European Email Verification Tools

An email verification tool checks whether addresses on a list or in a sign-up form exist, can receive mail and are not disposable, so that bounces do not damage your sender reputation. Every list you upload contains personal data, so the contracting entity and the servers matter. The European tools below are run by companies in Poland, Germany, Italy, Slovakia, France, the UK and other countries, under their own national law.

How we rank these tools — 4-step process
  1. 1
    European ownership, verified

The company is headquartered and incorporated in the EU, EEA, the UK, Switzerland or Israel, and processes customer data in Europe or Israel. A US parent company disqualifies a tool from this page regardless of where its servers are.

  2. 2
    Category fit and hands-on review

What the tool actually does, who it suits, and where it falls short — checked against the vendor’s own documentation, changelog and pricing page rather than its marketing copy.

  3. 3
    Compliance and pricing check

GDPR posture, hosting location and the prices quoted on this page are verified against the vendor’s public pricing before publication, and re-checked when we revisit the category.

  4. 4
    Position on this page

Placement on this page can be paid, and that can affect the order tools appear in. It never buys a listing: a tool that fails the checks above is not here at any price, and payment does not change the shortcomings we write about. A vendor can ask us to correct a factual error — not to remove a criticism.

Vendors can pay for visibility on this page. It never changes what an entry says about a product, including the criticism, and we earn nothing when you click through to a vendor. Vendors can pay for more visibility, higher up on the review pages; it never affects whether a tool is listed. Editorial policy

Key takeaways

  • EmailListVerify ranks #1 among the European email verification tools in this directory, because it combines euro prices, a published per-address rate of EUR 0.0027 and 100 free verifications from a Slovak company.
  • Bouncer, Syvel and StopBouncing each say where data runs: Frankfurt for Bouncer, Scaleway in France for Syvel, and an EU claim at StopBouncing that its own privacy policy contradicts with a Washington DC region.
  • Byteplant Email-Validator gives the largest free allowance, 1,000 checks, while EmailListVerify, MailTester, Email Hippo and StopBouncing offer 100.
  • MailTester is the only verifier in this category that bundles inbox placement reports and blacklist monitors with address checks.
  • Loqate charges per lookup, from 5.6c to 7.7c for an email, which is many times the price of the credit packs sold by StopBouncing or EmailListVerify.

European email verification tools check whether the addresses on a list or in a sign-up form exist, can receive mail and are not disposable, run by companies established in Europe, which matters because every list you upload is personal data handled by whoever operates the checker.

#1 EmailListVerify

Bratislava, Slovakia Prices in EUR; minimum purchase 1,000 credits; 10,000 credits EUR 27 one-off (EUR 0.0027 per address); the same 10,000 credits on a monthly plan EUR 25; 100 free verifications Demo on request

Best for: Marketers who clean a list before each campaign and want euro prices

  • Operating company. EmailListVerify s. r. o.
  • Jurisdiction. EU (Slovakia)
  • Where the data sits. not stated on the pages we read; Amazon Web Services is named in the privacy policy
  • Source code. Closed source
  • Replaces. ZeroBounce

EmailListVerify is a bulk verifier run by EmailListVerify s. r. o. in Bratislava. You upload a TXT, CSV or XLSX file, wait a few minutes and receive a result that flags spam traps, hard bounces, disposable addresses and catch-all domains. A new account gets 100 free verifications, which is enough to judge the output on a real sample.

The Slovak company publishes its company number and VAT ID, and its terms fall under Slovak law with the courts of Bratislava. Ten thousand credits cost EUR 27 once, and the vendor says the service costs half of comparable tools, a comparison we did not test. The pages name Amazon Web Services as a processor but no region, and no written accuracy guarantee appeared.

What EmailListVerify does well

  • Slovak company with CIN and VAT ID published
  • Prices shown in EUR
  • 100 free verifications to test
  • Accepts TXT, CSV and XLSX files
  • Monthly plan available next to one-off credits

Where EmailListVerify falls short

  • Server region not stated on the pages read
  • No written accuracy guarantee found
  • Narrower than the ZeroBounce deliverability suite
  • Volumes above 1,000,000 emails need a quote

Standout feature. EmailListVerify prices one-off bulk credits in euros with a published per-address rate of EUR 0.0027.

