Detailed Review
CIMCO is not a full CAM package. Its core product is CIMCO Edit, a Windows NC program editor with backplot and solid simulation for milling, turning and mill-turn, supplemented by DNC communication and machine data collection.
The company is CIMCO A/S at Vermundsgade 38A in Copenhagen. A separate entity, CIMCO Americas, LLC, handles North America, so buyers outside Europe should check which entity contracts.
NC editing and simulation
CIMCO Edit now comes in Core and Ultra editions from 1 September 2026. It includes code suggestions, syntax checks, file compare, cycles and macros, tool management and 3, 4 and 5-axis backplotting. A new Edit AI feature lets AI agents write and modify NC programs inside the editor.
Active-selection simulation was added in 2026, and simulation can be started from a chosen block of code.
CNC-Calc as light CAM
CNC-Calc is an add-on in its own tab. It imports DXF files, supports fillets, chamfers and bolt-hole patterns, and generates milling and turning operations such as facing, roughing, contour, constant cut and drilling for ISO, Fanuc and Heidenhain controls.
It is meant for shops new to CAD/CAM, not for complex 3D parts.
Integrations and shop floor
The vendor lists direct transfers from Mastercam, Autodesk Fusion, SolidCAM and GibbsCAM. DNC-Max sends programs by RS-232 and FTP, and MDC-Max collects machine data. All software can be tried free for 30 days, sold through resellers.
Limitations to Consider
CIMCO does not generate complex 3D or 5-axis toolpaths, so it complements rather than replaces a CAM system such as hyperMILL or GO2cam. Prices are handled by resellers and not shown publicly. A separate US entity exists for North America.
Who Should Use CIMCO
CNC programmers and machine shops that want a Danish vendor for NC editing, verification and DNC, possibly with a simple 2D CAM add-on.
