Detailed Review
The privacy policy names SiteGround Spain S.L., registered in Madrid, as the data controller. The European pricing page lists plans in euros excluding VAT, and the 24/7 human support claim and 30-day money-back period are stated on the same page.
Three plans differ mainly by storage and sites: StartUp covers one website with 10 GB, GrowBig and GoGeek cover unlimited websites with 50 GB and 100 GB. Visits are described as unlimited on all of them.
Promo price versus regular price
The page shows StartUp at €2.99, GrowBig at €5.49 and GoGeek at €8.49 a month for a 12-month prepayment, then the plans renew at €15.99, €27.99 and €39.99. That makes the regular price the figure to budget for.
All prices exclude VAT. A comparison with other entries here should therefore use the renewal price, which is the one that applies to most of the contract's life.
Data centre choice
SiteGround lists eleven data centres: Ashburn, Council Bluffs, Dallas and Los Angeles in the US, London, Madrid, Eemshaven, Frankfurt and Paris in Europe, plus Sydney and Singapore. Clients can choose a location and change it later.
For a European residency requirement select one of the five European sites. Note that the page does not tie particular data centres to particular plans, so confirm that your plan offers your chosen location.
Features and staging
Every plan lists multilevel caching, a CDN, free email, free site migration and geo-distributed daily backups. On-demand backups come with GrowBig and GoGeek.
Staging appears from GrowBig, and GoGeek adds staging with Git. StartUp has no staging, which is a gap for anyone who tests changes before publishing.
Limitations to Consider
StartUp has one site and no staging, promo prices apply only to the first prepaid term, and the list of eleven data centres includes US, Australian and Singapore sites that you must avoid if you need European hosting. The terms of service page could not be opened, so the contracting entity is taken from the privacy policy. Compare staging included on every plan at Raidboxes.
Who Should Use SiteGround
Small sites and freelancers that want euro pricing, a European data center option and a money-back period, and that will budget for the renewal price.