#2 Bouncer

Best for: Teams that want a Polish verifier with a stated EU server location and an API for forms

  • Operating company. Bouncer Sp. z o.o. (LTD)
  • Jurisdiction. EU (Poland)
  • Where the data sits. Frankfurt, Germany (per the privacy policy)
  • Source code. Closed source
  • Replaces. ZeroBounce

Bouncer is a verification service from Bouncer Sp. z o.o. in Wroclaw, and its privacy policy states that the servers are in Frankfurt. The product menu goes beyond bulk checks: Shield screens sign-up forms, AutoClean works on CRMs, and a deliverability kit covers inbox placement and blocklists. An MCP server is listed too.

Credits are sold pay as you go in dollars, from USD 8 for 1,000 to USD 2,000 for 1,000,000, and they do not expire. The Polish company is data controller for people in the EEA under Polish law. Its terms carry a 2018 date and its privacy policy a 2019 date, and the wording of its accuracy guarantee was not read.

What Bouncer does well

  • Polish company with a postal address in Wroclaw
  • Servers stated to be in Frankfurt
  • Shield API for sign-up forms
  • Credits never expire
  • Large volume prices published

Where Bouncer falls short

  • Prices in USD
  • Legal pages dated 2018 and 2019
  • Guarantee wording not checked
  • No free credit amount found on the pages read

Standout feature. Bouncer is the only verifier here that names Frankfurt as its server location and also sells a form-protection API.

#3 Verifalia

Padova, Italy Pay-as-you-go credit packs that never expire (1 credit = 1 standard verification) and monthly, quarterly (save 5%) or yearly (save 10%) plans; billing currencies include EUR, GBP and CHF; amounts not shown in the text we read Demo on request

Best for: Teams that want an Italian vendor with a published DPA and SLA

  • Operating company. Cobisi Research SRL (trading as Verifalia)
  • Jurisdiction. EU (Italy)
  • Where the data sits. not stated on the pages we read
  • Source code. Closed source
  • Replaces. ZeroBounce

Verifalia is the trading name of Cobisi Research SRL in Padova, Italy, and its site has carried a copyright line since 2005. It cleans lists, verifies addresses in real time through an API and offers a widget for sign-up forms. The vendor reports 99% accuracy and more than 100,000 customers, both figures we could not check.

Contract documents are the draw: the terms of service incorporate a DPA and an SLA, and the privacy policy names a data protection officer contact. Credits never expire and plans can be billed monthly, quarterly or yearly in many currencies, EUR included. The footer and legal pages disagree on address and VAT ID, so confirm the invoicing entity.

What Verifalia does well

  • Italian company with legal documents published
  • DPA and SLA are part of the terms
  • Credits never expire
  • Many billing currencies including EUR
  • Real-time API and widget next to list cleaning

Where Verifalia falls short

  • Two addresses and two VAT IDs shown on different pages

  • Operating company. Byteplant GmbH
  • Jurisdiction. EU (Germany)
  • Where the data sits. not stated on the pages we read; the vendor states processing follows GDPR
  • Source code. Closed source
  • Replaces. ZeroBounce

Email-Validator is the verification service of Byteplant GmbH in Neuendettelsau, Bavaria. The imprint names the Ansbach commercial register and a VAT ID. A free account checks 1,000 addresses, bulk lists are uploaded for cleaning, and a real-time API covers forms. The stages are syntax, MX lookup and an SMTP handshake with the destination server.

The same vendor sells address and phone validators, so one supplier can cover three kinds of contact data. Uploaded files are deleted after 14 days, according to the FAQ. Support runs by email, phone and chat, and the price page switches between EUR and USD. The amounts load by script and were not readable, and no server region is given.

