European Alternatives to Outdoorsy

Looking for a European alternative to Outdoorsy? The Outdoorsy Terms of Service name Outdoorsy, Inc. and its subsidiaries as the contracting party, and they require binding arbitration with a class action and jury trial waiver unless a user opts out within 30 days. Outdoorsy states that it operates in 14 countries with North America as its strategic focus, and its privacy policy carries a separate notice for EEA and non-US residents.

The European campervan and motorhome rental platforms below name legal entities in France, Germany, the Netherlands, Portugal, the Czech Republic and the United Kingdom, and they cover peer-to-peer rentals, professional fleets and booking agencies.

How we rank these tools — 4-step process
  1. 1
    European ownership, verified

The company is headquartered and incorporated in the EU, EEA, the UK, Switzerland or Israel, and processes customer data in Europe or Israel. A US parent company disqualifies a tool from this page regardless of where its servers are.

  2. 2
    Category fit and hands-on review

What the tool actually does, who it suits, and where it falls short — checked against the vendor’s own documentation, changelog and pricing page rather than its marketing copy.

  3. 3
    Compliance and pricing check

GDPR posture, hosting location and the prices quoted on this page are verified against the vendor’s public pricing before publication, and re-checked when we revisit the category.

  4. 4
    Position on this page

Placement on this page can be paid, and that can affect which tools appear here and the order they appear in. It never buys a good review: a tool that fails the checks above is not here at any price, and payment does not change the shortcomings we write about. A vendor can ask us to correct a factual error — not to remove a criticism.

Vendors can pay for visibility on this page. It never changes what an entry says about a product, including the criticism, and we earn nothing when you click through to a vendor. Vendors can pay for more visibility, higher up on the review pages; it never affects which tools are listed. Editorial policy

Key takeaways

  • Outdoorsy, Inc. is the contracting party in the Outdoorsy Terms of Service, which send most disputes to binding arbitration unless a user opts out within 30 days.
  • Outdoorsy lists RV rentals by US state, with 6,292 in California, 2,651 in Texas and 2,453 in Florida on its home page.
  • Yescapa (France), PaulCamper (Germany) and Goboony (Netherlands) are the three peer-to-peer marketplaces on this page that rent campervans from private owners.
  • Roadsurfer, Indie Campers and Anywhere Campers rent from their own fleets and offer one-way trips, while CamperDays and CU Camper book through partner providers.
  • Several European platforms show no daily prices on the pages we read, so a quote is needed before any comparison with an Outdoorsy booking.

Why people leave Outdoorsy

Outdoorsy is a US marketplace where owners rent out their RVs to travellers. Its own about page calls the business a peer-to-peer marketplace without a fleet of its own, free to join and without membership fees, and it adds a second product called Wheelbase for professional rental companies. The home page has tabs for RVs, cars and campgrounds, and offers either delivery and set-up or plain pick-up.

The map on its home page tells you where the business lives. Listing counts are given for American states and cities: 6,292 RV rentals in California, 2,651 in Texas, 2,453 in Florida, 2,834 in Los Angeles. Outdoorsy states that it operates in 14 countries, but also that North America is its strategic focus, and a renter planning a route from Lisbon to Trondheim will find that the product was built around a different continent.

The contract is the second reason people look elsewhere. The Terms of Service, revised on 1 October 2026, name Outdoorsy, Inc. as the party you contract with and send disputes to binding arbitration, with a class action and jury trial waiver, unless you opt out in writing within 30 days. Many European renters and owners want a contract with a local entity and a local court instead.

