European Campervan and Motorhome Rental Platforms

Campervan and motorhome rental platforms connect travellers with private owners or professional fleets and handle booking, payment and cover. A European option matters because the rental contract, the booking data and the payment details then sit with a company registered in France, Germany, the Netherlands, Portugal, the Czech Republic or the United Kingdom, instead of a North American operator whose focus is the United States and Canada.

How we rank these tools — 4-step process
  1. 1
    European ownership, verified

The company is headquartered and incorporated in the EU, EEA, the UK, Switzerland or Israel, and processes customer data in Europe or Israel. A US parent company disqualifies a tool from this page regardless of where its servers are.

  2. 2
    Category fit and hands-on review

What the tool actually does, who it suits, and where it falls short — checked against the vendor’s own documentation, changelog and pricing page rather than its marketing copy.

  3. 3
    Compliance and pricing check

GDPR posture, hosting location and the prices quoted on this page are verified against the vendor’s public pricing before publication, and re-checked when we revisit the category.

  4. 4
    Position on this page

Placement on this page can be paid, and that can affect the order tools appear in. It never buys a listing: a tool that fails the checks above is not here at any price, and payment does not change the shortcomings we write about. A vendor can ask us to correct a factual error — not to remove a criticism.

Vendors can pay for visibility on this page. It never changes what an entry says about a product, including the criticism, and we earn nothing when you click through to a vendor. Vendors can pay for more visibility, higher up on the review pages; it never affects whether a tool is listed. Editorial policy

Key takeaways

  • Yescapa (Bordeaux), PaulCamper (Berlin) and Goboony (Utrecht) are the peer-to-peer marketplaces in this list where private owners rent out their vans.
  • Roadsurfer (Munich), Indie Campers (Lisbon) and Anywhere Campers (Prague) rent from their own fleets and describe one-way options.
  • CamperDays (Cologne) and CU Camper (Hamburg) are agencies without vehicles, so the actual rental contract sits with a partner provider.
  • Only PaulCamper (from 30 EUR per day) and Campanda (44,00 to 130,00 EUR per standard day) show price points in the pages we read.
  • Quirky Campers is registered in the United Kingdom, which has an EU adequacy decision but sits outside the EEA, while the other eleven platforms name EU entities.

European campervan and motorhome rental platforms are online marketplaces, fleet operators and booking agencies that rent vehicles to travellers under a contract with a registered company in France, Germany, the Netherlands, Portugal, the Czech Republic or the United Kingdom, instead of a US marketplace.

Which type of campervan rental platform should I choose in Europe?

The choice is between a private owner, a company fleet and an agency, and each changes who you deal with when something goes wrong. Yescapa, PaulCamper, Goboony and Wikicampers connect you with an individual owner. Roadsurfer, Indie Campers, Anywhere Campers and Quirky Campers hire out their own vehicles.

CamperDays and CU Camper sit in front of several professional providers and do not own vans. McRent and Campanda are the unclear cases: McRent has a German company behind it but little readable text, and Campanda lists landlords and leaves the contract to them.

Which campervan rental platform is best for a one-way trip?

Anywhere Campers builds its offer on one-way trips of 14 days to half a year, with delivery to airports and ports. Roadsurfer lists one-way rally deals, and Indie Campers states one-way options with unlimited mileage from its own fleet.

Private-owner platforms such as Yescapa and PaulCamper depend on what the individual owner agrees to, and the pages we read do not describe one-way rentals for them. Ask any platform for the one-way fee in writing, since none of the pages we read quotes it.

How do campervan rental platforms in Europe handle prices and fees?

Most of them show a price only after you enter dates. PaulCamper titles its search "ab 30€/Tag", and Campanda shows example vehicles between 44,00 and 130,00 EUR per standard day. Anywhere Campers states a deposit of EUR 1500 and an excess plan at 39 Euro per day.