What Byteplant Email-Validator does well

  • German GmbH with commercial register number published
  • 1,000 free checks without payment details
  • EUR price option
  • Credits never expire
  • Support by email, phone and chat

Where Byteplant Email-Validator falls short

Launceston, United Kingdom From USD 9.88 a month, subscription or pay as you go; 100 free checks; MORE covers 1,000 to 1,000,000 checks a month online, higher volumes via sales Demo on request

Best for: Teams that want separate products for list cleaning and for form-level risk checks

  • Operating company. Email Hippo Limited
  • Jurisdiction. United Kingdom (adequacy decision, outside the EEA)
  • Where the data sits. not stated on the pages we read
  • Source code. Closed source
  • Replaces. ZeroBounce

Email Hippo is a product line of Email Hippo Limited, registered in England with its office in Launceston, Cornwall. CORE cleans a CSV list in bulk, MORE verifies in real time through an API, and INSIGHT and ASSESS add enrichment and fraud signals, with WHOIS lookups on top. A pricing table matches each product to a use.

Verification starts at USD 9.88 a month, with 100 free checks and no card needed. The terms give English courts exclusive jurisdiction. The United Kingdom holds an EU adequacy decision but sits outside the EEA, and the site lists a US toll-free number. Teams needing both bulk and API pay for two products, and no data location or accuracy guarantee is stated.

What Email Hippo does well

  • UK registered company with address and VAT number
  • Bulk and real-time products
  • 100 free checks
  • Low entry price from USD 9.88 a month
  • Fraud and WHOIS products available

Where Email Hippo falls short

  • Prices in USD
  • Separate products for bulk and API
  • Data location not stated

  • Source code. Closed source
  • Replaces. ZeroBounce

MailTester is operated by Edustria V.O.F., a Belgian partnership in Beerst, and its terms follow Belgian law. Besides syntax, MX, mailbox and disposable checks it tests where a real campaign lands, in the inbox, promotions or spam, and it watches blacklists. The home page states 99% accuracy, which is the vendor's own claim.

Pay-as-you-go credits do not expire: USD 19 buys 5,000, USD 79 buys 50,000 and USD 2,999 buys 10,000,000. Subscriptions start at USD 39 a month and yearly billing takes 30% off. A company number is not shown, no ISO or SOC certificate appeared, and the privacy policy mentions California rights beside European ones.

What MailTester does well

  • Belgian entity with address in the terms
  • Inbox placement reports included in plans
  • Blacklist monitors in plans
  • Credits never expire
  • 100 free credits

Where MailTester falls short

  • Prices in USD
  • No certifications found

#7 Syvel

France (city not shown), France Free EUR 0 with 100 requests a month; Starter EUR 9 for 1,000; Pro EUR 49 for 10,000; Business EUR 199 for 100,000 requests a month; prices exclude VAT Demo on request

Best for: Developers who want to block fake sign-ups through an API hosted in France

  • Operating company. RCQD Labs (trading as Syvel)
  • Jurisdiction. EU (France)
  • Where the data sits. France (Scaleway SAS application servers and PostgreSQL database, per the sales terms)
  • Source code. Closed source
  • Replaces. ZeroBounce

Syvel is an email validation API run under the trade name of RCQD Labs, a French sole trader with a SIRET number. It judges the domain with live DNS data such as MX records, SPF, DMARC and domain age, returns a risk score from 0 to 100 and flags typos, role addresses and disposable domains. A privacy mode hashes the address.

Plans are in euros, excluding VAT: free for 100 requests a month, EUR 9 for 1,000, EUR 49 for 10,000 and EUR 199 for 100,000. French law governs the terms, and the sales terms name Scaleway SAS for application servers and the database. The vendor claims response times under 50 ms. We found no bulk upload and no mailbox-level SMTP check.

What Syvel does well

  • French operator with SIRET published
  • Servers at Scaleway in France
  • Free tier of 100 requests a month
  • Plans priced in EUR
  • DPA included

Where Syvel falls short

  • Sole trader as the contracting entity
  • No bulk upload or mailbox check described
  • Google Analytics on the site
  • Small free quota

Standout feature. Syvel states where it runs: Scaleway servers and database in France, named in its sales terms.