  • The inventory is built for American road trips Outdoorsy lists its rentals by US state and by US city, and its own text describes North America as the strategic focus. A traveller who wants a van in Bordeaux or a motorhome in Bavaria searches a marketplace whose depth is somewhere else. The European platforms on this page start from the opposite end: they list vehicles in their home markets first and then add neighbouring countries.
  • Disputes go to arbitration, not to a court near you The Outdoorsy Terms of Service require binding and final arbitration for most disputes, waive class actions and jury trials, and give users 30 days to opt out. Opting out is possible, but you have to know about it and act inside the window. The French, German, Dutch, Portuguese, Czech and British entities in this comparison name their own registered offices and contract under their own national law.
  • The product is an RV marketplace, and the vehicles are RVs Outdoorsy describes toy haulers, fifth wheelers, Class A, B and C motorhomes and trailers. Those categories come from the American market. In Europe, renters usually look for panel-van conversions, compact motorhomes under 3.5 tonnes and vans that fit a narrow mountain road. The European platforms below filter by those vehicle types, by electric drivetrain and by permission to cross borders.
  • Data and support sit in another time zone Outdoorsy publishes a separate privacy notice for EEA and non-US residents, which tells you how the company treats Europe: as an addition to a US service. We could not read the privacy policy page itself, so we make no claim about transfers. What can be said is that every platform on this page names a European or British legal entity, which Outdoorsy does not.

What you have to replace, not just match

Outdoorsy covers two groups of users, and a replacement has to be chosen for each. Renters need a place to find a vehicle, pay safely and get help when something breaks. Owners need a way to list a vehicle, set a calendar and have the rental insured. Professional rental companies are a third group, served by Wheelbase.

For renters, the closest European match to the peer-to-peer model is Yescapa from France, followed by PaulCamper for Germany and Austria and Goboony from the Netherlands. For owners, Yescapa, Goboony, Wikicampers and Quirky Campers all describe an owner section. If you rented from companies through Outdoorsy, Roadsurfer, Indie Campers and Anywhere Campers operate their own fleets, and CamperDays and CU Camper act as agencies in front of several providers.

Three Outdoorsy features have no direct European twin in our sources. Campground booking and the sister car rental brand Ride are separate products. Delivery and set-up of an RV at a campsite is only partly matched: Anywhere Campers describes delivery to airports and ports, which is a different service.

How each alternative compares to Outdoorsy

#1

Yescapa

the nearest European copy of the Outdoorsy peer-to-peer model

Bordeaux, FrancePrices depend on vehicle and dates and are not shown in the text we read. Listing a vehicle is described, but the owner commission is not shown on the pages we read.#1 in Campervan and Motorhome Rental Platforms

Best for: Renters and owners who want a private-owner marketplace across the UK and Europe

SAS Yescapa runs a peer-to-peer marketplace from Bordeaux, and its legal notice names Sergio Branco as president. Like Outdoorsy, it connects private owners with renters and offers an owner section, a payment system run by a third party, reviews and apps for iOS and Android. Yescapa states that insurance and breakdown assistance are included and that renters can pay in instalments.

The comparison with Outdoorsy is mostly about geography and contract. Yescapa claims more than 24,000 vehicles and a 4.9 rating from 423,053 reviews, figures we did not check. Its legal notice names Amazon Web Services LLC in Seattle as host without a region, so the data story is not clean either.

What Yescapa does better than Outdoorsy

  • Contracts with a French company at a Bordeaux address, not with a US corporation
  • Covers the UK and Europe where Outdoorsy centres on North America
  • States that insurance and breakdown assistance come with a booking
  • Offers payment in instalments

Where Yescapa is a step down from Outdoorsy

  • Hosting is with a US company and the region is not stated
  • No daily prices and no owner commission in the text we read
  • Self-reported vehicle and review counts that we could not check

Standout against Outdoorsy. It is the only European marketplace here that combines private owners, an owner section and cover across both the UK and the continent.

PaulCamper

a German private-owner marketplace with a registered Berlin company

Berlin, GermanyThe search page is titled "Wohnmobil mieten ab 30€/Tag". Final prices depend on vehicle and dates and are not shown in the text we read.#2 in Campervan and Motorhome Rental Platforms

Best for: Renters in Germany or Austria who want a private-owner marketplace with a German entity

PaulCamper GmbH is registered as HRB 199512 B at the Amtsgericht Charlottenburg in Berlin, and the imprint names Justin Hales as managing director. The marketplace lists motorhomes, vans, caravans and VW buses from private owners and shows a search title "ab 30€/Tag". Breakdown assistance and 24/7 support are stated as part of the offer.

Against Outdoorsy the trade is clear. PaulCamper gives you a German-language service under German rental conditions, but only for Germany and Austria. Its pages state that it will not take part in consumer arbitration proceedings, which is the opposite of the Outdoorsy approach to disputes. We did not read its privacy policy.

