Full review
WEDOS Group SA gives 7 rue Robert Stumper, L-2557 Luxembourg as its address, and the WEDOS terms also name a Czech company with its registered office in Hluboká nad Vltavou. WEDOS says it started in 2010 as a Czech web hosting provider.
WEDOS Zone is the DNS layer of a three-product platform. The other two products are WEDOS Protection for DDoS and WAF, and WEDOS OnLine for monitoring.
What does WEDOS Zone offer?
WEDOS describes Zone as managed Anycast DNS with primary, secondary and white-label nameservers. It lists 120+ points of presence, DNSSEC, GeoDNS, ANAME records and a full API.
WEDOS says a reseller model is included, which suits hosting providers more than single-site owners.
Where is WEDOS infrastructure run?
WEDOS states that it owns the hardware, runs its own anycast network and uses no third-party clouds. It lists EU data centres and an ISO 27001 certification.
WEDOS calls the platform European-owned and EU-governed. We could not check this claim against a company register in the pages we read.
WEDOS as a European alternative to Amazon Route 53
WEDOS Zone covers authoritative Anycast DNS, GeoDNS and DNSSEC, which map to part of the Route 53 feature set. WEDOS shows no public prices, so a quote or contact step comes before any comparison on cost.
Route 53 stays ahead on alias records and health checks inside AWS.
Where it falls short
WEDOS shows no DNS prices on the pages we read, and its homepage targets enterprises, telecoms and government customers, so a small site may find the entry step heavier than a self-service plan. Health checks and failover are not listed for Zone. For published prices compare Gcore or bunny.net.
