Every European presentation software tool reviewed
Berlin, Germany
Free €0 / Plus €10 per month paying yearly / Team €15 per month paying yearly / Business €20 per month paying yearly / Enterprise on request
Free plan with unlimited presentations
Best for: Teams that build and share decks together in the cloud
Pitch is a deck-first workspace from Berlin. It offers live co-editing, shared templates, a brand library, AI slide generation and analytics on shared decks, and its homepage says more than four million teams use it. There is a free plan with unlimited presentations, and the paid ladder runs Plus at €10 per month, Team at €15 and Business at €20 when paying yearly, with an Enterprise plan on request.
The contracting entity is Pitch Software GmbH, Joachimstraße 7, Berlin, registered at the Amtsgericht Charlottenburg as HRB 193605 B, VAT DE316292236, managing director Adam Renklint. The GDPR page says Pitch is hosted on Amazon Web Services and that the data is stored in Ireland, in the eu-west-1 region. That is an EU location but a US-owned provider, which is worth knowing.
Pitch does presentations and little else, so it will not replace Canva for social posts or print. It ranks first because it is the most direct European answer to Google Slides and the vendor publishes company, price and data location on its own pages.
What Pitch does well
- Registered German GmbH with the register number published
- Free plan with unlimited presentations
- Prices in euros on the pricing page
- Data location named: AWS Ireland
- Live co-editing, brand library and shared templates
Where Pitch falls short
- Hosted on a US-owned cloud provider
- Presentations only, no social or print templates
- Free plan has a small AI allowance that does not renew
- Not open source
Standout feature. It is the only deck-first collaborative cloud tool here with a named EU data region.
Stockholm, Sweden
Free plan (50 participants per month) / Basic and Pro per presenter per month, billed yearly, amounts not in the page text / Enterprise by quote
Free plan
Best for: Presenters who want polls, quizzes and Q&A in the room
Mentimeter turns a presentation into a conversation. Its site describes it as interactive presentation and audience engagement software, with live polling, word clouds, quizzes, Q&A and an AI presentation and quiz generator. The free plan allows 50 participants per month, Basic adds unlimited participants and the ability to import PowerPoint, Keynote or PDF files, and Pro adds workspace collaboration and more design control.
The data controller is Mentimeter AB (publ), a Swedish limited liability company with registration number 556892-5506 and registered address Tulegatan 11, 113 86 Stockholm. The privacy policy says Mentimeter offers multi-regional hosting, that customer data at rest is hosted in the EU by default, and that limited transfers outside the EU/EEA use standard contractual clauses or adequacy decisions.
The plans page shows features but no amounts in its text, so no price is quoted here. It is not a design tool; it is the layer you add to a deck, and it is ranked second for the clarity of its company and data statements.
What Mentimeter does well
- Swedish AB with registration number and address published
- Customer data at rest hosted in the EU by default
- Free plan available
- Imports PowerPoint, Keynote and PDF files from Basic
- Wide range of interactive question types
Where Mentimeter falls short
- Plan amounts are not in the page text
- Not a full slide design tool
- Free plan limited to 50 participants per month
- Limited transfers outside the EU/EEA are possible
Standout feature. It states in the privacy policy that customer data at rest is hosted in the EU by default.
Córdoba, Spain
Free €0 / Pro €6 per month billed annually / Master €20 per member per month billed annually / Enterprise on request
Free plan
Best for: Teachers and trainers making interactive slides and learning content
Genially describes itself as a tool to create interactive content, presentations, courses, quizzes and games, with built-in AI. The plans page shows a Free plan at €0 with 500 AI credits per year, Pro at €6 per month billed annually, and Master at €20 per member per month billed annually, plus an Enterprise tier. It imports PDF, PowerPoint and Google Slides files.
The owner is Genially Web, S.L., CIF B56019912, Plaza Ramón y Cajal 4, Córdoba, entered in the Mercantile Registry of Córdoba. The terms apply Spanish law and the courts of Madrid, except for consumers. The privacy policy says users in the United States are served by the American subsidiary Genially LLC in Rye, New York, and users elsewhere by the Spanish parent.
It sits third because it is a content tool more than a classic deck editor, and because the US subsidiary is a real consideration for American users. For a European school or business, the Spanish entity is the one that applies.
What Genially does well
- Spanish company with register entry and CIF published
- Prices in euros on the plans page
- Free plan with no time limit
- Imports PDF, PowerPoint and Google Slides files
- Interactive layers, quizzes and games built in
Where Genially falls short
- US subsidiary handles data of US users
- Server location not stated in the text read
- Annual billing for the listed plans
- Less suited to plain corporate decks than Pitch
Standout feature. It builds interactive pages, quizzes and games, not only static slides.
Berlin, Germany
Free
Free download
Best for: Anyone who wants a free presentation editor on their own computer
LibreOffice Impress is the presentation program in the LibreOffice suite. The project describes it as a way to create multimedia presentations with ease and speed. It is free to download, installs locally, and sits alongside Writer, Calc, Draw, Base and Math, so a team can move documents, spreadsheets and slides in one step.
The responsible body is The Document Foundation, a charitable foundation under German law at Winterfeldtstraße 52, 10781 Berlin, with a named board of directors in its imprint. The site footer states the source code is licensed under the Mozilla Public License v2.0. Because Impress runs on your own computer, there is no vendor cloud to ask about for the editing itself.
It ranks fourth because it is the strongest no-cost answer to PowerPoint in file support, but real-time team editing is not its focus and its look is plainer than design-first tools. Pair it with Collabora Online if you need browser co-editing.
What LibreOffice Impress does well
- Free, with no subscription or usage limits stated
- Runs on your own computer
- Open-source code under MPL v2.0
- German charitable foundation with named board in its imprint
Where LibreOffice Impress falls short
- Collaboration is not the focus of the desktop app
- Plainer templates than design-first tools
- Plain, utilitarian look next to design-first tools
- Complex PowerPoint files may need checking after opening
Standout feature. It is the only option here run by a charitable foundation rather than a company.
Riga, Latvia

