Detailed Review
The first thing the parameter list shows is that this is a marine-weather product that also does land weather. Waves, swell, secondary swell, wind waves, currents, water temperature, sea ice, depth, salinity, pH and chlorophyll appear alongside temperature, pressure, gusts, humidity and visibility.
The terms and conditions name Storm Glass AB as the provider and state that Swedish law governs them, with arbitration in Stockholm. Payments run through Stripe, and the pricing page mentions invoicing for enterprise customers.
Four priced rungs
The free plan allows 10 requests a day and is marked not for commercial use. Small costs €19 a month for 500 requests a day, Medium €49 for 5,000 and Large €129 for 25,000.
Medium and Large are the plans that state full support and commercial use. Every plan lists all weather parameters, so the price steps follow volume, not fields.
Industry pages
The site organises itself by use case: marine weather, wind power, solar energy, agtech and consumer apps. Solar radiation, UV, soil moisture and soil temperature are the fields behind the last three.
Tide extremes (high and low sea level) are a separate parameter group, which matters for harbour and fishing tools.
Contract terms to read
The terms say the company may change or end any service at any time, and that the free test plan is not meant for indefinite use. Access rights and passwords may not be passed to third parties.
Account data is kept until the account is deleted, and deletion can be requested by email.
Limitations to Consider
The company address and registration number were not on the terms page as fetched, and the documentation site is client-rendered, so endpoints and data sources could not be checked. A quota of 25,000 requests a day on the largest listed plan is small next to Open-Meteo's volume plans; bigger loads need an enterprise quote.
Who Should Use Stormglass
Teams building for the sea, wind or solar sectors who want one subscription for weather and ocean data.