Roadsurfer lists booking, travel, pet and cleaning fees and a deposit on its pricing page, although its European prices were not readable. For owners, Yescapa, Wikicampers and Quirky Campers show no commission in the text we read, while Quirky Campers advertises that owners can earn up to £18k.

Does hiring a campervan from a European platform fall under GDPR and local law?

It does when the contracting company is established in the EU. The legal notices and imprints of Yescapa, PaulCamper, Goboony, Wikicampers, Roadsurfer, Anywhere Campers, CamperDays, CU Camper, Campanda and McRent name entities in France, Germany, the Netherlands and the Czech Republic.

Hosting is a separate question. Yescapa and Indie Campers name Amazon Web Services in Seattle as host without a region, and most other platforms state no hosting at all in the pages we read. Quirky Campers is registered in the UK, which has an adequacy decision for data transfers.

How do I move from Outdoorsy to a European campervan platform?

Renters can simply book the next trip elsewhere, since no data has to be transferred. Outdoorsy lists its supply by US state and describes North America as its focus, so a European route is usually better served by Yescapa, Goboony or Roadsurfer.

Owners have to rebuild their listing, reviews included, because we found no export function. Yescapa, Goboony, Wikicampers and Quirky Campers describe owner sections. Ask each for its commission and cover terms before you publish.

When should I not switch away from a US platform?

Stay with Outdoorsy if your trip is in the United States or Canada. Its home page counts thousands of RV rentals per US state, and no platform in this list builds its supply around North America. Roadsurfer runs a US site through RS USA, Inc., and Indie Campers lists locations in North America.

Every tool on this page is in the European Purpose directory, which means the operating company is established in Europe and we have verified that from the company register or the vendor's own legal notice rather than from a marketing page. Tools headquartered outside Europe are not eligible, however good they are.

  1. Feature verification (weight: 40%). We check each capability against the vendor's own documentation and product pages, and record what the tool does rather than what the category is assumed to include.
  2. Ease of adoption (weight: 30%). Integrations, published API access, trial availability and how much configuration stands between signing and a usable result.
  3. Value and transparency (weight: 30%). Published pricing counts in a vendor's favour; quote-only pricing is recorded as quote-only rather than estimated. We weigh what a buyer gets for the entry price, not the headline feature count.
  4. Editorial review. Every page is researched and drafted with AI assistance, and the compliance and pricing claims are checked against the vendor's documentation before it is published under the founder's editorial responsibility. The three weights above decide the order; a position is a ranking against the other European tools in this category, not an absolute score.

Vendor-reported outcomes — ROI figures, margin uplift, time saved — are labelled as vendor claims wherever they appear on this page. We have not audited them, and neither has anyone else who quotes them. Read our full editorial process for how pages are re-verified.

Yescapa, Goboony and Wikicampers describe listings from private owners, and Quirky Campers has a rent-out programme in the United Kingdom. Indie Campers has a host section with separate peer-to-peer terms. The owner commission is not shown in the text we read for any of them.

CamperDays and CU Camper. CamperDays states in its terms that it has no vehicle fleet and acts as an agency for motorhome providers. CU Camper books vehicles from local rental partners and reports more than 150 providers, which is its own figure.

Goboony runs a .com site and a UK site, Roadsurfer and Indie Campers have English pages, and Quirky Campers is a British company. Yescapa covers the UK and Europe. PaulCamper and Wikicampers appeared in German and French in the pages we read.

Yescapa and PaulCamper state that breakdown assistance is included, and Yescapa adds insurance. Wikicampers names Marsh S.A.S. as its insurance partner. Anywhere Campers publishes an excess reduction plan at 39 Euro per day. For the others, the insurance terms were not part of the pages we read.

Quirky Campers Ltd in Bristol is registered in the United Kingdom, which has an EU adequacy decision but is outside the EEA. Roadsurfer's US website is run by RS USA, Inc. in Delaware, while its German site is run by roadsurfer GmbH in Munich.