DocSpace Free for users and guests / DocSpace Business $20 per admin per month / Docs Enterprise from $1,500
Free DocSpace tier and a free trial of Docs Enterprise

The site says you can create slideshows with autoshapes and SmartArt graphics, add video and clip art, and chat with collaborators. It is available in the cloud through DocSpace, as a self-hosted Docs server and as desktop editors.
The company is Ascensio System SIA, and the About page says it is headquartered in Riga, Latvia. The Document Server code is on GitHub under AGPL-3.0. Prices are in dollars, not euros.
It ranks fifth because the product is strong on file compatibility and self-hosting, while the pages read do not give a registration number or the cloud hosting location, so the legal and hosting detail is thinner than for the entries above it.
What ONLYOFFICE does well
- Opens PPTX, PPT, ODP, PPSX and KEY files
- Self-hosted, cloud and desktop editions
- Latvian company named in the legal terms
- Open-source Document Server under AGPL-3.0
- Free DocSpace tier
Where ONLYOFFICE falls short
- Prices are shown in US dollars
- No company register number on the pages read
- Cloud hosting location not stated on the pricing page
- Some features require a paid edition
Standout feature. It offers the same presentation editor in the cloud, self-hosted and on the desktop.
Nuremberg, Germany
FreeOffice free / SoftMaker Office NX Universal subscription €39.90 for the first year then €49.90 per year, or €4.99 per month, VAT included
30-day free trial of NX Universal; FreeOffice is permanently free
Best for: People who want a PowerPoint-style desktop app at a low price
SoftMaker Office includes Presentations, which the vendor says uses PPTX natively so slides can be exchanged with PowerPoint without conversion. It runs on Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS and Android. The free FreeOffice edition covers the basics, and the NX Universal subscription adds more, listed at €39.90 for the first year and €49.90 after, or €4.99 per month, VAT included.
The vendor is SoftMaker Software GmbH, Kronacher Str. 7, 90427 Nuremberg, Commercial register Nuremberg HRB 8788, VAT DE133558685, managing director Martin Kotulla. The product page says its subscription includes AI text and translation allowances and mentions DeepL, LanguageTool and ChatGPT, so those features involve outside services even though the editing is local.
It ranks sixth because it is a credible PowerPoint replacement with clear German company details and clear euro prices, but it has less real-time collaboration than the browser suites above it.
What SoftMaker Office does well
- Presentations app uses PPTX as its native format
- Free FreeOffice edition
- German GmbH with register number and VAT ID published
- Euro prices with VAT included on the page
- Five operating systems supported
Where SoftMaker Office falls short
- AI features use outside services including ChatGPT, per the vendor
- Less real-time collaboration than browser suites
- Not open source
- Subscription model for the full NX Universal edition
Standout feature. Its Presentations app uses PPTX as its native file format, per the vendor.