What PaulCamper does better than Outdoorsy

  • Names a registered German company with commercial register data
  • Shows a starting price of 30 EUR per day in its search title
  • Publishes standard rental conditions
  • Does not push disputes into a US-style arbitration clause

Where PaulCamper is a step down from Outdoorsy

  • Covers only Germany and Austria
  • The pages we read are in German
  • Privacy policy not read, so hosting and retention are unknown

Standout against Outdoorsy. Its imprint gives a register number, a court and a named managing director, which makes it the easiest company on this page to check.

#3

Goboony

a Dutch marketplace with separate sites for five markets

Utrecht, NetherlandsPrices depend on vehicle and dates. The pages we read show a price filter and a sort by price but no amounts.#3 in Campervan and Motorhome Rental Platforms

Best for: Renters who plan a cross-border trip and want filters for abroad, pets and electric vans

Goboony B.V. in Utrecht runs sites for the Netherlands, Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom and a .com version. The support footer shows a Chamber of Commerce number and a Dutch VAT number. Search filters cover unlimited kilometres, pets, driving abroad and electric campervans, and the site also offers campsite search and price sorting.

The comparison with Outdoorsy turns on search quality for European trips. Goboony tells you up front whether a van may leave the country, which matters when the route crosses three borders. The pages we read, however, show no amounts and no insurance terms, and the privacy policy carries a 2018 date, so check the current conditions in your booking.

What Goboony does better than Outdoorsy

  • Filter for driving abroad, which suits European multi-country routes
  • Lists electric campervans as a search option
  • Separate local sites in the language of five markets
  • Dutch Chamber of Commerce and VAT numbers shown in the footer

Where Goboony is a step down from Outdoorsy

  • No price amounts in the text we read
  • Insurance and payment terms were not part of our pages
  • Privacy policy is dated May 2018

Standout against Outdoorsy. It treats cross-border driving as a search filter, which an American marketplace has little reason to do.

Wikicampers

a French-language marketplace that also sells vans and gift cards

Bidart, FranceNo rental price in the text we read. The homepage states 5000 offers of vans and motorhomes. The commission for owners is not shown.#4 in Campervan and Motorhome Rental Platforms

Best for: French-speaking renters and owners who want private and professional lenders on one site

Wikicampers is the brand of Hors Limites 64 in Bidart, with a share capital of 5 056 EUR and a SIRET number in its legal notice. The homepage presents renting, buying and selling between individuals and states 5000 offers of vans, converted vans and motorhomes. Professional lenders sit next to private ones.

Outdoorsy also mixes private owners and rental companies, but Wikicampers adds used-vehicle sales, gift cards and a financing partner for purchases. The legal notice says the company distributes insurance as an intermediary of Marsh S.A.S. All of it is in French, and the pages we read name no rental price, commission or hosting country.

What Wikicampers does better than Outdoorsy

  • Mixes private and professional lenders under a French legal notice
  • Adds vehicle sales and gift cards to the rental offer
  • Names its insurance intermediary relationship openly
  • A French operator named in a legal notice, not a US corporation

Where Wikicampers is a step down from Outdoorsy

  • All pages are in French
  • No rental prices or owner commission in the text we read
  • The legal form of Hors Limites 64 is not named

Standout against Outdoorsy. It is the one platform here that combines rental, used-vehicle sales and gift cards on a single French site.

Indie Campers

a professional fleet with one-way routes, run from Portugal

Lisbon / Santo Tirso, PortugalNo daily price in the text we read. The storefront we read was the US version ("EN | USD") and advertises up to 50% off and a best price guarantee. A fee document and protection plans are listed in the help centre but were not read.#5 in Campervan and Motorhome Rental Platforms

Best for: Renters who want a company-owned van with unlimited mileage instead of a private owner

Indie Campers started in Lisbon in 2013 and rents from its own fleet. The German imprint names Indie Campers Germany GmbH (HRB 111040, Frankfurt am Main) and Hugo Oliveira as managing director, and the website provider is Indie Camper Central Services in Santo Tirso. Its stated features are unlimited mileage, one-way options and 24/7 support.

Against Outdoorsy, this is a rental company rather than a marketplace. You get uniform vehicles and a single point of contact, but the vehicle is not someone's own camper. The storefront we read was the US version in dollars, locations span three continents, and the imprint names Amazon Web Services, Inc. in Seattle as host.

