European Camping Booking Platforms

Camping booking platforms list campsites, pitches, cabins and glamping spots, and let campers search, compare and in many cases pay online. A European option matters because the account, booking history and payment details then sit with a company in France, Germany, the Netherlands or the UK instead of a US operator.

How we rank these tools — 4-step process
  1. 1
    European ownership, verified

The company is headquartered and incorporated in the EU, EEA, the UK, Switzerland or Israel, and processes customer data in Europe or Israel. A US parent company disqualifies a tool from this page regardless of where its servers are.

  2. 2
    Category fit and hands-on review

What the tool actually does, who it suits, and where it falls short — checked against the vendor’s own documentation, changelog and pricing page rather than its marketing copy.

  3. 3
    Compliance and pricing check

GDPR posture, hosting location and the prices quoted on this page are verified against the vendor’s public pricing before publication, and re-checked when we revisit the category.

  4. 4
    Position on this page

Placement on this page can be paid, and that can affect the order tools appear in. It never buys a listing: a tool that fails the checks above is not here at any price, and payment does not change the shortcomings we write about. A vendor can ask us to correct a factual error — not to remove a criticism.

Vendors can pay for visibility on this page. It never changes what an entry says about a product, including the criticism, and we earn nothing when you click through to a vendor. Vendors can pay for more visibility, higher up on the review pages; it never affects whether a tool is listed. Editorial policy

Key takeaways

  • Campspace B.V. in Haarlem is the one platform on this list where private hosts and guests transact inside the platform, and it adds 3 EUR plus 17% to the host price.
  • park4night in France lists more than 400,000 places on a free community map, and the pages we read describe no stay booking for it.
  • Camping.info in Berlin lists 22,660 campsites, and its terms say direct online booking through the portal is not possible.
  • Eurocamp is the only company here based in the United Kingdom, outside the EU, and it prices per accommodation with a 99 GBP deposit for early bookings.
  • Eight of the twelve platforms do not state where their website is hosted, so the location of the data is an open question for each of them.

European camping booking platforms are the sites and apps where campers find and reserve tent pitches, van spots, mobile homes and private land, run by companies established in Europe. The European part decides who holds your booking, payment and contact data, and which consumer law and courts apply when a stay is cancelled or a host does not show.

The FAQ promises a full refund within 48 hours if a host does not answer a request, depending on the payment provider.

The Campspace terms name Campspace B.V., Koepelplein 1E in Haarlem, with a Dutch Chamber of Commerce number. Guests pay the host price plus 3 EUR and a 17% commission, in EUR except for Danish spots in DKK. Payments run through Buckaroo, Nuvei and Stripe. Which type of camping booking platform fits the way you camp?

The twelve platforms do four different jobs, and picking the wrong type is the usual mistake. Campspace lists private land and takes the payment. park4night, Camping.info, PiNCAMP and ACSI help you find places and campsites. France Passion connects motorhomes with producers who host them.

The remaining six, Huttopia, Eurocamp, Capfun, Sunelia, Siblu and Camping and Co, sell stays at campsites and parks, mostly as mobile homes or fitted tents. Decide first whether you carry your own tent or van, because that cuts the list in half before any price is compared.

How do camping booking platforms charge, and who gets the money?

Campspace states its model in the FAQ: the host sets the price, and Campspace adds a fixed 3 EUR plus a 17% commission. Camping.info is free for campers and shows from-prices per night, for example from 20.00 EUR at a campsite in Ribera de Cabanes, but the booking and payment go to the campsite.

Eurocamp prices per accommodation, not per person, and asks for a 99 GBP deposit if you book by 31 January in the travel year. Huttopia and Sunelia advertised 10% off 2027 stays, and Camping and Co showed 30 euros off a stay at sign-up. For PiNCAMP, ACSI, Capfun and Siblu, the pages we read showed no prices, so request a quote.

Where does a camping booking platform keep your data, and which law applies?

All twelve name a legal entity, and eleven are based in the EU. Eurocamp is registered in England as Greenbank Holidays Limited, covered by a UK adequacy decision but outside the EEA. The jurisdiction of the company tells you which regulator you can complain to, which is useful when a refund is disputed.

Hosting is less clear. park4night names OVH in Roubaix, Huttopia names OELIS in Saint-Etienne, and PiNCAMP names Amazon Web Services EMEA SARL with US-linked sub-processors under the Data Privacy Framework. Campspace routes payments through Buckaroo, Nuvei and Stripe. The other platforms did not state a hosting location on the pages we read.