Typst is a typesetting system with a web app, and its homepage lists presentations among its use cases: slides with instant previews, maths, citations and scripting. The pricing page shows a Free plan at $0 per month and Pro at $7.99 per month, with Pro listing a presentation feature to present and draw on slides, plus comments, GitHub and GitLab sync and Zotero sync.

The compiler is open source under Apache-2.0 on GitHub. The pricing page shows dollar prices, and the pages read do not state a hosting country for the web app.
It ranks seventh because it is not a visual editor. If you want to drag boxes, look above. If you already write documents in code and want slides from the same source, it is the most elegant option here.
What Typst does well
- German GmbH with register number and VAT ID published
- Open-source compiler under Apache-2.0
- Maths, citations and scripting built in
- Free plan available
Where Typst falls short
- Not a drag-and-drop editor

Free CODE development edition
Best for: Organisations running a self-hosted browser office suite
Collabora Online is a browser-based office suite built on LibreOffice. Its Impress app is described as collaborative slide creation with professional design and formatting, flexible canvas sizes, rich media and interactive layouts, and it supports ODP, PPT and PPTX files. The company is Collabora Productivity Limited, company number 08644931 at Companies House, incorporated on 9 August 2013, registered office St John's Innovation Centre, Cowley Road, Cambridge CB4 0WS. The About page also lists an office at Versmannstrasse 4, 20457 Hamburg, Germany. The UK is outside the EU, so this is the one British entry in the list.
No price is shown in the page text; the site offers a quote and a free development edition, CODE. It ranks eighth because it is mainly a product that integrates into platforms you run, rather than a ready-made service you simply sign up for.
What Collabora Online does well
- Real-time collaborative slide editing in the browser
- Opens ODP, PPT and PPTX files
- Company number verified at Companies House
- Free CODE development edition
Where Collabora Online falls short

Free account on a public instance / flagship instance paid plans €5 to €100 per month / own instance with support from €1.5K per year
Free account and a demo instance
Best for: Privacy-focused teams that want encrypted collaborative slides
CryptPad is an end-to-end encrypted, open-source collaborative office suite. Its documentation lists a Slides app for writing slides with Markdown, with themes, import and export and images, and its site also lists a Presentation app. The cryptpad.org pricing page shows a free account on a public instance, paid plans on the flagship instance from €5 to €100 per month, and support for your own instance from €1.5K per year.
The flagship service is run by XWiki SAS, which appears in the French company register under SIREN 477865281, created on 19 July 2004 with its registered address at 4 rue du Faubourg Poissonnière, 75010 Paris. The repository is licensed AGPL-3.0, and the site describes the suite as end-to-end encrypted and open source.
It ranks ninth because slides are Markdown-based, which suits some people and not others, and because it is a suite rather than a specialist deck tool. It is the strongest option here when confidentiality is the main requirement.
What CryptPad does well
- Described by the project as end-to-end encrypted
- Open source under AGPL-3.0
- French company in a public register
- Free account on public instances
- Can be self-hosted
Where CryptPad falls short
- Markdown slides, not a drag-and-drop designer
- Fewer design templates than specialist tools
- Paid plan amounts vary from €5 to €100 per month
- Importing complex PowerPoint decks is not its focus
Standout feature. It is the one option here built around end-to-end encryption.