What Indie Campers does better than Outdoorsy

  • One company is responsible for fleet, booking and support
  • Unlimited mileage and one-way options are stated
  • A German imprint with register data and a managing director
  • A separate host programme with peer-to-peer terms exists

Where Indie Campers is a step down from Outdoorsy

  • Shares the brand with North American and Oceania operations
  • Hosting with a US company, region not stated
  • Group ownership and daily prices were not shown in the text we read

Standout against Outdoorsy. Its one-way rentals between European cities suit a point-to-point trip that a private owner usually cannot offer.

Roadsurfer

a Munich fleet operator that replaces the renter side only

Munich, GermanyThe English pricing page we read lists US dollar prices for North America, from 115 USD per night excluding fees. European prices are not shown in the text we read. The page lists booking, travel, pet and cleaning fees and a deposit.#6 in Campervan and Motorhome Rental Platforms

Best for: Renters who want a professional fleet and do not need to list their own vehicle

roadsurfer GmbH in Munich is registered as HRB 229982 and has three named managing directors. It rents camper vans, Sprinter RVs and motorhomes from its own fleet, includes a free second driver and 24/7 roadside assistance, and runs rally deals for one-way trips. It also offers a camper subscription and vehicle purchases.

Roadsurfer has a US website too, and its English pricing page lists dollar prices from 115 USD per night excluding fees for North America. That site is run by RS USA, Inc. in Delaware, so the brand is not purely European. European prices, rental terms and the privacy policy PDF were not readable for us, and private owners cannot list vehicles.

What Roadsurfer does better than Outdoorsy

  • Free second driver and 24/7 roadside assistance are stated
  • Rally deals reduce the cost of one-way trips
  • German imprint with register data and three named directors
  • Also offers subscription and purchase next to rental

Where Roadsurfer is a step down from Outdoorsy

  • No listings from private owners, so it covers only the renter side
  • European prices were not in the text we read
  • Extra fees and a deposit apply

Standout against Outdoorsy. It is the only platform here that offers a subscription alongside rental and purchase.

Quirky Campers

a British hire company with an owner programme

Bristol, United KingdomNo daily price in the text we read. The banner says owners can "Earn up to £18k" by renting out a campervan, and discount pages exist for last-minute, seasonal and long-term hire.#7 in Campervan and Motorhome Rental Platforms

Best for: Renters in the UK who want a styled van and owners who want to rent theirs out

Quirky Campers Ltd (company number 07399607) is based in Bristol and names itself as the data controller in a privacy policy updated on 16 June 2026. The site offers hire in many UK regions, collections for pets, festivals and all-electric vans, and discounts for last-minute, seasonal and long-term hire.

It is not an EU company, so the jurisdiction is the United Kingdom, which has an adequacy decision but sits outside the EEA. Owners see a banner that says they can "Earn up to £18k", and a menu entry leads to the rent-out programme. We did not read the booking conditions, prices or hosting details.

What Quirky Campers does better than Outdoorsy

  • British company with a company number and a Bristol address
  • Privacy policy updated in June 2026
  • Collections for pets, festivals and electric vans
  • Discount pages for last-minute and long-term hire

Where Quirky Campers is a step down from Outdoorsy

  • Focuses on the United Kingdom, not on continental Europe
  • Not an EU entity
  • Booking conditions text and daily prices were not readable

Standout against Outdoorsy. It combines a styled own-vehicle hire offer with an owner programme in the UK.

Anywhere Campers

a Prague one-way specialist with delivery to airports and ports

Prague, Czech RepublicNo daily price in the text we read. The terms state a security deposit of EUR 1500 and an excess reduction plan at 39 Euro per day (option 1). The full rental fee is due 45 days before the start.#8 in Campervan and Motorhome Rental Platforms

Best for: Renters who want a one-way trip of two weeks to six months with delivery

Anywhere Campers belongs to Exkurzo s.r.o. in Prague and says it began in 2013 with two motorhomes and now has 50+. It sells one-way trips from 14 days to half a year, with delivery to airports and ports, manual and automatic vehicles, and pages for the Canary Islands and Norway.

