Make began life in Prague as Integromat and built a reputation on a genuinely different automation model. Where Zapier chains steps in a line, Make gives you a canvas with routers that branch, iterators that loop over arrays, aggregators that collapse them back, and error handlers attached to individual modules.

That expressiveness means workflows which would need several chained Zaps and a spreadsheet in between fit into one scenario you can see at a glance.

The Scenario Model

Routers send data down conditional paths. Iterators split an array so each item flows through subsequent modules individually. Aggregators reassemble the results. Together these handle the shape of real business processes — for each line item in this order, check inventory, and if it is low notify purchasing — that linear tools cannot express without contortions.

The visual canvas also makes debugging tractable: you can inspect the data at every point in the flow, which is where most automation problems actually get solved.

Integration Breadth and Custom Modules

With more than two thousand integrations, Make covers most of what a business runs on. Where an app is missing, the HTTP module and custom app builder let you wrap any REST API, and those custom modules behave like native ones in the canvas.

EU Data Residency and Ownership

Make lets you choose an EU data centre when creating an organisation, keeping scenario data and stored records in Europe. The company remains Prague-based and EU-established.

Worth knowing for procurement: Make was acquired by Celonis, a German-American process mining company, in 2020. The operation and the EU data centre remain European, but the ownership picture is more complex than a purely independent Czech company.

Limitations to Consider

Make is a managed service with no self-hosting option, so credentials for connected systems sit with the vendor — the specific concern n8n exists to address. The operations-based pricing rewards efficient scenario design and can surprise teams that iterate over large data sets. And the visual model, while powerful, takes real learning before complex scenarios feel natural.

Who Should Use Make

Operations, marketing and finance teams that need automation with real logic but do not want to run servers. It is the strongest managed automation platform in Europe and, on capability alone, a better product than Zapier for anything non-trivial.