The pricing page shows a free tier with 3 downloads and 3 AI-generated presentations per month, and Premium at 29.99 € billed annually (shown as 2.50 € per month), which adds unlimited downloads, ad-free use and early access to new AI features, with stated security limits of 150 downloads and 150 AI generations per month.
The terms of use, dated May 2024, say the site is operated by Freepik Company, S.L.U., registered in the Commercial Registry of Málaga, tax number B-93183366, at 13 Molina Lario St., 29015 Málaga. The current privacy policy names Magnific AI, S.L.U. with the same tax number, so the company has been renamed. The policy says data is transferred outside the EU for its AI assistant and third-party models.
It ranks tenth because it is a template source and AI starter more than a collaborative editor, and because its AI features involve transfers outside the EU. As a way to get a good-looking deck quickly, it is hard to beat.
What Slidesgo does well
- More than 30,000 templates
- Spanish company with register entry published
- Euro pricing on the page
- AI presentation maker included
Where Slidesgo falls short
- AI features involve data transfers outside the EU
- Operator name differs between the terms and the privacy policy
- Free tier limited to 3 downloads a month

Standout feature. It has the largest template library of the tools here, by its own count.
Amsterdam, Netherlands
Free forever / Starter and Professional paid plans, amounts not in the page text / Campus and Enterprise on request
Free forever plan
Best for: Teachers and trainers who want free interactive lessons
Sendsteps describes itself as a learning loop platform for education, with interactive presentations, 20-plus question types, unlimited participants and AI lesson creation. The free-forever plan gives 10 AI creations a month and one PowerPoint import a month. Starter, Professional and Campus or Enterprise tiers add unlimited AI, unlimited PowerPoint import, team collaboration and governance features.
The contracting party is Sendsteps B.V., Haarlemmerweg 321B, 1051 LG Amsterdam, Dutch Chamber of Commerce number 34307436, VAT NL8197.19.936.B01, and Dutch law governs the terms exclusively. The privacy statement says Sendsteps serves customers globally, uses partners located worldwide and may transfer data outside the EU, including to the United States, with safeguards.
The pricing page does not show amounts in its text, so none is quoted. It ranks eleventh because its focus is now education and the data statement is broad, which makes it a fit for classrooms more than for confidential corporate decks.
What Sendsteps does well
- Dutch B.V. with chamber of commerce number and VAT ID published
- Free-forever plan
- Unlimited participants on the free plan
- Dutch law governs the terms
Where Sendsteps falls short
- Amounts for paid plans not in the page text

Best for: Companies that already use PowerPoint and want live interaction and a slide library
SlideLizard is software that runs inside PowerPoint. It offers live polls and word clouds, quiz competitions, audience Q&A and live slide sharing, and a central slide library with access control and automatic corporate-design checks. The site says it has more than 2,000,000 users. It also markets an AI product, LIZ AI, to generate and update presentations.
The company is SlideLizard Software GmbH, Semmelweisstraße 34, 4020 Linz, Austria, Firmenbuch number FN 528835z at the court in Linz, UID ATU75556408. The data-security page says all data stays in Europe, with audience interaction data on its own servers in Germany at Hetzner and, if you share slides, a slide image and PDF in Microsoft Azure in Amsterdam, and own-server operation is offered. No price is shown in the page text.
It ranks last because it is an add-in, not an alternative to PowerPoint, and it depends on Microsoft's software. It is included for companies that want to keep PowerPoint and keep interaction data in Europe.
What SlideLizard does well
- Austrian GmbH with register number and UID published
- Data locations named: Hetzner Germany and Azure Amsterdam
- Own-server operation offered
- Central slide library with brand checks
Where SlideLizard falls short
- Requires PowerPoint, so the Microsoft dependency remains
- No price in the page text, quote only
- Not a standalone presentation editor
- Part of the data sits in a Microsoft cloud
Standout feature. It is the only option here that keeps PowerPoint and moves the audience data to Europe.