Against Outdoorsy, it is a niche operator with published money terms: a security deposit of EUR 1500, an excess reduction plan at 39 Euro per day (option 1), and the full rental fee due 45 days before the start. It has no private owners, no daily prices in our text and no privacy policy in our pack.

What Anywhere Campers does better than Outdoorsy

  • Delivery to airports and ports is stated
  • Deposit and excess plan are published in euro
  • Czech company with the founder and director named on the about page
  • Manual and automatic vehicles are both offered

Where Anywhere Campers is a step down from Outdoorsy

  • A small fleet compared with Roadsurfer and Indie Campers
  • No private owner listings
  • No privacy policy read, so hosting is unknown

Standout against Outdoorsy. It publishes its deposit and excess amounts in euro, which most platforms here leave until checkout.

CamperDays

a Cologne agency that compares professional providers

Cologne, GermanyPrices depend on provider, vehicle and dates and are not shown in the text we read. The homepage mentions a best price guarantee and a pay-by-invoice option.#9 in Campervan and Motorhome Rental Platforms

Best for: Renters who want one agency in front of many professional providers

CamperDays GmbH in Cologne, founded in February 2013, is an agency. Its terms state that it has no vehicle fleet and that local contract partners supply the vehicle. The imprint lists HRB 116006 at Amtsgericht Köln with Maximilian Schmidt as managing director, and the homepage mentions a best price guarantee and a pay-by-invoice option.

This is a different model from Outdoorsy. You book through a German agency but the rental contract partner varies by provider and country. CamperDays targets private persons only and excludes private owners as providers, so it replaces the search function but not the owner side. Prices were not part of the text we read.

What CamperDays does better than Outdoorsy

  • Compares several professional providers in one search
  • German register data and a named managing director
  • Invoice payment option mentioned on the homepage
  • Phone and email advice stated on the homepage

Where CamperDays is a step down from Outdoorsy

  • No vehicles of its own, so the rental partner varies
  • No private owners
  • No prices or hosting information in the text we read

Standout against Outdoorsy. It is a price-comparison agency, a role Outdoorsy does not play.

CU Camper

a Hamburg booking agency with a long-haul focus

Hamburg, GermanyNo standard price in the text we read. The homepage shows a promotion code worth EUR 222 per booking during a campaign week, and a terms-of-payment page exists but its text was empty in our pack.#10 in Campervan and Motorhome Rental Platforms

Best for: Renters who book a professional provider through a German agency, including overseas trips

CU Camper is published by CU Travel GmbH & Co. KG in Hamburg (HR-A 116211), with Timmo Krause-Duenow as managing director of the managing company. The homepage claims 150+ providers in 20+ countries and a 4.8 rating from 1300+ reviews. These are vendor figures.

The site books motorhomes from local partners and promises a best price and an instant refund. For a European replacement of Outdoorsy this is a weaker fit: the pages we read give North America as much room as Europe, there are no private owners, and neither ownership nor hosting is stated.

What CU Camper does better than Outdoorsy

  • German register data and a named managing director
  • Travel guides for destinations
  • Best price promise and instant refund are stated

Where CU Camper is a step down from Outdoorsy

  • North America is prominent in the pages we read
  • No standard prices were visible
  • Ownership of CU Travel and hosting are not stated

Standout against Outdoorsy. It offers destination guides next to the booking, which suits a first trip abroad.

Campanda

a Berlin listing site where you contact landlords directly

Berlin, GermanyUsing the service as a renter is free according to the terms. The homepage shows example vehicles from 44,00 EUR per standard day up to 130,00 EUR per standard day.#11 in Campervan and Motorhome Rental Platforms

Best for: Renters in Germany who want to compare vehicle types and contact the landlord

Campanda.de belongs to Listaro Group GmbH in Berlin (HRB 166134 B), and the page footer names Erento Campanda GmbH as copyright holder. Campanda is not a landlord itself. Listings can be sorted by vehicle type, such as alcove, semi-integrated or fully integrated, and by city, and the homepage shows example prices per standard day.

Renters register for free according to the terms, valid from 1 November 2026. Landlord fees, insurance and deposits were not in the text we read. The imprint also still talks about the EU dispute platform as if it were to be set up, which suggests it was not updated. Only Germany appears in the listings we read.

