freight, sennder and Chronotruck fit. Pamyra and Eurosender suit small shipments, Upply suits price benchmarking, and cargo.one suits air and ocean forwarding.

Cargopedia offers a free plan that lets one user publish loads and trucks and search both. Other users' contact details stay hidden on that plan. Wtransnet and Haulage Exchange have no free plan in the text we read, and cargo.one lists a free trial and a free account.

No, but they belong to the same group. Wtransnet is run by Alpega Iberia, S.A.U. in Sant Cugat del Valles, and Teleroute by Alpega N.V. in Zaventem, Belgium. Ownership of Alpega is not stated on the pages we read.

cargo.one from Berlin books air freight with 75+ airlines and quotes ocean rates from 25+ liners, according to the vendor. It serves forwarders and does not cover road transport. Every other tool in this list is road-based or, in Eurosender's case, a mixed parcel and truck booking account.

Upply is the only one: its legal notice names Microsoft Azure in Dublin, Ireland, and the homepage says data is hosted in the EU. Trans.eu lists an ISO 27001 certificate but names no hosting region. The other vendors gave no location on the pages we read.