#8 StopBouncing

Netherlands (address not shown), Netherlands Euro credit packs: 10,000 for EUR 18; 25,000 for EUR 35; 50,000 for EUR 52; 100,000 for EUR 99; 250,000 for EUR 180; 1,000,000 for EUR 600; no subscription, no expiry; 100 free verifications Demo on request

Best for: Occasional list cleaning with a euro price and no subscription

  • Operating company. StopBouncing (KVK 42125347)
  • Jurisdiction. EU (Netherlands)
  • Where the data sits. claims EU hosting; the privacy policy names a Vercel region in Washington DC
  • Source code. Closed source
  • Replaces. ZeroBounce

StopBouncing is a Dutch pay-as-you-go verifier registered under KVK 42125347, whose terms follow Dutch law. Packs range from 10,000 credits for EUR 18 to 1,000,000 for EUR 600, there is no subscription or expiry, and 100 verifications are free. Results flag valid, disposable, invalid, role and unknown addresses, and payment by crypto is possible.

Hosting needs a question before you upload a list. The site markets EU hosting and GDPR compliance, while the privacy policy, effective 26 October 2026, names Vercel's EU region and a Washington DC region in one sentence. The text we read shows no legal form or street address, and Google Analytics is used.

What StopBouncing does well

  • Euro credit packs with public prices
  • No subscription or expiry
  • 100 free verifications
  • Crypto payments accepted
  • KVK registration number published

Where StopBouncing falls short

  • Hosting claim contradicts the privacy policy
  • No legal form or address in the text read
  • No integrations or deliverability tools found
  • Google Analytics in use

Standout feature. StopBouncing publishes the lowest euro pack among the verifiers here: EUR 18 for 10,000 verifications.

#9 Mailjet

Paris, France Founded 2010 Free tier / From €15/month Demo on request

Best for: Teams needing collaborative email marketing

  • Operating company. Mailjet
  • Jurisdiction. EU (France)
  • Source code. Closed source
  • Replaces. SendGrid, Mailchimp

Mailjet is a Paris-founded sending platform, created in 2010 and now part of the Swedish company Sinch. Its blog describes email validations processed in the EU for customers. The product is an API, SMTP relay and a template builder first, and verification is a feature of that account rather than a stand-alone service.

That shapes who should read this entry. Anyone already sending through Mailjet avoids a second vendor and a second integration. Anyone cleaning a list that goes out elsewhere has little reason to start here. We did not read the verification price or the exact contracting entity for it, and the terms also mention Sinch Email entities in Texas.

What Mailjet does well

  • Editors can co-edit, comment on and approve a template together
  • Sends API and transactional mail alongside campaigns
  • Paris-founded company with processing in the EU
  • A/B tests and live deliverability analytics
  • A free plan lets you try the sending side

Where Mailjet falls short

  • Automation is thinner than at Brevo or GetResponse
  • No SMS or WhatsApp sending
  • No landing pages or webinar tools
  • Fewer templates than MailerLite offers

Standout feature. Mailjet verifies addresses inside the platform that sends the mail, so list checks and delivery share one account.

#10 Mailboxlayer

Vienna, Austria Free plan; the home page offers 1,000 free requests a month and subscriptions from USD 9.99; the pricing page lists Basic at USD 14.99 a month (5,000 requests) and Professional Plus at USD 74.99 a month (50,000 requests) Demo on request

Best for: Developers who need a small API for form validation

  • Operating company. apilayer Data Products GmbH
  • Jurisdiction. EU (Austria)
  • Where the data sits. not stated on the pages we read
  • Source code. Closed source
  • Replaces. ZeroBounce

Mailboxlayer is a REST API from apilayer Data Products GmbH in Vienna, registered as FN 532531i. Each response carries format_valid, mx_found, smtp_check, catch_all, role, disposable and free fields, a quality score and a did-you-mean suggestion for typos. The disposable and free provider database is described as updated daily.

The API is the whole product: no bulk upload, warmup or monitoring. The home page offers 1,000 free requests a month, while the pricing page shows USD 14.99 for 5,000 and USD 74.99 for 50,000, so verify the entry price. The terms were last modified in 2018, and the owner of apilayer is not named on the pages we read.