How do you move from Hipcamp to a European camping booking platform?

Start with your past bookings and saved places, because none of the twelve platforms imports a Hipcamp account. Note the names of the hosts you liked, and ask them whether they are also listed on Campspace or on a local portal.

Then match the use. Campspace is the closest to a Hipcamp booking, Camping.info and PiNCAMP replace the search of ordinary campsites, and park4night replaces the map for van stops. Hipcamp, Inc. points European users to separate terms that we did not read, so keep your own booking confirmations before you close that account.

When should you not use a booking platform at all?

France Passion and park4night both work without a reservation. France Passion describes stopovers at about 2,200 producers as free all year for members, with a printed guide each March, and park4night is free to browse. If you travel in a motorhome and like to decide each afternoon, a booking engine adds fees and little else.

A platform also makes little sense when you already know the campsite. Booking direct avoids a commission such as the 17% Campspace adds, and the campsite sets its own cancellation rules. A portal such as Camping.info forwards you to the campsite anyway, so use it to compare and then contact the site.

What should you read before paying a deposit on a camping platform?

Look for the cancellation terms and the contracting party. Camping and Co offers a Flex+ option that allows cancelling up to the day before arrival, according to its page header. Eurocamp states no amendment fee up to four weeks before departure for 2026 holidays and eight weeks for 2027. Siblu names French law and courts but not which entity signs a booking.

Also check who holds the money. Campspace says a host who does not answer a request means a full refund within 48 hours, depending on the payment provider. Camping.info and ACSI do not hold the booking at all, so the refund question sits with the campsite you pay.

How we selected and ranked these 12 tools

Every tool on this page is in the European Purpose directory, which means the operating company is established in Europe and we have verified that from the company register or the vendor's own legal notice rather than from a marketing page. Tools headquartered outside Europe are not eligible, however good they are.

  1. Feature verification (weight: 40%). We check each capability against the vendor's own documentation and product pages, and record what the tool does rather than what the category is assumed to include.
  2. Ease of adoption (weight: 30%). Integrations, published API access, trial availability and how much configuration stands between signing and a usable result.
  3. Value and transparency (weight: 30%). Published pricing counts in a vendor's favour; quote-only pricing is recorded as quote-only rather than estimated. We weigh what a buyer gets for the entry price, not the headline feature count.
  4. Editorial review. Every page is researched and drafted with AI assistance, and the compliance and pricing claims are checked against the vendor's documentation before it is published under the founder's editorial responsibility. The three weights above decide the order; a position is a ranking against the other European tools in this category, not an absolute score.

Vendor-reported outcomes — ROI figures, margin uplift, time saved — are labelled as vendor claims wherever they appear on this page. We have not audited them, and neither has anyone else who quotes them. Read our full editorial process for how pages are re-verified.

Frequently asked questions

That depends on the criterion. For private land with payment on the platform, Campspace in Haarlem. For free overnight spots for vans, park4night in France. For comparing established campsites, Camping.info in Berlin and PiNCAMP in Munich. For fitted holiday homes, Eurocamp, Capfun, Sunelia and Siblu. For inspected guides, ACSI in the Netherlands.

Campspace lists tent, van and motorhome spots, glamping, treehouses and cabins from private hosts, and the about page cites over 75,000 spots in 45+ countries after a merger with HomeCamper. France Passion connects motorhomes with about 2,200 farms and cellars in France, but it has no tent pitches and no booking engine in the text we read.

park4night is free to browse and use, with some features in a park4night+ version whose price we did not see. Camping.info is free for campers, and PiNCAMP is free to search. Booking itself costs money on Campspace, where the guest pays 3 EUR plus a 17% commission on top of the host price.

Camping.info says in its terms that direct online booking through the portal is not possible, and it forwards you to the campsite or a service provider. ACSI lists a product called ACSI camping.info Booking in its menu, but we did not verify how it relates to the Camping.info portal. For direct booking, look at Campspace, Eurocamp, Capfun or Huttopia.

Eurocamp is run by Greenbank Holidays Limited in Northwich, England, and the UK has an adequacy decision but sits outside the EEA. Siblu also names Siblu UK Ltd in London next to Siblu France SAS in Pessac. The other platforms name companies in the Netherlands, Germany or France.

Camping and Co offers FLEX+, which allows cancelling up to the day before arrival without proof, according to its page header. Eurocamp has no amendment fee up to four or eight weeks before departure, depending on the year. Sunelia mentions a cancellation guarantee, and the terms were not read in full. Compare the exact conditions before paying.