What Campanda does better than Outdoorsy

  • Free renter registration stated in the terms
  • Example prices per standard day from 44,00 to 130,00 EUR
  • Listings by vehicle type and city
  • Terms valid from 1 November 2026

Where Campanda is a step down from Outdoorsy

  • Germany only in the pages we read
  • Insurance and deposit terms were not read
  • The imprint text on dispute resolution looks outdated

Standout against Outdoorsy. It lets you filter by motorhome type, such as alcove or fully integrated, which is how many Germans shop.

McRent

a German motorhome rental brand with a thin public record

Isny, GermanyNot shown on the pages we read, see website.#12 in Campervan and Motorhome Rental Platforms

Best for: Renters in Germany who want a traceable company behind a motorhome rental brand

McRent is a brand of Rental Alliance GmbH in Isny, registered as HRB 621035 at Amtsgericht Ulm. The imprint names Alexander Kastl and Christoph Welte as managing directors, gives a reservation email, and applies German law.

Only the imprint was readable for us, because the homepage came back as unreadable data. We therefore cannot compare prices, insurance, fleet or privacy terms with Outdoorsy. Country sites in several languages exist. Treat this entry as a pointer to a company to ask, not as a verified comparison.

What McRent does better than Outdoorsy

  • German register entry and VAT number in the imprint
  • Named managing directors

Where McRent is a step down from Outdoorsy

  • Prices, insurance and privacy terms could not be read

Standout against Outdoorsy. It has a traceable German company behind the brand, even if little else was readable.

What actually breaks when you switch

Bookings come first. A confirmed Outdoorsy reservation stays with Outdoorsy under its terms, so finish or cancel those trips before you move. Renters lose nothing by trying a European platform for the next trip, because no data has to be transferred.

Owners have more to move. Reviews, photos and a booking calendar are tied to the Outdoorsy listing, and we found no export function in the pages we read. Rebuild the listing on a European platform, copy the text and photos yourself, and ask about the commission and the cover before you publish.

Insurance deserves a separate check. Cover terms differ between platforms and between countries, and several of the European pages we read do not show them. Ask for the policy document, the excess and the cross-border rules in writing before you hand over keys or collect a van.

Can I still use Outdoorsy for a trip in Europe?

Yes, Outdoorsy states that it operates in 14 countries, so listings outside North America exist. The question is depth. The numbers on its home page are all American, and we have no figure for European listings.

Check the search result for your dates before you commit. If you see only a handful of vehicles near your pick-up point, compare them with a European platform, which will usually have more local supply and a local help desk.

What happens if I want to leave Outdoorsy as an owner?

Read the Terms of Service for your listing and for the open bookings, and honour any confirmed reservations first. We did not read the host terms in detail, so check the cancellation rules before you remove a vehicle from the calendar.

Then list the vehicle on a European platform. Yescapa, Goboony and Wikicampers describe private-owner listings, and Quirky Campers runs an owner programme in the United Kingdom. None of the pages we read shows the owner commission, so ask each platform for it in writing.

Which one to pick

If you rent from a private owner and travel in Europe, start with Yescapa, and use PaulCamper for Germany and Austria or Goboony when the route crosses borders. If you want a company-owned van with one-way options, compare Roadsurfer, Indie Campers and Anywhere Campers.

If you want an agency to compare providers, CamperDays and CU Camper do that. If you rent out your own vehicle, ask Yescapa, Goboony, Wikicampers or Quirky Campers for the commission first. And if your trip is in the American West, Outdoorsy remains the stronger choice, because the inventory is there.

Frequently Asked Questions

For renting a campervan from a private owner, Yescapa from Bordeaux is the closest match because it also covers the United Kingdom and has an owner section. PaulCamper (Berlin) suits Germany and Austria, Goboony (Utrecht) suits cross-border trips, and Roadsurfer (Munich) suits renters who prefer a professional fleet.

The Outdoorsy Terms of Service, revised on 1 October 2026, name Outdoorsy, Inc. and its subsidiaries. The headquarters city was not shown on the pages we read, so we only state that it is a United States company. Its about page describes a peer-to-peer marketplace and a second product, Wheelbase, for professional rental companies.