What Mailboxlayer does well

  • Austrian GmbH with commercial register number
  • Free plan available
  • Catch-all and SMTP checks in the API
  • Quality score and typo suggestions
  • Low entry price

Where Mailboxlayer falls short

  • Conflicting prices between pages
  • No bulk interface
  • Terms dated 2018
  • Owner not stated

Standout feature. Mailboxlayer returns a score, a typo suggestion and every check flag in one JSON response.

#11 Loqate

Chester, United Kingdom Per lookup: email validation 7.7c, 6.9c and 5.6c across three tiers labelled EUR 75, EUR 150 and EUR 300; 45-day free trial; bespoke plans on request Demo on request

Best for: Companies that already validate addresses and phones and want email checks on the same platform

  • Operating company. GB Group PLC (Loqate)
  • Jurisdiction. United Kingdom (adequacy decision, outside the EEA)
  • Where the data sits. not stated on the pages we read
  • Source code. Closed source
  • Replaces. ZeroBounce

Loqate is the data quality brand of GB Group PLC, based in Chester, with a company registration number and VAT number in its impressum. Email validation runs in real time or in batch and confirms through a series of steps whether the address exists on its mail server. The vendor claims 97% accuracy for that step.

The product sits next to address capture, address verification, phone validation and geocoding. Email lookups cost 7.7c, 6.9c and 5.6c across three tiers labelled EUR 75, EUR 150 and EUR 300, many times a bulk credit pack. A 45-day trial is offered. GBG lists US subsidiaries such as Loqate Inc, and no data location is stated.

What Loqate does well

  • UK public company with number and VAT published
  • Email, phone and address checks on one platform
  • Real-time and batch modes
  • 45-day free trial
  • Prices in euros on the Dutch page

Where Loqate falls short

  • Per-lookup prices far above credit packs
  • US subsidiaries in the group
  • Data location not stated
  • No list deliverability tools found

Standout feature. Loqate checks email, postal address and phone number under one GBG contract.

How do I choose between the European email verification tools?

Start with the shape of the job. A marketer who cleans one list before each campaign wants a bulk upload and a price per address, which points to EmailListVerify, StopBouncing or Verifalia. A developer who protects a sign-up form wants a real-time API, which points to Syvel, Mailboxlayer or Bouncer Shield.

Then check the contracting entity and the hosting statement. Bouncer names Frankfurt, Syvel names Scaleway in France, and most others state no server region at all. Ask for it in writing before you upload a customer list.

How is email verification priced, and what does a clean list cost?

Most vendors sell credits, one per address. StopBouncing charges EUR 18 for 10,000 and EUR 600 for 1,000,000. EmailListVerify charges EUR 27 once for 10,000. Bouncer charges USD 60 for 10,000 and USD 2,000 for 1,000,000, while MailTester charges USD 79 for 50,000. Credits at Bouncer, MailTester and StopBouncing never expire, and EmailListVerify sells them as a one-off purchase.

API vendors price by request per month instead: Syvel runs from EUR 9 for 1,000 to EUR 199 for 100,000, Mailboxlayer lists USD 14.99 for 5,000, and Loqate charges per lookup. Compare on cost per thousand addresses at your volume, and count the free allowance as a test, not as a budget.

Is a European email verifier safer for GDPR than a US one?

It simplifies the contract. A Slovak, Polish, German, Italian or French verifier signs under EU law with a supervisory authority near you, and no transfer mechanism is needed for the vendor itself. A US verifier relies on something like the Data Privacy Framework, which depends on a US adequacy decision.

It does not settle hosting. EmailListVerify names Amazon Web Services without a region, StopBouncing's policy names a Vercel region in Washington DC, and Mailboxlayer's policy says data goes to US service providers. Email Hippo and Loqate are British, which means an adequacy decision rather than EU membership.

How do I migrate from ZeroBounce to a European verifier?

Export your validation reports and suppression lists from ZeroBounce first, then run the same 1,000-address sample through two European tools and compare the invalid, catch-all and unknown counts. EmailListVerify, StopBouncing, Verifalia and Byteplant all accept bulk files, and the free allowances cover such a test.

