What the free SityTrail plan includes
The free SityTrail plan is priced at EUR 0 a year and uses an OpenStreetMap base map. It records trails with geo-tagged photos and shows distance, travelled km-effort, average speed and calories burned.
The free plan also lists an altimeter with elevation profile, backup and synchronisation across devices, and personal lists for sorting trails.
What SityTrail Premium adds
SityTrail Premium opens the whole hike catalogue and adds world topographic maps and downloadable IGN maps for offline use. It also lists printing of trails and tools to create and manage a community or club.
The price of Premium was not shown on the pages we read.
SityTrail as a European alternative to AllTrails
SityTrail gives AllTrails users a Belgian publisher and a free tier with recording and sync. Offline IGN maps sit behind Premium, so the free plan works best for hikers who do not need maps without signal.
Where it falls short
The Premium price is not shown on the pages we read, and the free plan uses an OpenStreetMap base map without offline IGN maps. The privacy policy still names the older legal form Geolives Belgium S.P.R.L. next to the SRL in the terms. Hosting location is not stated. Compare with OsmAnd for free offline maps.
Is SityTrail right for you?
Hikers in Belgium, France and neighbouring countries who want a free tracker and may later pay for IGN offline maps.
