Detailed Review
Vela Solaris AG, in Winterthur, makes Polysun in four forms: Standard, Designer, SPT and an enterprise API. Only SPT is aimed at installers and PV planners; the others simulate wider energy systems.
Its feature table lists more than 1,000 system templates for the Standard and Designer editions, and databases of 40,000 PV modules, 2,900 inverters and 750 batteries.
Polysun SPT for PV
SPT selects roofs from Google Maps, Bing or uploaded aerial images and plans, builds an automatic 3D visualisation with terrain modelling and analyses near-field shading in detail.
It creates CAD roof plans of module fixing points, string plans in 3D, a detailed circuit diagram and automatic or manual inverter sizing.
Beyond PV
Polysun Standard and Designer simulate heat pumps, solar thermal, CHP units, district heating, cooling and hybrid systems. Designer adds hydraulic layouts and control strategies of your own.
Where a project mixes PV, storage and heat pumps, one simulation can compare variants for self-consumption and economics.
Cloud API
Polysun API gives access to the calculation engine so manufacturers and utilities can build simulation into their own web applications.
Enterprise pricing is by contact.
Limitations to Consider
The product page and trial offer are in German and English; shop prices were not visible in what we read. Standard and Designer are general energy simulators, not sales tools, and SPT has no CRM or quoting pipeline described. Full capability depends on choosing the right one of four editions.
Who Should Use Polysun
Swiss, German and Austrian planners and heat pump or PV specialists who want building, PV and heating simulation from one vendor.