Then change the integrations. Every sign-up form or CRM workflow that calls the ZeroBounce API needs a new endpoint, key and status mapping. ZeroBounce also sells warmup, DMARC monitoring and an email finder, which none of the tools here replaces one for one, so decide which of those you keep paying for.

When should you not switch to a European email verifier?

Stay with ZeroBounce or another suite if you use its warmup, DMARC monitoring and blacklist tooling every week, since only MailTester and Bouncer offer part of that on the European side. Stay if you need the certifications it claims, ISO/IEC 27001:2022 and SOC 2 Type 2, and we found no equivalent certification on the European pages we read.

Also pause if your list is small. For a few hundred addresses a year, the free allowances at Byteplant, EmailListVerify and Email Hippo cost nothing, so the switch costs less in money than in the afternoon spent re-mapping an integration.

Which tool fits an API-only use case?

Syvel, Mailboxlayer and Bouncer are the three built for forms. Syvel scores the domain from 0 to 100 and hosts in France, Mailboxlayer returns SMTP and catch-all flags in JSON from Vienna, and Bouncer Shield screens entries with servers in Frankfurt. Email Hippo MORE and Verifalia also expose real-time APIs.

Mailjet is a sensible pick only when you already send through it, because its checks belong to the sending account. Loqate suits companies that validate addresses and phones and want email on the same platform.

How we selected and ranked these 11 tools

Every tool on this page is in the European Purpose directory, which means the operating company is established in Europe and we have verified that from the company register or the vendor's own legal notice rather than from a marketing page. Tools headquartered outside Europe are not eligible, however good they are.

  1. Feature verification (weight: 40%). We check each capability against the vendor's own documentation and product pages, and record what the tool does rather than what the category is assumed to include.
  2. Ease of adoption (weight: 30%). Integrations, published API access, trial availability and how much configuration stands between signing and a usable result.
  3. Value and transparency (weight: 30%). Published pricing counts in a vendor's favour; quote-only pricing is recorded as quote-only rather than estimated. We weigh what a buyer gets for the entry price, not the headline feature count.
  4. Editorial review. Every page is researched and drafted with AI assistance, and the compliance and pricing claims are checked against the vendor's documentation before it is published under the founder's editorial responsibility. The three weights above decide the order; a position is a ranking against the other European tools in this category, not an absolute score.

Vendor-reported outcomes — ROI figures, margin uplift, time saved — are labelled as vendor claims wherever they appear on this page. We have not audited them, and neither has anyone else who quotes them. Read our full editorial process for how pages are re-verified.

Frequently asked questions

EmailListVerify holds #1 in this directory for bulk cleaning in euros, with 10,000 credits at EUR 27 and 100 free checks. The right choice depends on the job: Bouncer for Frankfurt servers and a form shield, Verifalia for a DPA and SLA, MailTester for inbox placement tests, Syvel for a French sign-up API, and Byteplant for 1,000 free checks.

Yes. EmailListVerify and StopBouncing replace the bulk cleaning at euro prices, Bouncer adds a form shield with servers in Frankfurt, and MailTester adds inbox placement and blacklist monitors. None of them offers ZeroBounce's warmup, and ZeroBounce itself contracts through a Nevada company in Santa Barbara.

Byteplant Email-Validator in Neuendettelsau gives 1,000 free checks without payment details. EmailListVerify, StopBouncing, MailTester and Email Hippo give 100 each, Syvel gives 100 requests a month, Mailboxlayer lists 1,000 requests a month on its home page, and Loqate offers a 45-day trial.

Bouncer states Frankfurt, Germany in its privacy policy, and Syvel names Scaleway SAS in France in its sales terms. EmailListVerify names Amazon Web Services without a region, and StopBouncing claims EU hosting while its policy mentions a Washington DC region. The rest do not state a location on the pages we read.

Yes. Bouncer, Verifalia, Byteplant, MailTester and StopBouncing say credits never expire, and EmailListVerify sells one-off credits next to a monthly plan. Email Hippo offers pay as you go, and Syvel and Mailboxlayer are subscription APIs with a monthly request quota.
