Detailed Review
Dampsoft was started in 1986 by a dentist, Wolfram Greifenberg, who could not find software that fit his own practice. The company site now claims more than 12,500 customers and over 450 staff across Germany.
The range is split by job: DS4 and DS-WIN for the practice file, AIVA for speech-based documentation, ATHENA for digital patient intake and e-connect as a hosted connector to the German telematics network.
Two editions side by side
DS-WIN is the long-running on-premise product. DS4 is the newer one, reached through a browser without installation, and the vendor offers a comparison page so a practice can decide between them before buying.
Cloud or your own server
For DS4 the practice picks where data is stored: in the vendor cloud or on a local server. Several users can work in the same record at once, and the vendor lists Windows, macOS, Linux and Android as usable systems.
Automation inside the record
DS4 triggers follow-up tasks from certain actions and proposes to-dos to each staff member. The product page also describes a therapy planning view that can be adapted to the practice workflow.
Limitations to Consider
There is no public price list; the site routes you to an offer and a demo. Using AIVA, ATHENA and e-connect means buying several products from one vendor. Fitting the German billing and telematics rules also makes Dampsoft a poor match for practices outside Germany, where Denteo or Visiodent are closer.
Who Should Use Dampsoft
German dental practices that want one vendor for records, speech documentation and telematics, with the freedom to stay local or move to the cloud.
