Our review
The privacy notice names wemakeit AG, c/o Coworking Seefeld, Reinhardstrasse 19, 8008 Zurich, registered in the Zurich commercial register under CHE-260.625.831. The terms and imprint use the English form wemakeit Ltd for the same operator.
The home page advertises a Community-Owned Company model with shares for owners, and a Communities product that funds groups on an ongoing basis instead of one project at a time.
Projects and Communities
The terms say the operator enables individuals and companies to present or financially support projects and also offers continuous community funding. Initiators are creators, supporters back them, and the operator may appoint third parties to collect payments into a Swiss account.
The home page claims 8,543 successful projects since 2012 and a 68% success rate; the text is the platform's own and we did not verify it.
Swiss payment methods
The footer lists PostFinance, TWINT, Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay and Google Pay, which suits Swiss backers.
The place of jurisdiction in the terms is Zurich, subject to mandatory statutory venues.
What the pages do not show
The pages we read do not state a commission rate, a payment fee or where data is hosted. Creators should ask wemakeit for its current fee table.
The interface is in English, German, French and Italian, but most project examples on the home page are in German.
Points against
Fees were not shown on the pages we read, Switzerland is outside the EU, and the audience is mainly Swiss. Funds are collected into a Swiss account, which adds currency considerations for euro backers.
Best suited to users of wemakeit
Swiss creators, local businesses and clubs that want TWINT and PostFinance. EU-based creators can compare Startnext or Ulule.
