Detailed Review

Infomaniak kSuite is the hosted answer in this category from a company that also runs the servers.

Documents, spreadsheets and presentations are created and edited in the browser, straight from kDrive, with the OnlyOffice editors handling DOCX, XLSX and PPTX as well as the ODF formats, and several people can work in the same file at once. Around that sit mail, calendar, contacts, kChat and kMeet, which makes it closer to a Google Workspace replacement than to a lone editor, and the editors themselves are on the free plan rather than reserved for a paid tier.

Infomaniak Network SA is registered in Geneva (Commercial Register of the Canton of Geneva, CH-660.0.059.996-1) and says its software and data are hosted exclusively in Switzerland on its own servers.

Switzerland is outside the EU and EEA but has an adequacy decision, so this is Swiss rather than EU jurisdiction, with no US-established cloud in the path. The free plan covers one user; Standard is CHF 1.76 per user per month, Business CHF 7.34 (CHF 3.67 in the first year) and Enterprise CHF 13.83 (CHF 6.92 in the first year), excluding VAT, with Business adding extended version history and a Microsoft Office Online integration.

The limits are those of a platform that is not built around the editor.

Fidelity and features come from OnlyOffice rather than from Infomaniak, so it matches OnlyOffice on formats and not beyond it, and there is no desktop suite or offline mode of its own: working offline means syncing files through the kDrive app and opening them in a local suite. It is also a closed, hosted service, so unlike Nextcloud or Collabora there is no self-hosted route, and the deeper integrations and third-party ecosystem are smaller than those of Microsoft or Google.

What Infomaniak kSuite does well

  • Documents, spreadsheets and presentations included, with live co-editing
  • OnlyOffice editors for DOCX, XLSX, PPTX and ODF files
  • Software and data hosted exclusively in Switzerland on Infomaniak servers
  • Free plan, and paid plans from CHF 1.76 per user per month
  • Mail, calendar, chat and video meetings in the same account

Where Infomaniak kSuite falls short

  • Editor features and fidelity are OnlyOffice's, not Infomaniak's own
  • No self-hosted option and no offline suite of its own
  • Swiss rather than EU jurisdiction (adequacy decision)
  • Smaller third-party ecosystem than Microsoft or Google

Standout feature. A hosted suite with the editors on the free plan: Infomaniak includes documents, spreadsheets and slides from the free tier, hosted in Switzerland.
