Our review
Soundation is provided by Soundation AB, which its terms describe as a company incorporated under the laws of Sweden with its main place of business at Goetgatan 15, 116 46 Stockholm. Postal correspondence goes to Mailbox 2452, S-11175 Stockholm.
The home page calls it an online studio for collaborating, recording and creating with sounds, instruments and effects. The terms also mention an Educational Plan for schools.
How does collaboration work?
Soundation says users can invite people to co-create in real time and share projects, presets and samples with a simple link. That is the main difference from a desktop session that lives on one disk.
The same page offers a Simple Sampler that turns recorded or imported audio into playable instruments.
What is Gennie?
Gennie is Soundation's generative music AI, which creates audio samples from text prompts. A separate addendum dated 14 March 2024 governs its use and is subject to Swedish law.
Anyone with rules about AI-generated material should read that addendum before using the output.
What can the pages we read not tell you?
The plans page returned no readable prices, and the pages do not list track limits, audio quality settings or plug-in support. A browser tool also depends on a stable connection.
Nothing in the text we read describes Pro Tools-style session interchange, surround mixing or video sync.
Known limits
Prices, track limits and plug-in support are not readable in the pages we saved, and the hosting location is not stated. A browser studio depends on the connection and offers none of the documented post-production features of Pro Tools. For a desktop DAW with open standards see Bitwig Studio.
Who Soundation fits
Beginners, teachers and remote bands who want a Swedish vendor and a studio that opens in a browser tab.
